Speaker 2 (00:19):
This morning, that powerful winter storm that dropped heavy snow
and ice over the Northeast still wreaking havoc on post
holiday travel. Much of that snow freezing overnight, creating dangerous
black ice for drivers this system bringing air travel to
a slow crawl.

Speaker 3 (00:35):

Speaker 2 (00:37):
Delays and cancelations yesterday, most of them in and out

Speaker 1 (00:41):

Speaker 24 (08:43):
I am great? You have a good Christmas?

Speaker 7 (08:44):
Great? Christmas? Good?

Speaker 11 (08:45):
How about fantastic Christmas? Fantastic? It always goes too fast.
It feels like are the children listening to ys today?
My daughter, yes, is not hanging on a word we're saying,
now tony kids. No, the children will miss this one today.
Normally they'd line up and just they sit on the
couch and then and then they go about their day.
But not today.

Speaker 7 (09:02):
We gave him the day off, all right, so now
we can talk Turkey. How much money did you guys
lay out in toys this year?

Speaker 24 (09:08):
Pretty pretty hefty amount. We felt like a little bit
too much.

Speaker 25 (09:11):
My daughter's eight and a half, and so we we
have kind of gotten beyond your parents put it together
toy stage where I have to spend all of Christmas
Day putting stuff together.

Speaker 24 (09:21):
But now everything's more to either my mom or Santa Claus.

Speaker 25 (09:24):
Got my daughter a drone which I was a drone
which I proceeded to almost land in our neighbor's uncovered pool.
So it was almost a very bad Christmas at my house.

Speaker 7 (09:35):
Yeah, does it have a camera?

Speaker 11 (09:36):
It doesn't a camera. It's pretty cools high tech. Yeah, Tony,
what did you do? And what did you do for
the kids? Kids had way too said? It did way
too much. Yeah, especially like on the on the Pike
side of the family. There's not many grandkids either, so
they already get a ton Oh there you go. So
we probably did a little bit too much. Wow. But
in the moment, man, what a day. It was great,

(09:58):
an exciting time, an early day for you guys. Yes,
we got up at six forty five, which is I
think the latest we've gotten up for Christmases.

Speaker 24 (10:08):
Pretty good.

Speaker 11 (10:08):
Holidays seem extremely busy nowadays. They do coming and going.
They do.

Speaker 25 (10:13):
You know what, my my favorite Christmas tradition is, But
go ahead, okay, So what I like to do is
I like to watch Mass from the Vatican on TV
with a libation and my.

Speaker 11 (10:25):
Tree and everybody's in bed and I enjoy that. Wow,
I enjoyed it shade too much this year.

Speaker 25 (10:31):
So six forty five came early, like Mass came Pope
Leo got done with the Mass, and I'm like, you know.

Speaker 7 (10:39):
You received under both species, is what you're saying.

Speaker 24 (10:41):
Yeah, Pope Leo got done with the Mass, and I
didn't go to bed. I should have.

Speaker 7 (10:46):
Oh, they televised Pope Leo doing a man Channel five.

Speaker 25 (10:48):
Yeah, at NBC at eleven thirty. For decades is televised
Mass at after the local.

Speaker 7 (10:55):
Homes downtown here at Saint Peter and change.

Speaker 25 (10:57):
I am sure I should attend, but I want the
Pope give Mass on TV. And it's my favorite Christmas.

Speaker 7 (11:03):
Tradition and that's done by like one o'clock, one fifteen.

Speaker 24 (11:05):
By one o'clock, and I should have been as well.

Speaker 7 (11:07):
And then what about the sermon? Was it in Italian?
Was it in English? Because Leo is you know, one
of those guys man, he speaks in tongues.

Speaker 11 (11:14):
Yeah, so he didn't do it in English, but they
had somebody translated for you.

Speaker 7 (11:18):
Wow, it was nice, unbelievable, cool, like a fresh start
for you. It is what time with the kids up
on seven. That's not bad, that's not bad.

Speaker 11 (11:26):
It's great. It's not terrible. But I'm a Christmas vacation
the night before. Yeah, sit down it was a drink
or two. Sure, Christmas vacation in the quiet. It's great.

Speaker 7 (11:36):
I like a Christmas story. Classic guy that wrote it
used to work here in Cincinnati wl w ws A
I Jean Shepherd, great, great, great writer. But but anyway, yeah,
that's I do that with a leg lamp. Well, I'm
making it. I was up to like one o'clock. Just
I was busier than cat covering up you know what
on a beach. It's all over the place, flower and

(11:56):
things like that.

Speaker 11 (11:57):
Pretty nice.

Speaker 24 (11:57):
Yeah it was.

Speaker 7 (11:58):
I mean I was flowering my hand her flowers.

Speaker 11 (12:01):
Know what that is?

Speaker 7 (12:02):
No, this is the real deal.

Speaker 24 (12:04):
It looks like ginger.

Speaker 7 (12:06):
It is what a spicing nut made it is.

Speaker 24 (12:08):
You could feel the excite for this game today.

Speaker 25 (12:12):
Yeah, but also you think about, like over the last
twenty four hours, the end of the EHL player strike, right,
and then the Reds acquired two guys who are sort
of the new version of Jake Frayley, Will Benson, Jacob
Herdabe's Blake done.

Speaker 11 (12:26):
Massive bill for JJ. Like they tried to hide the moves.
Those are moves you make like on a Monday, Yeah,
those are moves over the week. You have a big
press conference for those sort of moves, you know, so
a lot of excitement, and we don't have to talk
about a Bearcat basketball loss. No, we haven't played in
a long time, so it's better. We'll be here next Sunday.

Speaker 7 (12:45):
Yeah you will, so h so, JJ Blade And who's
the other dude? Dean Dean Myers? Okay, so I I
in high school.

Speaker 24 (12:56):
That's who we had. We had Dean Myers for the boys.

Speaker 7 (13:00):
Really. Yeah, I'm looking for Kyle Tucker right, he's not
in my stock. And I'm listening for Alex Bregman. Not
enough stocking. I was even looking for Ryan O'Hearn. He's
in somebody else's stock.

Speaker 24 (13:11):
What about Peter A Lonzo?

Speaker 11 (13:12):
Who?

Speaker 20 (13:13):
You know what?

Speaker 7 (13:14):
I get the feeling, This is the feeling I get.
Miss town has gone from Kyle Schwarber with an intermittent
stop for Luise Roberts, and now we got JJ.

Speaker 11 (13:22):
I don't want Louise Roberts, I'm telling you, but that's
the way I get it. I get it. JJ is
not from here at all, though.

Speaker 24 (13:29):
JJ Bleda.

Speaker 25 (13:30):
I cannot believe the Reds ticket office isn't manned this morning,
with folks lining up either to be first in line
tomorrow or they open it up today for to go
watch JJ Bleda.

Speaker 7 (13:40):
Yeah. Do you think Terry Francona went into the off
season saying, if we could just get JJ Blade, that
would complete.

Speaker 25 (13:46):
The Terry Francona went into the off season making sure
the Reds had his proper mailing address for the check.

Speaker 7 (13:52):
All right, boys, you know why we're here. We got
to talk about the Bengals and the card Nos no
Titanic effort. Look, and a lot of people are writing
off the Cardinals. I think the Cardinals have written off
the Cardinals. They've played in a lot of close games
this year, even as late as mid October. The games
that they were losing, they're like three points, two points one,

(14:13):
and then they fell off the clip in the middle
of October. But they've had an inordinate amount of injuries.
If they were healthy, I don't think they would be
quite as bad as they are.

Speaker 11 (14:20):
Right, maybe the Reds would be interested in kicking the
tires on Kyler Murray. Well, perhaps not sure if he
wants to keep playing football or not. Perhaps weird year
for Kyler Murray. There have been injuries with the Cardinals.
James Connor went out early in the season. It's this
weird Jacoby Brissette led team again, who's not going to
kill you, but he's not going to lift you and
carry anywhere. But they possess, at least from a receiving standpoint,

(14:42):
the best tight end in football right now in Trey McBride.
That has been a struggle for a lot of Bengal
defenses to cover the tight end, so at least from
that aspect, there are storylines to watch in today's game.

Speaker 25 (14:55):
But Jacoby Brissette makes his one hundredth NFL appearance today,
which is not in significant, you know for a guy
who remember he was the third guy in New England
when when Brady got suspended.

Speaker 24 (15:05):
It's like, man, this guy can't play in the league.

Speaker 11 (15:06):
It's not his one.

Speaker 24 (15:07):
Hundredth start, but it's his one hundredth appearance.

Speaker 25 (15:10):
I think with a team like that, you're always kind
of wondering, like, are they gonna play with one foot
on the plane? However, the weather today is gonna be great,
and so you know, I wonder if that might compel
the Cardinals to show a little bit more life than
one might normally expect.

Speaker 7 (15:26):
Brissett's got to win over the Bengals recently. Doesn't mean
he started for the Patriots last year.

Speaker 24 (15:30):
Last year we won, Yeah, so.

Speaker 7 (15:32):
I mean he's he's a serviceable quarterback, the best player
on their maybe their team, but's certainly on offense is
a tight end. They have a guy on defense who's
not playing. He's heard too that I think the Bengals
really wanted last year in Round one, Walter Nolan, and
then he got Gannon as their head coach. And he's
behaving talking like he's going to be back next year.
So it's not like that team's panicking. I think they

(15:54):
do have. When we talk about Joe Burrow being out
and how catastrophic that is, well, then there's death by
a million paper cuts, which is what they went through
this year.

Speaker 11 (16:03):
We've talked a lot about misdraft opportunities. I think there's
still time, but Marvin Harrison Junior has not really shaped
into I think that wide receiver piece that they were
looking to build around Kyler Murray. They've not been able
to stay healthy at running back. So yeah, they're a
team with I think similar questions and going through a
lot of the same things that the Bengals are. If
you're Kyler Murray. Like, there have been people talking about

(16:26):
baseball with Kyler Murray, and I mean he was a
very good baseball player.

Speaker 25 (16:29):
Ni Crawl's berking up, Nick Krawl. Do we get the
Cardinals to pay most of his salary?

Speaker 11 (16:33):
Probably? Probably?

Speaker 21 (16:35):
It is.

Speaker 11 (16:35):
It's a weird transition. It's a weird time for the Cardinals.
Kyler is not the traditional quarterback when you take the
pocket passers type quarterback. So as you're building a roster,
we always talk about matching the scheme and the roster together.
From a personnel department, you have to make a decision
on Kyler Murray because how you build your team is
vastly different with him or without him.

Speaker 25 (16:56):
And you know, we always talk about how hard it
is in the AFC North. How about the NFC West
where it's like, holy crap. You know, you've got the
La Rams, who are an awesome organization with a great
head coach, the San Francisco forty nine ers with a
guy who should be the Coach of the year, really
well run organization with John Lynch. The Seattle Seahawks might
be the number one seed in the NFC with clearly

(17:16):
they have their head coach. We'll see long term if
they really have their quarterback. But it's that's an uphill
battle in that division when you're facing quarterback uncertainty, uncertainty
with so many of your recent draft choices, and you
might not even be sure if you have the right
head coach.

Speaker 7 (17:32):
Well, I mean, that's what's it at pay Course Stadium today.
From that side of it, From the Bengals side of it,
you know, I think you want to finish out strong.
This whole thing about well, we want to finish strong,
carry the momentum in the next season. That team's not
going to look the same as it did this year,
and mercifully so. But I mean this whole thing about
carrying momentum in and your next game is in nine
months is a bit of a stretch. I think that's

(17:53):
what coaches say to try and get players motivated to play.

Speaker 25 (17:56):
Yeah, I watch this game through my fingers, these next
two through my fingers. Joe Burrow doesn't get hurt. I
do think the last month or so has proven useful
for guys like Miles Murphy, who clearly has ascended later
than we would like. But you look at him and go, Okay,
that's a piece you want here next year. Right, you
would agree with that. You're making a face.

Speaker 7 (18:16):
No, I'll give me another shot. He came alive when
the games didn't matter, and he came alive against teams
that weren't very good. But yeah, I think he bring
him back.

Speaker 24 (18:24):
That's better than not coming alive. Well, so he has
what I'm.

Speaker 7 (18:27):
Saying, Yes, all right, But I think the thing, the
trap you can fall into is the same trap we
fall into with our baseball team. Yes, players come up late.
Oh wow, look at him, He's going to be great
next year. And then next year comes and all of
a sudden, Yeah, but it reverts back to what he
was before he did.

Speaker 25 (18:43):
I think I think we understand. We understand. Whether he
does is a different question. We understand Duke Tobin has
a lot of work in front of him. The work
is made a little bit easier if you don't have
to do nearly as much. So like look at their
offensive line. Their offensive line is played well. Now, that
doesn't mean you don't work on it.

Speaker 24 (19:00):
What happened to you? This is a scrooge? So should
I say anything?

Speaker 25 (19:04):
Can we acknowledge that anybody has played well likes Miles
Murphy has played better, Shamar Stewart is gaining NFL experience.

Speaker 7 (19:11):
What I am screwed?

Speaker 26 (19:13):
I am.

Speaker 24 (19:14):
The offensive line has surrounded in the form.

Speaker 7 (19:16):
My kids called my grandkids started calling me skippy, like,
let me finish.

Speaker 25 (19:21):
So you're trying to find things to pay attention to
here down this stretch. I think these games are useful
for players like Miles Murphy. They've proven useful for Dax Hill.
Their corners on the outside have played better. I think
these games have been useful for Jordan Battle. Now, I
wouldn't use Jordan Battle to preclude me from taking a safety,
but it feels like Jordan Battle at least has a

(19:41):
roster spot next year. So my point being that while
these games have no practical purpose as they relate to
the standings, there are some guys who have used the
second half of the.

Speaker 24 (19:50):
Season to at least earn roles on next year's team.

Speaker 25 (19:54):
Maybe they're not going to be stars, maybe they're not
totally irreplaceable, and none of this clouds fact that Duke
Tobin does have a lot of work to do. But
if you're looking for things to watch, those players over
the last month as they've played out the string have
I think they've taken advantage of that opportunity.

Speaker 11 (20:11):
I think that's the worrisome part though, with a lot
of fans, is that you have to separate the two. Yes,
it's good to see Miles Murphy playing better, it's good
to see the offensive line playing better, but that can't
coincide with saying, Okay, maybe we're not as far off
as we think we are. And I feel like a
lot of fans that's the worry. Last year we were
fed the same thing down the stretch. Well, they just
missed the playoffs that they got in no one would

(20:32):
want to see them. But maybe we don't have to
do much in the offseason because we're closer than we think.
I'm good with Yes, Miles Murphy, meaningful play in time,
Jordan Battle, it's good to see Marius Mims get get
more snaps and the old line come together. But none
of that should leak over to the overhaul that needs
to be done. Especially on the defensive side.

Speaker 25 (20:52):
They need starting caliber players a dtackle, edge rusher, linebackers, safety,
and corner.

Speaker 7 (20:57):
Well, that's that's pretty much other than the individual pieces
there that you're going to bring back because they are
good players and they've played well. But the heavy lifting.
They've got to go through on defense, and I just
don't want them to fall into the trap. Well, well,
look the way he played the last three or four
games of the season. Well, okay, great, Where the hell
was he the first thirty games in his career?

Speaker 11 (21:17):
Sure, no doubt, But there are in life, and I
would say that maybe I'm one of them late bloomers.

Speaker 25 (21:22):
I haven't bloomed yet, but there are late bloomers. And
I guess Miles Murphy, we all wish he would have
performed instantly. It didn't happen. That doesn't necessarily preclude him
from being able to perform better next year.

Speaker 7 (21:38):
I think, I think, I think they've got to see
in competitive circumstances whether or not he's the guy. Unfortunately,
they've run out of competitive circumstances this year. But I'm
not singling him out. It's peppered on that side of
the ball with a lot of players that if you
just say, run it, like I'm reading on Twitter, these
these these these fans, are these so called experts, run

(21:58):
it back, Sign this guy, sign him, sign and you're
a great show.

Speaker 11 (22:01):
Well, he's saying that, have you ever seen some of
these people on Twitter?

Speaker 24 (22:04):
No, I don't follow idiots. I told you this last week.

Speaker 25 (22:07):
I don't follow idiots find me for some reason. Okay,
I don't follow idiots. I think the measured way to
look at it. You know, I'm a measured person is
you go. They need massive help, they have money to spend.
You want me to finish. I just want to got
a break. No, it's gonna make sounds every time I talk. Oh, oh,
my my wife, what have we got here?

Speaker 7 (22:26):
How many times have you complimented yourself in the last
three minutes.

Speaker 24 (22:29):
I haven't complimented myself at all.

Speaker 7 (22:30):
If you're still a late plomber, now, of course you
you've measured You're a well measured person.

Speaker 11 (22:34):
I'm a well measured person. Say something nice about yourself, Tony,
I don't have anything. Wow, that's nothing.

Speaker 7 (22:42):
I think.

Speaker 24 (22:42):
I think to measure nothing.

Speaker 25 (22:44):
I think the measured way to look at it is
you could say, defensively, there's a handful of players, a
handful of players that you are comfortable being on the
team next year, but they need a lot of additions
to them.

Speaker 7 (22:55):
I've been here almost forty years and I've heard that crap. Okay,
so I want to play out on the field. I
want to see a team go out there and on
the seventeenth, eighteenth, whatever week this is, I want to
see them playing not just for a spot on the playoffs,
but for a championship.

Speaker 11 (23:13):
So I think what today was supposed to be. When
the schedule came out, Yeah, schedule came out, it was like, Man, Miami, Arizona,
Cleveland down the stretch. This is a team that should
be vying for hopefully a number one seed. You're thinking of,
you know, getting tickets for the year. I want to
go to this Arizona game because that's going to be
a meaningful football game. Weather's going to be perfect today,
and it's going to be another backdrop of a team
that is playing out the string. And we're talking more

(23:36):
again on tomorrow about draft positioning and what that means
going forward. The fact that you are, you know, the
third consecutive year not making the playoffs, and let's be honest,
last year they really didn't come that close, right, it
was fun down the stretch.

Speaker 25 (23:49):
They didn't want to play some bad quarterbacks. It's a
massive organizational failure. But I just you know, you were
talking about like what's the purpose of these games? Well,
I think there are some players who would tell you
they have used them to their advantage.

Speaker 24 (24:04):
And that's not a that's not a bad thing. I
mean it would be bad.

Speaker 7 (24:08):
It's a bad thing if you fall into that no
question trap, no questions. We're at the Holy Grail. It's

Speaker 7 (24:27):

Did you hear those words?

Speaker 24 (24:30):
Yeah, you're gonna go home and watch them?

Speaker 7 (24:33):

Speaker 11 (24:33):

thirty seven hundred w WELW What is at stake today
for Bengals players? Now we're two games to go and
then a long off season. Barrett Carter, rookie lineback HU
he was asked about that in the Bengals locker room
this week, and here is what he had to say.

Speaker 52 (36:10):
The season hasn't gone what any of us, you know,
wanted or expected. But now we can't change the past,
but you know, we can do something about the future.
So we have two opportunities left, two opportunities at home
just to finish this thing off strong, finish off the
right way, and just try to get.

Speaker 22 (36:25):
Us some momentum going into the next season.

Speaker 52 (36:27):
So we have a big opportunity this weekend versus Cardinals,
and now it's just another opportunity to play the game
that we love.

Speaker 7 (36:32):
So Barrett Carter, Demetrius Knight Junior, do you run that
back next year or do you have to go out
and look for LB one.

Speaker 11 (36:42):
I think, like most said in the first segment, you
you have to get starting caliber players at the linebacker level.
You're you're not a serious title contender. To be honest,
if you're running out Barrett Carter and Demetrius Knight in
the middle of your defense.

Speaker 7 (36:56):
Why was that done in the first place?

Speaker 11 (36:58):
That's that to me is one of the biggest qustionn
marks because if there's one thing that I'm going to
lean towards Al Golden's expertise on he got a back
last week, that defense played pretty well for good or
can still be taken out. It can be taken away.
It's not a series basis, but it's he was a
linebacker coach before he left here. You would think if
there's any position that he's good at identifying the talent

(37:21):
of who he wants in the middle of his defense,
it would be linebacker. And you use two high draft
picks and it feels like you missed on both of them.
And there are other options that are out there that
we've we talked about leading up to the draft. They're
not starting caliber NFL linebackers. If they come in and
play on specialty downs, great, If they're out there every

(37:43):
single down, you're not a serious contending.

Speaker 7 (37:46):
Defense or in Burks, they still got him right.

Speaker 11 (37:49):
That was a big pick up.

Speaker 7 (37:50):
Yeah, Now, here's the problem. We talked about this in
the first half hour. I think they're going to have
like one hundred million in cap space something like that
is projected. They don't always spend that. I mean, I
mean they always It just seems like they think at
times they're the smartest people in the room, and we're
gonna get this guy, and we're gonna make him that.
We're gonna grab that guy. And I know he's got
this going on, but we can fix that. It's just

(38:12):
just get If there's a guy out there and I
don't know who they are, the list will be out
here shortly as to who's most likely to be a
free agent, who will stay with his team, who whatever?
Identify it day one minute, one go get the guy.

Speaker 25 (38:25):
Well, I think one of the things I'm interested in
is when it comes to evaluating college players, if they
if they lean more in, if they lean more on
what's on tape instead of the measurables. Now that's more
of a Shamar Stewart thing, but you know that he
was at the epicenter of well, God, you know, look
at what the tape measure says. And I was more

(38:47):
interested in what the tape said and what the tape
said was, dude never gets to the quarterback.

Speaker 24 (38:51):
Is there a shift in that thinking.

Speaker 25 (38:54):
Where you go, Okay, we need dudes who, when we
watch them on film, make plays and forget what their
three cone is, forget what they look like in their underwear.
When we watch them play football, do they make plays?
Dimitrius Knight's gonna be twenty six years old next year.
I mean twenty six years old. There's a very good
chance he has gotten as good as he is ever
gonna get. Barrett Carter was not NFL caliber, forget starting caliber.

(39:18):
At one point, Demitrius Knight and Barrett Carter, and this
still may be the case, were the two lowest rated
players at their respective positions according to Pro Football Focus.
I'm gonna guess both guys are Bengals next year.

Speaker 24 (39:30):
But I don't know how.

Speaker 25 (39:31):
If you're al Golden Linebacker whisper, you look at those
players and go, let's run it back.

Speaker 24 (39:36):
And look, they do have money to spend.

Speaker 25 (39:39):
They can't spend it as wildly as they did in
twenty twenty, but they have seen the positive impact that
free agents can make on their defense. It got them
to a super Bowl. Now it wasn't necessarily a linebacker
per se. But Trey Hendrickson, Shoudobie Woozier, Mike Hilton von Bell,
they acquired BJ Hill and what was a great trade
they got Larry Ogunjobi. Like they have seen firsthand in

(40:02):
that front office the value in adding established NFL players.
None of those guys were stars when they came here.
DJ Reider was not a star when he came here.
Trey Hendrickson was not a star when he came here.
He became one. Choudobi A Woozier wasn't a star when
he came here. A lot of people wanted them to
keep William Jackson the third Instead they swapped him out
for Cherdobi A Woozier. I would find it to be

(40:24):
almost comical if we get to April and we start
to really focus in on the draft and they haven't
added an experienced linebacker. If that's the case, then this
franchise is impossible to take seriously.

Speaker 7 (40:38):
Hey, I mean linebacker safety. I mean we all know
the situation there with Gino Stone.

Speaker 11 (40:45):
And so do they.

Speaker 7 (40:46):
They asked to take a pay cut, and they've got
an issue with defensive tackle where they've drafted guys that
don't contribute, and you know, even a guy like bj Hill,
the threads wearing a little thin on that tire. So
it's just I mean, that's why say there's so much there.
My question to the guests I've had on my show
the last couple of weeks is can you fix all

(41:06):
of that in one off season? And I suppose you
could if you commit to doing business different than the
way you have done it in the past. And I'm
not sure that commitment is there.

Speaker 11 (41:15):
You committed to moving on from Lou Roumo and bringing
it out Golden, when you made that commitment, was it
you're gonna have to make it happen with these players,
or is there a legitimate conversation of you tell us
what you need and we're gonna go get it because
that's the only way this thing becomes successful. It's the
same conversation. I'm sure if you go back, we sat
up here last year at this time of the year

(41:36):
and talked about it doesn't make sense at times that
the scheme and the personnel match. You can't tell me,
in Al Golden's defense, that Demitrius Knight and Barrett Carter
are the best pieces to be successful and try to
win a Super Bowl? So is there a disconnect? Again,
we're asking the same question. This goes back to Duke Tobin.
Is there a disconnect between the players that can be

(41:57):
successful in the scheme that this team is trying to
run on offense and defense versus the players that they're
identifying as draft picks.

Speaker 7 (42:03):
Unless Al Goland said when he was hired, Yeah, I
can make it work for those guys.

Speaker 11 (42:07):
Yeah, I want the job.

Speaker 7 (42:09):
I'm wondering about. Well, Al Goldan said he can make
that work. And what do we got two rookie linebackers
and a guy at safety that barely has enough wheels
to get from his house to the stadium. I mean
needed a pay cut. Yeah, that's why I say. I
mean they rolled the dice on the coaches and they
didn't roll the dice on the players. Why would Golden
accept this position here other than it's an NFL job,

(42:31):
which he had once before and now he's the coordinator.
But why would he take it if there were no, no,
nothing that was going to be done different.

Speaker 11 (42:37):
What they did at linebacker was mystifying because all off
season you heard you know, Al Golden's worked with Logan
Wilson before, and he's going to bring out the best
to Logan Wilson, and the dude was gone midway through
the season.

Speaker 25 (42:48):
This is a cheap labor league. This league is about
two things, stars and cheap labor. The middle class player
doesn't matter nearly as much anymore. Cheap labor are your rookies.
Cheap labor are your draft choices. On one hand, you
could say, well, God, you know what, the twenty twenty
three draft class has worked out pretty well in twenty
twenty five. The twenty twenty six draft class needs to

(43:09):
pay dividends in twenty twenty six. By the way, Duke
Tobin said that going into last year's draft, because you
remember we all said at the end of March, like, God,
they didn't do anything in free agency, and Duke's like,
uh huh. In the draft, we're gonna get guys who
can make an immediate impact that didn't happen. You have
to draft players. With the way the league is structured now,
you have to draft players, multiple players who step in

(43:31):
and give you immediate help. Immediate help until that changes,
the results are gonna be limited. I also think you
hit the EJEC button on players quicker than you ever have.
So you look at the Barrett Carter and go, you
know what, we took him in the fourth round. We
gave him a shot and hasn't worked. Are we really
gonna put our fortunes on him next year? No, you
gotta go find somebody else. What they have to do

(43:54):
this offseason. I know I talked last segment about Miles
Murphy and guys like that, but they need starting caliber
players at every level of the defense. I don't know
that in one offseason suddenly you're gonna go, boy, the
defense of the three technique's been fixed. Edge rusher has
been fixed, linebacker's been fixed, safety's been fixed.

Speaker 24 (44:15):
They have enough depth at corner, which you can never
have enough. That's a lot.

Speaker 25 (44:19):
It's impossible say what you want about free agency. It's
impossible to achieve all those things if you don't find
rookies who next year can make an immediate impact.

Speaker 11 (44:28):
But you also want if that's the case, you also
you have to bring in guys. And I know we've
talked so much about Joe Burrow and what he had
to say. You need to operate in the sense of
what Joe Burrow was talking about and what Joe Burrow
wants to do. And I think that's why you look
at a guy like Barrett Carter and it's okay, maybe
in past years, let's ride it out for a year.

Speaker 24 (44:46):
Two.

Speaker 11 (44:47):
It's very evident that there was a push or a
message being sent from Joe Burrow. Do we really have
time to waste another year of Joe Burrow's career waiting
for guys to develop. No, it's win now mode Joe
Burrow's career for the Cincinnati Bengals, and they have to
operate in that sense in the offseason.

Speaker 7 (45:04):
And as several other players too. Sure you, Tony, you
played the game wide receivers. I mean what Jamar Chase
has done so far, that's not going to continue. Odd infinitum.
We've seen what happened to wide receivers in this league.
So it's Burrow on top of Chase and on top
of higgins An. Players get older and they wear down. Yep,
I've got to get to this.

Speaker 24 (45:24):
What was that odd infinitum?

Speaker 7 (45:25):
Odd infinitum?

Speaker 18 (45:27):
Cool?

Speaker 7 (45:27):
That means out into the future with an I'm gonna
start using that.

Speaker 24 (45:31):
I'm gonna work that into my vernacular.

Speaker 7 (45:33):
Well, because you're a well defined man, time to look
at who's hot in the NFL b by plumb, tight
fast response time, no service fees Tony. Who's hot in
the NFL right now?

Speaker 11 (45:44):
A team that I think a lot of people would
look at maybe as a Super Bowl contender, the Jacksonville Jaguars.
You talk about a new head coach that has gotten
the most out of his team. They have an identity.
Trevor Lawrence is playing his best football since becoming a
profe quarterback. I just think they are the epitome right

(46:04):
now of a team that takes on the leadership of
their head coach and how much a coach can make
a difference in year number one. It's also a good defense.
They're really good against the run. That's a hard team
to play against. In A team in a wide open
AFC that I think has a chance.

Speaker 25 (46:19):
A team you'll watch tonight. Chicago and San Francisco. Two
great play callers, Ben Johnson and Kyle Shanahan. The forty
nine Ers have won five straight games, all of them
by double digits. They've played without Fred Warner, who I
guess has a chance to come back, Nick Bosa, George
Kittle has missed time. They've used two different quarterbacks. They're
eleven and four. John Lynch is a great GM, Kyle

(46:40):
Shanahan is a great coach, and.

Speaker 7 (46:42):
My guess is they spend pretty damn close to the
cap money they've got on it.

Speaker 11 (46:45):
Absolutely honorable mention to the team we saw last night,
the Houston Texans. Yes, playing extremely, extremely good football as well.

Speaker 7 (46:52):
If defense can carry you to a championship, yeah, that
team's got a show.

Speaker 25 (46:56):
Can you talk about a guy who just looks like
he'd be awesome to play for, Tamiko Ryan, Yeah, with
the Texans, Like who just I you can overstate these
things sometime, but I watched his post game address to
his players, like, there are just certain coaches where you're like,
Dan Campbell's one of them. The Lions have overachieved this year,
but there are certain coaches you look at and go, man,

(47:17):
that dude must be a blast to play for. He
seems like he's one of them.

Speaker 7 (47:21):
One other thing I'd like to get to them all.
I'll let you take the lead on that. The delivery
of the game from last week courtesy of RNL Carriers.
Visit ORLC dot com and make RNL Carriers your global

Speaker 24 (47:33):
The third quarter by Chase Brown, three touchdowns.

Speaker 7 (47:37):
Very nice.

Speaker 25 (47:37):
Chase Brown needs one hundred and fifty four yards for
one thousand yards as a rusher this season. It's one
hundred and twenty five yards away from equaling his yards
from scrimmage total last year. He was awesome last week.
The Bengals offense was really good last week. Tony and
I have talked before. You know, you go back to
the Baltimore game and kind of felt like they forgot
they had Chase Brown they didn't last week.

Speaker 11 (47:57):
Three TVs in the third quarter, I'll combine them all.
That's the delivery of the game. I'll go someone that
didn't have to play last week and no one would
about it. An I butt T Higgins comes back from
multiple concussions, not only comes back, but he sets the
tone early in the game with the touchdown pass from
Joe Burrow. I'll go T Higgins again in a game
where if if before the game is like T Higgins
is out, no one would have questioned anything. That's probably

smart anything out there playing in a meetingless game.

(54:05):
it's the official whiskey of the Bengals bringing the spirit
to every game this season. Who is the performer of
the week, Tony Joe.

Speaker 11 (54:14):
Burrow bouncing back, having fun playing football again. Welcome sight,
spreading the ball around to a lot of different targets.
You saw the vintage Burrow on the past to Drew
sample where he went across his body. Jamar Chase goes
up over the century mark. Again. They do need to
get Jamar Chase back into the end zone. I think
what October sixteenth or somewhere around there since his last touchdown.

(54:34):
But you know, everyone was dialed in on what Joe
Burrow was going to look like in that game against
the Dolphins, and I think you walk away from that
feeling very good about where number nine is.

Speaker 25 (54:45):
Okay, we got to take a break from the psychoanalysis
of Joe Burrow, which was a Yes, it was a
welcome respite because he played well, said he's having fun.
It was bittersweet to watch because I think when he
is at his best, when he's healthy, he is the
best at the mechanics of playing quarterback in the NFL.
We saw him look totally checked out against Baltimore last week.

(55:09):
He was the exact opposite against the Miami Dolphins. But
you watched him and he said, this is what it
should look like. This is what it can look like.
It's frustrating beyond belief that it occurs in a game
that has no real meaning.

Speaker 7 (55:21):
Did you say toetally totally yes, yeah, Well, speaking of
Joe Burrow's tow here now the quarterback on the status of.

Speaker 59 (55:31):
That, it feels good.

Speaker 60 (55:34):
Certainly, not as mobile as I have been in the past,
but mobile enough to make a couple of plays every game.
Certainly not going to make a living doing it right now,
but I've been able to be effective in spots.

Speaker 7 (55:47):
The fact that he came back from that as quickly
as he did speaks for itself. You know, I was
driving here today, you know, I think of things too.
When I drove, I drove, yes, eh, and I was
thinking about just all he has worked through his career
from not just you know, the app and dectomy and
then the knee and all the things he's worked through
the wrist and then this, and I you know, he

(56:09):
probably has got more miles on him than he would
care too, but it's still kind of amazing when you
step back and you look at him, whether or not
you're upset with the team and the way the season
went for what they're not doing in other positions, you
step back for a minute and you look at what
he's had to work through, and it's astounding Tony.

Speaker 11 (56:26):
And for all of those reasons.

Speaker 7 (56:28):
That's why.

Speaker 11 (56:28):
And the last thing you said the same thing. You
got to go all in for now. You cannot bank
on three four years down the road or a long
term plan. Now, you've got to go in now. You've
got to open up this super Bowl window again. I mean,
think of where the two franchises were after the Super
Bowl ended, and you're thinking, man, Rams won it, but

(56:49):
Bengals will be back because the Rams mortgaged everything. And
here we are talking about the Rams one or two
seed in the NFC. They're all the way back, and
the Bengals are a year of missing the playoffs. It's
fascinating how quick the Rams have got back to that
Super Bowl contending team around Matthew Stafford and the Bengals
trending in the wrong direction.

Speaker 25 (57:10):
You've got him under contract for four more years, you've
wasted the last three. That is a massive organizational failure.
As as much as I'm over parsing every Joe Burrow
syllable to figure out where his head is, you don't
want to be where the Bengals are a year from
now and have Joe Burrow at the podium. You know

(57:31):
when he's going to be thirty years old, and I'm
sure he's already talked about like his football mortality, which
I'm sure all the injuries compel you to think about.

Speaker 24 (57:40):
Can you imagine this team.

Speaker 25 (57:41):
Is on the outside looking in again and he's not
getting a chance to compete for a championship again, and
maybe he's dealt with another injury again. Can you imagine
what that's gonna look and sound like? And if nothing else,
I think the way the last three weeks have played
out have been a warning do not put him in
a position where he's having to continue to talk about

(58:02):
how the organization has wasted his prime.

Speaker 7 (58:06):
It is funny, though, if you listen to the comments
the last couple of weeks and then see the reaction
around the league, not necessarily from other executives unless they're unnamed,
but the blood in the water about well, there is
Joe want out, and all of a sudden, now it's
a feeding frenzy on these websites that are looking for clickbait.
I saw one, it was yesterday, I think, on CBS

(58:27):
Sports and they had one unnamed AFC executive. Well, if
you call the Bengals, the conversation begins with two first
round draft picks, and I'm like, the conversation begins with
Mike Brown hanging up on you because.

Speaker 11 (58:39):
How that conversation because as he should? You're calling about
who as he should? Some people have taken this story
and been irresponsible with it. There's there's no getting around that.
But where the Bengals are right now is not good.
They're wasting their meal ticket.

Speaker 25 (58:58):
If that continues, why would Joe Burrowden not start to
think about, God, maybe I would be better elsewhere and
maybe that comes when his contract expires. Maybe that doesn't
come in the form of demanding a trade or asking
for retirement, but temph fate sit here in a year
with the Bengals at five and ten and then imagine
where the conversation is going to go as it relates

(59:20):
to the career and the contract status of their quarterback.

Speaker 7 (59:24):
Well, these are the kinds of questions we raise hypothetically
to see exactly what maybe, but we know what is
And it's five and ten and it's the Bengals against
the three win Arizona team coming up here in about
three hours at pay Course Stadium. If you're coming to
the game, stop by the Holy Grail, my goodness. If
you got tickets for this game, and you're saying to yourself,
I don't know if I want to go knock on

inside an NFL game, regardless of where teams are, is

Starting off this morning in the upper forties with some
off and on light rain, and that will persist throughout
the majority of our Sunday as temperatures will be very warm,
topping out in the upper sixties. Big cold front moves

colder air, and maybe even a few flurries for your

This game day forecast built by American Home Tech storm
Ready Roofs built the last American Home Tech dot com.
One person was left injured after a car crashed into
a church in Hyde Park overnight. That accident happened at
Saint Mary Church on Erie Avenue around two in the morning.
Reporters with WLWT say the largest amount of damage done
on church property was to the front stairs. One person

(01:03:24):
in the car was taken to the hospital after injuring
their head. It's not known if they were the driver
or not. The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
In the meantime, Cincinnati police are looking into a shooting
in Hyde Park that happened around the same time. At
gunfire rang out around two am at a home on
Kenton Street. The victims suffered a gunshot, wounded the leg,
and was taken to the hospital. No arrests have been made,

(01:03:45):
but police do say they have a possible suspect. Over
thirty people have now been forced from their homes following
an apartment fire in Harrison Township Saturday night that broke
out just before eight o'clock at the complex off of
Tall Oak Circle. No people were injured in the fire,
but Sponder said multiple pets were killed. The Red Cross
is now assisting those who have been displaced. No whord

Ludlow Avenue, including Sitwell's Coffee House, Adrian Durbin Flores, a

register was stolen and later recovered, but the money inside
was gone, along with a security camera. Business owners say

surveillance from nearby buildings may help investigators. Employees in the
area say this is not the first break in recently,
raising concerns about a growing pattern. I'm Travis Laird, News

How about that generosity? It sounds to me holiday season. Well,

He wants to give me tickets.

I think he wants to give them A you and I, Oh,

Thank you. Michael.

Speaker 11 (01:10:41):
So you what's your answer?

Speaker 25 (01:10:43):
You can hang with the people that you you know,
the upper one percent in the club that you associate with.

Speaker 7 (01:10:47):
My answer is I'm seventy three and I only commit
to the day.

Speaker 11 (01:10:50):
Okay, very good.

Speaker 24 (01:10:51):
Well that is very cool of Mike.

Speaker 7 (01:10:53):
Do we have that so weekend answer? Michael back? Yeah, okay,
you and me at the club be fun? Now what
happens at club seats? I've never really sat in in
a place like that.

Speaker 24 (01:11:02):
You know, I sit in the upper deck with common fans.

Speaker 7 (01:11:05):
Well, I'm sitting in the end zone. Apparently today I
was told I was told it was section four twenty
four oh two or whatever the hell it is. But
what do you do with club seats? You like, you
sit there and people bring you food or I think?
So are you inside a box?

Speaker 11 (01:11:18):
I don't you know, that's not that's not my domain.
I've never I've never sat I've never been in a
club seat for a Bengals game.

Speaker 7 (01:11:24):
I've been in a press box. Now that's nice. It
is because you're with the the media.

Speaker 25 (01:11:30):
But everybody's whiny about the the game with the overtime
and it wants to go there.

Speaker 7 (01:11:34):
Yeah, oh yeah, that's kind of neat.

Speaker 24 (01:11:37):
That's me.

old Spotlight?

Speaker 11 (01:11:54):
I said it earlier a little bit Jamar Chase, and
not because the the numbers haven't been there, but he
even talked about it this week, wanting to get in
the end zone. Yeah, needing to get back in the
end zone. It's been since mid October since Jamar Chase
has scored a touchdown. Now, he has still impacted the
game in many different ways, multiple one hundred yard plus
receiving days on the year. But Jamar Chase getting back

(01:12:17):
in the end zone is something that is obviously important
to him, and I would imagine if Joe Burrow hears that,
they make it a point to connect as well.

Speaker 24 (01:12:24):
Today Tony called him the best tight end in the NFL.

Speaker 25 (01:12:26):
Trey McBride one hundred and nine catches, nearly eleven hundred yards,
ten tds. He's had ten games this year where they
have targeted him ten times or more. They're gonna target
him a lot today, So Barrett Carter, Demetrius Knight, Gino Stone, Uh,
you're gonna be in the spotlight today. So Trey mcbri,
They're they're not gonna shy away from throwing him the football.

(01:12:49):
You're gonna see a lot of Trey McBride. Can the
Bengals tackle him? I'm not so much worried about them
covering him. He's gonna get his catches. Can they minimize
the damage by tackling him?

Speaker 7 (01:12:58):
Well? Speaking of Trey McBride, Okay, here is this quarterback,
Jacoby Brissett speaking about the orfense, the the tight end
that I think he might be the highest paid tight
end in the NFL. I might be mistaken on that,
but anyway, here is Jacoby Brissett on Trey McBride.

Speaker 11 (01:13:14):
But he wants to win.

Speaker 65 (01:13:16):
You know, he's he's a smart fotball player, so when
he comes to the sideline, he understands how teams are
play against him, how they're trying to take him away,
and you know, and we and I think Drew does
a good job of combat and that and kind of
giving him different ways to get open and and then
it comes down to him just making the plays, which
he he does it more times than not.

Speaker 11 (01:13:31):
What makes him so good a great athlete, I mean
route running wise elite, but it's kind of that new
mold of tight ends. Like if you've watched enough of
Travis kelce Travis Kelcey doesn't run many routes. He just
kind of gets to the open space and the more
and more now when you talk about past catching tight ends,
that's what I think about. He doesn't run you know,

(01:13:52):
generic route tree stuff out slant and like he's just
gonna find the open area. And he's on a good
enough page now with Jacobe Brissett that can do that.
And outside of that elite athleticism as well.

Speaker 25 (01:14:04):
You see him and he he'll sometimes like back into
an open area. Yeah, like he'll turn toward the quarterback.
And Travis Kelsey does this too, but he'll just sort
of like turn to the quarterback and just slide his body.

Speaker 24 (01:14:14):
He's not running a route.

Speaker 25 (01:14:15):
There's the open area, get me the Football's got good hands,
loudes tackles.

Speaker 7 (01:14:19):
Why oh, Zach Taylor is impressed with him. Here's Zach
on Trade this way.

Speaker 66 (01:14:23):
I think Trade McBride is a phenomenal tight end. You know,
they they use him really all the ways we try
to get Jamar the ball. You know, you see that
from Trey. He's not gonna line up outside the numbers
necessarily and run the full route tree out there, but
he'll put him out there and kind of the way
you see Ertz use in Philly a little bit, try
to get some matchups. And his Colorado State tape was

(01:14:45):
full of these middle screens. I'd never really seen a
tight end catch before and blow and behold. They're they're
using him like crazy on that. So they're just trying
to find a way to get in the ball every
which way imaginable. They do a great job of it
covered or uncovered. He's got really strong hands. He's a
really physical run, violent runner. One of a really impressive
impressive players.

Speaker 7 (01:15:03):
In this league. What about what about their wide receivers
then if there, I would imagine he's going to get
most of the attention from the Bengals defense what about
Marvin Harrison Junior and Michael Wilson.

Speaker 11 (01:15:13):
Michael Wilson's been good in the absence of Marvin Harrison Junior.
I just again I mentioned with Harrison earlier. I just
don't think he's translated to the NFL like they hope
he would. Because you think about starting to build a
round a guy like Trey McBride that should give you
favorable matchups on the outside. They've not been able to
capitalize on that. It is unique, Karon Zach Taylor talk
about Trey McBride of not just a guy you can

(01:15:34):
just take out of the game by double team. Oh
how about that? Alli, So they do a good job
of scheming him open. Oh, in a lot of different ways.
What a novel concept. I like that concept.

Speaker 25 (01:15:44):
The Bengals corners are playing well Dax Hill. They have
finally found a home for him. Maybe a little bit
too little, too late, but last four games he's given
up just fifty six yards receiving. It's gonna be interesting
to see is he with Michael Wilson, Is he with
Marvin Harrison?

Speaker 24 (01:15:58):
Where does DJ Turner go? It's an interesting matchup.

Speaker 25 (01:16:01):
But again, if you're if you're Jacoby Brissett, a backup quarterback.

Speaker 11 (01:16:06):
You are thinking, I am throwing the football.

Speaker 25 (01:16:08):
I am gonna do with Trey McBride what Joe Flacco
did with Jamar Chase against Pittsburgh where he throwed to him.

Speaker 24 (01:16:13):
Twenty three times. No joke. That might be the number
of targets that Trey McBride gets today.

Speaker 7 (01:16:19):
And welcome back to Cincinnati. A keeen Davis Jither oh
Man and Corey Kiner.

Speaker 25 (01:16:24):
All right, welcome about Corey Kiner, big Corey Kiner guy. Yeah,
but a keen Davis Gaither start on this defense. Davis
Gaylor the best player on his defense. I'm rooting like
hell for Corey Kiner. That's one of the best dudes
I've been around. Roger Bacon High School, University of Cincinnati,
a transfer from LSU and had a heck of a
career as a Bearcad.

Speaker 24 (01:16:45):
I really like hell for him.

Speaker 7 (01:16:46):

on what happened today in Cincinnati sports?

Speaker 24 (01:23:30):
A lot of things happened on this date in Cincinnati
sports history.

Speaker 11 (01:23:33):
Are you ready here.

Speaker 25 (01:23:34):
So on this date in nineteen fifty seven, the Reds
traded Ted Klezuski to the Pirates for first baseman d Fondi,
who would go on to hit one home run in
eighty nine games the following year. Covered from that nick crawl,
that's the temple that he used. It's like, man, we
need more of those Defondi type days. See a local guy.
Uh no, okay, I did look it up.

Speaker 7 (01:23:54):
He wound up leading the Skyliners to their nineteen sixty
one hit You Belong to Me.

Speaker 58 (01:24:00):
Wow.

Speaker 24 (01:24:00):
It was on this date.

Speaker 25 (01:24:01):
In nineteen seventy five, Paul Brown stalked the sideline for
the final time as head coach. Bengals lost their Divisional
round playoff game to the Raiders thirty one to twenty eight.

Speaker 7 (01:24:12):
Put Ken Stabler's numbers up again, Ken Anderson's numbers in
that game. Virtually the same guy put their career numbers
up against each other. Virtually the same guy. Stablers in
the Hall of Fame. Anderson is not the power of
a cool nickname in the Super Bowl ring, That's right.

Speaker 24 (01:24:26):
Was on this date. In nineteen seventy.

Speaker 25 (01:24:28):
Nine, the Bengals replaced Homer Rice with Forrest greg as
head coach.

Speaker 7 (01:24:32):
Ober Rice from right over here in northern Kentucky for
Thomas was.

Speaker 25 (01:24:35):
On this date in two thousand and three, the Bengals
postseason hopes were thwarted by the Browns. Despite two rushing
touchdowns by Rudy Johnson, Cleveland beat the Bengals at Paul
Brown Stadium twenty two to fourteen.

Speaker 7 (01:24:47):
Lee Suggs twenty six carries, one hundred eighty six yards,
two touchdowns. What was the Bengal highlight of that day?
I have no idea Corey Dyllon throwing a short.

Speaker 25 (01:24:57):
Stands it was on this date in In fourteen, the
Bengals fail in their quest to become AFC Noor champions
with a regular season ending twenty seven to seventeen loss
to the Steelers in Pittsburgh. Bengals would go on to
lose the following week in the wild card round Indie.
One year later, on this date, in twenty fifteen, Bengals,

(01:25:19):
with Aj McCarron playing quarterback, race out to a fourteen
nothing lead on the road against the Broncos, only to
lose in overtime twenty to seventeen. A lot of positives
today it was one year ago today against the Denver Broncos.
Bengals keep their playoff hopes alive with a stirring thirty
to twenty four walk off overtime went over the Broncos.

(01:25:42):
T Higgins with the late game heroics. Such a fun
one to keep the patient breathing for one more week.

Speaker 7 (01:25:49):
Fifty five years ago today, in nineteen seventy in Madison, Wisconsin,
the Cincinnati Royals played the Milwaukee Bucks. Bucks won the
game one thirty seven, one fourteen. Why is that year significant?
Seventy seventy one.

Speaker 24 (01:26:05):
Oscar won a title with the Bucks.

Speaker 7 (01:26:07):
Did not play in that game, but that was his
first year in Milwaukee road management. Roy Low could have
been no yet, you know. Actually he had. He had
groin problems that year, seriously. It hampered him. But Kareem
dropped twenty nine on them, along with twenty three rebounds.
On this date, in nineteen seventy five, at what is
now Heritage Bank Center, Cincinnati Stingers four the Indianapol Indianapolis

(01:26:31):
Racers won. Seventy two hundred people enjoyed that. And on
this date, in nineteen hundred and fifty eight, the greatest
football game ever played occurred. It was the first COVID
time win in playoff history because it was the first
overtime game in NFL playoff history. Colts twenty three, Giants seventeen.

(01:26:52):
There were seventeen, seventeen future Hall of Famers on the field.
I think Bob Wolf called that game the iconic Bob
Wolf Wolf that's right, Yeah, sports casting legend. So did
Marty Glickman. Yeah, play he was a play by play
guy for the Giants. Nobody knows who Bob Wolf for
Marty Glickman besides you, me and Dan Horde.

Speaker 24 (01:27:12):
We're broadcasting nerds.

Speaker 7 (01:27:13):
But nevertheless, that was a significant day in Nflit.

Speaker 24 (01:27:16):
The Yankee Stadium.

Speaker 7 (01:27:17):
Correct, It's in the Yankee Stadium where the goal posts
were right on the goal line, so when essence, your
defense had two extra players on the field.

Speaker 25 (01:27:24):
Because you would see highlights of like dudes running routes
the post.

Speaker 7 (01:27:30):
That was called a post route. Man, Man, I get
to one more thing here, because we have Least Stirling
standing by at the bottom of the end of course,
and I want to know what piece is important today,
because as we know, every piece is important to a
football team. And by the way, it's brought to you
by Donado's where every piece is important. Donados is the

(01:27:52):
official pizza of your Cincinnati Bengals, Tony, As you look
at the Bengals and if they were a pizza, where
were the most significant piece of Pepperoni? B with his
team today?

Speaker 11 (01:28:03):
You know mull outline the defensive matchup with Trey McBride
for Demitrius Knight, Barrett Carter or Gino Stone. I would say,
you know another thing you alluded to watching kind of
through your hands to make sure Joe Burrow gets through
these last two weeks. Yeah, the one thing that can
throw that off those blind side hits, I'll go Orlando
Brown Junior today. I think everyone, if you talked about

(01:28:25):
the offensive line, feels good about Marius Mems Yeah, probably
feel good about what Dalton Reisner has been in, Dylan
Fairchiud and Ted Carris. I think a lot of people
would say right now, the biggest question of the weakest
link would be left tackle. Yes, you cannot allow again
down the stretch today or next week against Cleveland. You
can't have some miss assignments or miss blocks from Orlando
Brown Junior that could result in devastation for this team

(01:28:48):
going forward.

Speaker 25 (01:28:49):
I think the Orlando Brown conversation is interesting because I
think there's a case that could be made that Marius
Mims could be moved to left tackle here very soon.
Orlando Brown at times this year has looked more unathletic
than usual times.

Speaker 24 (01:29:05):
He's been a statue.

Speaker 25 (01:29:06):
Look, he's at a very good NFL career, but yeah,
he's And this is as much a statement about the
rest of the offensive line as it is an indictment
against Orlando Brown.

Speaker 24 (01:29:18):
He's kind of the guy that next year. You're like, man,
I'm not so sure.

Speaker 7 (01:29:21):
Yeah, my favorite player on the Bengals plays on the
offensive line, Ted Carris. I tell you what I want
that guy. That guy looked like he looks like he
would be a perfect neighbor to have.

Speaker 11 (01:29:33):
I'll say this about that dude.

Speaker 25 (01:29:35):
You know he is their Walter Payton Man of the
Year winner for the second consecutive year. Ken You've seen it, Tony,
You've seen it. A lot of athletes come to town
and they get involved. Some do so quietly, some do
so just with their money, some do so with their time.
I've not seen anybody wrap their arms around a community
at a position that is relatively anonymous the way Ted

(01:29:57):
Carris has it's it's been something to watch, and it,
by all accounts, comes from a very genuine place. He
rolls his hands up and gets involved in the initiatives
that he promotes. The since he had thing has spread
like wildfire, wildfire, and he's been a good player. But
just in terms of impact here in town. What an acquisition, easy,

(01:30:18):
easy guy to root for.

Speaker 7 (01:30:19):
I got a since he hat in my car. I
got an orange one black says, since I got a
black and red one that my daughter stole black and red,
black and red. I would I would? I? You know,
I wanted to wear the orange one a lot. Yeah,
but I don't have anything else orange, And I think
people would confuse that. They would think it would be
like an extension of my hair if I were that. Okay,
so I wear it sparingly but proudly. You think people

(01:30:41):
will see a hat on your head and think it's
your hair? Well from a distance, yeah, similar, you could tell, right, Yep,
I get it. I understand it's coming up on ten.
Get a play to your strengths. That's right.

Speaker 24 (01:30:53):
Nobody confuses my head for a hat.

Speaker 7 (01:30:55):
I did a story about guys like you yesterday when
I was filling in like, what does that mean. I'll
tell you any everybody knows that's a tease. No, I
mean you obviously don't you shave your head.

Speaker 24 (01:31:07):
Right every five days?

Speaker 7 (01:31:08):
Every five days?

Speaker 11 (01:31:09):
Tonight it's a head shaving night. Great, what was the story?
The story is is that and it's not a bad story.

Speaker 7 (01:31:17):
Yeah, it's just there are a lot of guys that
want to have hair restoration that are getting on plate
and flying to Turkey.

Speaker 24 (01:31:23):
Oh yeah, that sounds gone.

Speaker 7 (01:31:25):
For four thousand, I had the number one hair restoration
during the country on with me.

Speaker 25 (01:31:30):
I don't know anything about the country of Turkey, but
I know that general region is sometimes a little shaky. Well,
I gotta fly halfway around the world, go to a
part of the globe that is that is a little
unstable just to get hair.

Speaker 7 (01:31:43):
That was the story. That was the story. The story was,
you don't have to do that. There's a better option
in Fort Lauderdale.

Speaker 25 (01:31:50):
Okay, I like Fort Lauderdale. But if I'm going to
Fort Lauderda, I'm going to the elbow room. I'm not
getting hair.

Speaker 7 (01:31:54):
Well, you can go to the elbow room after you
get it.

Speaker 11 (01:31:56):
What do you what?

Speaker 33 (01:31:57):
What?

Speaker 24 (01:31:57):
What do they do to give you hair.

Speaker 7 (01:31:59):
They take hair off other places, on your bottom apartment.

Speaker 24 (01:32:03):
I'm good there, man, I'm good. Was that before or after?

Speaker 25 (01:32:06):

I just finished playing basketball for two hours, had one
of the greatest comeback games I've ever had leading into
my birthday tomorrow.

Speaker 19 (01:38:49):
Oh, then I leave.

Speaker 32 (01:38:51):
Then I leave on on Tuesday to go to Dallas
to follow my Canes see if they can pull the

Speaker 7 (01:39:02):
Well late. First of all, is there any video of
your game today that could confirm this big comeback that
you have?

Speaker 11 (01:39:09):
No because whoever was playing was so old.

Speaker 7 (01:39:13):
I'm just kidding. It's in a while. We do video
and it's not pretty well. Well, I think you'll have
fun and uh, you'll have fun in Texas. That ought
to be a fun game. We've got a couple of
games today. We're looking at the Steelers. If they win
to day, it's over in the AMC North. They go
to Cleveland. Miles Garrett is one sack away from the
NFL record. Cleveland the season ended for them long ago.

(01:39:36):
Is there any way Cleveland can beat this Steelers team today?
In your opinion?

Speaker 32 (01:39:40):
I mean, how great would it be if you got
that Sunday night and we've got the Steelers and the
Ravens going head to head for that last one. I
think Cleveland's coming to play here. I really do this
Cleveland team has not given up. There's some teams in
and maybe in the last week there's a few that

(01:40:02):
just absolutely pack it in. But I think they do
enough for Sanders. Just receivers need to hold onto the
ball a little bit more. But you know, Pittsburgh without
their star receiver, they can be in trouble here. And
obviously either with that, you know what, I think this
is gonna come down to the last possession here.

Speaker 24 (01:40:23):
I think you take the three and.

Speaker 7 (01:40:24):
A half points in Cleveland.

Speaker 32 (01:40:26):
I think they're gonna pull off the shocker here six three,
twenty wow, twenty six, twenty three Cleveland.

Speaker 7 (01:40:32):
That would and would tee up for a great final
week end of the season.

Speaker 11 (01:40:35):
Lots of play for still if that's the case.

Speaker 20 (01:40:38):
Lee.

Speaker 11 (01:40:38):
The Seattle Seahawks are in play for the number one
seed in the NFC, winners of five games in a row.
They go to Carolina, who is now based on their
win last week, a game up on Tampa in their division.
With two games remaining, The Panthers are going to get
seven points at Bank of America stadium. Who do you like?

Speaker 32 (01:40:58):
And Carolina at home? I mean seven and two the
last nine games is a home underdog. They're getting seven
points here. I do acknowledge that that Seattle's defense is incredible,
but they're coming off a twenty three twenty home wins.
Not like they got to travel here. They took the
lead in the NFC South. Five of the Panthers last

(01:41:20):
seven games have stayed also under the total. So you're
getting seven points and a team, you know, consisting plays
under the total.

Speaker 11 (01:41:28):
You know that's one thing.

Speaker 18 (01:41:29):
And since week eleven, Carolina's offense.

Speaker 32 (01:41:32):
Number ten in EPA per play while Seattle is nineteen.
The Panthers passing attack number eight in EPA per drop
back while Seattle just twenty fourth. I don't trust am
Donald here on.

Speaker 7 (01:41:43):
The road here.

Speaker 32 (01:41:45):
Seem favorite another upset Carolina twenty four to twenty.

Speaker 25 (01:41:48):
Straight up, there you go, Tony spour for team leave
for all the all the attention that Josh Allen gets.
The Bills have remade their offense around James Cook over
fifteen hundred yards on the ground. Philly can't stop up
anybody on the ground. Buffalo at home is laying a
point and a half.

Speaker 24 (01:42:04):
Who do you like?

Speaker 32 (01:42:06):
Well, I mean, what he's done running and catching the
football is incredible. You know, everyone talks about Josh Allen,
but I mean he's the go to a guy. I
remember him coming out of high school and they're like, oh,
he's never going to be as good as his brother,
but he might be better right now and he's more durable.

Speaker 11 (01:42:23):
His vision.

Speaker 32 (01:42:26):
Is just absolutely incredible here. So I know Philadelphia's could,
but they they're just not the.

Speaker 7 (01:42:33):
Same this year.

Speaker 32 (01:42:34):
You know, I lost guys, the free agency, injury, the
hits just keep coming. In the offense, there's just something
wrong here. Uh, you know, their passing game isn't the same.
The offensive line clearly a couple of key losses doesn't
get the push they.

Speaker 7 (01:42:49):
Used to get.

Speaker 32 (01:42:49):
I like Buffalo at home here, Uh, one of the last.
It will be the last home game here, I believe less.
You know, obviously they host the playoff Buffalo minus to
one and a half and shootout here thirty five thirty.

Speaker 7 (01:43:02):
Thirty five to thirty. Don't worry about the points. Buffalo
with the win. Well, it takes us to the Patriots
and Jets. Pat's twelve and three. The Jets in the toilet.
Jets are getting a bunch of points in this game,
lead thirteen and a half. Well, I really like the
Jets rookie quarterback Brady Cook. In eleven quarters, it's been
sacked seventeen times, thrown six interceptions, and bubbled the ball
away three times. That's my kind of quarterback, Lee, I

(01:43:24):
think he's probably for the upset today. What do you think?

Speaker 32 (01:43:28):
I think they're actually going to hang here?

Speaker 7 (01:43:30):
I don't.

Speaker 32 (01:43:31):
You're not going to make a living at a betting
the Jets here. But the problem here, you know, for
New England, five key starters are down a big you
know game next week obviously ahead of them plus seven
and a half point underdogs hitting it like sixty four
percent the.

Speaker 11 (01:43:48):
Last decade here.

Speaker 32 (01:43:49):
So I think the Jets are going to hang here.
I think New England's really good. But thirteen and a
half points, yeah on the road, are you kidding me?
Another underdog? I think New England will win the game
here twenty four to seventeen, But thirteen and a half
just too much. You might even want to buy it
up to fourteen here?

Speaker 24 (01:44:08):
Wow?

Speaker 7 (01:44:08):
Wow, Yeah, that's a hefty, hefty number. Speaking of that,
Lee's golden ticket is that still available?

Speaker 47 (01:44:16):
Ly?

Speaker 32 (01:44:17):
It is, And here's what I'm gonna do for your show.
Only on the website it is one forty seven. They
can get this week and next week, five games this
week and next week ninety seven dollars. So don't go
to the website called eight hundred, four hundred nine seven
for one. As soon as the show's over, I'll take
your order over the phone. Ninety seven dollars at least

(01:44:40):
five games today and next week and finishing off an
incredible year.

Speaker 7 (01:44:45):
Let's so, let's see if we can keep it going.
What's that number again?

Speaker 32 (01:44:48):
Eight hundred what four hundred nine seven for one.

Speaker 7 (01:44:53):
Nine seven eight hundred four hundred nine to seven four one.
That's a hell of a deal right there. Ninety seven
bucks this week next week? All right? You know what's
going on today? The Cardinals, I mean, they've had so
many injuries this year, they've lost seven in a row.
They played a lot of close games earlier in the year,
and the Bengals are five and ten. The defense has

(01:45:13):
played better lately, but there's still five and ten and
they're giving seven in this game. What do you think.

Speaker 32 (01:45:20):
Well, I'd like to say defense is optional. I don't
even know if it's optional. There's so many injuries here.
Both these teams I think are going to let it
rip here, you know when I don't think we're going
to see teams going to run the ball here. Maybe
a little bit of hurry up from the Bengals. Yeah,
Arizona just has absolutely no depth here. So burrows from

(01:45:43):
multiple tds now in three of his four games since
coming back. All three came on the road. Getting to
play at home colder weather against the warm weather Dome
team should benefit him. Arizona ranks twenty ninethe in scoring defense,
twenty third and yards per play. I just suspect here,
both these defenses. I don't want to give you the
Bengals number because I don't want to, you know, I

(01:46:04):
don't want to frighten everyone, and I want to hopefully
they can keep their rappetite and they want to keep eating, drinking,
being merry. I'm gonna I'm gonna take a different approach
to this game. I do think Cincinnati wins the game,
but I don't want to take a chance at a
backdoor cover. We're gonna go over over fifty three total points.
Cincinnati wins this game here thirty seven.

Speaker 7 (01:46:24):
Thirty one, thirty seven thirty one. Take the over in
this game, Take the over in this game?

Speaker 24 (01:46:28):
Got it?

Speaker 7 (01:46:29):
Save travels, Lee, and uh we'll visit again down the road.
Thanks man.

Speaker 32 (01:46:33):
Okay, okay, see.

Speaker 7 (01:46:35):
Here Paramount sports dot Com, Lee Stirling. He likes the
over in this game today.

Speaker 24 (01:46:40):
I'm intrigued by him playing basketball.

Speaker 7 (01:46:43):
Lee. Yeah, he's a college quarterback.

Speaker 24 (01:46:46):
I want to know what that looks like.

Speaker 7 (01:46:48):
Yeah, we never really did get a commitment on the
video for back Now you just said it was an
old couple of old guys.

Speaker 24 (01:46:53):
Yeah, I'm more interested in that than I am Bengals started.

Speaker 7 (01:46:57):
That could be well next week it could be even worse.
Why don't we just why don't we just next week
talk about basketball? Okay, fine, see what his best game is?
Going to his left.

Speaker 11 (01:47:06):
I don't know if we'll want to talk basketball next week.

Speaker 24 (01:47:08):
We'll talk about his his game.

Speaker 11 (01:47:10):
Not not our favorite team.

Speaker 7 (01:47:12):
Wait a minute, your team plays Lipscomb tomorrow night. Do
they play?

Speaker 11 (01:47:15):
Yeah, but is a dangerous team.

Speaker 25 (01:47:17):
They play Houston on Saturday, and we'll be here on Sunday,
and I'm sure we'll be in a terrific mood.

Speaker 11 (01:47:23):
You get liberty ball, liberty goal, liberty ball, Cats and Cougars,
and then we'll wrap it up with Browns and Bengals.

Speaker 7 (01:47:30):
It's gonna be awesome. It is no I I honestly,
that would be the kind of weekend I'd look forward.

Speaker 11 (01:47:36):
Are you excited about Ohio University having a new head
coaches like.

Speaker 7 (01:47:39):
The guy that defensive coordinator?

Speaker 11 (01:47:42):
Okay, yeah, No, I think they're surprise that kept it
in house. What happened with your boy? You got the
lowdown down the guy who wore the leaves.

Speaker 24 (01:47:48):
Around his neck.

Speaker 11 (01:47:49):
What happened to him?

Speaker 7 (01:47:50):
Well, you know, sometimes he's got.

Speaker 24 (01:47:52):
No rules at Ohio University about looking up with the students.

Speaker 7 (01:47:58):
When I was there, that would have been a problem.
But life was different back then. Apparently it hasn't changed
all that much. But no, Hey, hey, look, if they
can get Parker Davarro back for a seventh year, they're
going to be pretty danged tough next year.

Speaker 11 (01:48:11):
I hope they are.

Speaker 7 (01:48:12):
With Bigar the running back.

Speaker 11 (01:48:14):
Navara is interested in coming to the Bearcats.

Speaker 24 (01:48:16):
Yeah, maybe by Friday. Yep o college new rules of
college football.

Speaker 7 (01:48:21):
You never know. I might have to take a pick
cut play for two teams.

Speaker 11 (01:48:24):
In one season.

Speaker 24 (01:48:25):
You like like Hauser?

Speaker 7 (01:48:26):
Like him?

Speaker 32 (01:48:27):
I do like that.

Speaker 7 (01:48:28):
Yeah, I mean he looked good. He would got into
that conversation on the sidelines with well Dan Moulin. They
had him micd up. He just looked like a regular dude. Yeah,
I like him. Yeah, nobody obviously can replace Frank Soulich,
but yeah, absolutely I like him. If I was a
young man and I had football at Hume and I
might not be getting offers from a Power five conference,

(01:48:50):
Power four conference school, I would I would make a
b line to Athens. Okay, that's just me, though I
might be a little.

Maybe one college of any note anywhere that doesn't have
a sports team that has been rocked by school.

Speaker 11 (01:49:24):
Okay, they're scandal, but then there's the coaches hooking up

Speaker 24 (01:49:47):
There is for more there is.

Speaker 11 (01:49:50):
Yeah, And these football coaches are always telling you how
they never have time for anything, work too much?

Speaker 25 (01:49:54):
Are they worked twenty three and a half hours a day? Well,
some of them have beds that are right in there,
off until until it's chance. Maybe if if you weren't
you know, chasing extramarital activities. Although I guess this dude
was divorced.

Walk this way. You know what inspired the name of
this song?

Speaker 11 (01:56:17):
Now, they had a song.

Speaker 7 (01:56:19):
They had this song, and they didn't have a title
for it, and they were in the studio. They're trying
to come up with the Tyler finish the lyrics off,
and finally Stephen Tyler said, I'm out of here. I'm
gonna go see a movie. And they want to see
Young Frankenstein. And there's a line in Young Frankenstein when
Igor picks the bags up to take I guess it's

(01:56:41):
the wife of the lead character, Martinott, Marty Film and
the other guy, and he says, walk this way.

Speaker 48 (01:56:49):
That was it.

Speaker 7 (01:56:49):
That was it.

Speaker 11 (01:56:50):
That's where they got the line for this fascinating story.

Speaker 7 (01:56:52):
But it's true. Most stories that are true are fascinating.

Speaker 34 (01:56:56):
Ye.

Speaker 24 (01:56:56):
That's why I said it's a fascinating story.

Speaker 7 (01:56:57):
It's a fascinating story.

Speaker 11 (01:56:59):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (01:56:59):
Think about how great things just come to people out
of the blue. Yeah, I mean that's the way the
creative process works. Sure, you go in there thinking one thing,
and then all of a sudden something happens and off
it goes in another direction.

Speaker 24 (01:57:10):
I liked that song when they did it with Run DMC.

Speaker 7 (01:57:13):
Yes, whatever happened to Run DMC?

Speaker 24 (01:57:15):
The the guy ding one of them is was killed
maybe twenty years ago.

Speaker 7 (01:57:20):
Yeah, was it Run or DMC?

Speaker 11 (01:57:23):
Oh? You know, I'm not gonna I'm not going to
answer that because you're you're attempting to make light of
something tragedy.

Speaker 7 (01:57:28):
No, I don't know. I didn't know the guy was dead,
no matter how he dies. But I mean to say
it was which one was it? That's all?

Speaker 11 (01:57:35):
I don't know.

Speaker 7 (01:57:35):
It's like Milli Vanilli, Okay, one of those guys go,
which one was it was it Milli Vanilli.

Speaker 24 (01:57:40):
There was Rob and Fab.

Speaker 11 (01:57:42):
I think I think it was Fab.

Speaker 7 (01:57:44):
No, he was They were in Milli Vanilly.

Speaker 25 (01:57:46):
They didn't the two guys who pretended to be singing
in Millie Vanilli. Right guy was named Rob, one guy
was named Fab.

Speaker 7 (01:57:52):
Talking about which one to run, DMC was going, I
don't know. I don't have to google that.

Speaker 11 (01:57:56):
One you had. I think Daryl Mitchell is still alive.

Speaker 7 (01:58:01):
Well, that would be DMC.

Speaker 11 (01:58:04):
I don't know.

Speaker 7 (01:58:04):
Okay, Well, that's a question that we'll have for another day.

Speaker 11 (01:58:07):
Easily the best segment the bak. Yeah, we could look
it up.

Speaker 25 (01:58:11):
If only there was a device that gave us the
opportunity to look things up that we don't know.

Speaker 7 (01:58:18):
I got a handheld device. Yeah, we use that.

Speaker 11 (01:58:21):
Okay.

Speaker 7 (01:58:23):
Uh, we're coming up on the break at the top
of the hour. When we get into the next half hour,
we're not only going to run down some of the
games in the NFL today, and they are not as
many because we've had Thursday night games, sure, we've had
Saturday games. We'll go through scenarios about who can clinch
and who not can clinch.

Speaker 25 (01:58:39):
And all these games this week had to have Netflix
Prime Peacock, and.

Speaker 7 (01:58:44):
Then the Netflix effort this week was not good.

Speaker 11 (01:58:47):
They gotta they gotta can those interviews of the old players.
During the game, Barry Sanders looked thrilled to be jumping on.

Speaker 25 (01:58:58):
I do think they had Noah Eagle and Todd Blacklitch
call it an NFL game last night, which.

Speaker 11 (01:59:07):
I'm just saying that it was an entertaining game. But
the broadcast, the the NFL is all about money.

Speaker 70 (01:59:12):
We know that.

Speaker 7 (01:59:13):
You know, eventually the.

Speaker 25 (01:59:14):
Super Bowl, as opposed to the radio game no no, no, no,
no no, for the love of the providing a service
to the community.

Speaker 7 (01:59:23):
The super Bowl will eventually be pay per view. We
know it's going in that direction. And at a certain point,
I think people are going to say that's enough. If
you've got to get Netflix and Peacock and all your
ESPN channels, it's like, you go broke with this stuff
trying to watch it.

Speaker 24 (01:59:41):
Say no, And I think it's one thing. I don't
know how much time we have.

Speaker 25 (01:59:44):
I think it's one thing if like you only love
the NFL, but if you're like us who love all
the other sports, you know you got to have Apple
TV to watch Major League soccer. And you've got to
have you know, I've got to subscribe to a service
to watch the Reds, and if I want to watch
the NBA, I've got to have different Like if you
add a all up together for all the sports, it
makes it really hard to be a sports fan who

(02:00:04):
likes more than just one.

Speaker 11 (02:00:05):
League, Exactly, it's tough.

Speaker 25 (02:00:07):
Meanwhile, not to mention the cost of going to games
buying tickets, except you got a couple of free ones
thanks to our guy here.

Speaker 7 (02:00:13):
Well we've got four and play right now.

Speaker 11 (02:00:15):
We do.

Speaker 7 (02:00:15):
We have two two, and this gentleman that offered us too.

Speaker 11 (02:00:19):
So what we'll do is we'll sell too, yeah, and
then we'll buy some drinks in the club scop them.

Speaker 7 (02:00:24):
Why don't we just sell that guy's tickets because we'll
probably get more money.

Speaker 11 (02:00:27):
From me And man, that's fine by me. Just make
some coin. We're coming up on a break.

Speaker 24 (02:00:31):
You ever scalp tickets on the street.

Speaker 7 (02:00:33):
I did, I got I got cited once in New York.

Speaker 1 (02:00:35):
Thank you.

Speaker 11 (02:00:37):
Ken didn't want to be in the club.

Speaker 7 (02:00:39):
When I was in guys school, I was out selling
my tickets to a hockey game and I sold them
to an undercover cop. Really did it actually happened. It
was like seventeen years old. Honest to god, it's a
true story. Anybody that tells you it's a true story,
it's not a true story. This is a true story.

Speaker 11 (02:00:54):
But it's December twenty eighth and we just got the garage.

Speaker 7 (02:00:57):

Yes, how are you spending New Year's Emo?

Speaker 25 (02:09:43):
We're gonna go bowling and then we're gonna watch the
Ohio State game at a friend's house and spend the night.

Speaker 11 (02:09:48):
At the friend's house. Yes, well, that's nice, Tony. What
are you doing? I don't I don't think we have
any plans New Year's Eve with the kiddos. Probably, yeah,
because you know New Year's Day take off to Memphis, Tennessee.
That's right, we're going to Beticat's in the Liberty Bowl, Memphis, Graceland,
all that stuff.

Speaker 7 (02:10:06):
Are you going to Graceland?

Speaker 11 (02:10:07):
I've never been there.

Speaker 7 (02:10:07):
I was down there. It's it's wonderful.

Speaker 25 (02:10:09):
It's cool when you see played in the Liberty Bowl
in twenty eleven. I went to Graceland. Yeah, kind of
kicking and screaming and it ended up loving it.

Speaker 7 (02:10:17):
It was cool. It's neat yea, it was, and across
the street you can go through Elvis's planes and all
that which was.

Speaker 11 (02:10:22):
I'm fascinated by the Cincinnati contingent that comes to the
Bowl game. I haven't heard many people who stay going
to Memphis.

Speaker 7 (02:10:30):
I heard from somebody that declined to go that the
side of the field where the fans would sit CINCINNTI
fans would sit is under construction.

Speaker 25 (02:10:40):
It's not the easiest place to get to. You know,
there's I don't think there's direct flights to Memphis. I
could be wrong about that. It's like a seven hour drive.
Is Tony higher in the same flight. It's not direct,
And the Liberty Bowl Stadium is not greatly.

Speaker 7 (02:10:53):
It's in a bad neighborhood and it's not great.

Speaker 11 (02:10:55):
What an opportunity to beat Navy. You see basketball beat
Houston the day after. Oh and we're coming here next
week completely revived.

Speaker 7 (02:11:04):
For some barbecue places down there, right, So, you know,
I don't know.

Speaker 25 (02:11:09):
If I assume Tony and I are going to hang out,
he may get a better offer. Have you ever gone
to eat with Tony?

Speaker 38 (02:11:14):
No?

Speaker 11 (02:11:15):
Pretty simple place?

Speaker 25 (02:11:16):
Better have chicken tenders or the plain is cheeseburger of
all time. So I want to go get some barbecue.
I'm want to go to Gus's Fried Chicken. I'm from
my Chicken. My guy here, by his own admission, has
the palette of a seven year old. So you know,
we've gone to barbecue places this year.

Speaker 11 (02:11:33):
We've been in Kansas City, come to Kansas.

Speaker 24 (02:11:35):
City and my guy gets like a plaining cheeseburger.

Speaker 11 (02:11:38):
Well there, Uh like, I'm going on the barbecue spots
this year.

Speaker 7 (02:11:42):
Oh you're not. You're not going to get barbecue.

Speaker 11 (02:11:44):
Oh I've I already took in multiple spots and back
to back trips to Kansas.

Speaker 25 (02:11:48):
We're gonna look for a place to watch the football
and have a couple of cold ones.

Speaker 7 (02:11:51):
I had a Tony my pet brow. I had a
barbecue recommendation place. But I wouldn't.

Speaker 24 (02:11:57):
I wouldn't.

Speaker 7 (02:11:57):
I wouldn't go if you if.

Speaker 25 (02:11:59):
I love barbecue. But they rendezvous good West's is better.
Central Barbecue, Central Barbecues.

Speaker 7 (02:12:07):
That was recommended to me by Catherine Nero Wow, who
used to be a tour guide at Graceland. Yeah. Really,
because I did the whole Elvish vitual the night before
where you you know you walk by the grave.

Speaker 11 (02:12:21):
And all that.

Speaker 51 (02:12:21):
You know.

Speaker 25 (02:12:22):
The first time I met Catherine Nero, she was doing
a live shot on UC's campus and I decided.

Speaker 7 (02:12:28):
To phot obamas jumping.

Speaker 25 (02:12:31):
I decided to jump up and down behind her and
trying to get somebody's attention that was watching on TV.

Speaker 7 (02:12:39):
I bet she loved that too.

Speaker 24 (02:12:40):
Huh, she has forgiven.

Speaker 11 (02:12:44):
She has I don't know.

Speaker 25 (02:12:44):
Okay, she invited me. She went very happy with me.
She invited me to speech to her class. So yeah,
it's exciting. Yeah, impart some wisdom to those folks. And
then I you know, and and she is, first of all,
she's a sweetheart. But she also said, when I suggest that,
you know, those of us who think that Elvis really
isn't dead, oh you don't say that.

Speaker 7 (02:13:05):
You don't want to hear that you think he's not dead.
I think it's a very good possibility that he is.
But it's been forty eight years. There was a while though,
what I.

Speaker 25 (02:13:13):
Wonder, Yeah, that was a big thing in the eighties,
like Elvis is not really dead. But now you add
the element of like decades, chances are even if he
didn't dine in nineteen seventy seven, he has croaked.

Speaker 7 (02:13:23):
Since there was a video that came out maybe like
fifteen years ago. It was called is Elvis Alive? Question Mark,
And it was a guy that went to interview the
guy that purportedly was Elvis in like fifteen years ago,
and he had one of Elvis's co stars in one
of his movies with him and everything that Elvis would say.

(02:13:44):
She'd sit there and go, that's right, that's right, he is,
and Elvis said. The movie ended by saying that Elvis
was going to come back. This was two thousand and eleven,
twenty twelve. He said Elvis was going to this guy
was going to come outside and tell everybody that he's
Elvis and he was alive if Barack Obama lost the election.
And I'm looking at this thing thinking somebody is looking

(02:14:07):
to make some money here all some people that are stupid,
and on my hand went up because I bought the video.

Speaker 25 (02:14:13):
What always has bothered me about Elvis is Elvis impersonators
are always.

Speaker 7 (02:14:17):
Old Elvis tribute artists.

Speaker 24 (02:14:19):
They're never a young, cool Elvis with the leather jacket.

Speaker 7 (02:14:22):
Yeah right, well, there is actually it's coming to town
here at the Aeronoff Center, The Elvistribute and I'll be
talking with one of the one of the backup singers
that Elvis had with the with the standing day, ed Enoch.
I'm gonna have that on the show coming up here,
probably next Saturday.

Speaker 25 (02:14:39):
I'll tell you what again, the younger demographic. Can you
just have it in the palm of your hands.

Speaker 7 (02:14:45):
Hey, you line up it. You line up eighteen year
old kids on Bountain Square. You say, Elvis Presley, tell
me about them, and everybody would know.

Speaker 24 (02:14:52):
I'm gonna say nothing about Oh that old guy, the
guy on the jumpsuit.

Speaker 7 (02:14:57):
The guy's dead. He's not old.

Speaker 24 (02:14:58):
Elvis died the year I was born.

Speaker 25 (02:15:00):
Okay, so you're expecting somebody much younger than me to
rattle off facts about Elvis.

Speaker 7 (02:15:06):
Sure, Like I wasn't like when when Frank Sinatra was big.

Speaker 20 (02:15:11):
I was.

Speaker 7 (02:15:11):
It was long before me. But I knew all about
it because my parents listen little.

Speaker 25 (02:15:15):
Yes, an eighteen year old kid, their parents didn't listen
to Elvis. There are exceptions, but for the most part.

Speaker 7 (02:15:23):
It's a very good chance that the eighteen year old
kid has parents that weren't alive in nineteen.

Speaker 25 (02:15:27):
Six, right, So, but yeah, have on at Enoch Eddie,
how old's old Eddie. He goes by Eddie eighty five,
eighty five, He's gonna be at the air and off.
You gotta go to that show.

Speaker 7 (02:15:37):
I've seen that show several times. I could recite it
by heart.

Speaker 24 (02:15:40):
So you're you're gonna go watch EDIEO?

Speaker 7 (02:15:41):
No, I don't. I didn't say I'm going.

Speaker 11 (02:15:43):
I said I can.

Speaker 24 (02:15:46):
You know, I really wish the Bengals were good, so
we could talk about them right now.

Speaker 7 (02:15:49):
Well, let's talk about let's talk about the Bengals. Let's
let's talk about Uh, come to Memphis with us, you
hang out. I could I go back to uh two
day t Yeah, I've made that trip. It's not seven
hours to drive.

Speaker 11 (02:16:03):
It's it's a hike.

Speaker 7 (02:16:04):
Yeah, it's a little bit low. Just you go to
Nashville and make a right hand turn and you go
for as Yeah, you do go by uh, what's your name? Tammy?
Wynette's Country? Uh cooking?

Speaker 11 (02:16:16):
I just keep going.

Speaker 7 (02:16:17):
I'm good.

Speaker 11 (02:16:17):
He don't stop into Tammy.

Speaker 3 (02:16:19):
I'm right.

Speaker 7 (02:16:21):
If you're the Bengals coaching staff, what are you looking
for in this game and next week? Besides effort? What
are you looking for? Tony?

Speaker 11 (02:16:28):
I don't know if there's much more than that. I mean,
there are individual things on the defensive side of the ball.
Miles Murphy's continued progression. Yeah, you know, can can Geno
Stone actually register anything in the box score this week?
Who cares about it? Did not register anything in the
box score last week. I'm looking at the linebackers. I'm
looking at the defensive line because that's where it's got
to start next year. I think everyone's okay saying you're

(02:16:48):
gonna move on from safety with Ginostone regardless, but the
D line and the linebacking course still has a lot
to show. And you know, this offense, they've not had
a ton of opportunities with t Higgins, jamar Cha and
Chase Brown to all be active and playing, and when
they do, they usually put up gaudy numbers. I would
look for that today as well.

Speaker 25 (02:17:07):
I'm looking at Shamar Stewart, you know, I mean, he's
gonna play. It would would help not just to accumulate experience,
but also contribute something that makes you feel like, Okay,
the light bulb may come on next year. I think
that's that's pretty big. These games are all about get
in and get out. If you win, fine, if you lose,
that's okay. Keep Joe Burrow upright. I don't know, you know,

(02:17:30):
we started the show by talking about players who here
at the end of the season have performed better. Yeah,
and if you see some more of that, that certainly
can be encouraging. But I don't know from a coaching
staff perspective that there's a ton that you're trying to
gauge or look at. You want to see the offensive
line continue to play. Well, there's some good building blocks there,
but this is this is about Joe's gonna play.

Speaker 24 (02:17:53):
And if they could do what they did last.

Speaker 25 (02:17:55):
Week, which is pull them in the fourth quarter, it
means their way ahead might mean their way behind.

Speaker 24 (02:17:59):
Either way. You gotta get through today with Joe Burrow
healthy and upright.

Speaker 7 (02:18:04):
All right, we'll take a break, come back and look
at some games in the NFL other than the one
that is going to occur here. In about an hour
and a half, you're listening to the RNL carriers pregame

Speaker 7 (02:18:21):

Speaker 11 (02:18:22):
It depends on the news of the day, it's eighty five.

Speaker 24 (02:18:25):

Holy Grail presented by your Cincinnati and North of Kentucky
Toia dealers. Today's Postman injury report is brought to you
by Postman Law. Injured call eight, Poor poor Postman. Others
promise Postman delivers. Josephs most Sai is out. He is

(02:23:23):
not playing for the Bengals, nor is Charlie Jones. And
as for the Arizona Cardos Buddha Baker, that's he's one
of the better players. He's out with a thumb injury.
And just looking Paris Johnson Junior, their talented offensive lineman
is out for this game as well. Oh, by the way,
post pregame sports talk is brought to you by Encore Technologies.

(02:23:47):
Visit Encore dot tech and thank you to Postman Law
all season long for bringing us the injury report.

Speaker 11 (02:23:53):
Oh size a guy which would have played the last
couple Yes, contract here. You got to make a decision
on him. Yeah, that is. That's one of those kind
of in between players that we talked about earlier.

Speaker 7 (02:24:02):
Arizona's defense. What about that here's Joe Burrow.

Speaker 11 (02:24:06):
They're gonna play a.

Speaker 60 (02:24:08):
Kind of umbrella look from the secondary and roll and
drop into a bunch of different coverages. Kind of reminds
me of how Clemson kind of played us in the
National Championship. So presenting a unique challenge for sure.

Speaker 11 (02:24:28):
That's like, yeah, I don't know if it's like clumbs,
and that should be a good thing for the Bengals offense.

Speaker 7 (02:24:34):
He didn't seem all that impressed.

Speaker 11 (02:24:37):
He sounded half asleep.

Speaker 25 (02:24:40):
I gotta talk about this team's defense, and I don't
really care about Sure, put eleven guys on the field.

Speaker 11 (02:24:46):
I see what we can do.

Speaker 7 (02:24:48):
Let's talk about some of these games today. We talked
about it, talking about it. So Baltimore beat screen Bay
last night forty four. Baltimore is eight and eight. Pittsburgh
if they win today, that's it. Pittsburgh's in there. Guy,
I gotta give three and a half to Cleveland in Cleveland, Tony.
You know, I heard what Lee Stirling said about the game.
It's hard for me to believe that if Pittsburgh has

(02:25:10):
the ability to deliver a knockout blow and they run
the ball as well as they have recently, that they're
going to lose at Cleveland today. Please walk me back
from that a little bit.

Speaker 11 (02:25:20):
They've failed multiple times this year when they could put
things away or separate themselves. DK Metcalf's not playing in
the game. Miles Garrett is still playing for a lot
trying to get the sack record in the National Football League.
I give Cleveland a fighting chance in this. I think
they cover.

Speaker 24 (02:25:36):
I'm with you, Tony.

Speaker 25 (02:25:37):
Also, if you want to feel bad about yourself, spend
the fifteen minutes or so that's out there watching the
press conference of that dude who DK Metcalf hit.

Speaker 24 (02:25:46):
Yeah, I'll take Cleveland. I'll grab the points.

Speaker 7 (02:25:50):
The other one that's up in the air is the
NFC South right now, Carolina's got the upper hand. They're
getting seven at home against Seattle today, Tony, Tampa has
to win. They're at Miami and they're giving five and
a half to the Dolphins. What is more likely Tampa
beats Miami or Carolina beats Seattle, or are both more

(02:26:12):
likely than not to happen.

Speaker 11 (02:26:13):
I think it's more likely Tampa wins and covers. I
do think it's more likely though, that Carolina covers the number,
but Seattle wins the game, all.

Speaker 25 (02:26:19):
Right, too many points for that game. Bryce Young's played well.
Buccaneers have lost seven straight against the spread. I'm gonna
take the points with Miami. I'm gonna take the points
with Carolina.

Speaker 7 (02:26:29):
But who's going to win? Because that then next week
it's Tampa Carolina and that would set it up for
a show.

Speaker 25 (02:26:35):
I guess is the Bucks win that game and the
Panthers lose. But I think the numbers too big to
lay out with Seattle.

Speaker 7 (02:26:41):
All Right, A lot of these games are virtually meaningless,
although the one that I find interesting is Philadelphia Buffalo,
which at one point looked like it could be a
preview of a Super Bowl. Maybe it still is.

Speaker 11 (02:26:51):
I don't know.

Speaker 7 (02:26:51):
Buffalo is at home giving one to Philly in a
four to twenty five start.

Speaker 11 (02:26:55):
I don't know about either of the quarterbacks. Yeah, Josh
Allen has been up and down, Jalen Hurts. There's something
going on with that offense.

Speaker 24 (02:27:02):
Yeah.

Speaker 11 (02:27:03):
I think it's Philly's ability to stop the run. They're
a good front. I think they can do enough to
throw off the running game of Buffalo, and then you
start to get into the Buffalo receiver corps. I know,
Dawson Knox and King Kate are both questionable. I'll take
Philly to win this one.

Speaker 25 (02:27:18):
I think it's gonna be interesting with the Bills to
see who they play based on what New England does.
Because if the Patriots win, they effectively, not mathematically, but
effectively clinch the AFC East. So from a gambling perspective,
I'm gonna pay attention to see what happens with the
line after the Patriots win. But I'll go ahead and
take Philly as a slight dog.

Speaker 7 (02:27:39):
We have this Sunday night game is intriguing Chicago obviously
is Chicago and San Francisco. They're both are terrific teams.
San Francisco is giving three and a half. This could
be Tony, This could be a preview of the NFC
Championship game tonight.

Speaker 11 (02:27:51):
It's just we I know. I don't think Kittle's gonna
go for San Francisco. Pearsall's gonna try to go. They
still got Christian McCaffrey. I just keep waiting on the
slip for the Cago Bears, and to Ben Johnson's credit,
that hasn't been there yet. I think this though, the
coaching edge is still with San Francisco. I liked them
for this.

Speaker 25 (02:28:08):
I think San Francisco their defense is a house of cards.
I'm gonna get points with Caleb Williams and the healthier team,
I'll take Chicago.

Speaker 11 (02:28:15):
I think they can run the ball against the Niners.

Speaker 7 (02:28:17):
You know, it's funny for the Bengals, this season effectively
ended after that lost to Chicago. I mean, we you
know Burrow came back. Everybody's Joe's back, Joe's back. I mean,
he would have to be Saint Joe with a miracle,
and we all know it did not happen. But if
you want to look at a point where this season
ended for this team, it was Jets and then Chicago
and it was pretty much off the cliff after that. Okay,

(02:28:37):
what about today. We've already talked about what they don't
want to see, which is injury. We've already talked about
what they need to see at certain positions. These are
always the toughest games to play, Tony. You're out of it,
you're pro, you're getting paid, you're going out there. What
about this game today where since he's given seven to Arizona.

Speaker 11 (02:28:55):
I liked the Bengals, but after hearing Joe Burrow talk
about the umbrella cover to the Zona's gonna deploy. I
now love the Bengals. Ken mentioned Buddha Baker is out.
That's significant. I don't see how Arizona offers much in
a way to stop this Bengals offense. Yes, I think
Arizona can score and I like that. You know, we

(02:29:16):
talked to Lee Sturlingly. He liked the over. I do
as well. I just think the Bengals at home have
way too much on the offensive side of them.

Speaker 25 (02:29:22):
There is a better chance than Elvis Presley himself shows
up at pay Court Stadium and the Cardinals winning this game.
I'll lay the points with Cincinnati. Bengals win big to
improve to six and ten.

Speaker 7 (02:29:31):
He's not Elvis, but he is Box S Miller. He
is a Hall of Famer and he has countdown a
kickoff next, as has been the Arnel Carriers pregame show,
Live from the Holy Grail of the Banks, presented by
your Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky toy Oda dealers. Enjoy the game,
enjoy the pregame show. It's next.

Speaker 23 (02:29:55):
He's Bengals count Down to Kickoff on the Bengals Radio Network.

Speaker 46 (02:29:59):

Speaker 89 (02:30:42):
Good afternoon to welcome to Countdown to Kickoff on the
Cincinnati Bengals Radio Network. Put today's matchup between the Arizona
Cardinals and Cincinnati Bengals. I'm Wayne box Miller. Count Down
to Kickoff, Holston. After the impressive win over the Dolphins
last week, the Bengals are looking for consistency with another
strong out and against Arizona to the two games left
in the season. Building momentum going into the off season

(02:31:04):
is a must, and another turnover inspired defensive game plan
combined with the second straight Player of the Week performance
by Joe Burrow, would be complimentary. Complimentary football at its best.
But like being a player, the Cardinal players are also
trying to stay in the league in Arizona elsewhere. Simply put,
players who make plays will stay standing by with today's

call of the game, Postmary Christmas and pre Happy New Year,

Speaker 7 (02:31:32):
Fock same to you.

Speaker 46 (02:31:33):
Two weeks ago, in the last home game here at
Pey Corpse Stadium, the temperature was ten degrees. The wind
show was minus one. It is very different today. The
December twenty eighth temperature at the moment is sixty one degrees.
It is expected to hit the high sixties before the
day is through, and then it's going to be in
the low twenties tomorrow.

Speaker 22 (02:31:54):
Welcome to Cincinnati. Let's talk about today's opponent.

Speaker 46 (02:31:57):
Lap The Cardinals started the season two and oh they've
gone one in twelve since. They bring a seven game
losing streak into pay Court Stadium today. They've got an
NFL high twenty two players on injured reserve. This team
is battered and bruised the Bengals open the week is
a five and a half point favorite.

Speaker 22 (02:32:14):
It's up to seven points. Now, tell me what it's
like as a player.

Speaker 46 (02:32:17):
What's the mindset you have to get into today against
the team that's battered and bruised like that in order
to take care of business.

Speaker 90 (02:32:24):
Yeah, you've got to. You got to come out and
you got I think a fast start is a big deal.
Don't let them think even though we are beating up
and we're limping and gimpin', if we give our best
effort today, we can beat this football team. They have
three wins, the Bengals have five. I mean, there's not
a huge difference there. I'll tell you though. In that

(02:32:46):
seven game losing streak too, they've given up forty points
four times. I mean, that's the thing I think. I think,
as is the case in most games, Dan, at any level,
high school, college, NFL, who's gonna have the right mindset
in the trenches. We're talking about mindset for this football game.

(02:33:06):
Who is going to be physically and mentally the most dominant.
Who is going to take the other players will away
from him? You know, it's there's only two games left.
Guys can fold their tent. I don't see any sign
of that with the Cincinnati Bengals whatsoever. That's one thing
that I think I remember most about this football team

(02:33:28):
is the way they approached every game. Even though they
didn't win a whole lot of them. They they came
in with the right mentality, the right the right mindset.
They worked hard at practice, they worked well during the
course of the week of practice, in meetings, in the classroom,
on the football field. You know, it just didn't happen.
It was one of those years. It just just didn't happen.

(02:33:48):
But I think with these two games left, both of
the opponents are three and three and twelve right now
six and twenty four. In the last two teams they play,
build some momentum to finish twenty twenty five strong, can
start twenty twenty six off on the right foot.

Speaker 46 (02:34:03):
To win today, the Bengals are going to have to
do a reasonably good job of shutting down Arizona's great
tight end, Trey McBride. He comes into the game with
one fewer catch than Jamar Chase. I think that really
puts it in perspective. Jamar's got one ten, McBride has
one oh nine. We know the Bengals have struggled all
year at shutting down tight ends. I'm not going to

(02:34:24):
predict a shutdown, but they can't let Tray McBride go off.

Speaker 90 (02:34:28):
Absolutely, they can't let him control the game or control
the middle of the football field where he patrols very effectively.
I mean, between the numbers, this guy is a force.
He's dynamic. Quarterbacks look for him obviously. I mean he's
a big

The Burden

The Burden

The Burden is a documentary series that takes listeners into the hidden places where justice is done (and undone). It dives deep into the lives of heroes and villains. And it focuses a spotlight on those who triumph even when the odds are against them. Season 5 - The Burden: Death & Deceit in Alliance On April Fools Day 1999, 26-year-old Yvonne Layne was found murdered in her Alliance, Ohio home. David Thorne, her ex-boyfriend and father of one of her children, was instantly a suspect. Another young man admitted to the murder, and David breathed a sigh of relief, until the confessed murderer fingered David; “He paid me to do it.” David was sentenced to life without parole. Two decades later, Pulitzer winner and podcast host, Maggie Freleng (Bone Valley Season 3: Graves County, Wrongful Conviction, Suave) launched a “live” investigation into David's conviction alongside Jason Baldwin (himself wrongfully convicted as a member of the West Memphis Three). Maggie had come to believe that the entire investigation of David was botched by the tiny local police department, or worse, covered up the real killer. Was Maggie correct? Was David’s claim of innocence credible? In Death and Deceit in Alliance, Maggie recounts the case that launched her career, and ultimately, “broke” her.” The results will shock the listener and reduce Maggie to tears and self-doubt. This is not your typical wrongful conviction story. In fact, it turns the genre on its head. It asks the question: What if our champions are foolish? Season 4 - The Burden: Get the Money and Run “Trying to murder my father, this was the thing that put me on the path.” That’s Joe Loya and that path was bank robbery. Bank, bank, bank, bank, bank. In season 4 of The Burden: Get the Money and Run, we hear from Joe who was once the most prolific bank robber in Southern California, and beyond. He used disguises, body doubles, proxies. He leaped over counters, grabbed the money and ran. Even as the FBI was closing in. It was a showdown between a daring bank robber, and a patient FBI agent. Joe was no ordinary bank robber. He was bright, articulate, charismatic, and driven by a dark rage that he summoned up at will. In seven episodes, Joe tells all: the what, the how… and the why. Including why he tried to murder his father. Season 3 - The Burden: Avenger Miriam Lewin is one of Argentina’s leading journalists today. At 19 years old, she was kidnapped off the streets of Buenos Aires for her political activism and thrown into a concentration camp. Thousands of her fellow inmates were executed, tossed alive from a cargo plane into the ocean. Miriam, along with a handful of others, will survive the camp. Then as a journalist, she will wage a decades long campaign to bring her tormentors to justice. Avenger is about one woman’s triumphant battle against unbelievable odds to survive torture, claim justice for the crimes done against her and others like her, and change the future of her country. Season 2 - The Burden: Empire on Blood Empire on Blood is set in the Bronx, NY, in the early 90s, when two young drug dealers ruled an intersection known as “The Corner on Blood.” The boss, Calvin Buari, lived large. He and a protege swore they would build an empire on blood. Then the relationship frayed and the protege accused Calvin of a double homicide which he claimed he didn’t do. But did he? Award-winning journalist Steve Fishman spent seven years to answer that question. This is the story of one man’s last chance to overturn his life sentence. He may prevail, but someone’s gotta pay. The Burden: Empire on Blood is the director’s cut of the true crime classic which reached #1 on the charts when it was first released half a dozen years ago. Season 1 - The Burden In the 1990s, Detective Louis N. Scarcella was legendary. In a city overrun by violent crime, he cracked the toughest cases and put away the worst criminals. “The Hulk” was his nickname. Then the story changed. Scarcella ran into a group of convicted murderers who all say they are innocent. They turned themselves into jailhouse-lawyers and in prison founded a lway firm. When they realized Scarcella helped put many of them away, they set their sights on taking him down. And with the help of a NY Times reporter they have a chance. For years, Scarcella insisted he did nothing wrong. But that’s all he’d say. Until we tracked Scarcella to a sauna in a Russian bathhouse, where he started to talk..and talk and talk. “The guilty have gone free,” he whispered. And then agreed to take us into the belly of the beast. Welcome to The Burden.
