Speaker 1 (00:00):
C King Carmen be ninety five getting ready for R
and B night out this Saturday night at the Big
Fresne Fair. Very excited that the five to five nines
very own Ralph Edwards is gonna be on stage that night.
Ralph Edwards from vibecheck gonna be on stage the Big
Fresnel Fair. But also he is on the Voice. He's
(00:20):
on Team Snoop. I was blown away seeing my man
get that four chair turn Ralph. Yes, sir, Yes, sir,
Vibe check.
Speaker 2 (00:29):
In the building, Yes, sir, how you doing, man.
Speaker 1 (00:33):
I'm doing fantastic, Ralph. I gotta ask you, man, what
does it feel to be on the Voice. What does
it feel to be on Team Snoop?
Speaker 2 (00:41):
On? First off, you know West Coast is the best coast, right, yes, sir,
So being on Team Snoop and being on the Voice, man,
is a dream come true for me. I'm having so
much fun with it. And you know it's only the beginning,
It's only only the first part of it. So let's
see what happens.
Speaker 1 (00:59):
Next, right, I know that's exactly it. As we follow
along your journey, it's like, well, what's gonna happen next?
And I mean, this has to be a dream come
truth for you. I want you to talk about how
long it's taking you to get to this point, the
journey just overall, like your experiences in singing.
Speaker 2 (01:18):
All right, yeah, no, So so this is you know,
I tried out for the voice when I was sixteen
or seventeen years old, and in between that time and
now I'm thirty now, and it's been about eleven times
except for this time. This is the twelfth. So twelve
times the charm. Yeah, so you know, I just I
never wanted to I never wanted to give up our
(01:39):
dream of vine, you know what I mean? So right,
I kept trying out. I tried out for other shows too,
but this was the show I really wanted to get on.
And you know when I finally got that call, I
wasn't gonna I wasn't gonna take it for granted or
miss it.
Speaker 1 (01:54):
You know, you said that this was the twelfth time
that you've done this, and I think that says a
lot about holding on to your dreams, never giving up.
You started when you were sixteen, you're now thirty years old.
What was it like when you got to see those
chairs turn around?
Speaker 2 (02:11):
Man? When I got to just see the stage, I
started to cheer up, you know what I mean, let alone,
you know, getting any chair man I was. I specifically
didn't even look at the chairs while I was singing,
because I didn't even want to freak out, you know,
while while I was waiting for one of them to
turn around, and right right, oh, when I opened my eyes,
(02:33):
I opened my eyes to Riba and you know, then
they were all there, and I was like, I'm not
even done with the song yet, what the heck? And
so realizing I got a four chair turn and realizing
my dreams are starting to come true at the age
of thirty, I mean, I mean, I can't be more
happy and humbled for it.
Speaker 1 (02:50):
Talk about sixteen year old Ralph compared to thirty year
old Ralph, where you are now in life and why
you think maybe for some people, including yourself, it takes
a little bit longer to be recognized.
Speaker 2 (03:04):
Well, you know, I would say, you know, it's everything
happens for a reason. If I would have gotten any
chairs when I was sixteen years old, seventeen years old,
I would have had a head bigger than the size
of Fresno. And so that's probably better that I didn't
get a chair turned that, right, y'all wouldn't have been
able to tell me nothing. Now, you know, man, I'm
(03:26):
an adult. I'm level headed, you know, and I'm taking
every blessing that I'm getting and trying to give it
back as much as i can too.
Speaker 1 (03:36):
All right, So now that you know, getting ready for
the battle rounds and all that good stuff, what is
it like being coached by Snoop and getting advice from
Snoop and the people that work with the voice.
Speaker 2 (03:48):
I'm gonna tell you, guys, the best advice that Snoop
has given me already, He was like, just relax and
have fun. Yeah, you know, this is this is a
once in a lifetime opportunity. And you know, whenever you're
on something like a competition like this or any competition
in general, you tend to get a little bit frazzled
(04:08):
or dare I say, you know, just ready to go
and just rushing. He literally he stepped me back and
he was like, look, man, this is the one in
the lifetime opportunity. You got to relax. You gotta have fun,
you know, lay back on the beat a little bit
and do your thing. That's that's the way to do it.
Speaker 1 (04:25):
I love it, man.
Speaker 2 (04:27):
Yeah, it's been the best advice I've ever gotten.
Speaker 1 (04:30):
All Right, So you're going to be on stage R
and B night Out, Big Fresno Fair, Nivia, Lloyd Mario,
Ralph Edwards. How crazy is that?
Speaker 2 (04:42):
Man? Another dream come true? Man, I've always wanted to
perform on that stage and just getting it getting up
there and you know, knowing that that those other giants
are going to be on the stage, and you know
I get to somewhat share the stage with him. I'm excited.
Speaker 1 (04:57):
We're excited for you. We're excited to see what you
do on the voice. Anything you want to tell your fans,
your friends, your family here in the five five nine
that has been rocking with you for years, that has
seen this journey since you've been a sixteen year old
boy to now being thirty years old on Team Snoop,
What do you want to tell him?
Speaker 2 (05:17):
I we made it, man. You know it's time to
it's time to keep on going. Though it's it's full
steam ahead, it's not stop. And I just want to be,
you know, an advocate for not giving up. Don't give
up on your dreams. You know, sometimes it takes twelve
fifteen years to get there. But yeah, you know what,
if you don't stop, you don't you don't stop, you
(05:39):
don't know if you can make it. And I'm a
I'm a true believer in that. Even in my sports days,
I made sure that I did the best I could
and left it all out there. And that's what I
did on that stage too, And that's what I'm going
to plan on doing on Saturday night at the R
and B Night. You know, I'm also my band's playing
right after that in the beer Garden, so I'm going
(05:59):
to be jumping.
Speaker 1 (06:00):
I love it.
Speaker 2 (06:01):
It's the stage that night.
Speaker 1 (06:02):
I love it.
Speaker 2 (06:03):
Yeah, make sure if I can plug it. Make sure
you guys check out. I check right after the show,
come on down to the Save Mark Beer Garden and
show some love. We're gonna we're gonna have a good
show out there too for you guys.
Speaker 1 (06:14):
Man, I love it. See the thing is, you may
be on the Voice, you may be on Team Snoop,
but you're so five five nine And that's what it's
all about.
Speaker 2 (06:23):
A bluve five nine until I die. Man, I love it.
I love five five nine and I will never stop
loving The Central Valley as no and I'll always put
on as much as that team for him.
Speaker 1 (06:33):

wait to see you on Saturday, R and B night
