Speaker 1 (00:00):
And you're here.

Speaker 2 (00:01):
Thanks for choosing the iHeartRadio and Coast to Ghost Day

and the unexplained ends here. They invite you to enjoy
all our shows we have on this network, and right now,
let's start with Chase of the Afterlife with Sandra Champlain.

Speaker 3 (00:21):
Welcome to our podcast. Please be aware the thoughts and
opinions expressed by the host are their thoughts and opinions
only and do not reflect those of iHeartMedia, iHeartRadio, Coast
to cost Am, employees of premier networks, or their sponsors
and associates. We would like to encourage you to do

(00:41):
your own research and discover the subject matter for yourself. Hi.
I'm Sandra Champlain. For over twenty five years, I've been
on a journey to prove the existence of life after death.
On each episode, we'll discuss the reasons we now know

(01:03):
that our loved ones have survived physical death and so
will we. Welcome to Shades of the Afterlife. I hope
you're having a great day whatever it is you're doing.
I thank you for taking the time to listen to
me today. It dawned on me as I was thinking
about our episode that we never celebrated being five years together.

(01:26):
I was doing the math on my fingers, realizing we
let our fifth anniversary of Shades of the Afterlife pass
right by. So today, how about we do a little celebration.
And the way I want to do it is I
want to talk to you about the book I wrote,
We Don't Die, a skeptics discovery of life after death,

(01:46):
and share that since I wrote it so many years ago,
I've learned so much more. So what if I was
to rewrite the book and add some bonus chapters and
guess what, I'm going to make a commitment to you
today that that's what I'm going to do. So in
the next couple of months, I'll have for you an updated,
expanded edition of We Don't Die. Why did I write

(02:10):
the book? Well, first of all, I've been a long
time investigator of the afterlife, just based on my own
fear of dying. I couldn't sleep at night knowing do
I go on after death? If you've been listening long enough,
you also know that I was very skeptical about anything
after life, even though I grew up going to Catholic

(02:32):
Church and Catholic School. I never found that faith for
myself that so many people had. Of course, I studied
major world religions that believe in the afterlife, but it
didn't leave me convinced there was an afterlife. It took
several years, but I feel like I built enough evidence
that made me believe. Top on that list was having

(02:55):
my own mediumistic experiences, trying to prove mediumship wasn't real,
only to have evidence come from my own mind and
on my own mouth about other people's loved ones. So
that started the journey. In chapter one of my book,
of Course, I tell about electronic voice phenomena recording the

(03:16):
sound of raindrops, only to have people talking to me.
I know we have many longtime listeners, so I don't
want to repeat too much of my story. But if
you don't have a copy of the book of Course,
you can have a free copy. Just go to we
Doo'tdie dot com. They're on the bottom of the page.
Enter your name and email address, says you get the

(03:36):
first few chapters. The secret is it's the entire book. Today,
while we're together, I want to talk about what's in
the book and what else I'm going to put in
the updated and expanded edition for you. Even though the
book's gotten quite a few great reviews on Amazon, in

(03:57):
my heart, there's not enough evidence. Isn't my fault that
there's not enough evidence? No, because Sandra of thirteen years
ago only knew what she knew, and I shared everything
to the best of my abilities. But on this very
day that I'm recording with you, I've counted between the
episodes we have here of Shades of the Afterlife five

(04:19):
years worth, yes, And then also I still do my
one on one interviews on YouTube with great people about
why they believe in the afterlife. Combined, I have over
seven hundred and eighty individual episodes of reasons to believe
in the afterlife. So that's quite a few. And I'm

(04:41):
sure you can agree that I'm a different person today
than I was then, and so what I knew then
isn't what I know today, If that makes sense. Let
me just do a run through of what I felt
inspired to put in the book and why I chose
to write the book. I forgot to tell you is
after I did all that research and found great reasons

(05:04):
to believe for myself about the afterlife, I was too
afraid to tell anybody because I thought when you speak
this kind of lingo talking about life after death, talking
about guides, mediums and all that, that my family and
friends would disown me. And that is actually the farthest
thing from the truth. While some did, they honestly did

(05:27):
they think I'm a little bit crazy. Most people in
the world embraced it because we've all lost loved ones.
We all get to a point where we question our
own mortality, what comes next, And I'm so grateful to
be able to share. It wasn't until the death of
my dad that I decided to be courageous and share

(05:48):
what I knew. I found the heartache that comes along
with grief, and for me, even though the belief in
the afterlife didn't heal my pain, it had me I
realize what I knew about the afterlife did give me faith.
In addition, I studied so much about why we grieve,

(06:08):
why it hurts so bad, what can we do to
get through the pain. And one of the reasons I
give away my book to everybody is because chapter ten
is how to Survive Grief? Why we grieve? What happens
in the brain during grief, what's in our control, what's
out of our control? What are things we can do
to ease the pain? So I want to make sure

(06:31):
anyone who's experiencing grief download a copy of my book.
Please read chapter ten first, and I know it'll give
you some tools for your journey. Once I found those
tools for myself, I felt like I had a moral
responsibility to share. I wasn't yet ready to share my
belief in the afterlife. However, I thought if I could

(06:53):
share my words on grief, maybe it would help a
person or two. So I posted an audio called how
to Survive Grief on YouTube for free, and in no
time at all, several thousand people had heard it, and
not only did it help them understand grief, but many
people chose to not end their lives because of the

(07:14):
deep suffering they were going through. So there is the
moral responsibility. With the death of my dad, what I
knew about grief, what I knew about the afterlife, I
chose to write my book. I'm blessed that doctor Bernie
Siegel wrote the forward. He's an extraordinary oncologist surgeon, and

(07:36):
his many books are about things like the wellness connection
we have in the healing process between patient and our body,
so that mind over matter, so to speak. His best
known book is called Love, Medicine and Miracles. My dad
was one of those miracles. He had used Bernie Siegel's

(07:56):
of visualization techniques when he had had cancer thirty years before.
He passed the cancer mysteriously and miraculously went away, leaving
my dad a real proponent to share Bernie Siegel's work
with the world and raise money for him. So I
was happy that Bernie Siegel remembered my dad and wrote

(08:16):
the forward. Besides my passion for sharing the reality of
the afterlife, I wanted We Don't Die the book to
be a handbook for living. Let's face it, life on
Earth is very difficult, and I think it was meant
to be so. Throughout the pages, I interweave different things

(08:36):
about being human along with the evidence that I had
at the time for the afterlife. Some of the main
concepts I speak of in this handbook for living are
why do we come to planet Earth? What value is
it for our souls? I also talk about our skepticism
as human beings. Why is it so difficult to imagine

(09:01):
that we aren't just this body? That there is a
heaven or a hereafter, that our loved ones are very
much alive. I talk about the ego or the voice
that we each have that never shuts up, that tries
to convince us that the here and now is all
there is. And what is the point of that voice.

(09:23):
I'll just throw this in right now because I love
saying this. If we were to put a tiny camera
in one of the cells or atoms that make us up,
we are invisible vibrating energy. So as we appear real
down to our tiniest quantum particle, we are not. In fact,

(09:43):
everything we see is made up of the same energy
at its core, all vibrating within the same space. And
of course we're living on planet Earth, which is one
of billions and billions of planets in an ever expanding universe.
So sometimes it takes convincing that mind of ours that
there's a bigger picture in order for us to believe.

(10:07):
So much more on that topic in the book Yours
to read when you like, of course, I have a
chapter about the reality of life after death, and on
this episode I'm going to give you the new things
that I have investigated since I first wrote the book
thirteen years ago. Because, like I said, seven hundred and

(10:28):
eighty plus episodes later, between two podcasts, I've learned so
much more. I also talk about the world's greatest minds,
some of the people that we wouldn't think believe in
the afterlife, yet they do. I talk about the grand
illusion of life and really help readers question reality. Talk

(10:50):
about heaven. What is it?

Speaker 4 (10:52):
Where is it?

Speaker 3 (10:53):
Are we part of it? Is it somewhere beyond the clouds?
I talk about how we can slow down to whether
it's with our loved ones or I teach something called
remote viewing, which is an esp technique, believe it or not,
and why to do this. Because when you start realizing
that you can see pictures in the magazine, for instance,

(11:16):
before you open the magazine, or you can know what's
on your friend's dining room table two thousand miles away,
just by using the mind of yours, you realize you
can't just be your body and mind. I talk about
how to reconnect with our loved ones. But in truth,
I've learned so much more. Of course, Chapter ten is

(11:38):
about surviving grief, and I think there's a lot in
the book, but that chapter can set you free in
your healing process and give you some power so you
can get back to life. I talk about the genius
of our human body and what emotions are all about.
I talk about the mind, what it is, what it isn't,

(11:58):
and some habits to really charge your life as you
are a soul with a mind and a brain living
in a body, how we can best use it. That
is a very brief overview of what I talk about
in two hundred and sixty plus pages. But what else
is there? What didn't I know then that I know now.

(12:22):
I'll give you everything I can in the span of
our time together to let you know what inspires me
about life after death, what it is that keeps me
remembering that there's a bigger picture, different reasons to believe
in the afterlife, some of my favorite stories, but not
only that. What can we all do to connect with

(12:43):
our loved ones in the afterlife? How can we know
they're around for sure? And that it's not our imagination?
And what is our imagination? And the surprising fact of
why we do need it to connect with our loved
ones so much more. When we get back from the break,
we'll be right back. You're listening to Shades of the

The best afterlife information you can get. Well, you're a
long Shades of the Afterlife with Sander Champlain. Hey everyone,
it's producer Tom of Coast to Coast AM and more.
Sandras starts right now.

Speaker 3 (14:02):
Welcome back to Shades of the Afterlife. I'm Sandra Champlain,
and this is our fifth anniversary celebration. So first to
shout out to you wonderful listener. Whether this is your
first episode or believe it or not, there are people
that have listened to over two hundred and sixty episodes

(14:22):
of Shades of the Afterlife, and so, however long you've
been on your journey, thank you. I wish I could
give you everything I have learned in the last five
years and put them maybe on one little thumb drive
or a disc, and you can download them and then
all of a sudden you know everything I know. Unfortunately
I cannot do that, and I do think part of

(14:42):
the journey of being human is to come up with
our own reasons to believe our own evidence. So I
can do my very best to let you know what
I have found, what others have found. But when you
start to take that dive into the things that really
interests you, wow, you can have miracles happen. When I

(15:02):
wrote my book We Don't Die, the biggest thing I
had experienced was evidential mediumship and electronic voice phenomena, those EVPs.
I still feel with all of my heart that every
human being should at least take one class in evidential
mediumship so that you know how our soul receives information.

(15:28):
We may see a medium on a demonstration, or we
might get a reading and think that they're very special
people that can connect with the other world. The truth
is we're all special. We can all have this ability,
but just like learning to play the piano, some people
are naturally gifted, but we can all practice practice practice,

(15:49):
So when a medium works, those in the spirit world
are actually using the memory banks and the thoughts and
feelings and maybe even sense of smell and taste of
the medium. Two of my dearest friends, Kerrie McLeod and
Philip Dike's, teach our mediumship classes online and have for
over the past five years, and I've taken enough courses

(16:12):
to know that although we talk about clairvoyance seeing pictures
in our minds, the best way to access the spirit
world is through our feelings. Of course, we have a
prayer or an intention talking to them. We are real
people when we migrate to the spirit world. So you

(16:33):
can't just demand that you get evidence. You have to say, Hey,
my name's Sandra and I'm here working with my friend John.
Here is there a person on his side that's in
the spirit world that wants to give some evidence and
to have that loving prayer. And you know what, sometimes
in big demonstrations, our loved ones might not come through,

(16:54):
but they may trust the medium and it might be
easier than a one on one reading. But what we
are taught is to pay attention to our feelings first.
One of the times I gave a reading to a
fellow student, I felt as if I was in the
hospital bed with tubes going down my throat. Now it
only happened for just a brief instance, but I felt it,

(17:17):
and so when I verbalized that to the partner I
was working with, they understood that I also felt like
I was a man. I felt like I was afraid
to die. In the beginning, I felt that I was
holding the hand of my partner, and as I was
giving this evidence, the person I was working with said yes, yes, yes.

(17:38):
And then I felt like I was sipping a glass
of wine. But not just sipping a glass of red wine.
I was on the roof of our home, on a
couch that was accessed by a ladder. Now that's pretty specific,
isn't it. And when talking to the recipient, they said
that they had built a rooftop patio that they got

(17:59):
to with a and they'd go up and watch the
stars and drink red wine. Of course, the message that
came through was that this person was still with the partner, etc.
And this is just something that happened in class. We
need to be willing to be wrong in order to
be right, and instead of looking for pictures in our mind,
we start with how our body is feeling. It's just

(18:21):
one of those little tidbits about being a soul having
a human experience. We don't just get all the universal
information when we pass away. I think we still have
to learn and investigate, but we can communicate with our
loved ones. And when we learn how mediums do what
they do, we can pay more attention to people in

(18:43):
our own life. It's not just evidential mediums. There's physical mediums,
trance mediums. We've talked about this on the show, but
I think a foundation for everybody would be understanding how
your mediumistic sense works and knowing that loved ones have
to communicate telepathically with the medium in order to communicate.

(19:06):
So although I did bring up mediumship and a couple
of instances that I had experienced and some mediums of
the day thirteen years ago with my book Wow, I
learned there's so much more. I did mention near death
experiences because that's something I was familiar with, but I
didn't know how deep they went. I didn't know about

(19:27):
i AMS, the International Association for Near Death Studies. I
knew doctor Raymond Moody's name, as he had written the
groundbreaking New York Times bestseller Life After Life, and he
had first coined the phrase fifty years ago. What I
didn't know about near death experiences or NDEs is how
common they are with people, and how most of the

(19:52):
NDEs have different experiences. So although we can trust NDEs
as evidence that our concent biousness survives outside of our body.
There are as many different experiences people have as they
have here on earth, depending on which religious affiliation you are,

(20:14):
or if you even are religious, you may see Jesus,
or you might see Buddha. If you don't believe in
any religious figures, maybe there'll be that all powerful, loving
light that people experience. I know NDEs are favorites of
you shades of the afterlife listeners, so you'll see. I
always try to put some stories in quite often in

(20:36):
different episodes. But what I didn't know thirteen years ago
is there is what's called verifiable or vertical experiences. When
someone leaves their body after death, say during a heart attack,
they flatline on the table, and they're able to not
only rise out of their body, but look down and

(20:59):
accurate tell the things that they experienced and what they saw.
We've had stories of people that were able to go
down a hallway in a hospital and know exactly the
different rooms, different equipment, what the doctors look like. Say
a doctor had a spaghetti sauce stain on his tie.

(21:19):
They saw that someone's set of dentures was dropped on
the floor during surgery. The person from floating above the body,
could see what drawer and where exactly the dentures were put.
Of course, when they came back, they got their dentures back,
knowing just where they were. Someone saw a shoe on
the top of a hospital, they floated not only out

(21:41):
of their body in the room, but they went to
the top of the hospital, and they could see what
was up there, and certainly someone went up there retrieved
the shoe, and it was all exact, of course, the
work of doctor ken Ring, who studied the near death
experiences of blind people, never having vision since birth, and

(22:03):
when they flatlined and their consciousness left their body, they
could accurately see things going on and hear conversations people
were having. One person witnessed from beyond a conversation their
spouse was having with the doctor bent down to the ground,
picked up the pen for the doctor. Noticed the doctor

(22:24):
was wearing two different color socks, and was able to
come back and give that verified information, which was correct.
Not long ago, I spoke with a lovely man who
had a near death experience. Just this past winter. He
was reunited with his three year old daughter who had
died a couple of years back. But not only reunited

(22:46):
with her is the family dog showed up. Now, he
thought the family dog was alive, but when he went
back home after healing from his experience, he found out
that the was very ill and had to be put
to sleep. During the time that he was in the hospital,
he couldn't have known that. And of course, the daughter

(23:08):
walks off with the dog, and he knew that she
and the dog were in a safe place and that
he would see them again. If you heard my recent
episode talking about doctor Bruce Grayson, I love how he
says that there's so much information in the universe, but
our brains can only pick up so much while we're

(23:29):
here being human, almost like it's a funnel we funnel out.
We pay attention to what'sever important to us, and we
can't possibly conceive all the information. He said, If we
look at our telephone, it can bring through the voice
of someone, but our telephone is not our loved one,

(23:51):
just like our bodies are not us. That there is
a intelligence behind each and every one of us. And
just because our bodies die, just like if we change
and get a new cell phone, doesn't mean the voice
stops talking or the voice ceases to exist. So I'm

(24:11):
a big fan of near death experiences too, and I
always enjoy hearing them and sharing them. There's the world
of shared death experiences too. This is when someone alive
can actually witness or almost piggyback on the experience the
loved one is having, being called to the light, seeing

(24:32):
relatives that are deceased, hearing beautiful music, feeling that love,
but they can only get so far. There's also the
shared death experiences that you know when a person dies,
even if you're not around them. In the middle of
the night, you wake up and you just had a
dream with someone you know to be alive. You look

(24:54):
at the clock and it's eleven eleven, and you find
out the next day that that's the precise time your
loved one passed away. There's a whole world to explore
in near death experiences and shared death experiences. And so
when I update my expanded edition, if we don't die,
you bet there's going to be a lot of stories.

(25:14):
When I was a skeptic, I really believe that near
death experiences were just a part of a brain shutting down.
But science and medicine have proven that that is not
the case. Some scientists are not open to discuss what
they think it is because they don't know, but they
do know for sure. There's no way people can get
this verifiable information out of the blue, that our consciousness

(25:40):
is not located in the mind. Going along too, with
terminal lucidity. Just before someone passes, even if they are
close to brain dead, all of their memories can be
restored and they can have lucid conversations with people. Oh
look at the time, Time for the break, and we'll
be back with more reasons to believe in the afterlife.

(26:04):

Speaker 1 (26:55):
Hey everyone, it's the Wizard of Weird Joshua P. Warren
and now here's more Shades of the Afterlife.

Speaker 3 (27:19):
Welcome back to Shades of the Afterlife. I'm Sandra Champlain
and I'm giggling to myself because here on our fifth
anniversary edition, I wanted to give you some things that
I didn't have in my book. We Don't Die about
reasons to believe in the Afterlife. So here I am
going through over two hundred and sixty episodes of Shades

(27:40):
of the Afterlife, and there's so much more that I
could possibly say. There's no way I'm going to squeeze
it all into one episode. And of course I can't
get all these stories into one book. It would take
somebody two hundred and sixty hours to read or listen
to an audiobook. So I'll just do the best I can,

(28:01):
and I promise you I'll put the best stories into
the updated edition of the book. There's some reasons to
believe in the afterlife that I'm not consistently participating in.
One is instrumental trans communication, that is recording voices through EVP,

(28:22):
also through scientists and researchers, not only capturing voices from
the other side, but capturing images. There's different pioneers including
Sonia and Aaldi who can record, for example, static and
then when she goes through the frames of the recording,
people's faces show up there. Now we're not talking about

(28:44):
vague faces. We're talking about in color, clear faces of
loved ones and pictures that people don't have from when
they were alive. We have that documentary on her on
my website. PS. We have a new film coming out
called Evidence of the Afterlife Saving Evidential Mediumship in the
next couple of months. I'll let you know when that

(29:06):
comes out. I think the favorite topic I have to
research personally are deathbed visions. These are when someone is
just about to pass away and lo and behold they
see their mom, their dad, their childhood pet, friends they
had when they were younger. I can't get enough of

(29:28):
these stories personally. It shows me the intelligence of the
universe that no one dies alone. Some of the best
work is Christopher Kerr, who is a hospice doctor in
palliative care Buffalo. He's got a YouTube channel with lots
of videos, and he has a book out called Death

(29:50):
Is But a Dream where he researched over sixteen hundred
or seventeen hundred people and they're dying days, hours, months
prior to their p and our loved ones come to
us looking young and healthy, most of the time, letting
us know get ready, we're going on a trip. What

(30:11):
I think is so spectacular about this is this is
not a byproduct of any drugs that people may be on.
In fact, if they are on painkillers and such, they
don't talk about these deathbed visions. These are people who
are lucid up until the time of their passing. They
clearly see loved ones coming from the other world as

(30:36):
clear as they might see you or another family member
by their bedside. These deathbed visions also have verified deathbed visions,
meaning people can know and see deceased people that they
didn't know or dead. For instance, a gentleman that I

(30:56):
knew who passed a few years ago. He was a
hospice chaplain, and he said when his dad was close
to the end of his death, first of all, he
had one of these terminal lucidity moments. He had been
in a coma, hadn't spoken in months. All of a
sudden he sprang to life, and he was connected to
tubes and everything, but he tried to swing his legs

(31:18):
over the side of the bed and get up, and
he's got a big smile on his face, and he's
looking out into the heavens. I guess. Of course, the
doctors came rushing in. The adult children were there and
wanted to know what he saw. And he was talking
about how beautiful the afterlife was, all the people that
he saw there, how young and healthy they looked, and

(31:40):
even one of his good friends. Now here's the thing.
He didn't know his friend had died, but he had
died a couple months earlier when the dad was sick
and no one had told the father that his friend
had died. He got the message that he had a
week or two left to live, to do the things
that were important to him with his body before he
would be taken home. And he wanted to have a

(32:02):
cherry pie, hot funge Sunday, wear a suit, be with
his kids watching his favorite football team. And he did
all of those things, and he passed away on a
Christmas Eve. I always encourage you if there's a topic
that you're interested in, see what you can find on YouTube.
For instance, if you type in deathbed visitations on YouTube,

(32:25):
you'll see stories from hospice nurses, doctors, and other people.
And in the comments, so many people share their families experiences.
They're just amazing. Same thing goes for near death experiences
and signs from loved ones, you name it. If it's

(32:45):
a reason to believe in the afterlife, there's plenty of
people talking about it. And there's some regular, everyday people
that might not have a book or they might not
have a podcast, but they've got stories of why they believe.
So always check out the comments in those YouTube videos.
But for me, those are some of the most reassuring stories.

(33:06):
That nobody dies alone, and even if the person is
a hardcore atheist, there's so many stories of their loved
ones coming to visit and they never believed in this.
This year brought me a big experience being introduced to
doctor Tom Nimi and his work with induced after death
communication therapy. Now, this is therapy. This is not like

(33:30):
paying for a medium for an hour and getting a reading.
This is for those who are deeply grieving, and although
it's called induced after death Communication therapy. It is a
grief therapy. However, over seventy five percent of the people
who have this therapy have a direct experience of being

(33:53):
with their deceased loved one. Tom the author of the
book Inspired Life, Beautiful Death, is a psychologist and first
heard about IADC therapy on an earlier episode of my podcast.
When things sound too good to be true, you know
sometimes they are. However, doctor Tom had to do the

(34:16):
research because if there is a method that can help
the grieving, he wanted to do it. Not only did
he find out it is real and a wonderful way
to help those in pain, he did a long distance
therapy session with myself that gave me unexpected results. First

(34:37):
discovered by a doctor Alan Botkin, IADC therapy can be difficult.
You recall some of the deepest, saddest, painful memories thinking
of your loved one, lots of tears involved, but at
the same time doing what's called EMDR which is a
series of eye movements or tapping at the same time

(35:02):
you are reliving these memories. If you go back to
episodes two thirty one and two thirty two, I believe
you can hear my experience and also my interview with
Tom about it. Although the therapy isn't easy, after a
certain amount of time doing the eye movements or the tapping,

(35:22):
the emotion is no longer connected to the memory of
your loved one. So that's how you can release the
grief in a wonderful way. And as a byproduct, you
can have an experience with your loved one, feeling their presence,
seeing them And for me, I had the experience of
not only my dad, but my loved ones in the

(35:44):
room with me and seeing a slideshow of who they
all were, and of course they looked young and healthy.
And the beauty of this therapy is it can be
done on zoom. You don't need to be in person
with the therapist. When I update the book, I will
also put in the worlds of dreaming, how our loved

(36:04):
ones can communicate with us through dreams through what's called
automatic writing. I'll include stories of pets, because you better
believe it, our pets go on to live in the
afterlife and we will be there with them as well.
There's a whole world of signs from our loved ones,

(36:25):
and some of the signs are just too obvious to
ignore synchronicities. Things happen out of the blue and you
attribute them to your loved ones, or could be a
bird or an animal that comes by, but you could
smell their cologne or pipe that they smoke. You can
actually feel their presence. You can hear their voice. Some

(36:47):
people find feathers other signs through nature. We can feel
their touch. Sometimes you might feel your partner laying right
there in the bed, or even a dog or cat
puzzling up against you. So the physical touch is there.
There's objects in the house that move, lending towards physical

(37:08):
signs that happen. Now we're living in a time of technology,
so there have been signs of lights going on and off,
smoke detectors going off in weird ways, people receiving text
messages and emails from loved ones unexplainably long after they
pass something comes from their email address with the perfect message.

(37:31):
There are many books and many discussions we've had in
the past about after death communications, and there are plenty
of times where people have felt the presence of their
loved one. They've seen their loved one many times out
of the corner of their eye, or they might see
them coming out of a dream, waking up in the morning,
they feel their presence. I'm not the only one investigating this.

(37:55):
In fact, on the two hundred and sixty plus episodes,
every time we talk on one of these topics, we
often speak to someone who is an expert in the
field or hasn't written a book on these various ways
of communication. I am completely of the belief that heaven
or the afterlife isn't out there somewhere, that we are

(38:19):
vibrating in the same reality that they are. If you
wave your hand really fast in front of your face,
it seems to disappear. Our loved ones. Just because their
human energy is gone doesn't mean they don't continue to
live on. When we can quiet our busy mind, that
is one of the access ways to connect with them,

(38:42):
which is what we're going to do when we get
back from the break. I'd like to talk about different
ways that we can connect with our loved ones so
that we can have some confirmation for ourselves that they
live on. As I speak about energy, two or more
forms of energy can live at the same place at

(39:02):
the same time, just like you're probably connected to wireless
internet right now, or you're hearing radio waves, television waves
are around you, GPS signals so much invisible energy is
real even if we can't see it. The afterlife is real.
You will see your loved ones again. Your life is

(39:23):
for a reason, and we'll be right back. You are

Speaker 3 (40:53):
Welcome back to Shades of the Afterlife. I'm Sandra Champlain
and we've actually just completed five years to go of
Shades of the Afterlife. A shout out to our friends
at iHeartRadio and also my good friend Tom dan Heiser,
producer of the show and producer of Coast to Coast
A m with the wonderful George Nori. At the beginning,

(41:14):
I told you something about imagination. We human beings think
because we imagine something, we make it up sometimes, of course,
but not in relation to connecting with those in the afterlife.
If you would imagine being in the spirit world right now.

(41:35):
We've heard countless stories that we communicate with our thoughts.
These are all generated in our mind. So there you
are sitting by a river in the spirit world, loving life.
All is well, You feel like a hot fudge Sunday.
You open your hand, Do you imagine it there? It
is sounds pretty great, right. You want to travel to

(41:56):
the Grand Canyon, or to the Eiffel Tower, or some
outer space even and you think it and you are there.
When our loved ones communicate with us from the other side.
They are using their thoughts to direct their energy to
make things happen, to make mediums see them or hear them,
to make lights go on and off if they can

(42:20):
do that, or TV go on and off, or any
of those different signs. It all happens through the mind.
Now I'm not talking about the brain. The brain is
different from our mind. Our mind goes on, so we
with our human minds are connected and will be connected
because that mind comes with us after passing. So I

(42:44):
always say it's important to engage our creativity, our imagination,
and that strengthens our ability to communicate. So how do
we ask for signs from our loved ones. That's just it.
Ask for them. There's something specific you would like to
see from your loved one to let them know they

(43:05):
are around, ask for it. Keep in mind, we are
still us when we go to the other world. So
if I ask my ninety one year old grandmother to
send me a text message, it may not happen. She
didn't do text messaging. Plus, I do think it's hard
for those on the other side to work with technology.

(43:27):
The more younger people that are familiar with it that
get over there. I think the more we're going to
find some of these signs through technology, but they do happen.
So if you're thinking of a purple dinosaur, put that
out to your loved one and then let it go.
Do not look every hour for the purple dinosaur. Just

(43:48):
pay attention in the next week or two. Keep a
journal of signs that come through synchronicities. Times that a
song will come on the radio that was your song
or had just the right message for you. Our human
minds want to tell us that this is just our imagination,
that we are making it up, that we are a

(44:10):
product of this earth, and the afterlife cannot be real.
So again, remember you are on a planet hurling around
a ever expanding universe, and down to your tiniest fragment,
you are invisible, vibrating energy. Sometimes we need to remind
ourselves of that. We can also do what's called automatic writing.

(44:33):
Get a pen, get a journal, Talk to your loved
one and write to them, and then say, if you
were to write back to me, what would you say.
Quite your mind just a bit and let the pen flow.
Whatever thoughts come to mind. Just write them down, don't
edit them. Don't think, oh, this is crazy. Here's the thing.
In time, your loved one can get practice knowing that

(44:57):
you wish to communicate this way. In the beginning, it
could be ninety nine percent you and one percent their influence.
But in time they can influence your thoughts which will
lead to what comes out of your handwriting. Or you
can do this on the computer as well. Psychologist doctor
Matthew McKay didn't believe in any of this, and he

(45:21):
now talks about how he communicates with his son in
spirit the very same way. Steven Simon, director and producer
of the film What Dreams May Come with Robin Williams,
he communicates with his wife this very same way as well.
Let's talk about the dream world. When we dream of
our loved one and we wake up that it was

(45:43):
real and it was loving, that is a dream visitation.
When our dreams are all over the place and disturbing,
and our loved one might make a guest appearance but
didn't feel good, that is our subconscious when we sleep
at night, I am can vince those dreams are like
a bilge pump going through some of our experiences and memories,

(46:05):
and they're just out of control and they are very weird.
But we do get guest appearances by our loved ones
that make it feel like it was not a dream,
so look for those loving instances. On a past episode,
I also spoke about lucid dreaming. This is when you
wake up or set an alarm for say two or

(46:25):
three in the morning, and then you go back to sleep.
You are in a different dream state. And if you
can practice during the day doing something such as paying
attention to your hand, looking at your hand, saying oh,
I see my hand, I see my hand, I see
my hand, get your subconscious use to looking at your

(46:45):
hand when you go back to bed. For lucid dreaming,
you're in a different kind of a dream state, and
you may say, oh, let me look at my hand.
When you look at your hand, you might have six
or seven fingers. You'll realize you're in a dream and
you can ask your loved one to come visit you. There.
There has been verifiable information that's come through lucid dreaming

(47:09):
from loved ones. Some yes, could be our imagination, but
in lucid dreaming, I've actually spoken to my dad, I
felt his hug, and there is no one who can
tell me that that was just my imagination and that
was my dad. If you're interested, you can try electronic
voice phenomena. It is laboursome and it takes practice listening

(47:32):
to recordings talking to your loved one. Sometimes you have
to loop the sounds over and over and over again.
But there's many experts, including doctor Sherry Pearl. We've talked
to Sonya Andaldi. There's different ways to do it, and
if that's something that interests you, you never know what
your loved ones may say. It's a fun thing to explore,

(47:52):
for sure. Some people use a pendulum with a circle
that's got the letters of the alphabet on it. They
hold the pendulum over it. They can also have yes
and no on there as well. They talk to their
loved one and they see and watch how their loved
one may spell out different things. Now, is it your
loved one spelling it out? I honestly think that they

(48:15):
influence our thoughts, maybe subconsciously, and that we may be
doing the little movements to point to the different letters
or yes or no. We can ask our loved ones
to step close to us. Maybe you're at the kitchen
table and close your eyes and just ask them to
step close. Now. Depending on the relationship, you might want

(48:37):
to have them touch your arm or kiss you on
the cheek, and just pay attention to those gentle energy shifts.
Sometimes you get the goosebumps. Sometimes you might just feel
them around. Now again, I have to tell you they're
still them, So they need to want to participate in this.
But keep talking to them. Journal it let them know

(48:57):
what's working, what isn't working. That's a way to communicate.
On many Mondays, where with trance medium Scott Milligan for
a class called Trance in the Altered States, it's just
an opportunity to learn how to slow down that very
busy mind, which is crucial for being in the present moment.
It helps build our own personal soul power. It helps

(49:21):
with healing, but it also helps those in the other
side of life to work with us. It helps mediums
become better mediums. It helps us feel that gentle, loving
presence in our busy lives. It would take maybe a
bolt of lightning to break me out of everything that
I'm doing on the computer, listening for the text messages.

(49:43):
Mom's calling me in the other room, she's got the
TV on. I'm thinking about what we're going to cook
for dinner. All these things are happening, it'll be nearly
impossible for a loved one to get through. But when
we can practice quieting our mind, practice talking to them,
they have an opportunity to let us know that they're
still with us. So Scott calls it the tingles. We

(50:05):
ask them to step close and just feel maybe the
goosebumps or just a gentle shift and energy. One of
my most favorite ways is simply talking to them and
having some memories of really good times that we had together,
taking a walk down memory lane in my mind, recalling

(50:26):
the love, the joy, the laughter, whatever it is, and
then asking them, can you be in touch? Can you
show me some signs? Can you talk to me? And
then be present in your life whatever it is you're doing,
be fully there in the moment. Sometimes, when I'm editing
these episodes for you, my former boyfriend Michael, who has passed,

(50:50):
will all of a sudden, out of the blue imprint
a memory of a vacation we took together, or some
meal that he cooked for me. It comes out of
the Those are just little calling cards from them saying
I'm right here with you. We can include them in
our holiday times, but just be aware. Part of being

(51:10):
human is that little voice inside of our heads that says,
this can't be real. I must be making this up.
That's our ego and that is part of being human.
We can't get rid of it, but we can remind
ourselves that the afterlife is real and our loved ones
are with us. The two practices that I love most,

(51:31):
besides obviously taking a medium class where you are actively
working with your loved ones and bringing through messages in
the safety of an online classroom, is on Fridays we
offer that in the Arms of Eternity with Scott Milligan,
and on those occasions we get to talk to a
member of the spirit world and ask questions. It really

(51:52):
reminds me of such a bigger picture going on and
that we are always loved and always supported. And the
other thing is on Sundays we have that free Sunday gathering. Yes,
it's an inspirational service on Zoom, but half of it,
at least forty five or fifty minutes, is a medium
demonstration and loved ones come through from all over the

(52:15):
world for people, and it's so special to me. There's
not going to be anyone on this planet that can
convince me that the afterlife isn't real, that our loved
ones aren't still alive, and that we won't see them again.
They are alive. We'll see them again. They're part of
our life. Love is real. You are an eternal soul

(52:36):
having a human experience. So with that, come join me
sometime at one of our events we Don't Die dot Com.
I'd love to meet you. From the bottom of my heart.
