Speaker 1 (00:06):
You're listening to the All Sport Breakfast podcast with Darcy
Wildegrave from Newstalks.
Speaker 2 (00:11):
Edb Let's head deep into the Heartland and now, of
course the championship is what we are all about, and
a man knows more about that than I'd suggest. The
people who run the show is our boy, Kevin here, Kevin,
welcome to the program. This is another big weekend of
Heartland rugby. I can hear you drooling from Hairmte.
Speaker 3 (00:32):
It's definitely one hundred A case scenario of this is
the week. This is the week where everyone has to
make their moves, solidify their places in the in the championship,
meads Lahorror and hopefully squeak him and get out of
that bottom four.
Speaker 2 (00:51):
Right. So we're are the big classes? What particularly interests you?
And you can't say everything? Okay? Can I pick a
few out of the hat?
Speaker 3 (00:59):
Okay? Well, Mid Canterbury Wanganui A is a big battle
second versus third the new holders of the bill Osborne
Tonga and they travel down to Windy Ashburton and well,
I mean my favorites to take this one out, but
I don't know. Mitd Canterbury are on a bit of
(01:19):
a roll at the moment. I did have them in
my top four this year, and I do me okay,
but I also have Wangadilly sort of just missing out.
So I'll probably have to lean towards an upset here
and say that the Hammers will deal to the Butcher
Boys in a tighter fear.
Speaker 2 (01:38):
When it comes to the competition in general? What are
we up to round five? Now? Aren't we? Is anything.
Speaker 3 (01:46):
Drawn to you?
Speaker 2 (01:48):
Have you seen you think? You thought? That's odd as
far as results or play or style or anything at all.
Speaker 3 (01:55):
No, not really at the moment. It is sort of
running to script. I suppose the poor team at the
moment would be one rapper Bush, but they had They've
had a really really tough drawer. I mean they played
South Canterbury. I've played teams and and who they play?
Speaker 2 (02:18):
Didn't they? Did they be Poverty Bay last week?
Speaker 3 (02:22):
No? No, they are playing Poverty Bay tomorrow. Sorry, sorry,
I tell a lie. I am getting ahead of myself.
I'm too excited. They finally got the win last week
against Poverty Bay and the Jeremy David Memorial Cup up
in Gisbone. They they got off to a flyer. Literally,
they had a bonus point by halftime. So yeah, so
(02:44):
I mean the back in the hunt, should we say,
And they've got a really really good home run. So
they've got Horror Fanilla Capity at home at Martindon on
the plastic and so that should be a good game.
And that's the live Sky game as well. But and
then next week they have got a tough battle against
(03:07):
Wanganilly the following week for a bill Osborne attempt. We'll
be about their third crack at it too, so they've
had a few cracks at that trophy. But then they
rounded off with matches against West Coast at home and
then round out the season with a home game against
(03:28):
the Mite. Where are we blah blah blah losing my
thing away game to East Coast? So they've other than
that South Canterbury game they could pick up a good
fifteen twenty points. So it'll be interesting to see where
they end up. I've got a ceiling. They might just
miss out on Meads Cup and end up in Little War,
which isn't bad for wire Rappa Bosch.
Speaker 2 (03:50):
Can poverty by turn their fortunes around against Buller or
not well, I.
Speaker 3 (03:57):
Today have literally updated the programs and all that and
there was like three or four changes to their squad.
Bulla so unlucky in the rundle cut last weekend they
had it and then they just failed in the line outs.
But it will be a home game. The weathers meant
to be a bit a fee again this weekend and
(04:19):
the weather has played a big part and all the
results this year. It is a must win. Whoever loses
against Buller and Poverty Bay today will be literally playing
out the rest of the season just for pride because
you know five point one here would see them pushing
the World Cup status pleenty.
Speaker 2 (04:40):
To look at. And if you want the entire skinny
on that, go to where the blood, sweat and tears
of Kevin Here lands every week. Your website, Kevin what
is it?
Speaker 3 (04:51):
It's Rugby Heartland dot co dot nz and you can
also find us on the old Facebook at Facebook dot
com forward slash Rugby Heartland and I'll just also point
out South Canterbury top of the table going for win
number thirty six.
