Speaker 1 (00:06):
You're listening to the All Sport Breakfast podcast with Darcy
Waldegrave from News Talk ZB.
Speaker 2 (00:12):
There's only one Jim Dolan, one Dan Dolan, Only one
Jim dol Can.
Speaker 3 (00:16):
I Jim Dolan morning. I can't believe you are giving
someone grief about their dress since.
Speaker 2 (00:22):
Well I wasn't. It was just this whole building has
been flooded with the blue and black vertical stripes of
Auckland EFC ahead of the start. It's almost like everybody's
forgotten what the Phoenix have done in the league. You know.
It's like, man, I'm just wearing a brown T shirt.
There's nothing changed here. So I commend them. They've really
reached out and people are buying into it. But I'm
(00:44):
still waving a week flag from old the Phoenix. That's
fair enough, isn't it.
Speaker 3 (00:48):
Jim, Yes, absolutely brilliant.
Speaker 2 (00:50):
Well, tell us about Brisbane's approach to WALKLANFC. Are they
going to flog them or watter DATCIA.
Speaker 3 (00:55):
En't exactly received loads of coverage this match in the
start the A League and a brand new team there.
But Brisbane eight players could make it a league debut
in raw colors this afternoon, so we're not really sure
what to expect from the Brisbane Boys either. When they
take on the New York at FC looking to ruin
their party, coach Ruben Zadkovich says these are the sorts
(01:18):
of games they must start winning to be contenders this season,
so they're saying all the right things. Whether that translates
to the action when they take on Steve Correcus meant
in what will be a fairly one sided crowd, I
would imagine, and the rowdy afternoon should be good for
good for the game and hopefully they show something. Yet
(01:40):
the fans all back next week that it's not exactly
received loads of curries and being behind a paywall in
Australia probably not going to help it at this time.
Sydney FC the preseason favorites. They play the Wanderers tonight,
that too should have a fairly decent crowd out at Wonderland.
Not a great advertisement for the game with the first
(02:01):
match last night the Mariners in the Melbourne victory Neil
Neil sides event in the Grand Final last year.
Speaker 2 (02:08):
Just quickly, Jim, how much rope does Auckland FC get
considering they've only just started as a club, but how
long before the fans go not interested, what do they
have to do what happens in the next few months.
Speaker 3 (02:20):
I think let's just well winning games for all those helps.
That silence is all critics and if you play a
player style that is attractive too, that that can get
there and colorful characters. Their coaches don't always like them,
fans love them.
Speaker 2 (02:36):
And let's just forget if I even said about that.
I don't want to waste anything bad on the mosoever
at all, really hoping for a good turnout and a
full crowd. Let's hope a big weekend for the Test hopefuls.
Over in Australia.
Speaker 3 (02:50):
Yeah, there's concerns raised about Australia's aging Test attack and
how they might handle five Test matches against the might
of India this summer in a short period of time.
I did have an asterisk greet. Australia may also have
(03:10):
somes about Dave's floorido five crowds if they bat like
to get to New Zealand. In the current Test match,
we've got Cameron Green he's out requiring back surgery, the
all rounder, so that means that the bowlers will have
a heavier workload unless they can miraculously pull Mitch marsh
out and keep him fit for five Tests, so that
means today, well this weekend. Michael Nisa for Queensland. He's
(03:32):
been on the fringe for a long time, a very
well performed bowler and with the him out he swings at.
He offers something different to the others in the Australian attack,
so he'll be happy to stand up and do his job.
He can bat a bit too, And then of course
Scott Boland who seems to be the man just on
the fringe and brought in. He's playing for Victoria in
the Sheffield Chill match. It starts tomorrow. And of course
(03:52):
the New South Wales wonder kid Sam Constance is in
the New South Wales side. Obviously nineteen year old with
two centuries on his first match for New South Wales's
last start. He's a chance to replace Dave Warners right
into the team. So looking forward to that little battle
within a battle. Hopefully the weather will be good, then
we'll get a strong Australian team and hopefully it won't
(04:15):
happen the next couple of days, but like see India
get back to their best at some stage too.
Speaker 2 (04:19):
And Jim Dolan, the tallest of top hats and the
flashiest of fancies that are going to be there on
the course. It's getting it, but royal, isn't it With
the racing.
Speaker 3 (04:29):
Yes, the richest horse race on grass this afternoon, Royal
Randwick with some added Royal King Charles and Camilla expected
to be in attendance. It already has more than forty
thousand yahoos turn up to this and it's different to
most races because this has been manufactured to get the
next generation. Most of the people there today will be
in the early twenties. This is not exactly the Royal demographics.
(04:53):
So it's been a fairly low key start to the
Royal visit and I'm thinking most of these kids there
today probably won't even be aware that Charles is there.
And yeah, it's like I said, it's for young people
and it's finally the AGC's got the race. They want
every horse starting today as a chance to win. And
(05:13):
if you're a punter, I'm pretty sure you're not Darcy,
but maybe jockey Rachel King on Lady of Camelot could
be an omen With Prince charlesa not sure if he's
going to sash the win it or confusion or I
go there.
Speaker 2 (05:26):
Don't underestimate my ability. I used to have shares and
a horse, which I might add never want anything. Good
on you, Jim Dolan, thanks very much for yours. May
you have a cracking weekend, my friend. It is twenty
minutes to eight. Fascinators at the four and fancy top
heads are racing.
