Speaker 1 (00:06):
You're listening to the All Sport Breakfast podcast with Darcy
Waldgrave from News Talk SEDB.
Speaker 2 (00:11):
Hey twenty seven off now to Lake OUATANAFA the New
Zealand Rowing Championships. The final day. It's all on Jared Cummings,
he's the GM of Sport Development, joins us. It is
a huge few days, sixty four plus races. I think
by my last count, there's a massive piece of organization.
Jared welcome.
Speaker 3 (00:32):
Yeah, thanks Darcy here. It's an incredible effort here down
Lake Rutanifer. Beautiful part of the country, as I'm sure
you know. And yeah, we had some wonderful volunteers doing
some great work over the last well seven days that
the regett is only as if there's five. For the
last seven has been real. We fit getting it going
and you're really in press by the whole expectacle.
Speaker 2 (00:53):
Really, So what are we looking forward to today? Because
it's final stay there's a lot going on and we
go right through obviously men's, women's intermedia, you've got seniors
premiers and everything. Everything you're finishing now, isn't it.
Speaker 3 (01:08):
Yeah, the whole game. But really we've had half the
finals yesterday, so we've we've covered off a big chunk
of them yesterday men's and women's premiere doubles and singles
in Peers. That was some great racing yesterday. Had some
notable notable results there in terms of UH Ketterine Glenn's
one of our Olympia Elite athletes, Shennon Cox olympian attending
(01:34):
winning some races as well as UH Robbie Menson featured
frigid highly in a couple of races, just in the
single and but then won the double. So that was
nast year. Today today you're looking forward to some really
well great racing men's women's at the end of the day,
we've we've also got some some some cool novice races
(01:56):
that will be coming up as well, nobas men's squad,
women's squad, and as you mentioned, the senior and senior
and intermediate events as well, So it'll be great.
Speaker 2 (02:06):
Big clubs. Is anyone putting their nose up and both.
Speaker 3 (02:10):
Look at it's a bit of a big battle at
North and South here. We've actually got it dead even
at the moment between AV and Ryan Club and why
at a Ryan Club three hundred and ninety two points
each exactly, which is pretty spectacular after day one to
have such an even thing. They are the two big
clubs in our sports. Lots of other ones trying to
get up there to be up next to them though,
(02:32):
but they're leaving at the moment and having a heaven
and pressive showing.
Speaker 2 (02:35):
Definitely, you've got a number of trophies up for grabs
there they were everywhere. It's a tin feast, isn't it?
What the burned fry bird cups? Probably the biggie, isn't it?
That is a whole lot more.
Speaker 3 (02:47):
Yeah, rowings are a pretty traditional sport. There's been, you know,
a build up over time. Really, those that silverware has
obviously built up over more than one hundred years, hundred
and fifty years. Some of our clubs are in terms
of age, so there tends to be some fairly fancy
bits of tin hanging about. So yeah, agreed with it.
(03:07):
Entirely cool.
Speaker 2 (03:09):
Sorry Rubs Rooster, that's got to be the coolest on Hey,
where can we watch this? If anywhere? People want to
catch up on the action on the lake Jared Cummings,
where do we go?
Speaker 3 (03:18):
Yeah? Head onto Rowing Hub. It's our premium video content website.
You can watch some amazing content sponsored by Milford. Milford
is our live stream sponsor. They are really helping us
out this year. The quality of the content is amazing.
It's TV level content. Content that we've got replays and
(03:41):
you know, everything going at. Brendan Telford is doing the
commentary on the live stream, so yeah, we've got some
great content trying to engage the public and rowing hub
heat on there and have a lot the Sage.
Speaker 2 (03:53):
With all due respect Brendan Telford, it's magnificent age. Thanks
for your time. Jared Cummings. Mate, you enjoy your weekend.
I know you will. What a place to be. It's
tremendous that part of the world sow had bro.
