What a blackeye for Grant Dalton.

Peter Burling's move to Luna Rossa says so much about their relationship, or the strained nature of it at least.

It was a shock when Peter elected to walk away from negotiations with Team NZ, a bigger shock that he’s now tied his colours to the mast of Luna Rossa’s AC75.

His exact role is not yet known, to us anyway, and should the protocol stop him from climbing on board, I really don’t think that matters. His ability to point his dinghy in the right direction is plainly off the scale, that in itself would be a kidney punch to TNZ, but it’s what he brings off the briny deep that will have the rest of the fleet a little freaked out.

The amount of intellectual property Pete has stuffed in his noggin I’d say is unmatched across the America's Cup. His mana alone in the sailing world casts an enormous shadow over any regatta, his presence within the Italian set up will lift their performance just knowing he’s there.

I’m surprised in that, as a new parent, I figured he would continue to maintain full engagement in Sail GP, a competition he has full skin in, and be dad the rest of the time. He says he’s looking forward to the family lifestyle in Italy, so obviously the demands of Luna Rossa are nowhere near as oppressive as life in a corrugated iron shed with Grant.

He’s going to be able to breathe, to live, to be his own man.

Dum vivimus vivamus.

Seventy nine News Talks AIRB on your Sport Breakfast. So
what a black ia for for Dalton? What a slap
in the face, punching the nose, knee and that, Well,
you know what I'm saying. Peter Birlings moved to Luna Rossa.
It says so much about their relationship or that's strained
nature of it at least right. I don't know this personally.

(00:33):
I don't know either of these guys, probably know Peter
bit more than I know Grant that I'm saying, I
don't know what went on, but to the outside look
of it, that's a strained relationship. There was a big
shot when Peter elected to a walk away from negotiations
with Team New Zealand, and it was a bigger shot.
Now he's tied as colours to the master of Luna
Ross's AC seventy five. We've gone through this before, many

(00:55):
many many year ago, when successful sailors have upsticked and
bugger off to the opposition and it went down like
a cup of cold sick. I was actually started working
in this industry about the time that the Great Murraydeeka.
We'd absolutely spare over it. That was quite a time
to be involved in sport radio. I don't think this

(01:16):
is as big, but as his that role wasn't known
yet right to us anyway. And should the protocols stop
him from actually climbing on board, which I expect the will,
I don't really think it matters. It's well, his ability
to point the dinghy in the right direction is off
the scale. We know that. I mean that in itself,
if possible, would be an absolute kidney punch to Team

(01:38):
New Zealand. But it's what he brings off the briny
deep that'll have the rest of the fleet and team
in a little freaked out. The amount of intellectual property
Pete has stuffed in his noggin, i'd say is unmatched
across the America's Cup. His mana alone in the sam
world casts an enormous shadow over any ragatta like his
presence within the Italian setup will lift their performance just

(02:02):
knowing he's there. They don't have to do anything, just
have to stand in the room and go hi and
Pete burling everything lifts not I'm surprised and that as
a new parent, I forget he would continue to maintain
full engagement sale gp a competition, that he's got full
skin and be dad the rest of the time. But
he said he's looking forward to the family lifestyle in Italy.

(02:25):
So obviously the demands of Luna Rossa are knowing near
as oppressive as life and a corrugated iron shed. With Grant,
He's going to be able to breathe, he's going to
be able to live. And I'm laid him with ridiculous
sayings from my life and one that sits with me
very comfortably, and one that sits I think with Peter

(02:46):
Berling is doom. Will we miss? Will wey miss? While
we live? Let us live? Good on your pete good move.
