Speaker 1 (00:06):
You're listening to the All Sport Breakfast podcast with Darcy
Waltergrave from News Talk SEDB.
Speaker 2 (00:11):
We'll go to the All Blacks camp so explained only
a couple of minutes ago, victory at Eden Park. Well,
it was a massive relief for the entire rugby nation,
I'm sure, but you got to keep that pressure on
the game has to keep lifting. Twenty four to seventeen
yet good score. But what can this adjusted All Black
(00:35):
side do to this severely adjusted Springbok team. Hmm, well
we'll find out when they played a night five past seven.
That's live and free on News Talk ZB with Elliott Smith.
You can listen on iHeartRadio as well. Five past seven.
That game cacks off and if you wantever gander take
a look at Sky's Sport one. Timy Allison excuse me,
(00:57):
Tumarty Tarmaty Ellison, assistant coach for the All Blacks. He
joins us now to give us his perspective on the match.
He Tummoty, how are you? Thank you excited much? That's
probably the understatement. You got a chance to nail the
spring box to the post for the second consecutive week.
That's got to be tasty.
Speaker 3 (01:16):
Yeah, it's been a great week.
Speaker 4 (01:17):
I think, you know, the rivalry naturally fuels the energy,
so it's good to be Becky in the capital.
Speaker 2 (01:24):
I'm just talking about the team that was named Scott
robertson that even though there's been a number of changes,
it still has a real feeling of continuity about it
has a sense of these players know where they're playing
and what they're doing. It doesn't look too interrupted. Is
that the feeling you get in training as well with
the changes?
Speaker 4 (01:42):
Yeah, I probably haven't really thought of it that way.
Speaker 3 (01:46):
You know, the group's been together now for for a.
Speaker 4 (01:49):
Number of weeks, so we're starting to get our flower
around the trainings and what goes where, So I think
that's important. There's a natural rhythm to the group so
that you know the changes are not as major being
intes seven.
Speaker 2 (02:03):
Who are is the most on? Do you think from
the lineup from the fifteen of the twenty three? Is
there a pressure point anywhere? Do you believe?
Speaker 3 (02:10):
I think?
Speaker 4 (02:12):
You know, Bomfer's trained really well this week. You know,
he's been the energy and the excitement. Zecharis has been
really good. So it's but it's been nice to see.
Speaker 2 (02:20):
I note that you've actually got a half back playing
on the wing. Did you have any idea of the
history of levery category he actually played back in the
steamer days way back when.
Speaker 3 (02:31):
Yeah. Yeah, know, we've known that for a wee while,
so that's good.
Speaker 4 (02:34):
It's just as I said, his energy and his enthusiasm
has been I'm contagious around the group on a week
that you know we've we've probably understand how how big
of the challenge is.
Speaker 2 (02:44):
Again, I kind of figured you were talking about him,
but I've never heard been called bumper before. Is it
from Justin Marshall?
Speaker 3 (02:51):
Is it?
Speaker 4 (02:52):
I'm actually sure where it's originated from.
Speaker 3 (02:55):
But yeah, I'll leave Kada.
Speaker 2 (02:56):
Yeah, the lift and performance, you're always looking for that
right across the borders. There a specific area where you'd
like to see just a little bit more war from your.
Speaker 4 (03:06):
Men, I think not in any real specific area. The
challenges in the areas where we executed, in the areas
where you know, we thought we were really physical as
again to take another step up. So we've been really
clear on where we feel like that growth is this week,
and you know, and pointing those areas.
Speaker 2 (03:26):
Yeah, a proper half back not saying that isn't but
you've got no oh the hot hand, hope them in there.
How's his engagement been because he would have been absolutely
bouncing to get on the park, wouldn't he.
Speaker 4 (03:38):
Yeah, like he trained last week and looked really good.
And no, it's quick, quick across the ground like he's
deceptively fast.
Speaker 3 (03:46):
So I was good to see him back with his rhythm.
Speaker 4 (03:48):
He's a confident could he's physical as well, so it's
been nice to see now back in the group.
Speaker 2 (03:54):
I think that friendly Christie did really well considering where
he was in the peaking order, and he came in
and he put on some couple of really good performances.
How's his headspace after being sat back down on the bench.
Speaker 3 (04:05):
Again, it's been really good.
Speaker 4 (04:07):
He's an experienced nine at this level and coming in
when he did and pressure games and performing is really
good for you know, for the competition and the Nines,
and you know, defensively he was great for us last
week also, But he's been as good as he was
the week previous, in the week before that, And that's
expectation around the group of you know, who starts was
(04:29):
off the bench and who outside the twenty.
Speaker 2 (04:32):
Three You're talking about expectations, I'm presuming you all expected
Rassi Rasmus even though he named his team, it seemed
like a fortnight ago to be pulling out the changes.
This is very much the way he rolls out of
all of those changes. With any big surprises or anything,
we should be alarmed, aback from an all black point
of view, When you looked at that team, what did
you What did you ascertain from it?
Speaker 4 (04:53):
Not so much surprises, Like you know, there's some experience
there in ten, twelve and thirteen that he's left off,
potentially switching a nine with a little bit more experienced
to help god a younger back line, but there's definitely
some firepower in the backs and potentially with a mindset
of moving the ball or even bit more.
Speaker 2 (05:14):
Do you think it's a fair thing to say that
he's had a fantastic year so far. He's kind of
taking the role of a Dare I say it, Brody
Rutellic the way he's getting up and in the face
and giving the opposition a bit of lip. Because from
a spectator's point of view, it's absolutely fantastic to bring
that fire. I suppose he behaves like a hooker sometimes
(05:36):
as well with the way he brings it.
Speaker 4 (05:38):
I think, you know, toops, he's a competitor. He's always
played the game that way. I don't think it's off
the boards. You know, he's celebrating moments that he's planned
for and that he's worked for more often.
Speaker 3 (05:50):
So it's like anything.
Speaker 4 (05:51):
When you know when a job where a plan comes off,
most of us would celebrate and clap our hands.
Speaker 2 (05:56):
I think, yeah, he's a bit bit Dane Cole's like that,
but I love to see that, and I would say
that that would ricochet around the team and everybody else
would buy into that, that joy of playing and of success.
Speaker 4 (06:08):
Yeah, I think Colsey would be a bit harder than that.
I've been on the receiving end. Then on the same team,
I think Cozy will be hard than Tubes.
Speaker 2 (06:16):
And with the loose forward situation to combined with the locks,
that's seeming settled, but not if you know what I
mean with the changing to a degree, but all part
of a grand plan for to cover injuries when you
when you do have them, you've got possibility of huge
movement between four, five, six, seven and eight.
Speaker 4 (06:34):
Yeah, that's right, And you know that's the balance currently
and I think the real challenges the constant growth each week,
guys that are coming off the bench, the guys that
are starting making sure they're really clear on growing their
parts of their game, and consistency of doing that across
you know, the two series the RC.
