Hiking in Hocking Hills 09/11/25

Dave talks about going hiking with his wife Tracy on their anniversary getaway.

Speaker 1 (00:02):
Key one hundred with Dave and Jin told you for
our twenty fifth wedding anniversary that I booked us a
cabin in Hawking Hills. Yes, when I booked it, my
thinking is we'll chill at the cabin for a few days,
you know, just get away, just the two of us. Yeah,

(00:23):
and pretty much stay there the whole time. Yeah, Tracy's mind,
We're going to venture out into Hawking Hills and check
the place out, maybe do a little hiking.

Speaker 2 (00:33):
Love this, I mean yeah, we did this back in
April for Heath's birthday at Hawking Hills, and we did
We took the dogs and we took a you know,
a hike to the waterfalls, which was really cool, and
we just kind of we explored the little town but
really only for food and we did a little shopping.

Speaker 1 (00:50):
Okay, so we were about twenty miles out okay from
like the falls and the hiking trails and everything.

Speaker 2 (00:57):
I think we were too like thirty minutes.

Speaker 1 (00:58):
Yeah, okay, so Tracy wants to, you know, check some
of this out. One was ash Cave, which was pretty cool.
It was actually less than a half a mile walk
and you get to see it and it was pretty
cool and walk through it and all this, and I
was like, okay, yeah, this is pretty cool. But then
she doesn't want to stop there. I'm like, okay, you
want to get back to the cabin now, and she's

(01:20):
like no, no, no, we got a couple other things I
want to check out. I want to check out some
water falls, okay. And there was one called Cedar Falls,
and there was Old Man's Cave right there close as well.
So we start hiking towards Cedar Falls. It's about a
mile and a half hike, you know, not a huge deal.
But we get there and it's all dried.

Speaker 2 (01:41):
Up in a minute. Fine.

Speaker 1 (01:45):
I was like, well that was anti climactic. Let's head
back to the cabin, shall we. Tracey's like, no, no,
we got to keep going. So then we talked to
a couple and ask about the Old Man's Cave and
they're like, yeah, it's about another mile and a half here,
and then it's gonna be three mile walk back back
the vehicle. But the lady was like, but it's pretty cool.

(02:07):
It's like I was, but it's probably not that right
if we're talking about I mean, it's probably not. If
you've never been, you should probably ladies we're talking.

Speaker 2 (02:22):
My wife was hanging off every word you're I know,
I know we did make the.

Speaker 1 (02:27):
Mic oh my, and I mean, in my opinion, not
really worth it. A lot of rocks, a lot of dirt,
a lot of you know, your forest, I mean wooded area.

Speaker 2 (02:39):
There's beauty, natural beauty, and you're breathing in the fresh,
clean air because you're out of the city.

Speaker 1 (02:46):
Literally, do that at my parents' house. Just walk out
their backyard into the woods. There you go, beauty, got it, gravels, dirt, trees,
you can see it all. You're laryos. We end up
walking over seven miles that day. I don't know about

(03:06):
nice A lot.

Speaker 2 (03:08):
That's fantastic. Did you get like a pizza on the
way back home, you know.

Speaker 1 (03:12):
Been a great idea? No, actually, on the way back
because she was pretty disappointed that the waterfalls at all door,
I was like, see HIDINGDLC said it best when they
said don't go chase.

Speaker 2 (03:28):
Him, okay, And did she leave you at that point
when you started singing that.

Speaker 1 (03:32):
Okay, trying to trip me?

Speaker 2 (03:38):
Oh my goodness? All right?

Speaker 1 (03:40):
