It was.

Speaker 2 (02:00):
We went to London once and we visited, you know,
the round and the whole village area which they've tried
to preserve exactly how it was.

Speaker 1 (02:09):
But yeah, he was. He was the man, the man,
the golden tongue, he was the ish, the ish, he

Speaker 4 (03:58):
I know and dark he brought some in yesterday. I
should have done the heck yesterday when dark broad. But
here's your excuse to just go ahead and eat the donut.
Everyone loves to do that thing like.

Speaker 3 (04:08):
I can't, possibly I can't.

Speaker 4 (04:10):
You should though. This comes from a doctor. He wrote
a book called Keep your Brain Alive. And if you
have a morning meeting, maybe a presentation, you got to
run through a deck, a big call or whatever, eat
a donut before you go into said meeting. New research
found that fatty treats actually improves our memory. So reachers,
researchers had three groups of people, uh huh. They made

(04:30):
them fast overnight okay, and then gave them a breakfast
high in fat, high in carbs, or high in protein.

Speaker 3 (04:36):
The fat people not the fat people.

Speaker 4 (04:38):
Yeah, fatty snack people scored higher on every test by
a mile.

Speaker 3 (04:44):
Wow.

Speaker 1 (04:45):
That's great. So it does feed your brain.

Speaker 3 (04:47):
It does.

Speaker 4 (04:47):
And the reason why the brain treats fat as fuel
so it can access that fuel instantly.

Speaker 1 (04:52):
See, so get it.

Speaker 2 (04:54):
If you're on your way in right now, get it, donut,
Bring donuts to the office. Yes, everyone's gonna have a
great day.

Speaker 8 (06:36):
It's the Ellen K Morning Show.

Speaker 6 (06:39):
Means so good this morning, Thank you past.

Speaker 8 (06:42):
One o three point five.

Speaker 3 (06:43):
Light to Ellen for advice, because she's seen a thing
or two.

Speaker 6 (06:46):
She is Ellen.

Speaker 1 (06:49):
All right.

Speaker 2 (06:50):
We got this one from Chris. Chris is married to Cassie,
and he wrote a letter to Ellen.

Speaker 1 (06:55):
By the way, I'm Ellen K.

Speaker 3 (06:56):
I'm Ryan Manna, I'm Social Queen Darley, and I'm producer
Mike Ramos.

Speaker 2 (06:59):
So let's get Chris some and I'd like to know
your opinions. I read this to my husband last night.
He had his take on it. But it goes like this,
Dear Ellen, I work in the aerospace industry. Next week,
I'm heading to Houston for a business trip. I don't
go on these trips very often. On the surface, it's
just meetings and client dinners. But I found out the
guys are planning a night out at a gentleman's club,

(07:20):
a quote tradition when this particular group travels. So they travel,
they go to the gentleman's club.

Speaker 1 (07:28):
He says.

Speaker 2 (07:29):
I'm torn, not because I want to go it makes
me uncomfortable, but because I know what not going looks
like to this group. I've seen how they talk about
the guys who bow out. It becomes us weird, you're
not one of us.

Speaker 4 (07:39):
Thing.

Speaker 2 (07:40):
But what really has me tied in knots is my wife, Cassie.
I haven't told her. Part of me thought maybe I
could just leave that part out, say we grab drinks,
call aday night, move on, But then I picture her
face if she finds out I went to a gentleman's club.
I've never wanted to be the guy who hides things
from his wife, but I also don't want to be
the guy who tanks his standing at work over something
that should be a big deal, even though kind of is.

(08:02):
Thanks for flashing the bat signal on this. I love
the show, Chris, Chris. Just tell her, maybe, just tell her,
tell her they this is what they do, and tell
her the consequences if you don't.

Speaker 4 (08:17):
Okay, what do you think Ryan, I mean, he doesn't
want to go to begin with. I think he should
just stop worrying about how it's gonna look to these
other adult men and just do whatever he said. It
makes him uncomfortable, don't go. If it makes you uncomfortable,
it's gonna make your wife uncomfortable. You're putting yourself in
a bad spot.

Speaker 1 (08:33):
Okay.

Speaker 10 (08:36):
I feel like my husband would tell me and I
would just kind of be like, well, it's on you. Yeah,
same thing with me if I if you guys wanted
to go to a strip club after work for whatever reason,
and I'm gonna let him know, like we're gonna do
with team outing.

Speaker 4 (08:52):
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (08:52):
I'll probably go for an hour. No big deal, Yeah,
no big deal.

Speaker 2 (08:56):
Well, here's the thing, Like women don't have gentlemen's clubs
to go or or female clubs to go to.

Speaker 1 (09:03):
There's someone drilling above us. If you can hear that
over our microphones.

Speaker 3 (09:06):
But perfect time. Yeah, thank you for that.

Speaker 1 (09:09):
Yeah, it's a drilling. Okay.

Speaker 2 (09:11):
We don't have those kinds of clubs to go to
where it's it's men on polls, but men do so,
so that's the thing. I don't know what it's like
to be a guy, you know, to go to one
of those. I've never been to one. My husband has.

Speaker 1 (09:27):
I have not. But I don't know what Chris should do.
I think be honest.

Speaker 4 (09:32):
Okay, let's assume he goes. Does he tell her before
or after?

Speaker 3 (09:38):
Before?

Speaker 5 (09:38):
Right?

Speaker 1 (09:39):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (09:40):
Well no, I mean just saying if you tell her, okay, yeah,
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (09:44):
I would wait. I would wait and just say, hey,
we ended up at the club.

Speaker 3 (09:47):
You know what.

Speaker 1 (09:48):
That's not a bad policy.

Speaker 2 (09:49):
And even though you know going and you're gonna go,
tell her after even that night, call her and say,
oh my god, the guys all went to this gentleman's
club and you know I had to go, but it
was I'm home now, you.

Speaker 1 (10:00):
Know that kind of right, you could do that. Go
for the Chicken Wings.

Shakespeare Day was on this day that Shakespeare was born
and died four hundred nine years ago. He died on
his fifty second birthday, so he was born the same
day he passed. But he came up with so many
modern phrases. And I'm shocked when I went through all
of these. The be all in the end, all what's
done is done own flesh and blood. All of these

(10:51):
are from Shakespeare.

Speaker 4 (10:52):
Too much of a good thing, also Shakespeare. I haven't
slept a wink. Shakespeare so good.

Speaker 1 (10:57):
The world is my oyster.

Speaker 2 (10:59):
The clothes make the man a tower of strength in
my heart of hearts is so good. He was a wordsmith.
And I always love my Shakespeare class in seventh grade.
Mister Kopkey taught us, and we all loved that class
because he would wheel in the TV and we just
watch the movies every day was another movie of Shakespeare

(11:21):
or about Shakespeare, and then for the last five minutes
of class he'd flip the lights on. He'd go, Okay,
this is going to be called our discussion. So we
discussed this classes over and then we would go our
merry way love it.

Speaker 1 (11:35):
It was so fun. But I really did enjoy learning.

Speaker 2 (11:39):
About Shakespeare that way, just because we had to watch
it in the in these great movies. He invented the
word swagger from Midsummer Night's Dream.

Speaker 3 (11:48):
So cool.

Speaker 4 (11:49):
And by the way, side note, kids today we'll never
know the joy of when they wheel in the TV.
So it's just the best big old things strapped in
a brown cart.

Speaker 2 (13:52):
It wasn't super expensive, but it went by UPS. It
got stuck in Louisville and went to Fish and Wildlife customs.
What yeah, fish and game, fish and wild something like
that because of some material that was in the jacket.

Speaker 1 (14:10):
Have you ever heard of that?

clear it through customs. Well, anyway, I just I wondered
if they were messing with me or if it was

Speaker 6 (14:24):
Really they probably weren't.

Speaker 11 (14:26):
They probably weren't because they don't. They don't mess around
with packages.

Speaker 11 (16:13):

Speaker 2 (16:14):
For some reason, we lie about how much we eat
when it comes to sweets. I guess we're ashamed or something.
I mean, Ryan, your happiness hack this morning was great.
Eat a donut before a meeting and your performance is
through the roof.

Speaker 4 (16:28):
Yep, it's better for your brain. That fat is easily
and instantly accessed by your brain, So eat it.

Speaker 3 (16:33):
No shame in that game, don't lie.

Stories Hop the Hour, Good morning, Melon, Kay.

Speaker 2 (17:11):
Here with you on your Wednesday April twenty third, and
the FDA, the Food and Drug Administration, is phasing out
the use of artificial dyes used in Cheetos, Skittles, and
many snacks by the end up next year. The policy
change will hit food and drink companies like PepsiCo, General Mills, Kellogg.
Food and beverage companies use additives like red dye forty
to give cereal, chips, sports drinks, and other products. They're

(17:33):
bright hues that are tract shoppers. But backlash against artificial
colorants have been brewing in the US for more than
a decade, so the FDA announcing that At press conference yesterday,
Commissioner Marty Mackeri said that there's been scientific research into
the harmful effects of petroleum based food dies on kids.

Speaker 3 (17:52):
For the last fifty years, American children have increasingly been
living in a toxic soup of synthetic chemicals.

Speaker 1 (17:59):
YI, and what about this?

Speaker 2 (18:01):
Nearly half of all US teens say social media has
a mostly negative effect on people their age. Almost the
same proportions say they're cutting back on social media use,
according to a Pew Research Center report. I asked American
teens and parents about their attitudes around social media and smartphones.
Half of all teens said yeah, makes us feel bad
about ourselves.

Speaker 1 (18:19):
Yikes.

Speaker 2 (18:20):
And the Lazoo just announced they're relocating there our cities
two remaining Asian elephants, Billy and Tina. They're going to
a newly built elephant preserve in Tulsa, Oklahoma. According to officials,
this was a bittersweet decision, but when made only with
their best interests in mind. At their new home, Billy
and Tina will receive the most advanced elephant care and
integrate with a larger herd on twenty acres, which is

(18:43):
so amazing for them. Following their departure, the Lazoo will
posit its elephant program for the foreseeable future. We don't
know when they're leaving, but it won't be long. Safe
travels you too, and cloud cover to start sun later.
Still a little cooler today. Highs around seventy, Pico Rivera

a business trip. Dear Ellen, I work in the aerospace
industry and next week I'm heading to Houston for a
business trip. On the surface, it's just meetings and playing dinners.
But I found out the guys are planning a night
out at a gentleman's club. It's a tradition with this
particular group when they travel. Do I tell my wife

(20:02):
Cassie before I go. I'm not comfortable going. Don't want
her to find out later. So that's basically what he said.
He's never wanted to be the guy who hides things
from his wife. Is it a big enough deal to
tell her before you go. Is it not a big deal?
By telling her? Do you make it a big deal?
So thanks for flashing the bat signal on this one.

(20:23):
Love the show, Chris. All right, Chris, Who've had an
outpouring of love and support for you and your wife
and your marriage.

Speaker 1 (20:31):
It's good to Octavio. All right, So two choices, tell
his wife before or faithfully from his coworkers.

Speaker 6 (20:42):
Yeah, but then you're going to be in trouble with
your wife if you don't tell her, and if she
finds out too. So I think the best bet will
be probably just telling her and just going with going
with his gut, you know.

Speaker 2 (20:56):
Yeah, so tell her, go along with the guys, behave yourself,
come home and tell her everything except for what you
don't want her to know.

Speaker 6 (21:07):
Oh no, I thought before, like like asking for permission,
I guess.

Speaker 1 (21:12):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, ask for permission, yeah.

Speaker 6 (21:15):
I guess yeah. After for permission, If she says no,
well I'll so you don't go. But if she does, well, yeah,
you go and tell her how good of a time
you had or not? And can I give her specific details?

Speaker 2 (21:30):
Well, you know, I read this letter to my husband
last night and he said, well, you know, they have
great stakes at those gentlemen's clubs.

Speaker 3 (21:38):
Oh boy, and.

Speaker 1 (21:38):
I said, that's what every man said.

Speaker 8 (21:43):
Oh the food is really good.

Speaker 1 (21:46):
I really loved the garlic mashed.

Speaker 6 (21:49):
I don't know if they were talking about the stage.

Speaker 1 (21:58):
Thanks.

Speaker 6 (21:59):
I'm telling you, you guys, have a good morning.

Speaker 1 (22:02):
All right, you too, That's right?

Speaker 2 (22:04):
Okay, So what do you do if you are Chris
most of you are saying so far, just let her know.

Speaker 1 (22:10):
Just don't make it a big deal, be honest.

Speaker 2 (22:12):
Look, I think with every relationship situation, flip the tables,
just turn the tables.

Speaker 1 (22:19):
How would you feel?

Speaker 2 (22:20):
So if she was in the same position, would you
want her to hold it from you while she's out
of some mail review, you know, doing whatever happens at
mail reviews.

Speaker 1 (22:29):
I've never been to one.

Speaker 8 (22:30):
This is what I would do.

Speaker 10 (22:31):
I would want his counsel or her counsel, Like, babe,
everyone at work wants to go here.

Speaker 8 (22:39):
I'm really not feeling it. It makes you more likable.

Speaker 1 (22:41):
Yes, that's so true. And then it's like just be you. Yeah.

Speaker 10 (22:46):
Yeah, it sounds like he wants to go and he's
just using it as an excuse.

Speaker 2 (22:50):
Darlene ding Ding ding Ding, I do think so and
plus all the other guys are going, you're on a
business trip.

Speaker 1 (22:57):
You don't travel that often.

Speaker 4 (22:58):
I'm not trying to be like a little snitch or
a Debbie Downer here or whatever. But isn't that, in
and of itself kind of like an HR violation that
this is a tradition that we do at worming.

Speaker 3 (23:08):
It's outside of work.

Speaker 1 (23:08):
I think you know in that case, you can't.

Speaker 3 (23:11):
You can't assign it to a work function. That's not
a thing that people do.

Speaker 1 (23:15):
Yeah, but this is with his work buddies. Okay, all right?

I used to go to a lot of strip clubs

been to women's strip clubs and men. There's a lot
in Vegas. I don't think it's still there, but it
used to be called Olympic Gardens.

Speaker 1 (25:52):
Yeah, that was a big famous one.

Speaker 11 (25:54):
That was a face. I used to love to go there.
Upstairs was for men, downstairs was from women. I think
you should just tell it. I mean, there's nothing wrong
with going. I mean, I mean they do have food,
they have drinks, and most of them are like topless
here in La. But I don't know which one he's
going to, you know, but I.

Thanks Past one o three point five.

Speaker 1 (30:05):
It is Shakespeare's birthday.

and mister Kopka would roll in the.

Speaker 1 (30:12):
TV on the cart best feeling.

Speaker 6 (30:14):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (30:14):
We just watched movies that whole class all year and
I loved it.

Speaker 1 (30:19):
And he was so funny and fun, and he would say, Okay.

Speaker 2 (30:22):
The last like five minutes of the class, he'd be
like class discussion.

Speaker 1 (30:26):
Did everyone like it? We'd be like, yeah, he goes, okay,
great job.

Speaker 3 (30:29):
See you Mark.

Speaker 2 (30:32):
But Shakespeare was born and died on the same day,
and that would be this day. He was only fifty
two years old when he passed. But wow, his vocabulary
is off the charts. He invented so many phrases and
words that we still use today, and songwriters use him
in songs as well. But you know that he came
up with radiance, No, the word radiance, the word radiance.

(30:53):
In The Two Gentlemen of Verona. Shakespeare used the word
radiance to destribe something that's shiny or glowing.

Speaker 3 (31:00):
That's pretty cool.

Speaker 4 (31:01):
Phrases too, like we've seen better days, or too much
of a good thing, or there's no rhyme or reason.

Speaker 3 (31:06):
Those are all Shakespeare.

Speaker 2 (31:08):
From hamlet Own, Flesh and Blood. What's done is done
is from Macbeth.

Speaker 3 (31:12):
I haven't slept a wink.

Speaker 4 (31:14):
The clothes make the man, They're crazy in my heart
of hearts, all coming from Bill Shakespeare.

Speaker 2 (31:21):
Bill, he just came up with in a pickle and swagger, Yeah, yeah, yeah, Oh,
good riddance. Greedy has a song good Riddance, frequently used
to suggest relief at the departure of someone or something unpleasant.
Do you know Another one that he came up with
is cruel to be Kind? And that became a song

(31:41):
as well. Nick Lowe, This one.

Speaker 3 (32:05):
That's pretty cool.

Speaker 1 (32:07):
What's done is done?

Speaker 3 (32:08):
You know what else? Shakespeare?

Speaker 7 (32:10):

Speaker 2 (34:20):
From Henry the Fourth, he hath eaten me out of
house and home.

Speaker 1 (34:25):
Shakespeare invented that word, that phrase.

Speaker 2 (34:27):
I mean, there's all these words bedazzled and addiction.

Speaker 1 (34:32):
He came up with addiction. Eyeball, eyeball too. The world
is my oyster. They go on and on.

Speaker 3 (34:38):
Did he say it slappeth?

Speaker 1 (34:42):
He didn't say that, but it's slap this day. Slappeth.

Speaker 2 (34:45):
He did say, we know what we are, but we
know not what we may be. And that's your quote
of the day.

Speaker 1 (34:50):
Kiss some three, kiss on me one two three.

Speaker 3 (35:01):
Seems like just yesterday.

Speaker 1 (35:04):
You're part of me.
