It's not the kiwi itself. Did you know that? Ellen,
you're shaking your head.

I know.
Speaker 1 (10:03):
Wow, they never told us that they didn't.
Speaker 10 (10:05):
It's the same thing. Okay, you think about it. And

like corn on the cup?
Speaker 1 (10:10):
I love it?
Speaker 3 (10:11):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (10:11):
In Indiana, I mean same. I used to detassel the corn.
Speaker 10 (10:14):
I know some of the old saying thigh high by July. Yes,
so when you eat, when you grease a corn cup,
sometimes it can be hard. You got the little things
on the side that you poke in and you roll
it in the butter and stuff. Take a piece of bread,
butter the bread and use the bread.

the coffee pot was empty. So at Cambridge all the
students got together. They're like, we can solve this problem.
So there's always coffee, let's put a camera on it,

Speaker 4 (11:13):
Good morning, I'm ellen K and we continue to follow
the story of multi platinum R and B singer David
and his possible connection to the body of Lake Elson.
Ortine found in the trunk of his Tesla. The car
had been ticketed eleven days before Celeste Reeves was found inside.
It had been parked on Bluebird Avenue in the Hollywood
Hills for so long that residents started calling about it
way back in August. Police finally showed up and slapped
(11:35):
it with a ticket. Eventually, it was towed to a
lot in Hollywood, which is where employees found her body.
Several David's friends have since spoken out, claiming he told
him Celeste was his nineteen year old girlfriend and a
student at USC.
Speaker 1 (11:47):
She was neither.
Speaker 4 (11:48):
Thus far, no official statement or even comment from David.

Speaker 4 (12:30):
The Learning Sustainable well Being program, created by a psychologist,
focuses on emotional resilience, mindfulness, compassion, and healthy communication. The
idea is to treat mental well being as an essential,
just like matha writing, and Happy National Coffee Day, a
day to celebrate that magical elixir that is coffee. Study
found coffee drinkers do live longer, but only if you
(12:51):
stop drinking it by noon. And would you give up
coffee or mac and cheese? In a recent poll, half
of us said that we would be willing to give
up coffee before giving up beloved mac and cheese. But
if you want some really cool coffee, it is at Pete's.
It is called the La Brew. Okay, So there's all

To Ellen for advice because she's seen a thing or two?
Speaker 11 (14:00):
Is Ellen?
Speaker 8 (14:02):
All right?
Speaker 1 (14:03):
We got one from October and she says, call me Toby.
I love that name.
Speaker 9 (14:06):
Hugh.
Speaker 4 (14:07):
October is Wednesday. October wrote us a letter. She says,
call me Toby. One of those names. Toby could be
a guy or a girl. All right, Toby, here's your letter.
Thanks for writing. You can write to us too at
Coast one of three five. Dot com Tap that envelope,
I says, dear Ellen, my husband and I have two
sweet twin toddler daughters, and I pour my heart into
(14:28):
raising them.
Speaker 1 (14:29):
They are the light of our lives.
Speaker 4 (14:30):
But my sister in law constantly critiques me, whether it's
the way I parent, the food I make, or even
the things I buy from my home. She always has
a comment, a suggestion, or a correction. She and my
husband are super close. They grew up together, the only
two in the family. If I serve mac and cheese,
she points out how unhealthy it is. If I buy
(14:52):
new curtains, she says the fabric won't last. She never
misses a chance to tell me how she thinks I
should discipline our girls.
Speaker 1 (14:59):
Here's some history.
Speaker 4 (15:00):
She's always been really close with my husband, her brother,
and she never wanted him to marry me. She was
rooting for him to marry her wealthy best friend Ali.
That relationship bended badly because my husband didn't love Ali,
he only loved me, and my sister in law has
never gotten over it. So now I'm left wondering if
all her constant advice is really just her way of
undermining me. I went peace in the family, and I
(15:21):
don't want to feel judged every time I cook dinner
or buy something for my kids. How do I set
boundaries with someone like this without causing a full blown
family feud? It is wearing me out, Thanks, Toby, Well,
that sounds unpleasant. Very here's your husband and his bestie's sister.
Speaker 1 (15:39):
And then you're there married.
Speaker 7 (15:43):
Doing everything you can for your kids and she's squawking.
Speaker 1 (15:45):
Yeah, what is that?
Speaker 4 (15:47):
I do have a friend that is always like, you
can never be right. Yeah, she's always like, why would
you go to that doctor? You should go to this doctor?
And it is exhausting.
Speaker 10 (15:57):
It is I think it's a reflection of their own
unhappiness mmmmm. And I think the longer you allow this
to go on, the more she's just gonna keep digging
her nails in.
Speaker 1 (16:06):
Yeah, what's Hovey doing?
Speaker 7 (16:08):
Nothing?
Speaker 9 (16:10):
Really?
Speaker 1 (16:11):
Like, what is Hovey doing? Does it? Maybe? You know what?
Speaker 4 (16:16):
Do men not hear the same things women hear? I'm wondering,
like Toby sounds like, yes, she's hyper sensitized to this.
Speaker 1 (16:26):
Could she be blowing it out of proportion? Does she
hear ooh, mac and cheese? Really?
Speaker 7 (16:33):
Or you know what I mean?
Speaker 1 (16:35):
Do you know?
Speaker 4 (16:35):
Is it more pronounced for Toby's ears than anyone else?
Because Toby knows that the sister wanted her brother to
marry someone else.
Speaker 10 (16:42):
Put yourself in Toby's shoes? Ellen, could you tune it out?
Could you just tune it out?
Speaker 1 (16:48):
No? No, okay, I don't think I could. And we
don't know how often she's having to deal.
Speaker 4 (16:53):
With this, Yeah, right, Like what if they're neighbors? With this?
Maybe she even babysits the kids.
Speaker 1 (17:02):
We don't know.
Speaker 10 (17:03):
There's that quote I love, I love so much, and
it applies we encourage what we tolerate. Toby, you're by
tolerating this, you are encouraging it.
Speaker 4 (17:12):
If I serve Mac and Chee, she points out how
unhealthy it is. If I buy a new curtains, she says,
the fabric won't last. And she never missed a chance
to tell me how she thinks I should discipline our girls.
Speaker 1 (17:24):
Wow, I don't know. What do you think?
Speaker 4 (17:27):
Meddlers eight hundred ninety two nine kost What did Toby do?

Okay, And you're not gonna tell him about your secret
lunch date.
Speaker 2 (21:19):
I mean, I don't want to hurt his feelings. You know, Yeah,
you want to.
Speaker 1 (21:24):
All right, I mean, you know, a secret lunch date
is a great guess it's not the right answer.
Speaker 4 (21:31):
Not no worries.
Speaker 2 (21:32):
I'm happy to always talk to you guys, and I'm
gonna go and enjoy my lunch date with Have a
good one, you too, Hi, Elliott.
Speaker 1 (21:42):
Elliot's on his way to school, eleven years old. Look
great are you? And Elliott?
Speaker 9 (21:46):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (21:46):
Sixth sixth grade?
Speaker 4 (21:48):
Oh you know, sixth grade seems like yesterday to me
when my son was in sixth grade, and now he's
he's already twenty three. He just graduated from college.
Speaker 1 (21:58):
Day it goes by fast, Deliott, enjoy every moment. Okay, okay,
so on your way to school. And what do you
think it is?
Speaker 4 (22:05):
Twenty five percent of married people admit they've done what
with a coworker talk.
Speaker 9 (22:10):
About their marital problems.
Speaker 1 (22:12):
Wow, that's a very mature answer. And guess what, Elliott,
you are right, they talk about their marital problems, okay,
sharing secrets about their spouse. Yikes. One in four that's
pretty high.
Speaker 2 (22:31):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (22:32):
Oh wow, well you just went rod short weekend in Vegas.
It's a two nights stay tue tickets to the show
before you.
Speaker 1 (22:38):
Can buy them in a gas cart for the road. Congrats, Yi,
thank you, thank you. Thanks for playing the Q and A.
Speaker 4 (22:44):
Twenty five percent of married people share secrets about their spouse.
Speaker 1 (22:51):
They share those marital secrets.
Speaker 7 (22:53):
Is that, in your opinion, a problem?
Speaker 1 (22:56):
Yeah, it is. I think so. I think that.
Speaker 4 (22:59):
I think the if you're sharing, it's like behind the
back and it's just someone you work with.
Speaker 1 (23:04):
I don't know, just see if.
Speaker 10 (23:05):
It doesn't it just happen kind of naturally. Don't you
talk about things at home with your people?
Speaker 4 (23:10):
Yeah, I guess so, But I mean you can talk
about other things, you know. I don't know about that
shared secrets. It's Brod, Stuart and Vegas.
Speaker 1 (23:21):
We got that for you. You're Ellen k Q and A.
Thanks for playing the game.
Speaker 4 (23:28):
And your top story is coming up next on Coast
one oh three point five.
Speaker 1 (23:32):
We're gonna give you that.
Speaker 4 (23:33):
Plus just around the corner, we've got more cash on
Coast and a Lego Land four packs, so keep it
here to win and Morgard the Ellen k Morning Show,
thanks for having us on your Cash on Coast is
coming up. Plus we're going to go brick or treat
at Lego Land. But first your letters to Ellen right.
Speaker 12 (23:52):
To Ellen for advice because she's seen a thing or
two she is Ellen.
Speaker 4 (23:58):
One of the things I love about the letters is
that they're just also diverse and varied and all the
different things that are happening in your life.
Speaker 1 (24:06):
And you can write us a letter.
Speaker 4 (24:07):
Just go to Coastweo three five dot com and then
click on the envelope your letters in here. So October says,
call me Toby. She wrote us this letter. Dear Ellen,
my husband and I have two sweet twin toddler dad
laters that I pour my heart into raising them. But
my sister in law constantly critiques me, whether it's the
way I parent, the food I make, even the things
I buy from my home. She always has a comment,
(24:29):
a suggestion, or a correction. Anyway, this is constant like advice,
and she doesn't know what to do about it. So, Toby,
We've been getting lots of great calls to help you out.
Speaker 1 (24:38):
That's what it's all about.
Speaker 11 (24:42):
Ryan.
Speaker 1 (24:43):
You have clear path of action on this.
Speaker 7 (24:46):
You have to tune it out. That's all you can do.
Speaker 1 (24:48):
Tune it out.
Speaker 7 (24:48):
She's this is a reflection of her own unhappiness.
Speaker 1 (24:51):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (24:52):
Let's go to Lynette along with Harrison right before the
bell taking Harrison to school, and Lynnette what do.
Speaker 3 (24:58):
You think I agree with And you're giving her too
much credit to say thanks for your opinion, thanks for
your opinion, and just cut her off. They'll let her
get into you.
Speaker 4 (25:08):
Sometimes people say things to us because they know what
bothers us.
Speaker 3 (25:13):
Right.
Speaker 4 (25:13):
Yeah, those people who like to needle you know what
I mean, That like to just jab jab jab, and
then if you do react or even showed on your face,
you'll get more.
Speaker 1 (25:23):
Like you were saying, Ryan, what's the saying, we encourage
what we tolerate.
Speaker 3 (25:26):
Yes, yeah, exactly, exactly, Yep. She needs to just say
thank you for your suggestion and always say the same thing.
She'll eventually get bored.
Speaker 4 (25:35):
She'll get the message, oh okay, got to wear her down,
just like she's trying to wear you down.
Speaker 1 (25:40):
It's kind of a battle of the.
Speaker 9 (25:44):
Exactly.
Speaker 3 (25:45):
See that way she's that way. Her husband won't have
anything to tell her because she's going against you know,
his sister that way. Yeah, she takes she takes the
suggestion thank you, and the husband can't say anything about
it because she was gracious about it.
Speaker 8 (26:03):
She said thank you.
Speaker 1 (26:04):
It's a lot like my mama.
Speaker 4 (26:06):
Eileen needs to always say rise above exactly. My opinion, Bobe,
we appreciate and love your opinion. Lynnet, thank you for
that rise above. You gotta just try your best to
ignore it even though it's annoying you, because also it
feeds on itself, right, It's like you're building an inner fire.
So let's say the first time she says you feed
(26:28):
your kids peanut butter, or my kids have never.
Speaker 1 (26:32):
Had real milk, only almond milk, you know, whatever. It is.
Speaker 4 (26:35):
Like there was just one family on the Culd de
Sac of a friend of mine, and she brought McDonald's
for all the kids who were playing, and the mother said,
my kids have never eaten McDonald's, Like what are you doing?
So sometimes, like you hear that first comment could be
a tiny little match in your belly, and then then
you're listening for it, so each comment that comes, it
(26:57):
builds a bonfire in your belly and then you just
blow your gasket. Right, No, seriously, I know it sounds
like it's really adding up, you know, in Toby's life,
because now the kids are toddlers, and the husband obviously
hasn't said anything. He loves his sister, but Toby's just paying,
maybe paying too close of attention into what this one
(27:21):
thinks because she knows it bothers her. So yeah, I
think that Mama, Eileen and Heaven, You're right rise above.
It's hard to do sometimes, but in this case, most
every listener is saying that, okay, well, keep your calls coming.
We love your help for Toby. And also we have
more cash on coast. It is back coming up in
(27:42):
ten minutes. Another keyword, and we're gonna brick or treat

Speaker 4 (30:26):
Wednesday, and we got one today from Toby October. She
said that her sister in law is criticizing her and
making a lot of suggestions and I don't know, it's
all over her. It doesn't like anything she does because
Toby's sister law. I didn't want her brother to marry Toby.
Speaker 10 (30:47):
And now it's you feed your kids mac and cheese. Oh,
the fabric on those curtains are thinking.
Speaker 4 (30:53):
It's the whole thing. So what should Toby do? Patti,
thank you so much for your call. We're loving your calls.
Speaker 11 (30:59):
This.
Speaker 1 (31:00):
What do you think?
Speaker 9 (31:01):
Well, I think she should ignore her and just be
the person she isn't shining and do her best as
a human being because the in law has never change.
They're never going to change. You know, I have them
and they always stay the same. She's a mean girl
and she's unhappy. Yeah, and she's going to be unhappy
(31:23):
and be like that, So confronting it isn't going to
change it. She's always going to be that person. It
might make it even.
Speaker 4 (31:31):
Worse, so she sees to suck it up. Toby needs
to just like rise above, try to tune it out.
Speaker 1 (31:37):
Yes, yeah, Wow.
Speaker 9 (31:39):
Be the best you can be and don't let that
person affect.
Speaker 1 (31:44):
How you are. Okay.
Speaker 4 (31:45):
Toby's just having a hard time doing that, especially with
the toddler twins.
Speaker 1 (31:50):
I mean, that's taken a lot of her energy and time.
Speaker 7 (31:52):
Also, it's killing her softly.
