Speaker 1 (00:00):
The answer is yes, we can. I mean, look what
we've done as a city in the last year. We
can hold on. We can come together. It is the
one year anniversary of the California wildfires, Palisades eaten, bringing
really just all of us together. I'll never forget all
of us racing down to the Dream Center and just

(00:21):
handing out food and supplies and our very own Dave Weese,
he was there for three four days straight. He would
you know, he would. They would make him change his
clothes and he would just have to wear whatever he
could find in the parking lot.

Speaker 2 (00:37):
And he was evacuated, you know what I mean. So
it's like a double shot there.

Speaker 1 (00:43):
But we say we love you, Southern California. There's nothing
we can't do together, okay, and we are the only
came morning Joe mellen Mano. I'm Social Queen Darling and
I'm producing Mike Ramos, and I'm fully aware that May
seventeenth is show Hey Otani Day and wearing my show
Hey Otani cata I got in Tokyo. It's like a
little baby Otani and gold thread really cool Japan and

(01:05):
La and my husband and son bought me this. Yeah,
but today is MLB show hey day, right, right, so
he said, okay, if I still wear this.

Speaker 2 (01:14):
Of course it is, Yeah, totally, and it's one seven,
So today one seven has jersey number seventeen.

Speaker 3 (01:20):
That's why they're doing it today. So really, I mean,
here's the thing.

Speaker 2 (01:24):
There's never a bad time to celebrate Otani, but they're
doing it mainly as a commercial to get people to
get the other I love it.

Speaker 3 (01:30):
So it's like Waldewall Otani all day.

Speaker 1 (01:32):
Oh that's awesome. Yeah, And he's walldewall all over at
Tokyo and Japan. I mean he's in every ad, you know,
the one that they imitate him with the two fingers.

Speaker 3 (01:41):
Oh yeah, with the yeah yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:42):
That's like a huge shibuyah crossing. It's like their Times
Square and that's a huge electronic billboard and everybody cheers.

Speaker 4 (01:52):
Wow.

Speaker 1 (01:53):
He's Everywhere's on vending machines, he's he stares at you
from everything Bulova watches and all that stuff. And today's
also bobblehead Day. So go to Artificial ellen K on Instagram.
You'll see bobbleheads that I've collected through the years, and
I brought you a gift, right, I don't know, I
don't know if I'm regifting you with this or if

(02:13):
you already have this, but I want you to have
this bobblehead that I found tell Yeah, yeah, okay, so
oh Ellen, it's a Justin Turner. Yeah yeah, j Yeah,
there you go, Justin.

Speaker 3 (02:32):
This is great.

Speaker 5 (02:33):
Thank you.

Speaker 1 (02:33):
Yeah, you're welcome. Yeah. You know you guys are buddies
and drinking pals, so I thought I am drinking. I'd
bring you that because I have two of them, so
Calvin head one and I have one. So I am
giving you my keeping, Calvin, thank you very much, and
I have some more show in Tell. Okay, yeah, I

(02:54):
brought my boom boom. Now this is ash seen on
Shark Tank. But I did buy this in Tokyo at
this giant, this giant like five story floor and it's
called don Quixote. It's all over Asia, but they have
like everything, you know, floor to ceiling, and this is
called boom boom. And what you do is you stick
it up your nose just for a refresher. And uh,

(03:17):
I've seen this.

Speaker 3 (03:18):
On Shark Tak.

Speaker 1 (03:21):
Guys, some boom boom yeah snoo, you just breathe, just
put up your nose and breathe legal right, Well, I
don't know, Okay, find out.

Speaker 6 (03:35):
Scared?

Speaker 3 (03:38):
Okay, she's naked.

Speaker 2 (03:39):
My day's okay, it's the l K morning shell.

Speaker 6 (03:50):
Post one O three point five.

Speaker 7 (03:52):
All right.

Speaker 1 (03:52):
Sewing is not a woman's hobby anymore. It's not your grandma's,
it's not your you know, it's just not a female
thing any more. It's a male hobby that is growing more.
Men are picking up needles and threads. Ryan, do you
know how to thread a needle? I do? Yes, okay, good?
But beyond that, yeah, could you sew? Like could you

(04:12):
patch a hole? If you had a hole in your jeans?
Could you sew it?

Speaker 7 (04:16):
No?

Speaker 8 (04:16):
Okay?

Speaker 1 (04:17):
Producer Mike, Yes, you you can.

Speaker 7 (04:19):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (04:19):
I keep a sewing kid in the car. Oh you do?

Speaker 6 (04:22):
I know how to sew?

Speaker 3 (04:22):
And my wife doesn't think.

Speaker 1 (04:24):
Oh really okay, So then you're you're right on trend
because it's a big growing through. Chris Martin sews a lot,
and he has for many, many years. Johnny Knoxville, by
the way, Fear Factor. House of Fear is coming out
in about a week.

Speaker 2 (04:38):
I saw Johnny a week so Johnny and Vaughan's over
here on Passing Burbank.

Speaker 3 (04:41):
He's buying grapes. Oh really, just grapes. He literally walked
out with a bag of grapes.

Speaker 1 (04:46):
Okay, so you're Johnny knxviell. Do you do that on
purpose so that someone like you tells their friends that
you saw him with the bag of grape? I don't know,
or did he really need I think.

Speaker 3 (04:55):
You just want a grape?

Speaker 1 (04:56):
So maybe that's for the New Year. You know, you
have to eat twelve Yes, maybe that was it? All right? Well, anyway,
Johnny Knoxville is also a sewer, so this is a
growing hobby for men, and it's something that Chris Martin
and Johnny Knoxville have been doing for years. I think
that's pretty cool, all right. So the psychological thriller The
Housemaid co starring Sidney Sweeney and Amanda Seifred, will have

(05:17):
a sequel. My husband and I saw it. The film
grows worldwide more than one hundred and thirty million since
its release. It came out right before Christmas. The two
of them are extremely sexy in the movie, especially Sidney Sweeney.
So it's kind of a mixture of mystery, psychological thriller, suspense, murder,

(05:39):
and porn I'm just gonna tell you how it is.
And we want to shout out Jack Black. Jack Black
a listener to Coast. Also, you know he's worth a
billion dollars, you guys, Kung Fu Panda, all of the
projects he's done, but he drives a car that is
worth less than three thousand dollars. He grew up with

(06:02):
a single mother. He gives so many millions of dollars
to Children's Hospital Los Angeles and other children's charities. He
has given away about twenty five percent of his wealth.
He's given away two hundred and fifty million dollars to
children's hospitals. He wears twelve dollars Walmart T shirts. He
just said that he how can he live in luxury

(06:22):
when there are so many kids who who can't even
leave a hospital. He's just such a beautiful man, and
we just want to say, Jack Black, you are one
of a kind and we love you so much. All right.
What about David Muir? That's my man, crush. I love
that guy. I watch ABC World News Tonight with David
Muir every day. I wish he was on the weekends too.

Speaker 3 (06:44):
Yeah, what is it? Alan?

Speaker 6 (06:46):
What is it?

Speaker 5 (06:47):
Is? There?

Speaker 3 (06:47):
One thing you can point.

Speaker 1 (06:48):
To and go to me. Yes, he's comforting. He's comforting,
and he's I don't know, he just to me. He's
I can put my finger on it. He's authoritative, but
yet he's seems friendly and warm.

Speaker 3 (07:02):
Okay, got it.

Speaker 1 (07:03):
Yeah, and he's really excited about the new Girl Scout cookie.
Have you heard about these? David can't wait.

Speaker 9 (07:10):
It is Girl Scout Cookie season. The newest cookie just
revealed tonight. They're calling them Explore Moores. It's a Rocky
Road ice cream inspired sandwich cookie packed with chocolate marshmallow
and toasted almond flavored cream. The Girl Scouts say the
name Explore Moores is inspired by the spirit of exploration
at the heart of every Girl Scout.

Speaker 1 (07:29):
I mean, do you not love him too?

Speaker 6 (07:32):

Speaker 10 (07:45):

Speaker 1 (07:47):
You're so cool. What's your name?

Speaker 7 (07:49):
My name is Caesar from La.

Speaker 1 (07:51):
Hey, Caesar, what do you up to right now?

Speaker 8 (07:53):
On my way to work?

Speaker 11 (07:54):
I work from Metro?

Speaker 1 (07:56):
Okay, how's metro going?

Speaker 2 (07:58):
Metro's going great?

Speaker 10 (08:00):
She was always doing good.

Speaker 2 (08:01):
Everybody needs to ride.

Speaker 1 (08:02):
Yeah, everyone needs to ride. I wrote a lot of
trains over the break. In Japan, I rode the Bullet
train and it was really exciting. How fast two hundred
miles per hour.

Speaker 11 (08:13):
Yeah, they're in a whole different level out there.

Speaker 1 (08:15):
Well, would you like Metro to go Bullet absolutely, yeah, yeah,
that'd be cool. And Metro goes to Lax Now I
saw the big beautiful station.

Speaker 7 (08:25):
Oh yeah, it's beautiful. It's so convenient.

Speaker 1 (08:28):
Yeah. Yeah, Well you guys have got it going on. Yeah,
and Caesar, you got a four pack to see Elmo's
got the moves at Sesame Street Live.

Speaker 7 (08:36):
We're gonna love it so much.

Speaker 6 (08:37):
Thank you loving the ellen K Morning Show for.

Speaker 8 (08:41):
Your number one fand we love you, We love you.

Speaker 6 (08:43):
Make us a preset on your iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 1 (08:46):
We love you to thank you so much, Host.

Speaker 6 (08:48):
One oh three point five your happiness.

Speaker 1 (08:50):
Thank you.

Speaker 2 (08:52):
That song ties into the last time I saw you cry, Ellen,
I don't want to wait. You shared something really beautiful
yesterday and it's up on your Instagram artificial ellen K.
I know Darry you posted to social Queen Darlene about
not waiting.

Speaker 1 (09:02):
Yeah, don't wait.

Speaker 3 (09:03):
Don't wait. Later, the coffee gets cold. Later, people grow up, later,
time goes on. Don't wait.

Speaker 1 (09:08):
I know, I got a little emotional reading about it.

Speaker 2 (09:10):
I noticed, and I was wondering it stayed with me
through the day, and I was thinking it stayed with me, right,
I was like, I wonder what got Ellen to.

Speaker 3 (09:16):
Cry on that?

Speaker 1 (09:17):
Because it says, uh, I think about like my dad
passing away. I think about my son, you know, starting
a job and he's becoming a man. So it's just
I just think about like, don't wait, do do everything
you want to do, Just do it. That's good. And
it made me really emotional and I was reading it,
so I did. I did cry me a river did.

Speaker 2 (09:38):
And it's a good thing. Listen your hack today. You
know why they call it a good cry because crying
is good. It's a good cry. Oh okay, go ahead
and cry let it out. Tears, this is, according to
a study, are your body's way of releasing intense emotions.
They contain your actual tears, contain stress hormones which leave
your body through crying.

Speaker 1 (09:56):
Really, that's why you feel good after.

Speaker 2 (09:59):
That's why they say a good cry that it's honestly
your body getting rid of stress.

Speaker 1 (10:04):
Oh my gosh, that's that's really nuts.

Speaker 3 (10:08):
So let it out.

Speaker 1 (10:09):
Okay, Well I would like to read it again, just
real quick.

Speaker 3 (10:11):
Yeah, of course.

Speaker 1 (10:11):
And I don't know if I'll cry, Yeah, but I
did cry. Don't leave anything for later. Later, the coffee
gets cold. Later, you lose interest. Later, the day turns
into night. Later, people grow up, later, people grow old, later,
life goes by. Later, you regret not doing something when
you had the chance to. Yeah, and that could even
be just telling someone you love that. That's it. I
love it.

Speaker 12 (10:32):
The only time waiting is good is after the holidays
because right now you can get fifty percent off of
box calendars at Barnes and Okay, and that was my happiness.
Just wait one day after the holidays and you're.

Speaker 1 (10:43):
Gonna pay half. That's perfect.

Speaker 12 (10:45):
I went yesterday.

Speaker 1 (10:46):
Sae, take that frown and turn it upside down.

Speaker 6 (10:49):
LA wakes up with the L and K Morning. Shall
I love your station?

Speaker 1 (10:53):
I start my mornings?

Speaker 3 (10:55):

Speaker 6 (10:55):

one oh three point.

Speaker 1 (10:58):
Five and welcome to our listeners. We've been hearing from
new first timers here at the Ellen k Morning Show,
and we love having you along for the ride. Maybe
you're getting up on your way to work or school,
maybe you're already there, or you're on your way home.
Are you thinking about breakfast now? We always have to
do it on the run. Darlene brought bagels and cream

(11:21):
cheese because you did a Costco run yesterday.

Speaker 8 (11:24):
I did.

Speaker 1 (11:24):
Thank you, Darlene for thinking of us for breakfast. Sometimes
we order in. Sometimes we just share banana gummy bears.
Gummy Mike's always on the gummy bears, so he's in
sugar corner, is what I call it. There's all kinds
of candy over by you, Mike. Is that your favorite
breakfast Gummy Bears? Yeah, it's so many tricious. Well, if
you're an NFL player, you have a lot of choices.

(11:46):
Listen to what they get to eat every morning.

Speaker 5 (11:49):
We have a night game at eight twenty pm, so
we serve the players three meals. Here at breakfast, we
have scrambled eggs, scrambled egg whites, avocado on the side.
You'd like that, bacon sausage. These are English muffin breakfast sandwiches,
treaded hash browns, white rice pancakes, vecan pancakes.

Speaker 8 (12:10):
French toast.

Speaker 5 (12:11):
This is maple syrup for those items, and then crooks.
We also have four types of bread bagels, Peanut butter, jelly,
ALMD butter Milk's yogurts.

Speaker 1 (12:22):
That's before she got to the fruit bar.

Speaker 3 (12:25):
You don't even mind me.

Speaker 2 (12:26):
You know that scene in Forrest Gumper Bubba's talking about
the shrimp Yes.

Speaker 11 (12:30):
Ball Brawl bike it Salt Tate bas Trump, come up

You guys are always entertaining.

Speaker 7 (12:47):
Love the music, of course I put on one of three.

Speaker 6 (12:49):
Point five every weekday morning here on Coast one O
three point five.

Speaker 1 (12:53):
Top stories, top of the hour, A good morning, I'm
lan k. And Today January seventh, a day forever remembered
across so marking the one year anniversary of both the
Eton and Palisades Fires, the devastating, deadly blazes that marred
our magical home. Starting at eight am in the Palisads.
There is a white glove remembrance ceremony at American Legion
Post two eighty three. Also a a. The Altadina community

(13:15):
will gather at the collaboratory to hear from survivors and
local leaders. Okay, what about this? Have you been to
the Tesla Diner in Hollywood? The supercharging station futuristic eatery
open in July, and apparently it's not going so great.
A new report from auto blog says, quote, the hype
has clearly worn off. The crowds have disappeared. It's almost dystopian.

(13:36):
Even Elon Musk acknowledged the decline, saying it probably made
more sense to open one in Texas near a company headquarters.
Tough week for Tesla. They just lost their spot as
the world's leading ev maker. Chinese rival byd is now
leader of the pack. And this drink could land you
in the er. If you're a fan of pricey cocktails
that are more about the showy presentation than the actual drink,

(13:57):
you need to pay attention to this. If you order
one of those color full drinks that come out billowing smoke,
your night could end up in the er with an
exploded stomach. Doctors are sounding the alarm about drinks containing
liquid nitro, the super cold chemical the bartenders used to
create that smoky effect. They say that liquid nitrogen is
so cold it boils at room temperature. If it's swallowed

(14:18):
before it fully evaporates, it can cause severe internal damage
frostbite to your stomach and intestines, and in some cases
are ruptured stomach. So make sure if you get a
showy drink at all of that billowy nitro is worn off.
And the weirdest gadgets at CES, the Consumer Electronic Show
in Vegas. It just kicked off yesterday. Lollipops that played music.

(14:39):
The brand is called Lollipop Star. Each flavor plays a
different song using bone conduction technology. The music plays inside
your head and you can only hear it when you
bite down. They'll cost nine dollars each. Also, color changing fingernails,
a company called Eye Polish is behind those. They're press
on nails that change colors with special devices you have
to buy. They say you can choose from three hundred shades.

(15:00):
The starter kit's ninety five dollars. And I love this.
Talking AI picture frames a company called Vinabot came up
with digital picture frames that can talk and have conversations
with you. They were inspired by the talking paintings and
Harry Potter. It costs three hundred bucks. And we are
looking at a sunny, beautiful day. Here we are one
year later after the Eaton and Palisades fire. It's going

(15:20):
to be dry, mostly sunny. Hi's around sixty five in
the Palisades. You go to sixty five Altadina, you'll see
sixty four year high and right now it is fifty
in Burbank Kost, Los Angeles, Coast one O three point
five presented by Celsia's Energy Drinks. Coming up your letters

Speaker 1 (15:52):
And if you have anything on your mind, you want
to get it off your mind and you need help,
it's letters to Ellen. We love to read your letter.
Write to Ellen for advice because she's seen a thing
or two.

Speaker 4 (16:04):
She is Elan.

Speaker 1 (16:07):
So many of your letters at Coast one of three
five dot com. Tap that envelope and then you get
us a letter. So if you are new to our show.
Thanks for being here. You can write us a letter
like Francis did. Okay, dear Ellen, please read my letter
all right, Frances Here it goes. I'm a single mom
to my one and only, sweet twelve year old daughter, Angie.

(16:29):
I'm struggling lately because of Angie's best friend, Savannah. Her
family's pretty new at our school, and Ange and Vanna,
their nicknames for each other, hit it off instantly. Savannah
has really nice, super wealthy parents. They moved here from
Sacramento after selling their tire business chain for tons of money.
They take Angie to dinners at Nobu Malibu nearly every

(16:50):
Sunday night. They also just invited Angie to go skiing
for the MLK three day weekend in Park City, Utah. Suddenly,
Angie is asking about getting her ears pierced with diamond
studs because Savannah has them. She also wants matching sets
from Alo. This is the same girl who used to
love birthdays in the park and sleepovers with make your

(17:10):
Own Pizza and Sundays. She used to get excited about
TJ Max runs with me, just us treasure hunting together.
Now I'm left wondering when did my little girl trade
sundays for status. How do I stay connected to my
daughter when the life she's being invited into feels so
far beyond my pay scale? Thank you so much for
reading this. I really don't know what to do, Francis.

Speaker 10 (17:32):
How old is she again?

Speaker 1 (17:33):
Twelve?

Speaker 4 (17:34):
Alo?

Speaker 1 (17:35):
Twelve year old Angie?

Speaker 12 (17:36):
I'm almost forty, and I.

Speaker 1 (17:41):
Well, Angie wants matching sets from Alo, so I guess Savannah.
Savannah has those, and Savannah has ears pierced with diamond studs. So, Francis,
I feel bad because I know you're missing I know
you're missing your little girl. And this is her last
year before becoming a teen. And you say that Savannah,

(18:03):
her best friend, has nice but super wealthy parents.

Speaker 2 (18:08):
What do you hear as the to me, there's two
problems here that that she's dealing with, Francis, it's the
growing up part, yeah, the changing, yeah, which every kid does,
they go through phases, right, And then it's the other part,
where this set of parents is providing something she can't.
Which one do you hear as the bigger problem?

Speaker 1 (18:27):
I think i'd hear the growing up Yeah, I do too,
because I don't know that the material things would are
bothering her as much as the change. When I was twelve.
That's the first time I ever told my mom no.
She's she asked me to do something and I said no, no,
and she looked our eyes meant she looked at me
and it was just silenced and she said, you do

(18:49):
not say no. And I had to go wash my mouth.
That was sop.

Speaker 12 (18:54):
No, I was gonna I thought she was gonna slap you.

Speaker 3 (18:56):
Silly. Yeah, I know, I'm probably thrown.

Speaker 1 (19:02):
And I came back. We were going somewhere in the car.
I came back to the car. My mom was crying.
So I think it's one of those things where this
twelve to thirteen rough. Yeah, and look, Darlene, we've both
been there, and so it's it's that's you know, That's
what I hear from Francis the most.

Speaker 3 (19:21):
I just thought of this.

Speaker 2 (19:22):
Our friend Joe Coy was in and he said the
first time that his son said he didn't want a
personal pan pizza from Pizza Hut just wrecked him.

Speaker 3 (19:28):
Yes, it's like I used to take you to get chocolate,
milk and pizza. That's right, and you don't want to
do it.

Speaker 1 (19:33):
We need to find that.

Speaker 3 (19:34):
Clue you find it.

Speaker 14 (19:35):
Joe also said they come back, they come back, And
when he said that, that gave me so much hope
because I'm in the middle of the teens right now
and I remember that a lot right now these days.

Speaker 1 (19:46):
Yeah, Auntie doesn't know what to do. So if you are, Francis,
I mean about her daughter Anngie. So if you, if
you can relate, you can help. We need you. It's
eight hundred and nine two nine kost Listen to this line.
I'm wondering when did my little girl trade Sundays for status?

harder than their job. Okay, say one hundred ninety two

It's such a beautiful day. I just saw the blue sky,
not a cloud in the sky. Absolutely, what a difference
a year makes. We were talking about the fires a
year ago, and you know now we've had one of
our wettest seasons and we are rebuilding, coming together, lots
of commemorative celebrations today.

Speaker 8 (22:21):
Absolutely, it's wonderful sign that we're moving ahead, and we're
moving forward.

Speaker 1 (22:26):
Yeah, for sure. Well, what's your guest? Twenty five percent
of all adults say this is harder than their job.
What do you guys think?

Speaker 8 (22:33):

Speaker 8 (22:55):
Okay, thank you so much.

Speaker 1 (22:57):
Thanks, have a great day, guys, It's good to have it.
She's Jasmine. Hi, Jasmine, Hi, good morning morning, Jasmine. What's

Speaker 8 (23:07):
My guest, I would say, manage you money. I have
a lot of friends that have a hard time doing it.

Speaker 1 (23:12):
Managing money. That's a toppy. Twenty five percent of all
adults say that this is harder than their job would
be managing money. Great, guess most people are saying that
it's not the right answer. I'm so sorry.

Speaker 8 (23:23):
Okay, guys, thank you have a good way.

Speaker 1 (23:25):
Yeah you too. It's the city of Commerce and that

Speaker 9 (23:31):
Good morning, Alan, Kay, good morning everybody.

Speaker 1 (23:35):
Howdy. So it says here that you are an accountant.

Speaker 4 (23:39):
Yes, so that work is not that hard.

Speaker 1 (23:43):
There's a lot of writing and paperwork as well. Speak
for yourself. I'm really bad with numbers, Erin, So, I'm
so in awe of people who make it their life's
work to work with numbers. My dad was a math teacher.
My worst subject. Oh okay, anyway, Erin the accountant, Aaron,

(24:09):
what is your guests? Twenty five percent of all adults
say it's harder than their job. What is it? It
has to be a housework. You come home and then
there it is, the pile of laundry, got to sweep
the floor or whatever it is. You, Aaron, are right,
it's housework, keeping the house clean.

Speaker 3 (24:25):
Way to go erin.

Speaker 1 (24:27):
Oh thank you?

Speaker 2 (24:28):
Yes, what are you neglecting right now at home? What's
your biggest ice sore? Yeah?

Speaker 10 (24:34):
The bathroom and.

Speaker 1 (24:36):
Okay, okay, I can see that.

Speaker 7 (24:39):
You know.

Speaker 1 (24:39):
At CEES the Consumer Electronics Show, they have like a
room bob, think of a roomba vacuum cleaner, but it
can climb stairs. Oh wow, yeah, it's a new robot.

Speaker 3 (24:49):
Look that.

Speaker 1 (24:50):
Yeah, you need all the help you get.

Speaker 6 (24:55):
Okay, congrats, It's the L and K Morning Show. I

Speaker 7 (25:01):

Speaker 1 (25:04):
One oh three point five top stories top of the hour,
Good morning, m L and K. And Today on January seventh,
a day forever remember it across southern California, marking the
one year anniversary, as you know, of both the Eden
and Palisades fires, the devastating, deadly blazes that marred our home.
Starting at eight am and the Palisides a white glove
remembrance ceremony at American Legion Post to eighty three. Also

(25:28):
at eight the Altadina community will gather at the Collaboratory
to hear from survivors and local leaders and also a
benefit concert tonight five thirty at the Civic Auditorium in Pasadena.
Solid lineup, Alo Black, Jackson Brown, Brandon, Flowers from The Killers,
Brad Paisley, Mandy Moore, Ever Clear again. That's Pasadena five
point thirty at the Civic Auditorium. As we remember so

(25:53):
much tragedy, we'll never forget the sadness and strength of
this ninety one year old man starting over.

Speaker 7 (25:59):
I'm going to.

Speaker 10 (25:59):
Break down again. That's what I feel. It's my whole life.
I've met us ago away, sitting in the car by myself,
and I just the tears just came over my face.
Entire history is in the house. I'm okay, I'll be okay,
I'm tough, and we'll start over. Even though I'm ninety
one years old. I'll start over again.

Speaker 1 (26:20):
I'll start over again. And that is the mood. Hey
at cees the weirdest gadgets coming out of the Consumer
Electronics Show in Vegas. How about gaming headphones that read
your mind? They scan your brain waves to track focus,
reaction speed, and cognitive load. They are also Lego smart bricks.
They light up and make different sounds depending on what
you build. If they're part of a car. They make

(26:41):
an engine sound. It is astonishing and McDonald's is expected
to roll out a new Pokemon Happy Meal promotion early
this year, aligning with the global celebration of Pokemon's thirtieth anniversary.
The collab is anticipated to feature exclusive Pokemon trading card
games and Girl Scouts of You essay kicking off their
national cookie season by welcoming Explorer Moores. It's their brand

(27:05):
new cookie. You know what. Rather than me describing it,
my favorite newscaster, David Muir talked about it.

Speaker 9 (27:11):
It is Girl Scout cookie season. The newest cookie just
revealed tonight. They're calling them Explore Moores. It's a Rocky
Road ice cream inspired sandwich cookie packed with chocolate marshmallow
and toasted almond flavored cream. The Girl Scouts say the
name Explore Moores is inspired by the spirit of exploration
at the heart of every Girl Scout.

Speaker 1 (27:29):
I can tell David Muir wants them. And another really
nice day on deck dry mostly sunnya Hi's around sixty

warming trend. We will take it. Malibu sixty five per

Speaker 1 (28:04):
Thanks for coming together with us here on the Ellen
k Morning Show this Coast one of three point five,
and thanks for loving our music as much as we do.
We're getting so many calls about the music here on Coast,
so yay, it's all happiness. We also love your letters
to Ellen. Write to Ellen for advice, because she's seen

(28:25):
a thing or two.

Speaker 4 (28:26):
She is Ellen. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (28:30):
Every Monday and Wednesday we read your letters to Ellen.
You can write to us anything that's on your mind
at Coast one of three five dot com. Just click
on the envelope and write your letter. This one's from Francis.
Dear Ellen, Please all caps read my letter. I'm a
single mom to my one and only, sweet twelve year
old daughter, Angie. I'm struggling lately. Because of Angie's best friend, Savannah.

(28:54):
Her family's pretty new at our school, and Ange and Vanna,
their nicknames for each other, hit it off instantly. That's
a good thing when you find your when you find
your person. Savannah has a really nice, super wealthy set
of parents. They moved here from Sacramento after selling their
tire business chain for tons of money. They take My

(29:15):
Angie to dinners at Nobu Malibu almost every Sunday night.
They also just invited Angie to go skiing for the
Martin Luther King Holiday three day weekend in Park City, Utah.
I know that's your favorite spot.

Speaker 3 (29:26):
Right love Gosh, Dear Valley, take me there.

Speaker 1 (29:29):
So pretty, I'll go well. Suddenly Angie is asking about
getting her ears pierced with diamond studs because Savannah has them.
She also wants matching sets from a low And this
is the same girl who used to love birthdays in
the park and sleepovers with make your own pizzas and Sundays.
She used to get excited about TJ Max runs with me,
just us treasure hunting together. Now she doesn't want to

(29:50):
go anymore. I'm left wondering, when did my little girl
trade Sundays for status and how do I stay connected
to my daughter. Thank you so much for reading this.
I really do not know what to do. Francis so
we had so much response to this, and keep your
calls coming. I was once a twelve year old girl.
It's the first time I ever said no to my mother.

(30:11):
I was punished for it. My mouth. I had to
go wash my mouth. That was soap. It was I'll
never forget the soap bar either. You know what it was.
It was dial soap, the kind of orange bar. Oh, yeah,
I know the bar and it was probably about half
the size. But I went into the hall bathroom and
we were getting ready to go somewhere and she asked

(30:31):
me to do something or bring something and I said no,
and she said, you do not say no, and go
wash your mouth. That was soap. And I did. And
I remember putting that whole bar and no one was
even watching me. She was waiting for me.

Speaker 12 (30:46):
It was a system, yes, and I put the whole
thing in my mouth.

Speaker 1 (30:52):
I put the whole bar in my mouth.

Speaker 12 (30:54):
You just spark the bad memory.

Speaker 1 (30:55):
Oh, I'm sorry, Yeah, what did you do?

Speaker 3 (30:58):
I didn't.

Speaker 12 (30:59):
I got mad at my mom. I was around twelve
years old, and instead of calling her Mama like I
always did, I said, okay, Laura.

Speaker 9 (31:05):
No.

Speaker 1 (31:08):
Oh, and it wasn't she had to go to your room. No,
she did.

Speaker 12 (31:13):
She she whacked me.

Speaker 1 (31:15):
Yeah. I deserved it. Yeah, oh my Laura. I'm so sorry.
But look, you know what these are. These are growing moments,
they really are. And we got so much response to
your letter, Francis, so thank you for writing us. And
bring it up, Devora, let's go to you. You see
the situation a lot.

Speaker 7 (31:34):
Why I am. I'm a high school teacher and I've
taught every grade, including junior I, so I get what
she's going through. Plus I have kids my own. My
biggest suggestion is to have a conversation with her about,
you know, what their means are and the fact that
these other people have more is okay, but she can't

(31:56):
expect the same, you know, just kind of have a
real world conversation about money and that's okay too, And
to say, you know, I'm okay with you going to
dinner with them and enjoying this time, but don't get
your head spun around by, you know, by what they
can afford, because that's just not everyone's reality. And you know,

(32:19):
some people are worse than us, and kind of point
out and maybe do some volunteer work, you know, have her,
you know, get her friend to come and volunteer and
do something good for the community.

Speaker 1 (32:30):
You're walking the walk. Thank you so much, Thanks for
thanks for chiming in. We really need to help Francis.
She sounds sad.

Speaker 7 (32:37):
Yeah, she's she's going through it.

Speaker 5 (32:39):
It's all good.

Speaker 7 (32:40):
She'll be fine. She's a good mom. The kid's a
good kid.

Speaker 4 (32:43):
It'll be fine.

Speaker 1 (32:44):
Yeah, she'll be fine. She will be fine. Everyone will
be fine. I remember the girl at our school, the
real wealthy one. Her dad was a brain surgeon, Molly
Kepling her. She had everything everything, And I remember she
got these really beautiful black boots from Italy, and I
was telling my mom and dad about them because I
was wearing hand me down hiking boots. There were timberlands

(33:07):
that were my mom's and my feet had finally reached
her side so I could wear them. And you used
to have to walk to school in the snow. And
my dad said, we can't get you those boots from Italy,
but you can wear your timberlands, and and you never know,
maybe other people will want your boots and not Molly's boots.
And you know what, my dad was right? Yeah, good

(33:28):
might hand me down Timberlands. I still have those boots.
Love those boots.

Speaker 3 (33:32):
It's like Ruca Sultan Willie Wonka. You know she's a
bad egg. I want it now.

Speaker 1 (33:39):
What happens, Well, let's go to Torrance. She's Loretta. Hey, Loretta,
thanks for calling. What are your thoughts? Good?

Speaker 8 (33:47):
My advice to Francis is to be transparent and open
with her daughter. That listen, I can't provide you all
these luxuries in life, but what I can provide is
love and support and there's no limit to that, and
so that would be my advice to her.

Speaker 1 (34:04):
That's great advice. That love is free and there's no
limit to love. Just surround her with love. Everyone's going
to be okay. Keep your calls coming to help out
Francis with her daughter, Angie. We also can provide for
you one thousand dollars. Well, I had a lot of
love too, but we got your thousand dollars coming.

Black Jackson, Brown Brandon flowers from the Killer Brad Paisley,
Mandy Moore ever clear. So that is something you can
do to remember and commemorate and also support those who
are putting their lives back together. Let's take you back
a year ago to one of the victims of the fire.

Speaker 13 (36:14):
Yeah, I mean you see them. They never come this close.
They never come this close. You figure you have enough
flat and enough like structures ahead of you. But they
jumped it jumped a lot really fast.

Speaker 1 (36:24):
So the good news is we've learned a lot and
we're rebuilding. And what about this. If you're thinking about
a I don't know, a bigger button, maybe a butt
lift or but filler, all you need is money, a
willing plastic surgeon, and a cadaver. There's a new trend
sweeping the country that might horrify you. Some patients are
turning to a next generation filler made from donated human fat,

(36:46):
as in fat from people who have passed on. It's
then repurposed to lift, plump, and shape the living. And
this is a trend sweep in the nation and what
about this. I am obsessed with all the gadgets, the
weird ones, especially at the consumer Electronic show cees and Vegas.
There are AI mirrors. There's one that helps you do
your makeup and another that scans your face to monitor

(37:07):
your health. Can you imagine just wake up and look
in the mirror and get all kinds of information. Also
a clip on device that remembers your conversations. It's small
enough to clip onto your shirt. It can summarize work calls,
settle an argument when your partner claims that's not what
I said, all kinds of things. I don't know if
this is a good or bad thing. And way to
go in and out. Burger they'd begun removing artificial food

(37:28):

broader ingredient cleanup that gained momentum last year. They're doing it.
They are eliminating synthetic dies such as red forty from
