Speaker 1 (00:00):
Good Morning Coast one on three point five where the
LNK Morning Show. Thank you for making us your destination.
You know what we are where you're good guys at sunrise.
Speaker 2 (00:09):
There you go.
Speaker 1 (00:10):
I'm Ellen.
Speaker 3 (00:12):
Hello, I'm Social Queen Darlene.
Speaker 1 (00:15):
Darlene had to send a little bear off to camp.
Speaker 3 (00:18):
Yeah, we dropped him off and this is his third
year consecutively going, so I think he knows he's the
cool kid at camp. Now, him and his friends and
they wanted to be the first people on the bus
so that they could get the spot on the bus,
which is in the back, and he snuck in his phone.
Speaker 1 (00:38):
I'm sure if they find it, they're going to confiscate it.
Speaker 3 (00:40):
But an hour after we dropped him off, I already
missed him, and I text him. I said I already
miss you, and he writes back right away, I see
the bubbles and it says I'm turning my phone off
when I get there.
Speaker 1 (00:50):
Oh well, okay, could it just mean I'm going to
be following the rules?
Speaker 2 (00:56):
No, he already broke them, so he didn't even acknowledge me.
Speaker 3 (01:00):
Even acknowledge me. I'm like, I changed my whole life
for you.
Speaker 1 (01:03):
Yeah, yep, I never did sleep away camp as a kid.
I did a day camp, Horsey Camp, but we couldn't
afford it because it was all my friends were going.
It was really expensive. I'm one of six kids. My
dad said find something else or whatever. Well, so I
went with my friends the first day Horsey Camp and
they said why aren't you here, because they would they
(01:25):
were all sleeping over and I said, I'm going to
come in every day and go back. My mom's going
to pick me up. The first day, all my friends
were sleeping there and I had to leave. So I
was kind of there to see it. And as I'm leaving,
the guy that takes care of the horses said you
can help me. And so I was a groom at
(01:45):
the camp and I still didn't sleep there. I'd come
in and out every day. My mom would drop me
off and pick me up, and from like seven to three,
I would brush the horses, wash the horses, shoe the horses,
clean their hoofs, like everything. It was so fun.
Speaker 2 (01:59):
That's awesome.
Speaker 1 (01:59):
Yeah, dead didn't want me on a horse because you
thought they were too dangerous. Also, so there's another camp
for kids that teaches them how to build and cook
pizzas in a wood fired oven.
Speaker 2 (02:09):
That's fun, so cool.
Speaker 1 (02:11):
They should release for adults. I know adult camp Ryan invented.
Speaker 2 (02:16):
I think we should have like a wine making camp.
You learn to stomp grapes and bottle your own wine
and stuff.
Speaker 3 (02:22):
Okay, how about this a water park style camp for adults,
but vibe music, no screaming kids like you know those
water parks and stuff, A lazy river.
Speaker 4 (02:33):
Oh Dom movies.
Speaker 1 (02:34):

Speaker 1 (03:44):
I'm learning so much from you Ryan and your happiness hacks.
Speaker 2 (03:47):
Well, I'm glad Ellen and Darlene. I feel like this
is something. Could you have these kind of I don't
want to say witchcraft, you have these? You have these
sort of folk Florish traditions like I don't know. Don't
you do something with an egg? You wave an egg
around your body to get rid of evil?
Speaker 1 (04:05):
Yeah, you do know a lot of these folk.
Speaker 4 (04:07):
I don't do that, but that was done to me
when I was little.
Speaker 3 (04:11):
So my grandma would rub an egg over my body
and it was to be said that it removes anything bad,
bad spirits, bad energy.
Speaker 1 (04:21):
Yes, it makes you a good egg. Yeah, Olympia is
what it's called.
Speaker 2 (04:25):
Okay, this kind of seems in that same family right
up the alley. I've never heard this. Maybe dark your
family has done this. I don't know. But if you
have a headache, take a lime cut it in half
and rub a lime on your forehead.
Speaker 1 (04:36):
No, I do love that. And then do I lick
salt off my husband's bag, take a shot.
Speaker 6 (04:43):
In the car on the app at home, it's the
L and K Morning Shell Coast one O three point five.
Speaker 7 (04:51):
I mean we should call this folklore Thursday. Those home
remedies that really work, so off the air, Darley telling us,
because Ryan, you just said, rub a lime on your
forehead to get rid of headaches.
Speaker 2 (05:04):
Robbing will apparently instantly go away.
Speaker 1 (05:07):
Then Darlene busts out this one.
Speaker 3 (05:09):
My mother in law, Maria Rodrigo, she's been doing this
and she was a little girl. We talk about it
all the time. But when she has a cold, she
will roast tomatoes on the stove, stick them in her socks,
and the heat of the tomato helps her feel better.
Speaker 1 (05:26):
Oh my god, while she's wearing the socks. Yeah, like
it's it's do you do well? You sleep? It has
to be hot but not they're not. You shouldn't burn
your feet. Yeah, do you sleep?
Speaker 8 (05:37):
Yes?
Speaker 3 (05:37):
You sleep with it overnight anyway, So wishy tomatoes and
then what happens you feel better?
Speaker 9 (05:43):
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (05:44):
I see Ellen k Morning.
Speaker 9 (05:47):
Showing a bottle.
Speaker 1 (05:50):
This is Ellen.
Speaker 4 (05:50):
Yeah, you go to my Morning Coast one O three
point five.
Speaker 1 (05:54):
We love your letters to Alan. We're still getting so
much response to this. I know that we we all
something different here in this studio. But Tony wrote to
us and said her husband was laid off from his job.
He gets his full salary and benefits for eighteen months,
but he needs to clear his head. So he booked
a trip by himself to Tuloom. He bought new swimwear
(06:16):
for the trip. He's been working out. It sounds to
me like he wants a fresh start. Tony says, I
don't want to be controlling during what must be a
difficult transition after losing his job. But am I overreacting
or is this suspicious? He's never had to clear his
head in eight years, but he's never lost his career before.
Speaker 2 (06:35):
It's a big life change.
Speaker 1 (06:37):
So I know Ryan that you say he should go
go on to Loom would be a good place to
clear your head.
Speaker 2 (06:44):
Well, any place is a good place to clear your head.
Speaker 1 (06:46):
He chose to Loom. Mike is a DJ club DJ.
Mike you club DJ in Tuloom? Yeah, tell usbuck party scene.
Speaker 10 (06:55):
It's incredible I've seen some crazy stuff on that Dan's
floor out there, and I'm a married man, and so
I don't know that, you know, going out there would
be such a good idea of your pird of. I
went out there on business. Yeah, so I don't know
about Tony. Hey, Siri, is Tulum a relaxing vacation.
Speaker 2 (07:12):
Tulum, Mexico is a beautiful beach destination that offers a
unique blend of relaxation and adventure.
Speaker 1 (07:19):
You're a capital adventure Well, anonymous, you don't want to
say your name, but what are your thoughts?
Speaker 11 (07:27):
Hey, good morning, Just a quick one. This guy's either
got somebody on the side or he's looking for some
sort of it. As soon as I'm listening to every
word of the story, I mean, it's just going right
in that direction.
Speaker 1 (07:40):
So you don't trust him, you don't believe him, and
she should either.
Speaker 8 (07:43):
Absolutely everything you just said is absolutely true.
Speaker 1 (07:47):
Okay, all right, thank.
Speaker 11 (07:48):
You, Thanks bye bye, Okay.
Speaker 4 (07:52):
Good morning show.
Speaker 12 (07:53):
I mean's so good this morning.
Speaker 8 (07:55):
Thank you.
Speaker 1 (07:56):
Coast one three point one week ago today we received
a letter from wife Tony and it was all about
her husband, Manny, who got laid off from his job.
A horrible thing. It was his career has never happened
in before in his life, and he sounds like he's
having a crisis. He gets his full salary for the
next year and a half, which is great. He has
(08:18):
two kids and like I said, wife Tony, but he
suddenly planned an exoticfacation by himself to Tuloom. Now you reacted.
That's why we have him. We tracked him down. Tony
was fine with him coming on the air with us
because we just want to know his decision. Everyone most
people said he shouldn't go new swimwear password protecting his phone,
(08:44):
it's really suspicious. But Manny on hold and Ryan, I
know that you side with Manny I do.
Speaker 2 (08:52):
I think, Look, well we'll get it. We'll get there,
all right.
Speaker 1 (08:56):
But Manny, you've never taken a vacation away from your face.
Speaker 12 (09:01):
No, I have not.
Speaker 1 (09:02):
So after hearing so much input from friends of yours
and friends of hers, what is your decision? What are
you going to do?
Speaker 5 (09:10):
I think my decision, just because it's for myself and
my mental health, I think that I want to take it.
I do want to take this solo trip. I think
I would enjoy it. I think it's going to be relaxing.
I think it's going to be a reset for myself.
So I just have to think about myself and just
do this.
Speaker 1 (09:27):
Two things Tony's concerned about. You put a pass key
lock on your phone and thought new swim Where wait
there's a third? And t Loom. Tuloom is a bit
of a party city. What does tulum mean to you?
Speaker 5 (09:40):
Taloom just means that it's going to be fun, it's
going to be relaxing. I'm going to be by myself
and it's just going to be kind of like a
meditation part.
Speaker 1 (09:50):
For means all right, so your dead set on going
You need this for yourself?
Speaker 8 (09:56):
Yes, definitely.
Speaker 1 (09:57):
If the table's returned and your wife was off and
she wanted to clear her head and to Loom, what
would you say.
Speaker 11 (10:04):
I probably wouldn't like it.
Speaker 5 (10:06):
I would it be too comfortable with it.
Speaker 13 (10:08):
Okay, But if she insisted, like you are, I think,
just because of what I'm going through right now, I
think that she should be very understanding and just kind
of let me do this.
Speaker 1 (10:19):
Would you reconsider a different place to get your thoughts together?
Speaker 5 (10:25):
Well? You know, I am a big fan of the beach.
I love the ocean waves. They just soued me. They
relax me, and I just think that that would be
more like a great place to just go and just reset.
Speaker 1 (10:37):
Been to Santa Monica.
Speaker 11 (10:41):
It's nicer too, and it's closer.
Speaker 5 (10:43):
It's just it's a different environment.
Speaker 1 (10:46):
Yeah, okay, so you're going.
Speaker 5 (10:49):
I am definitely going yet right.
Speaker 1 (10:51):
See, thank you so much for letting us put you
on the air.
Speaker 5 (10:55):
No, thank you for all the great advice and this
has really helped me out on my decisions.
Speaker 1 (11:00):
He didn't take any of it.
Speaker 2 (11:04):
I'm listening at all.
Speaker 9 (11:05):
But it is your life.

Speaker 1 (11:53):
The question and the answer to make it easy, just
be collar twenty half of all women are trying to
cut back on this and it is gossip. But new
studies out say men gossip more than women.
Speaker 2 (12:04):
I believe it.
Speaker 1 (12:05):
Men just beat us by five percent. We are forty
five percent and you are fifty five percent of the
most gossipers. If that makes sense, Yeah, no, it makes sense.
Speaker 2 (12:14):
I get it. The gossip is called twenty is going
to see Shakira.
Speaker 1 (12:18):

Speaker 4 (12:34):
Coast one oh three point five.
Speaker 1 (12:35):
We got this talkback on our iHeartRadio app. Came it
from Brandon.
Speaker 8 (12:40):
My wife's work friend keeps sending her heart emojis. Is
this something I should be worried about.
Speaker 1 (12:46):
Well, what do you think? Thanks for all your calls,
Oh what do you think?
Speaker 2 (12:50):
Ry?
Speaker 1 (12:50):
Should we go to Jane? Jane? Is this ground for concern?
Speaker 9 (12:55):
No, not at all.
Speaker 1 (12:57):
We sent each other hearts all of the time.
Speaker 9 (13:01):
Yeah, it's a big deal. You could send somebody a
flower or heart whatever.
Speaker 8 (13:07):
You know.
Speaker 9 (13:07):
It's just like it doesn't mean that you know that
you like that person or they involve romantically. No, but
doesn't mean that only you know. It's a different meaning.
Speaker 1 (13:19):
It's kind of like, well I love that. I love that, like, hey,
let's go to lunch tomorrow. Heart love that.
Speaker 9 (13:25):
Yes, I always do as what I send text people, Well,
I always so I love everybody. I love you. I
love you guys. You know I love you guys. So
if I send you a text, Helen, I put a heart.
Sometimes I put kisses too. But it's just that means
I love you. But it doesn't mean to be like romantic.
You know what I mean?
Speaker 1 (13:41):
Yes, yes, it's it is. It's just it's a friendship love.
But for Ryan, unfortunately that was not the case.
Speaker 8 (13:47):
No.
Speaker 2 (13:47):
Yeah, I uncovered a whole scandalous situation with an ex
who was carrying on with a coworker, and I discovered
it with a heart emoji.
Speaker 9 (13:55):
Yeah, I see, I see. Well, I guess it depends
on the person, you know, like you, you kind of
have to make that judgment on your end. But for me,
it's not like Ellen too.
Speaker 1 (14:08):
You know.
Speaker 9 (14:08):
I can send your hearts hearts Ryan right.
Speaker 2 (14:12):
Now, okay, and I'll send them right back.
Speaker 9 (14:14):
Guys, it depends.
Speaker 1 (14:15):
On what comes before and after. I think, right, yes, exactly, good,
Thank you.
Speaker 9 (14:23):
You're very welcome. Have a breathday you guys, love you,
loving the Ellen j morehow well you no no what fans,

Speaker 4 (14:31):
Make us a precept on your iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 1 (14:34):
We love you to thank you so much.
Speaker 4 (14:36):
Host one O three point five.
Speaker 1 (14:37):
I am Ellen Kate and as anyone in my phone
contacts can tell you, I love emojis. I use them
early and often, and sometimes I have entire conversations purely
in emoji. But what emoji do we as a global
people use the most? The Unicode Consortium just release the data.
They are the keepers of the emoji, and the winner
(14:58):
is the crying, laughing face, the red heart, and face
with hard eyes round out the top three. We face
with hard eyes that you listen to.
Speaker 4 (15:06):
Us, catch the Hellnday Morning Show cold on your phone.
Speaker 8 (15:10):
You guys blend together and you're just wonderful to listen
to you guys. You kind of bounce off each other
and joke around, and that's that makes it so much
more interesting.
Speaker 1 (15:19):
We all love you. We're all here listening to you,
all of us.
Speaker 4 (15:21):
Make coast one of three point five a preset on
your iHeart radio.
Speaker 1 (15:25):
Use emojis and use them offen kids. Teenagers between the
ages of like thirteen and nineteen use over one hundred
a day. How many emojis do you think you use? Right?
Speaker 8 (15:34):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (15:34):
Gosh, probably like thirty.
Speaker 1 (15:37):
Yeah, I think I'm around there, Yeah, fifty. I think
that our kids are using hundreds of them, and our
llen KQ and a Yesterday. You have a better chance
of getting a second date if you use emojis in
a text. That's why. Thank god, they're always giving us
new emojis. I know we have our own list, yes
of ones that we would like that we don't have yet.
(15:58):
Some of them are shocking baseball bat Why don't we
have that? The barbecue grill? I mean, these are so basic. Anyway,
let's go to Crystal, Crystal, what what are your favorite emojis?
Speaker 14 (16:12):
The thumbs up, the dark skin thumbs up, and the
emoji with the hard eyes.
Speaker 1 (16:20):
And you get good reactions.
Speaker 14 (16:23):
Oh yeah, yeah yeah, you know, like the thumbs up.
I was like, yeah, I agree, yeah yeah, or with
the hard eyes love you know love or you know,
get back with me or something like that.
Speaker 1 (16:33):
But yeah, amazing.
Speaker 2 (16:34):
I was maybe I'd take it too personally, but I
misread that thumbs up emoji. I always feel like person
saying like, eah.
Speaker 1 (16:41):
Oh really no, I look at it. It's like let's go.
This is like I'm for it. Yeah, like come on, yeah, yeah,
thumbs up Bryan, all right, but you do you take
it like it's yeah.
Speaker 2 (16:51):
It just seemed like disinterested, like if you're really into it,
and the cartwheel emoji.
Speaker 1 (16:56):
He is such an overthinker, Crystal.
Speaker 14 (16:59):
And see, that's why things are lost in translations, because
texting exactly, it means one thing to you and one
thing to me, and then friendships are tense because I
made it that way.
Speaker 8 (17:12):
Yeah.
Speaker 14 (17:12):
I prefer to call any day if I can talk
to a person and I'm not busy there, I'm busy.
Speaker 1 (17:17):
I before to call you, Okay, well, thumbs up to you, Crystal.
Thank you guys.
Speaker 4 (17:23):
Take the Allen k Morning Show with you everywhere. Make
us a preset on your iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 1 (17:29):
The iHeart Radio app does so many things. You can
listen to podcasts, you listen to us, you take us
everywhere you go. And then there's something that you can
do is make us your preset on the iHeart Radio
appm SO, which is always boom right there.
Speaker 2 (17:42):
At the top. You know what it reminds me of
with this update that we just did, which I love.
It's made it way easier.
Speaker 14 (17:47):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (17:47):
It kind of reminds me of remember the MySpace Top five,
those little empty spots up top. Drag us right there, yeah,
box your favorite.
Speaker 1 (17:57):
Yeah, it's really cool to see it too, and you know,
and to see what you frequent Yeah, yeah, like that.
That reminds me of this talk back. What are you
frequenting on your phone? What are you looking at when
you scroll? Well, this is anonymous, but she has a problem.
Speaker 4 (18:14):
Hi Ellen.
Speaker 16 (18:15):
I just wanted to reach out to you and see
if I could get some advice. Here's my dilemma. If
you will, my husband and I we always go to
bed together. Wind down together by reading our favorite books
that we're on at the moment, and lately he's been scrolling.
And the other night I looked over at his phone
and caught a glimpse of him looking at different girls
(18:36):
on social media, and one was even in like a
little red bathing suit, is what it looked like to me.
And he's just been more distant with me. I just
wanted some advise. I'm freaking out. I don't know if
I'm making a big deal about this too much of
a big deal.
Speaker 4 (18:52):
But I just want some help.
Speaker 16 (18:53):
Thanks so much.
Speaker 1 (18:54):
We'd love to help you out. So eight hundred and
nine to nine kost. All of a sudden, you're husband,
who used to be right there next to your side
doing the same thing you're doing, reading in bed, has
now started scrolling. And then you look over and you
see skin.
Speaker 2 (19:10):
Would it bother you?
Speaker 1 (19:12):
Oh?
Speaker 7 (19:13):
Me?
Speaker 1 (19:13):
Personally? Yes, I would say, what's looking at? Can I
see that? I would do that too, D Like who
is that?
Speaker 12 (19:21):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (19:22):
Okay?
Speaker 1 (19:23):
Is that anyone we know? Because I have is who?
They pop up in our stream organically I had to
pop them out. Who good morn daring, It's Mariah Carey. Hi,

Speaker 12 (20:19):
My pleasure, Thank you guys for being so immoertaining.
Speaker 1 (20:22):
Ah And so it says here on the screen, maybe
you're doing Taco Tuesday, your fresh tortillas somewhere.
Speaker 12 (20:28):
Yes, after work, I'm taking my my two sons that
don't live with me. We're going to dinner. We have
every Tuesday night we go to dinner, and tonight they
want to go to a special restaurant for our family
that's in Riverside and they make their own tortillas.
Speaker 1 (20:41):
What's it called.
Speaker 12 (20:43):
It's called on shows. It's kind of got like a
Southwestern floor to it. Their steak tacos are.
Speaker 1 (20:50):
Amazing we love hearing like local food.
Speaker 2 (20:53):
Yeah, no kidding. And why do you why is it
special to your family?
Speaker 12 (20:56):
Well, my cousin's aunt introduced us to it, and then
it became kind of like whenever we'd go out as
a family, that was one of the special places that
we'd go.
Speaker 1 (21:05):
And how old are your boys?
Speaker 12 (21:07):
I have a seventeen year old, a thirteen year old
and a seven year old.
Speaker 1 (21:11):
I'll bet you get great stories at dinner.
Speaker 11 (21:14):
I do.
Speaker 1 (21:15):
And isn't this what gets us through the workday, having
something at the end of the day to look forward
to something or someone, or having your family together and
being able to just be together. It's so it's the
best thing in life.
Speaker 12 (21:26):
When I was little, we used to have a hard
time geting up in the morning to go to school,
and my mom would always come in and she figured
out that if she gave us like the one thing
to look forward to, it was easier to get us up.
And I've just tried to carry that through my life.
Every morning I get up and it's like, what's my
one thing that I'm going to look forward to? And
I'm lucky to say that most of the time it.
Speaker 8 (21:46):
Has to do with my kids.
Speaker 1 (21:48):
Yep, I hear you. I hear you.
Speaker 10 (21:51):

Speaker 1 (21:52):

Playing the mud, Yes, I loved love that.

Play video games.
Speaker 3 (22:47):
I wish that I made time to still play.
Speaker 1 (22:49):
Some video games. How about kick the can? Yeah, oh
my god, we loved that. We used to do that
every night in the summertime. We would go out and
our street wasn't traveled much. My parents would always worry.
They're like, but the cars are coming, but really we
wouldn't get that many cars. We could have gone to
the could to Sacket was right there, but we are
always in the main street and we love just hiding
(23:13):
and then going out to kick that can.
Speaker 2 (23:16):
I did kick the can. What was the You just
kick a can?
Speaker 1 (23:19):
Well, okay, someone's on the can guarding the can. You
can't sit on the can. You just have to guard
the can. Oh, and then everyone else is hiding, so
when that person's back is turned, you have to go
kick the can. Yeah right, yeah, if the perchasin I
think if the person catches you, then you have to
(23:40):
guard the can.
Speaker 2 (23:41):
Okay, So it's kind of like a mix between like
tag tag and sneak. Yeah, okay, got it. You know
the one thing we can't do anymore, which we used
to do all the time, but I think things have
changed so much. We can't just go out of someone's
house and drink out of the hose.
Speaker 1 (23:56):
Oh that was so great, you know, Well you could
you could.
