like it's taking the focus off their daughter. You know,
their daughters the one graduating, but now they're going back
and forth about it, so it just kind of sad.

It's one of those it's like a high conflict post
divorce dynamic. And they're not always like that, but when
you have a high conflict you excuse me, post divorce dynamic,
it's really important for the parents to shift from it
being about them, about winning, to what's in the best
interest of the child.

Uh huh. It sounds to whenever I hear of a
man or a woman wanting to bring the new person around,
and it's almost like a show offee thing, like they're
doing it more for themselves than for their partner. Like
if this is a year out that they've been divorced
and then he's insisting on bringing the new girlfriend, it
sounds to me he knows all the family and friends

are gonna be gathered there, he wants to show her off.

I mean, it's very possible, Like I mean what I
hear is power and dominances, and that actually could be
viewed through either of lands. I mean, if we were

assert herself.

Well, we got a letter from Janine and I read
it the other day. We got so many calls her
ex husband Marco is insisting on bringing his new girlfriend
to their daughter's graduation tonight at USC and I feel
like it's taking the focus off their daughter. You know,
their daughters the one graduating, but now they're going back
and forth about it, so it just kind of sad.

It is sad.
Speaker 5 (21:28):
It's one of those it's like a high conflict post
divorce dynamic. And they're not always like that, but when
you have a high conflict you excuse me, post divorce dynamic,
it's really important for the parents to shift from it
being about them, about winning, to what's in the best
interest of the child.
Speaker 1 (21:48):
Uh huh. It sounds to whenever I hear of a
man or a woman wanting to bring the new person around,
and it's almost like a show offee thing, like they're
doing it more for themselves than for their partner. Like
if this is a year out that they've been divorced
and then he's insisting on bringing the new girlfriend, it
sounds to me he knows all the family and friends

are gonna be gathered there, he wants to show her off.
Speaker 5 (22:11):
I mean, it's very possible, Like I mean what I
hear is power and dominances, and that actually could be
viewed through either of lands. I mean, if we were
to talk to him, he would probably say that he
feels controlled, he feels like the wife is trying to
assert herself.

I don't really think either one.
Speaker 5 (22:29):
Is necessarily true, but it's probably how they both perceive it.

Uh huh.

But at what point, though, Sarah, does this guy and
Ellen does this guy get to start living his life
the way he's living it?

I mean, where's the line? Okay, this is what I
would say, and Sarah, I want your professional opinion, because
I'm not a professional. I would say, don't use the
big life events when it's this fresh.

I'm hoping that both of the parents can think in
terms of how do they want their daughter to remember
this day?

Oh right, See, I always make it about the kid.

I think sensitivity should always rule.

But we just want to wish all the graduates a beautiful,

you really reflecting on all the hard work you've done,

congratulate yourself too much or burraate yourself either. Your choices
are half chance, so are everybody.
