(00:00):
El good morning. Hey, howare you good man? How are you
good? Good? Good good?Just so before we start, before Ellen
gets in here, I want totell you you are in good hands.
Nineteen eighty seven. I'm I wassix years old at the time. Star
Plaza, Mayorville, Indiana. WeirdAl Open for the Monkeys. I was
there. Oh wow. Oh weplayed in star Plaza so many and that

(00:23):
doesn't exist anywhere, does it.No. I think they tore it down.
Yeah it's not there. Yeah right, but yeah, that was my
very first concert. UHF, topfive movie of all time. I went
to see the Wonka Show at theBowl just because you were in it.
I think I still have my curlygreen wig that I wore as an oopa

(00:45):
lupa. I love it. Yeah, there's Ellen. Hi, Hey Ellen,
I know I'm doing great. Thankyou so much for coming on with
us my pleasure. Yeah, congratson everything. Congrats on your project.
We can't wait to see it.Weird al yank you Vick story near You
got so many Emmy nominations. Howabout that? Thanks? Yeah, I

(01:08):
mean yeah, Emmy's got postponed abit, so I can't wait till next
month. I get to go tothe Emmys for the first time, and
we'll cross my fingers, we'll seewhat happens. Yeah, now, al,
what's more important to you? Theeight Emmy nominations are the twelve dollars
you got from your two hundred millionSpotify streams so you could buy the sandwich.
They're both about equal. I think, Yeah, so that's what if?

(01:33):
I think kind of a one viral. Didn't that I wasn't expecting that
weird? Al, what's the weirdestthing you do in real life? Oh?
Oh, you know, my reallife isn't really that weird, which
is why we had to take afew liberties for the movie. You know,
my actual life is that's a littlelittle sedate, a little low key,

(01:53):
a little boring, so we hadto spice it up a bit.
Was there ever a thought though,Okay, so you're weird, alt you
do all these parodies, you createthis sort of biopick. Was there ever
a thought that it wouldn't be justridiculous and not true? No, that's
aught that was always the concept.I mean, I don't think and you
know, there are a few fansthat expressed as a point like, oh,

(02:15):
I really wanted to hear the realstory, like, yeah, well
you can read about that online, you know Wikipedia or exciting. Yeah,
go to Wikipedia. It's all there. Yeah, we wanted to have some
fun with it. I mean, you know, how could you like to
have a biopic about the guy thatdoes parodies and not making a parody of

(02:35):
biopics. Yeah, totally, that'sso good. What do you think of
Showhan and the Dodgers? Are youa huge Dodger fan? I don't follow
sports that much, but you know, the Dodgers are one of my favorite
basketball teams for sure. By theway, Oh, I did have an
idea if you ever do a sportssong, you could do a baseball parody

(02:57):
song. It's called I'm a Reliever. Okay, I actually do have a
sports song called sports Song on mylast album. We Won't even ask you
about Travis and Taylor then, Ohyou know, uh yeah, I wish

(03:17):
them the best. I haven't gottenthe Christmas card yet this year. I'm
still waiting for that, but Ihope they do. Okay, Oh,
speaking a local, like, youknow Christmas invites. Do you go to
the Kardashian party? Do you getthat invite from Kim or Chris? I
did not. They must have lostmy adrop I love it. Okay,

(03:42):
Now this is a true story.Years ago, I was interviewing Ben Folds
and Ben Folds credited you with beinghis biggest musical inspiration. Okay, And
and a lot of artists do.And I think it's fascinating because of what
you do and how you do it. But you have these these artists that
are like Weird changed my life. What do you want your legacy to be?

(04:08):
I haven't given it a long time, but I think changing Ben Bold's
life is a good one. Yeah. Lin Manuel Miranda is a good friend
of mine, and he told methat, you know, Hamilton was partly
inspired by me, which you know, kind of blows my mind. I
mean it's you know, I've beenaround for a long time, so it's
crazy to think that, like alot of people, a lot of artists

(04:28):
that are extremely famous today kind ofgrew up listening to my stupid music.
So that's that's always nice to hear. Yeah, well, you bring so
much happiness to so many. Imean, really, thank you, no,
thank you. And we're so excitedfor all these bonus features on on
Weird. The Al Yankovic story.I know there's a lot of extra content

(04:49):
coming out on this too, Sowe're excited. Thank you, my pleasure.
I did it for you. Yeah, I know you did. Yeah.
What are your holiday plans? Now? What do you do? And
for Christmas? We're kind of,you know, it's kind of low key
this year. We're not going anywhere. We're gonna stay at home in LA.
My daughter's a junior in college andshe's flying in tomorrow. Uh and

(05:12):
the in laws are flying in.So we're just gonna have a kind of
hunker down and have a little intimate, little family holiday get together. I
just don't want you to be normal, I know, I know, we
want something wild. By the way, one last question, does the name
Randy Kurdun do anything for you?I love Randy, Yeah, I mean
he was. He's a close friendof mine. We were DJs in college

(05:34):
together. I think we had Christmasat Danny's together once, because you don't
get, you know, time offwhen you're a DJ. So we I
think we think we wrote a songcalled Christmas at Danny. Yeah. I've
been friends with him for a longtime. Okay. Yeah, he called
us and told us a couple oftales of you so good stories. Yeah.

(05:56):
Well, thank you for the time. You're a you're a hero for
real. Thank you. Oh thanks, thanks so much. All right,
have a great day.
