I don't know if I've told you this, but I'm
really proud of what you're doing for Make a Wish Foundation,
and I wanted you to come on in and tell
our audience as well so we can support what you're doing.
And we all know Make a Wish makes wishes come
true for terminal legal kids.
Speaker 2 (00:21):
They grant wish, Yes, they grant wish is for kids
that have been diagnosed with critical illnesses. And I've got
to meet a lot of the Make a Wish kids
and families while training. So I'm doing what's called the
Trailblaze Challenge here in Alabama, and it raises awareness for it.
But the kids, a lot of these kids and their
families and their siblings have been in hospitals for months.
While these kids are recovering, right, and a lot of
(00:42):
these kids start to lose hope and they just kind
of get down and drug out because imagine being a
seven year old, You've been in a hospital bed for
six months. So when they get granted a wish. There's
actually clinical studies that show it gives them hope and
can change the way they respond to treatment. They literally
it's just positive for.
Speaker 1 (01:02):
I love the organization. In fact, we had a family
member that went through this as well. And these people
are special people. It's like hospice people. It's just a
special type of person that does this and works with
these people and makes things happen. So what is your
event all about this weekend?
Speaker 2 (01:17):
And I just want to say this real quick, Not
all kids are terminal. Some I've met adults that were
make a wish. Kids that make a wish it can
literally save their life. So Saturday, I'm hiking twenty six
point three miles on the Pinhody Trail at Mount Chee
Hall Oh Wow, in one day. And it's a whole
group of people that are doing.
Speaker 1 (01:34):
Have you ever done twenty six No.
Speaker 2 (01:36):
I am stressed out. The longest I've done in one
day is twelve miles.
Speaker 1 (01:40):
And this is a walk. It's not a marathon rung.
Speaker 2 (01:43):
No, it's a high I mean, I'm going to try
to jog the flats because you hit the trail at
five in the morning. It's probably going to take me
twelve hours to do at least.
Speaker 1 (01:51):
Well, I'm exhausted just thinking about you.
Speaker 2 (01:52):

Speaker 1 (01:54):
Already done my cardio. Thanks to you for just telling
me about this. I get tired after driving twenty six miles.

it start?
Speaker 2 (02:02):
So we'll start Saturday, Yes, Saturday, we'll start. We'll hit
the trail at five in the morning, and you can
come to the finish line. They're letting people come support,
friends and family and anybody who want to support at
the finish line, but a lot of people probably won't
hit the finish line until at least three four in there.
Speaker 1 (02:17):
Is this the first annual? No, this is the ninth.
Speaker 2 (02:19):
Next year will be the tenth annual. But it's in
all the money. It's Make a Wish Alabama. It's not national,
it's right here in Alabama, and all the money stays here, Okay,
