Speaker 1 (00:00):
It is six forty three. Now I'm dill Obama's morning News.
I'm JT. John Decker joins US now, our White House
correspondent on the update on how the President's been doing it. Boy,
the guy never stops. I don't know when he sleeps. John,
busy week as the I guess it was the Is
it the prime minister, the head chancellor, the president of
Japan was in town? What is is he? The president?

Speaker 2 (00:20):
Well? No, first of all, you're talking about the Prime
Minister of Japan not in town. But the US did
reach a trade deal with Japan, the President announcing that
Tuesday early evening.

Speaker 3 (00:33):
That's a big deal. They're a big trading partner of
the US.

Speaker 2 (00:35):
The US actually JT has a trade deficit with Japan,
but perhaps this will narrow that trade in balance. What
the President announced is that Japanese goods coming into the
US will now be hit with a fifteen percent tariff.
US goods heading over to Japan will not face a tariff.
And in addition to that, Japan agreed to open up

(00:58):
its markets to certain INDUS for manufacturing, for agriculture, and
for the auto sector as well. So the President of
believing that this will lead to additional trade deals that
could be announced in.

Speaker 3 (01:12):
The days ahead.

Speaker 2 (01:13):
And specifically, I'm looking to see whether there's a trade
deal announced JT between the United States and the European Union,
that's America's biggest.

Speaker 3 (01:22):
Trading partner by volume.

Speaker 2 (01:24):
That would be a big deal if the President is
able to achieve that, well he's.

Speaker 1 (01:28):
Put that August one deadline out there, or else. Who
is facing the biggest or els.

Speaker 2 (01:34):
Well, there are a number, but I think that certainly
at the top of the list is Brazil. They're facing
a fifty percent five zero fifty percent trade tariff on
August first.

Speaker 3 (01:44):
The US does do.

Speaker 2 (01:45):
Significant trade with Brazil, but Brazil is a country that
is often aligned with China. In fact, all countries that
are aligned with China could be facing much higher tariffs
come August the first. You're talking about South Africa, India,
and Brazil as well, So those countries certainly are trying

(02:07):
to work out some sort of trade deal between now
and eight days from now. That's when August first we'll
be around for all of US, and certainly the trade
advisors to the President, including Scott Bessett, who's leading those
trade negotiations, well aware of that date.

Speaker 1 (02:23):
Yeah, big day yesterday too, as far as artificial intelligence
is concerned. The White House had a little summit yesterday
and President Trump spoke about it.

Speaker 4 (02:30):
We must put America first. This is a nation that
invented the light bulb, the telegraph, the television, the telephone,
the computer chip, the smartphone, the GPS, the integrated circuit,
and even the internet. Basically, we invented everything. What is left,

(02:50):
We invented everything, and now it's AI.

Speaker 1 (02:54):
Incredible there. So he also signed an executive order around this,
John to kind of move forward with it.

Speaker 2 (02:59):
Well, you think the President's right that AI really is
the future. It's the future of the global economy and JT.
When all of these foreign leaders come to meet with
President Trump at the White House, you know, they typically
talk about trade and security issues, but for many leaders
they come, they've added a new item to the agenda,
and that is AI.

Speaker 3 (03:19):
It is artificial intelligence.

Speaker 2 (03:21):
The President, as you displayed in that clip, wants America
to be the leader in artificial intelligence and obviously taking
some actions to make that happen. To make that the case.
The US is certainly facing a lot of competition from
around the world concerning AI and I think our chief
competitor in that regard is China.

Speaker 1 (03:42):
Yeah, I agree with you there. But every corporation and
everybody that has a cell phone, and everybody that's you know,
in business or you know, moving forward with their careers,
better jump on the AI train now. No need to
wait until tomorrow, because it's already moving pretty darn quick,
so quickly. On his trip to Scotland, what's going on.

Speaker 2 (03:59):
Well, it's I would say it's a work trip, but
it's also a personal trip. The President's going to be
visiting two of his golf courses. He's going to be
playing some golf, some links golf. While he's in Scotland,
he's going to be meeting with the UK Prime Minister
Keir Starmer as well. That's the work side of the week.
But you know, I never knock any president taking some

(04:23):
time off. As you pointed out at the very beginning
of our conversation, I'm surprised, astonished sometimes JT at the
energy level of Donald Trump, and he, like everybody, deserves
a little time off.

Speaker 1 (04:34):
One hundred percent. He is just NonStop movement. I mean,
once again, like four or five hours of sleep at
night and he gets up fresh is going to be
all right, John, Thank you, Buddy. I appreciate you
