Speaker 1 (00:00):
Dallabama's Morning News. I'm JT joining us now to talk
about the Easter season is upon us and the best
movies to watch with your family before Easter is from
Focus on the Family. Adam Holes, Adam, welcome in, Thanks
for being.

Speaker 2 (00:12):
Here, glad to be on this morning. Thank you. JG.

Speaker 1 (00:16):
So there's a new movie opening up this weekend from
Angel Studios. It's their first animated venture called King of Kings.
And I watched the trailer on this one, and boy,
this really looks good. Do you like this one?

Speaker 2 (00:27):
Yeah? You know, this is a terrific movie and it's
interesting on a couple of different levels. You know. The
title tells us, obviously, the King of Kings is Jesus,
and we've got a story about Jesus, as we often
do this time of year. The two things that makes
it this interesting is that if based on a book,
a short story actually written by Charles Dickens for his

(00:49):
family called The Life of Our Lord, and it wasn't
published until after his death, So that's the first thing,
and the story frames it kind of that way. It's
Charles Dickens and animated version relating the story of Christ
to his young son Walter so they're kind of in
the background of these scenes as Jesus goes about his

(01:10):
ministry and it's spied and resurrected, So that's interesting. The
other thing that I think is interesting is it is
a huge a list cast. So we've got Oscar Isaac
as the voice of Jesus Christ, Kenneth Branna as the
voice of Charles Dickens, and some of the other voice
actors are Forrest Whitaker, Pierce Brosnan, Uma Thurman, Mark Hamill

(01:34):
as King Herod. I mean, it's it really is an
all star vocal cast, and I couldn't help but think, man,
I hope as they made this movie they were paying
attention to the message as well, so would appropriate good
for families?

Speaker 1 (01:50):
Yeah, I think the families are going to enjoy it,
and Judy and our plan to take our granddaughters to
it as well this weekend, So put that on our
list the top this weekend. I would imagine some other
movie that you would recommend. Passion of the Christ Boy
certainly on the other end of the spectrum as far
as intensity goes to ten Commandments the Bible. What are
your thoughts on good movies to watch this week?

Speaker 2 (02:13):
You know, it's interesting you should ask that we are
in the midst of what we're calling Christian movie Madness,
which is a play on March Madness. And we have
started with sixty four Christian movies and if you go
to plug in dot com, you will see a way
to click through to that and you can find the

(02:33):
list for all sixty four movies. And it's been so
much fun just to look at some of the movies
that are out there and to remember, oh, yeah, that
was a great one. Obviously, The Passion of the Christ,
as you mentioned, is an r movie because it's a
really graphic depiction of Jesus crucifixion and not going to
be for everyone, but certainly on moving movie it is

(02:55):
going up in the finals against The Chronicles of Narnia, Lion,
the Witch, and the Wardrobe. And of course we've got
tons of other movies that are potentially i think, great
movies both about the life of Christ and you know,
movies that have Christian themes that you will find on
those lists. I mean, some of those include The Case

(03:19):
for Christ, Jesus Revolution, I Still Believe, and then we've
got things like Left Behind and God's Not Dead, and
you know, ones that are a little bit more focused
on history. So we've got movies like Looser and then
some of the other Chronicles of Narnia movies. So I
think if you've ever thought like, oh man, I just

(03:41):
wish we could figure out a movie to watch this,
we can. It'll take you a little while to get
through all sixty four of these.

Speaker 1 (03:47):
Yeah, I would have mentioned it, So start today if
you're going to be done by Easter.

Speaker 2 (03:51):
For sure, exactly and exactly.

Speaker 1 (03:53):
I don't know if you've seen The Chosen yet, but
I highly recommend that as well. Season four is out
now and we're about raised. It's been out for a while,
but I got to tell you The Chosen and that
whole series just an incredible depiction of Christ and the
disciples and his walk in his ministry. I really enjoyed

(04:15):
that and still have season four.

Speaker 2 (04:16):
Watch yep. Season four is out and the season five
is being released in theaters you know where they clump
several episodes together. So this weekend will be the third
of those weekend movies of The Chosen. So if you're
a hardcore Chosen fan, you can catch it before it
starts streaming. And I agree with you. It really brings

(04:39):
Jesus life to Jesus life, you know, to life in
a way that maybe you haven't thought about it before. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (04:45):
Yeah, and you're right. And you mentioned Passion of the Christ.
And it is rated R for the graphicness. But yet
and still as bad as it was to watch, and
as hard as it was to watch, it didn't come
close to really depicting what Christ looked like and went
through when.

Speaker 2 (05:00):
He Wow, that's exactly right.

Speaker 1 (05:02):
Oh my gosh. Just an incredible and pactful movie, but
very hard to watch. And you know, as they say,
you know, good Friday is a tough day as well,
but Sunday is coming and the best day certainly for
everybody in the in the world.

Speaker 2 (05:15):
So that's exactly right. That's exactly right, Adam.

Speaker 1 (05:18):
Great, great, Yeah, I was just going to say, yeah,
we're up against the clock here, but hug plugged in
dot com. Take a look at these movies family focus
on the families. Adam holds some great ideas. Adam, thank
you so much, and have a great Easter season.

Speaker 2 (05:32):
Thank you.
