Speaker 1 (00:00):
Kirby Ferris joins us now from Farris, Riley and Pitt.
Good to see him. My brother, will JT you enjoying
college football? I heard you talk about about.

Speaker 2 (00:07):
It, I mean the games that are coming up this weekend. Yes,
I got to get your thoughts on it here. But
I want to talk to you about what's going on
with this lawsuit. Ye kind of interesting here that New
York City is now suing social media company over addictive features.
I got to say there's something going on with addiction
because for a lot of people, phones are fused to

(00:30):
their hands and they're constantly on the phone looking at something.
I mean in meetings, driving and sitting trying to watch
a movie. The phones are still there. What am I missing?
What am I missing? I got to see what's going on.
I got to see what's happening. I mean it's killing us.

Speaker 1 (00:46):
Yeah, So I agree.

Speaker 2 (00:47):
What about the Can you really sue a social media
company because you like to get on your phone? J.

Speaker 3 (00:52):
When I first saw this, I was very skeptical of
this litigation, But once I dug into it a little bit,
if some of the things they are saying turn out
to be true, if they can prove them. Then it's
a very interesting case. And it's not just New York.

Speaker 1 (01:05):
This is there's.

Speaker 3 (01:06):
Lawsuits all over the country by various cities complaining of
the same thing and what they're saying. It's sort of
a kin to the tobacco litigation from years ago, right
where everybody was like, how can you sue people it's.

Speaker 1 (01:18):
Their choice to smoke cigarettes.

Speaker 3 (01:20):
Well, then we learned that they were doing things to
the tobacco to try to addict.

Speaker 2 (01:23):
People, putting actual chemical ingredients in there that would addictive
properties to them, right, that would draw you back to
the cigarette.

Speaker 3 (01:30):
Yeah, So if there is some truth in this lawsuit
that they're actually trying to addict kids and it's causing
these illnesses they're complaining of.

Speaker 1 (01:40):
That could be legitimate.

Speaker 2 (01:42):
You know, I got to think that there's got to
be a way to really ramp up prosecutions and consequences
for people that are targeting children. Oh you know kids,
you know, look forget you come near kids and you
try and lure them into something. I mean that you
got to pay the ultimate price. But this situation where

(02:02):
they say it's addictive properties. Do you remember years ago
when Coca Cola, I think was coca cola. They would
put little one second frames in movie theaters, ads that
really really weren't coke ads, but they'd flash a for
like a split second of a tall glass ice glass

(02:23):
filled with coca cola and made it look so delicious
that you didn't even realize what you just saw it.
It just flashed and all of a sudden it triggered
you to think, Man, I'm thirsty, I could use a
coke and you remember that.

Speaker 1 (02:34):
And they stopped doing it. They were called out on it.

Speaker 2 (02:36):
Yeah, is that same type of thing happening here with
That's what the mind control, That's what this looks like.

Speaker 3 (02:42):
And apparently the cities have been able to measure how
much worse the problems that children are having today are
at versus before they had phones, because we're talking about
fairly short window when you think about how long we've
had social media, and they've identified this as a is
a really there's problem.

Speaker 2 (03:00):
For well, the money tied to it is huge, or
they wouldn't be doing this. But I'm glad that schools
around the country are taking and even here in Alabama,
the move to ban phones during school hours. I mean,
it's a distraction. One hundred and if this.

Speaker 3 (03:16):
Is really going on, there needs to be guard rails.

Speaker 2 (03:19):
Do you think that there'll be something that comes out
of this? How long has this been going on? He said,
there's a number of suits around the country.

Speaker 3 (03:25):
No, I don't know when the first one was filed.
I started hearing about this problem. It's over a year
ago that I started hearing about it. So it's pretty interesting.

Speaker 1 (03:34):
All right.

Speaker 2 (03:34):
We were talking with Senator Tubberville just a few minutes
ago about his defamation of character in slander and Biden's
DJ jumping into his phone and trying to smear him
and listening on what's going on and hacking his phone.
And I suggested he hire you to go after them
in a civil lawsuit towards AT and T because they're
not playing ball either. They were, you know, somewhat complicit

(03:57):
perhaps in this.

Speaker 3 (03:58):
You know they're going to get to the bottom of that.

Speaker 1 (04:00):
I mentioned AT and T.

Speaker 2 (04:01):
I mean we're talking big purse strings here, Yes, I mean,
is this something you might be interested in?

Speaker 3 (04:05):
If coach called you, I'd love to talk to coach,
all right, talk football and talk AT and T.

Speaker 1 (04:09):
I'd love to do. Sure, let's go.

Speaker 2 (04:11):
I'm gonna text him your number. All right, Well, thank
you so much. Good to see buddy. I appreciate you.
Oh wait, I didn't want to get your thoughts on
a couple of guy. Let's talk all right real quick. Here, Yes,
Auburn this weekend. Uh, it's at home. George is coming
to Auburn. But who do you like?

Speaker 3 (04:25):
You know, such weird things happen at Jordan here. I'm
going to Auburn on that one.

Speaker 1 (04:30):
Okay. How about Alabama on the road to Missouri?

Speaker 3 (04:32):
I think Ty Simpson is the best quarterback in the country.
I think Alabama Wednesday game.

Speaker 1 (04:36):
Okay, some people are saying trap game for it's weird.

Speaker 3 (04:39):
I get the Missouri get bad bad, he's focused.

Speaker 2 (04:43):
How about this one here that we've got. Who is
Texas A and M. Guy, let me see what they
got going on here? Oh yes, uh yeah, Florida. Yeah,
and this is going to be at you know, Texas
A and M. Yeah, And you know there's it who
you like? I don't know whether A and M's quarterback
is going to be available?

Speaker 1 (05:01):
Have you been reading that? He's nicknames?

Speaker 3 (05:03):
So that's a tough one. But I'll go A and.

Speaker 1 (05:05):
M home field at home field. All right, well, good
to see it's gonna be a great weekend.
