Speaker 1 (00:00):
New York City getting ready to be one of the
worst cities in America, and well, according to Donald Trump,
of this guy is elected mayor, it will be.

Speaker 2 (00:07):
He's a communist. I think it's very bad for New York.
I don't know that he's going to get in, inconceivable
that he is. But he's a communist, and he's a
pure communist. I think he admits it, but I can't
imagine it. But let's say this, if he does get in,
I'm going to be president and he's going to have
to do the right thing or they're not getting any money.

(00:28):
He's got to do the right thing. It's shocking that
I would have assumed that.

Speaker 3 (00:33):
Never.

Speaker 2 (00:34):
I used to say, we will never have a socialist
in this country. No, but we'll have a communist. I mean,
he's a communist and going to be mayor of New York.
So I was very surprised when I never heard of him.

Speaker 1 (00:45):
This guy is a handful too. I mean, if he comes,
you're ready for his platform. Rent freezes, fair free buses,
expanded welfare programs, government owned grocery stores in the city,
and defund the police. Join us now to talk little
bit more about this. Daniel lead friends who is a
Syracuse University and Young Voice especial social mobility fellow. And

(01:07):
I got to tell you, Daniel, this guy's on the
wrong side of so many things. What is New York
City thinking getting this guy in office?

Speaker 3 (01:15):
Sure, I thank you for having me. I appreciate the
opportunity to speak on mitsimm Donnie's primary wonder the New
York City. First off, I would say that while Ma'm
Donnie and the Socialists in New York are taking a
victory lap with his win, I don't necessarily think that
most New Yorkers voted for him or even support its policies.

(01:39):
It's almost a truism now that typically in primaries are
really any local political proceedings in the city most people
set out and now is really coming back to bite
most New Yorkers, most New Yorkers now that we have
to deal with a socialist, A yeah, socialist who may

(02:02):
you know take the mayor seat.

Speaker 1 (02:04):
Well, with this guy in play here, he won the
Democratic nomination, and voting is always, you know, kind of
a light turnout in New York City, even more so
in New York than other places. Do you anticipate now
that with New Yorkers seeing what this guy brings and
where the city's been under AOC's type of leadership, you know,

(02:27):
in her district and other cities that continue to vote
these left socialists wing people into office around the country,
that they'll get off the couch and go vote and
bring somebody in there besides him.

Speaker 3 (02:39):
I think that Mamdani is one thing that was very
interesting to me I saw I was just on the
internet the other day, was the amount of Google searches
of socialism in the New York area after mom donnie
won the Democratic primary, and I mean exposed the two things. First,
the failure of our educations with them, in which we

(03:00):
after in New York City voted a socialist into the
general election. Do you have large swaves of New Yorkers
searching up with socialism is exactly but two. It goes
to show that people are waking up and once they
research do a little due diligence on Zora Mamdani's platform,

(03:22):
I think that more New Yorkers will turn out to
reject socialism and mcdonnie's platform.

Speaker 1 (03:30):
Well, I got to tell you, this guy's pretty bold
and loud about it. He's not trying to hide anything
He's basically screaming into the megaphone. I'm a socialist and
here's what I stand for, and it's everything left of socialism.
I mean, it's to the point is Donald Trump called
a communist here? So do you see an age difference
as far as the voter base goes for you know,

(03:51):
the leadership in New York that more young people are
buying into this whole left socialist point of view. And
this guy supported, you know, the other side against Israel
in the protests that started after the October seventh attack.
I mean, you would think the Jewish population, let you know,
let alone everybody else would step up and get this

(04:12):
guy out of here. But the Jewish population tends to,
you know, vote Democrat in the city.

Speaker 3 (04:17):
Well, yeah, so on on the youth point, I think
that and it's not just me thinking this, I think
it's generally accepted now that we've had a few days
after the primary to look at who exactly voted for
A Zara Mamdani That yes, young people in specific areas.
I know in the New York Times they called it
the comic corridor. Uh, those areas, those voters are very motivated.

(04:41):
They tend to not be working as much as ordinary
New Yorkers are, and so they had time to go
to the polls and to vote. In uh Zara Mamdani.
If we take a look at the primary map, we're
talking areas in western Queens and northern Brooklyn, right Astoria,
that's for Cybe in Park Slope, Williamsburg, and others where

(05:04):
we have New New Yorkers, typically newly settled New Yorkers
who are part of the young professional class, who are
freshly indoctrinated by universities, and they and they were very
energetic in their turnout. And that's why we have Mom
Donnie who's now running in a general election.

Speaker 1 (05:27):
Yeah, this guy's trouble for New York. There's already people
evacuating like crazy out of that city and this is
not going to help the situation. All right, buddy, thank
you so much. I appreciate your insight.
