Speaker 1 (00:00):
Joining us now Hannah Davis from the Federation for American
Immigration Reform as we get caught up on what's happening
in California now, Gavin Newsom proposing to scale back on
medical benefits for illegal aliens. The fact that you even
have to say you're scaling back, not completely getting rid
of it, it's just weird to me. What is it?
Handed over six hundred thousand on medicare out there in
(00:22):
California illegals, right, I mean, is it even higher than that?
Speaker 2 (00:26):
You know, it's one point six million currently enrolled that
are illegal aliens. Unreal and yeah, and you know we've
spoke about this on the show before about how asinine
the program is, but now they're faced with a twelve
billion budget shortfall, and so Governor Gavin Newsom has basically said,
I want to halt this program for any illegal alien
over the age of nineteen. Started in twenty twenty.
Speaker 1 (00:46):
Six, well twenty twenty six. Yeah, let's get going here.
This cost taxpayers is how much annually? It's got to
be into the billions.
Speaker 2 (00:54):
I know as far as medical specifically, it's about two
point seven billion more than anticipated. So yeah, it's it's
way up there in the billions.
Speaker 1 (01:01):
Yeah, the fact that these people are on this to
begin with, I don't It's like, I guess it was
part of the red pack, you know, red carpet package.
You got one Biden let you in.
Speaker 2 (01:10):
Yeah, you know, we had open borders, and then we
had states that incentivized these open borders and illegal immigration
and said if you come here, we'll give you benefits.
And I think, you know, California as a whole serves
as a blueprint of what not to do, of what
other states should try to not do. And eventually, you know,
the truth comes to light. You know, you have all
these illegal aliens coming in, you're giving them benefits, You're
(01:31):
prioritizing them over legal American citizens. Eventually the system becomes
financially unsustainable.
Speaker 1 (01:38):
It's so crazy, the amount of money. I was just
taking a look at some of the you know details,
that's where the devil is, right. I mean, these benefits,
including this full medi cal coverage, costing California taxpayers, and
they're thirty one billion dollars a year, or about ten
percent of the state's budget. And as you mentioned, as
of you know, last year, all income eligible illegals, you know,
(02:01):
qualify for medical with a one point six million year
rolled at the cost of eight point five billion, as
you said, two point seven billion more than anticipated. Just outrageous.
So all of this is going to be wiped away,
and there's going to be that thirty one billion dollar
taxpayer savings that they'll be able to use somewhere else.
Speaker 2 (02:18):
Well, they're trying to wipe away just the cost of medical.
They're still going to incentivize legal immigration, still give them
benefits and driver's license and food stamps and things like that,
but this is just for medical.
Speaker 1 (02:30):
All right. And now when this was first mentioned, the
Gold Card and Donald Trump, I really thought that Donald
Trump was introducing, you know, some sort of gold card
visa for you know, generating this big buzz for what
was happening with people that could come into the country legally.
But it was a gold card status immigration card. But
now apparently there's a Trump backed visa initiative generating some
(02:52):
buzz what's going on. So I was right, yeah, you were.
Speaker 2 (02:56):
The gold Card visa is what it's been called. It's
basically an alternative to the EB five investor visa, which
gives four national screen cards who invest copious amounts of
money into the American economy. People are trying to present
it as a national debt reduction strategy. Essentially, if two
hundred thousand wealthy individuals invest in the economy through this
(03:16):
gold card visa program that Trump has created, they're saying
it could generate up to about one trillion and economic flourishment.
Speaker 1 (03:25):
That's incredible. I mean, I've got watches. They're great watches,
some of the best ever made. Get my gold visa now,
just incredible grade rates. I can hear the ads now
for this whole thing. But yeah, soon to launch at
trumpcard dot gov. Keep an eye on that. Well, Hannah,
thank you so much. I appreciate you. This morning from
