Speaker 1 (00:00):
Well, it looks like President Trump's working a deal for
TikTok to kind of remain and shift the balance of
ownership and all of this. And after signing this executive order,
it kind of paves the way for the sale of
TikTok to a US group. President Trump spoke about this
and where the President of China stood on it.

Speaker 2 (00:16):
So this is interesting because I had a very good
talk with President and she a letter of respect for him,
hopefully his letter of respect for me too, and we
talked about TikTok and other things. But we talked about
TikTok and he gave us to go ahead. You know,
it's run by American investors and American companies, great ones,

(00:37):
great investors, the biggest. You don't get bigger. I don't imagine.

Speaker 1 (00:41):
There you go. And he did mention too that you know,
as you heard there, the President China's okay with us.
Let's dig a little deeper into this. Evan Brown, our
correspondent on this. Evan, I don't trust China as far
as you can throw them here. So with the balance shifting,
I mean, there's a lot of concern when TikTok, you know,
we put a band out there for a couple of
different times, and people freaked out and people are making

(01:02):
money on it. So what does this how does this
really play out? And China's involvement is still going to
be there trying to dig into our information.

Speaker 3 (01:10):
Well, here's how this will set up. The American subsidiary
of TikTok will come under the control of an American
consortium led by Oracle and Larry Ellison. They're the ones
that will manage it, operate it, run the algorithm, licensing
the algorithmic technology from byte Dance. The Chinese operator a

(01:30):
Chinese owner and operator of TikTok worldwide China, vis a vis.
Byte Dance will own up as much as twenty percent
of this new consortium, and that allows them to reap
a profit off the American market, off of their products
that's being used in the American market. However, it means
in theory and hopefully in practicality, that they have no

(01:53):
control over what is happening with TikTok and the American market.
And that's the real rub because we do know that Byteedance,
which does the bidding of its Chinese communist masters, has
been using the technology to manipulate Americans one way or another. Now,
it's certainly not news that digital platforms manipulate their users,

(02:15):
usually for the purpose of selling advertising and getting you
to buy crap. That in and of itself isn't news
and really not surprising to anyone. TikTok does that, as
does every other platform out there. The problem is is
that TikTok is also used by its Chinese communist masters
to influence American voters, to influence American thinking. A great

(02:39):
flex and a great as you say that sardonically flex
by China at Visavi, TikTok was done. I think about
a year ago, when I think we've talked about this
before JT, when a bunch of younger Americans, usually college students,
were running around saying, hey, I read Ben Lawden's letter
from after nine to eleven. He had some points to make.
I don't think it was necessarily all that wrong. Well,

(03:02):
because China decided to send a sanitized or manipulated version
of Bin Laden's messaging and a distorted recounting of the
history and force feed it into American younger brains, and
that warps their perception on things. China does this a lot.

(03:23):
China does this with for instance a news and history
and things happening in Israel and the Palestinian territories. It
does it on behalf of Russia having to do with
Russia and Ukraine and Cutter and whatnot. This is a
very dangerous thing because we are allowing a foreign hostile

(03:44):
government direct access to the brains of the most impressionable
Americans who can vote. And that's not good for national security.

Speaker 1 (03:51):
No, it's divide and conquer. You know, they are a
monster nation. They would love to rule the world. And
I don't care how smiley handshaky they get with our
president for meetings, they go back to the table there
and you know, China and work out a way to
how to infiltrate the United States again. So let's start
with their young people. We'll feed their brains full of garbage. Well,
we'll get them to argue and fight, and we'll divide

(04:13):
the country and next thing, you know, ah, that opens
up the door they do.

Speaker 3 (04:16):
The biggest the biggest tell here is that China does
not allow TikTok as the world knows it to operate
within China right uh TikTok. There is a separate version
of TikTok it's called something else, but it uses the
same technology, but it's it force feeds you know, how
to study your math homework, how to help your how
to help your grandmother cook her dinner. Uh, you know,

(04:38):
the things that would make for good children. Uh. You
know that's uh, you know, that's what they use that
technology for. And certainly they will not allow some of
the There's a Yiddish word called drek and it means
garbage junk.

Speaker 1 (04:54):
Uh and and and.

Speaker 3 (04:55):
We don't allow that. They don't allow the wrek to
their to their children the way they force feed the
direct to our children.

Speaker 1 (05:01):
Well, there's an American word that starts with s H
that we use quite a bit for this kind of garbage. Okay,
you get the idea, right, Yes, So you know this
is why I don't think that this is we're still
allowing the beast in the room. We might not be
able to yell out so much anymore and do as
much as we got an eye on a little bit more,
but the beast is still in the room.

Speaker 3 (05:19):
I just we allow. You have to remember this. We
have an economy that is becoming more based on social
media TikTok included. There are American companies that use TikTok
in the best way where they were able to advertise,
they're able to grow their businesses. That's all good. We
actually kind of want that. So we have to strike

(05:39):
a balance. And if there's one thing that President Trump
likes to asserts his main superpower, it's his ability to
leverage personal relationships to strike balances and kind of make
everyone happy. It's called the art of the deal. Right, Well,
that this is kind of where we are now. Listen,
no one is forcing you to use TikTok, and no one,
by the way, so there's no law anywhere written saying

(06:00):
you have to let your kids use it. Certainly you
don't have to agree to let your kids use it
just because your kids say they want to use it.
I can use the parent stop letting your kids use
TikTok if you my kid doesn't use.

Speaker 1 (06:11):
The problem is the look, there's a big dance going on,
all right, and they're at the dance and they're on
the floor dancing with us. You know, we may not
be sleeping with China anymore, but we're certainly kissing them
still on the mouth. And I think we ought to
end the relationship. That's all there is to it. Over time,
it's going to you know, I mean we have to
move the dependency back into other countries or back to
the United States and just isolate them economically. So I

(06:35):
I'm not buying this deal. It's you know, maybe a
little bit better, but it ain't the fixed as far
as I'm concerned.
