Speaker 1 (00:00):
Breaking news off of two to eighty near Mountain Brook.
The boat is being removed. I know, I mean this
it's so weird. This thing has been there. I didn't
realize for a couple of months. Now, yeah, where's the owner?
Are you?
Speaker 2 (00:12):
Not?
Speaker 1 (00:12):
Like I got to go get my boat.
Speaker 2 (00:14):
I mean, at this point, it's a landmark. I'm actually
really upset they're removing it.
Speaker 1 (00:17):
I would have thought at this point maybe the city
was going to plan to put a little park around it.
Speaker 2 (00:21):
And you charge it mission, put.
Speaker 1 (00:23):
A little bench. You could sit down and you know,
chat and have yourself a little toddy while you're you know,
admiring the boat that split itself perfectly around a tree.
Speaker 2 (00:33):
Well you know that I'm a regular on the Birmingham
subwatt and I check it more than my email. Sure,
but there were people that actually stopped by and were
laying on the boat, putting their hands behind their back,
just relax and taking photos. I mean, this is people
have people stray painted it and stuff too. But honestly,
it's became so much more of a meme between everyone collectively.
So it's actually kind of sad they're removing it as well.
Speaker 1 (00:51):
Well. The problem with it is it sits right there
in the grassy area with a highway, you know, on
both sides, it's kind of a dangerous spot to pull
over and go get your photo was taken. But if
you're coming from downtown Birmingham and you're headed towards you know,
downtown Homewood, you can veer off from Red Mountain Expressway
(01:11):
and get on two eighty and head out that way
towards or thirty one right into Homewood. So when you
make that turn onto two eighty right before you get
to the Mountain brook Off exit to the right there,
it's in that grass to your left, right right there.
I don't understand how it so perfectly splintered itself right
in the middle on that tree in the front of it.
(01:33):
It's just I mean jacked in there, and it's probably
I think the trunk of the trees got to be
three or four feet into the boat. It was a
mighty hit.
Speaker 2 (01:40):
I mean, the odds of it hitting the tree like
that very slim. But at first I was so confused
as to why the owners didn't come back and get it.
But once I saw the front of it, they would
have to pay to get it moved and they're not
getting that boat fixed anytime soon.
Speaker 1 (01:52):
No, no way. I'd have to say that thing's total.
But when you look at the boat, it's like, okay, now,
how did this happen? Did it? Obviously I'd like to
know what happened to the vehicle, because this boat clearly
came loose from the trailer or the trailer's there, so
the boat unhitched itself from the hitch on the back
and just doing about sixty and kept moving.
Speaker 2 (02:14):
This is why I wouldn't trust myself to back a
boat into the water. Something like this would happen to
me on two eighty of all places.
Speaker 1 (02:20):
Well, the boat's being removed. No word if you know
where it's going, or whose boat this is, or you
know the circumstances around it, we'd love to hear from you.
Two o five four three nine nine three seven two
four three nine nine three seven two. Farewell boat, it's
been a good run.
