Speaker 1 (00:00):
Golf World. It is a big weekend. Even if you're
not really that into golf, this is a fun event
to watch as this is no regular golf match. These
crowds are going to be insane in New York for
the Ryder Cup. President Trump's going. Yeah, here he is. Well,
here's Bryce Bryson d Chambeau talking about the President coming.
Speaker 2 (00:17):
I hope he'll inspire us to victory. You know, I
think he'll be a great force for us to get
a lot of people on our side. And I think
it'll be interesting and exciting to see how crowd and
everybody reacts. It's going to be an electric environment.
Speaker 1 (00:34):
It's going to be amazing, no doubt about that. In
our White House, correspondent John Decker is traveling with the
President on Air Force one, headed to New York for
all the fun this weekend. John, Good morning, welcome in.
Speaker 3 (00:44):
Hey, thanks a lot, j to I'm looking forward to this.
So we leave a little bit later this morning. It's
a day trip for the President, and you know, he
does inspire teams. You may recall you traveled a few
weeks ago on September eleventh, went to the Yankees game
in the Bronx he inspired them. Aaron John hit two
home runs after the President gave a pep talk in
(01:04):
the Yankees clubhouse, And that is what Bryce and Deschambeau
is referring to, talking about how the President could inspire
the USA team as it takes on the best European
golfers over the course of the next three days.
Speaker 1 (01:17):
Yeah, he's been here Brian Danny Stadium before. And I mean,
crowds love him, he loves sports. It's going to be
a good time. So how long will he stay and
hang out with it and watch the match? And do
you get to go to the box with him? And
I mean, are you going to beat in shrimp cocktail
and you know, having a little time.
Speaker 3 (01:34):
That's a good one. Yeah. I don't think I'm going
to be right next to the President during the course
of his watching the Ryder Cup today, but I'll be
nearby and I look forward to it and the President
for him, it's a day trip. So we leave around
ten o'clock Eastern time this morning. Wheels up at that time.
It's only an hour flight to get to New York
and then the President's going to spend most of the
(01:55):
day up there, traveling back around four o'clock, five o'clock
in the afternoon. That's the plan right now, and hopefully
it's a good day for a team USA.
Speaker 2 (02:04):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (02:04):
I know you're a big tennis fan. Are you a
big golf fan as well? Are you into the Ryder Cup?
This is quite a different tournament than say the Masters
of the PGA Championship.
Speaker 3 (02:13):
Well, yeah, to a team competition. I love sports, as
you know, JT. I'm looking forward to college football this
week and a lot of great games on including Alabama Georgia.
LSU's got a big game, Pennsgate is playing Oregon. But
I love golf too, and I love this competition. I
think it's really exciting. The players get into it, the
crowds get into it, and it's so cool that the
(02:34):
President will be there today.
Speaker 1 (02:36):
Like I got to ask you, I mean, you've been
in how many different administrations in the White House over
your career. I mean you've seen it all. And now
with James call Me being indicted, I mean, this has
got to have Washington, DC just a buzz in here.
And they've got a guy that's going to handle the case.
The judge that's assigned to this now is actually a
guy that James call me hired at two different times.
(02:58):
Sounds like a conflict of to me, But just an
overview your thoughts on what's going on with the James
Comy situation right now.
Speaker 3 (03:06):
Well, it's historic, that's for sure, former FBI director being
indicted on two charges related to his testimony before Congress.
It's always important to remember that getting an indictment is
a lot easier than convictions in cases, and so this
will be a challenge for federal prosecutors challenging this case.
(03:26):
And the other thing to keep in mind is one
it's United States of America versus James Comey. That's the
title of this case. It is an awesome thing in
the sense that it is so expensive when you factor
in it's the US government against you individually. President Trump
obviously had to deal with that last year, a number
(03:47):
of criminal matters that were brought against him by the
United States government. Now James Comey is going to know
what that feels like with this case being brought against him. Yesterday,
with the Graham jury announcing these two charges against him. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (04:00):
I mean, it's interesting when the worm changes in direction
and all of a sudden, oh wait, now I've got
to be held accountable on this. But as we know,
we've never seen Hillary Clinton be taken away in handcuffs,
and I would imagine this is not going to happen
for James. Call me either, but hey, enjoy the trip
with the President. And I'm still couding on you. Grab
me a couple of things off Air Force one
Speaker 3 (04:20):
And all right, all right, all right, buddy, you have
a great weekend, you too,
