Speaker 1 (00:00):
John Decker, our White House correspondent, joining us now for
an update from DC and the White House. Well, John,
first of all, I know you were on Air Force
one as the President went up to the Ryder Cup
over the weekend, and after watching some of the Ryder
Cup over the weekend, I'm kind of with roy O'Neil
Roy McElroy and maybe not going back to New York
(00:21):
for the Ryder Cup. That crowd was a little out
of control.
Speaker 2 (00:24):
Yeah, I agree with you. You know, I was there
on Friday with President Trump. I think the crowd when
I was there hadn't had as much beer as they
had throughout the entire weekend, and by Sunday you could
tell they were lit and it showed, and unfortunately they
were focusing their ire at Rory McRoy, who it seemed
(00:46):
to me that focus on Rory McRoy only inspired him.
I don't think he lost any matches that he played
in during the course of Ryder Cup. Really impressive showing
by him. He was I think the most valuable golfer
in the course of the Ryder Cup for the European team.
Speaker 1 (01:02):
Yeah, and I love how they trolled Donald Trump too
in their celebration afterwards with a selfie video and are
you watching, mister Trump, President Trump, And he's responded, yes,
I'm watching. Congratulations. So that's good stuff. But I'm telling you,
the Ryder Cup crowd versus the Masters crowd, yeah, they
would not have that. They'd shut that down in two seconds.
But that's kind of what it's all about with this competition.
(01:24):
So all right, I know we got to get back
after him. You know, next year US lost the Ryder
Cup this weekend. By the way, folks, all right, big
day today is Donald Trump's going to be meeting with
congressional leaders, first of all in advance of the possible shutdown.
And then what's going on with Israel's Prime minister's speech
to the United Nations. ISA Who's going to be in
the White House today, isn't he?
Speaker 2 (01:45):
He is? That will be this morning. The President will
welcome Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Nettie who a little bit
later this morning, they'll have a working visit in the
Oval Office or working lunch as well. Also on the
schedule a joint press conference, and that will give us
a sense about how well their conversation went. The President
has a peace proposal that he's putting on the table,
(02:08):
he's presenting it to Benjamin Ntinyahu. And then of course,
even if he gets buy in from Israel, he would
then need to get buy in from Hamas and that
may be difficult. So that's the first part of the
president's day. And then in the afternoon, the President is
meeting with congressional leaders, Republican and Democratic congressional leaders. That's
a meeting that will happen in the Oval Office. And
(02:29):
as you pointed out, the meeting is because the clock
is ticking towards the possibility of a government shutdown. The
fiscal year expires midnight tomorrow, and should no deal be reached,
that's when we would face the government shut down. The
new fiscal year is supposed to begin October the first.
You have to have a deal in place to fund
the government, and right now there is no deal in
(02:50):
place to fund the government. Pass that deadline.
Speaker 1 (02:53):
Well, everybody's pointing that the Democrats will be at faul
if this does not go through. Apparently one of the
big sticking points the Democrats bring back health care for
illegals in this country, and the Republicans only need a
few Democrats to come on over and get this thing done.
But let me get your thoughts John on this process
and also the process with net and Yahoo. It seems,
(03:15):
you know, this is an addition of you know, rense
and repeat every time this happens one the budget. How
many times have we had this, you know, I guess
continuing resolution CR if you will. It seems like every
time it comes up, we go through this, you know,
and it's like, Okay, we get to the eleventh hour,
then it's done. Net and Yahoo's meeting once again. The
(03:39):
demands on net and Yahoo that Hamas wants and what
he's got on Hamas. Is there anything significant that will
come out of those discussions?
Speaker 2 (03:50):
All we'll have to wait and see. And that's a
conversation that we'll have to have tomorrow. JT. I'm sorry,
but I've got to go. I appreciate always being on
your show, but I need to move on to speak
with one of our other stations. So I'll talk to
you about that tomorrow for sure. See how that meeting
went with Netanyahu and the meeting with congressional leaders as well.
Speaker 1 (04:07):
Very good, John, you got a buddy, a
