Speaker 1 (00:00):
We are still shut down, day sixteen of the government shutdown.
Right now, in Mike Brownds of the Senate Appropriations Committee says,
right at the middle of all the thing is this
whole subsidies for illegals Obamacare. He says, Obamacare is a
failed product exactly, and that's the.

Speaker 2 (00:14):
Reason why they needed to add the additional substitution in
the first place.

Speaker 1 (00:17):
This was not because of the pandemic. This was because
Obamacare is a failed product in the first place, and
they used that as an excuse in order to add
additional federal dollars. In yeh, our Speaker of the House,
Mike Johnson says, Obamacare certainly did fail the American people.

Speaker 2 (00:30):
We worked on repealing the replace in Obamacare back in
twenty seventeen. I still have PTSD from the experience. Obamacare
failed the American people. It was promised to be a
great success to make healthcare more affordable. It's done exactly
the opposite.

Speaker 1 (00:47):
Joining us not to talk a little bit more about this,
and also the meeting with Cash Bttell yesterday with the
President is John Decker, our White House correspondent. John it
seems that nobody's budget on this very big item in
this whole budget situation, and that'd be the Obamacare and
subsidies for illegals.

Speaker 3 (01:03):
Well, yes, that's right. So the Obamacare subsidies expire at
the end of the year, and the new enrollment period
for Obamacare begins on November the first, and if indeed
no agreement is reached before November the first, then those
individuals that get their insurance through the Affordable Care Act

(01:26):
through Obamacare will be paying higher premiums, significantly higher premiums
than they paid last year. That is the reason why
there is no agreement on the continuing resolution. That is
the reason why the government remains shut down.

Speaker 1 (01:40):
And now we know that certainly the air traffic controllers
have been affected by this. And now there's talk. Mike
Johnson said yesterday that our military may not get paid
if this continues much longer. And I think that raised
a lot of eyebrows and a lot of people's concern
that our military may start to struggle as well. And
you and I've talked about it every day. The ripple
effect of this government shutdowns starts effect more and more people.

(02:01):
What are you hearing in the buzz you know, any
movement in the last couple of days that you know,
we don't see it nationally, but you're right there closer
to it. Anybody getting ready to compromise a little bit.

Speaker 3 (02:11):
No, there's going to be another vote today and then
after that vote takes place in the Senate today, they'll
leave town and so the government will head into yet
another week shut down. So it's unfortunate. As you point out,
there are ripple effects that's happening, for instance, at airport's
large and small, all across the country. These delays. That's

(02:34):
what led to the ultimate agreement on the last government
shutdown back in President Trump's first term that lasted thirty
four to thirty five days. Is you know, all those
delays that we were seeing at airports all across the country.
Maybe that will move both sides to you know, come
to the negotiating table to compromise and you know, just
simply do what lawmakers have to do. It's part of

(02:57):
their job is to come to Washington and make certain
that the government functions.

Speaker 1 (03:00):
All right, let's move on. Talk about yesterday's meeting with
Cash Betel, the FBI director and President Trump. Was the
monthly Hey, what's been going on? Update me? Or was
something specific discussed here well.

Speaker 3 (03:10):
The President talking about how he intends to carry forward
with what has happened over the course of the past
few months. He was counting new numbers which show the
crime significantly down over the summer months this year compared
with the last same time last year when President Biden
was in office. The President also talking about sending the

(03:31):
National Guard to other cities. You mentioned San Francisco is
one of those cities that could potentially see the national
Guard sent there. That may be difficult, you know, in
the sense that you know California has a democratic governor.
What is more likely? Yesterday I was speaking to Louisiana's governor,
Jeff Landry, and he told me in just a few
weeks time, in November, the National Guard will be on

(03:54):
the streets of New Orleans. So that is something that
will be new, and it's something that he thinks is
necessary to augment the local and state police force in Louisiana.

Speaker 1 (04:05):
All right, very good, John Decker at the White House.
Thank you, John. We'll talk to you soon.
