Speaker 1 (00:00):
John Decker, White House correspondent in DC this morning. Good morning, John,
welcome back in Good to.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Be with you, JT. Thanks for having me on today.

Speaker 1 (00:06):
You know, just when you think everything's going to go
in the right direction as far as calming down with
Russia and Ukraine, no, not so fast. Apparently now the
meeting's off and missiles are a fly and what's going on.

Speaker 2 (00:20):
Well, what's going on is President Trump was insisting upon
a seafire before that meeting took place in Budapest, Hungary,
and that has been rejected by Vladimir Putin, by Sergei Lavrov,
the Farm Minister of Russia. And as a result, the
meeting's off. The meeting is not postponed, it's canceled. And
what the President has said is Sergei Lavrov, the Farm Minister,

(00:43):
can speak to the Secretary of State Mark Rubio on
the phone if they want to discuss anything. But no
progress in terms of ending that war. And as you
point out in your intro, those missile strikes, those drone
strikes on civilian areas of Ukraine, they continue unobated by Russia.
So there's no end in sight related to the war

(01:03):
in Ukraine.

Speaker 1 (01:04):
Yeah, lovely. All right, let's talk about what's happening in
hamas you know, in Goz in Israel, and right now
our Vice President is there with I guess Steve Witkoff
and just kind of overseeing things. He says, things are
moving okay, decent in the right direction. We've got a
couple of more dead hostages back we've certainly released or
they have Israel more prisoners than we got back. But

(01:30):
what's the buzz there in DC on how this is
all going well?

Speaker 2 (01:33):
Both sides, interestingly enough, Israel and Amas say they want
to keep the ceasefire in place. They want to be
on a pathway to also getting past those other points
related to those twenty points in that peace process. Three
points have been successfully achieved, but there are seventeen points

(01:53):
that have not JT. But both sides say they're committed
to doing just that. As you point out, Vice President
jdvan to meeting today with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Nett
Yahoo also there, the head of Central Command. He's on
the ground in Israel. Jared Kushner, the architect of that
twenty point piece plan, is on the ground. And as
you mentioned, Steve Wikoff, a special envoy, so full court

(02:15):
press by the President's team, making certain that this piece
holds in Gaza, that humanitarian aid gets through to the
people in need in Gaza, and also that AMAS lives
up to its obligations to return the bodies of those
dead hostages back to Israel. And so that is a
good thing. There have been skirmishes, those took place over

(02:38):
the weekend, but now things are back to the point
where both sides acknowledge that a ceasefire is still in place.

Speaker 1 (02:44):
All right, very good and quickly no movement on what's
happening with the government shutdown now as we're getting closer
and closer to November twenty first, and continuing resolution is
not happening, and the ripple effects really starting to affect folks,
And as we get ready for travel TSA and the
pressure on the airlines to have the flights continue like

(03:05):
they are is going to be hit pretty hard the
air traffic controllers. Any buzz in DC that you're hearing
right now that they're even getting close to coming together
on something.

Speaker 2 (03:15):
I haven't heard anything, you know. I spoke yesterday with
John Thune, he's the leader for Republicans in the Senate.
You know he is always hopeful, but there are no
talks scheduled between Thune and his counterpart Chuck Schumer anytime soon.
They need to talk. They need to move it forward
to end this shutdown. JT. It's now and it's twenty
second day, the second longest shutdown in US history.

Speaker 1 (03:37):
Yeah, hundred percent. All right, John, Thank you, buddy. I
