Speaker 1 (00:00):
Our president is probably a whole number. I'm guessing nine
by now. Over there in Scotland, he's playing golf this morning.
I don't know what time it is there. Jonathan Savage,
our fox horse foundal in London, Johia. What time is
it in Scotland? By the way, is.

Speaker 2 (00:12):
One for five pm? So yeah, he timed his golf
to run right through lunch at the lunch break, so
hopefully they got some refreshments out there on the course
in well Medi, just north Aberdeen.

Speaker 1 (00:25):
And a very nice trip he's had so far. Things
going swimmingly, if you will.

Speaker 2 (00:30):
It's interesting because it was portrayed as a private trip
for maybe a working vacation, but it's been very busy
and there's an awful lot of news coming out of it.
I mean, not least the trade deal he struck with
the European Union that we spoke about before, but then
a meeting with the British Prime Minister Keir Starmer flew
up from London for the meeting at a very long

(00:51):
news conference in which they touched on Gaza, on Ukraine,
on trade, on immigration, on just about everything.

Speaker 1 (00:58):
The guy's amazing, I mean, it can't it's just win
win win. Even the left is gone. I got to
tell you, the economy's looking pretty good. I mean they
were talking about on CNBC yesterday and one of the
guy's lost his mind and started throwing f bombs everywhere,
and then he apologized that, okay, and he just stopped
and looked at the camerony goes, the economy's great. I mean,
everybody was all worried about the terriffs, you know, crashing
the market and people are going to run panicked, and

(01:19):
all of a sudden, he's doing all this tariff dancing,
and oh look everything's coming up roses. It seems yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:25):
I mean that he says that this deal with the
European Union will be worth an awful lot to the
US economy, and some of the numbers are very interesting.
That the US promised to make seven hundred and fifty
billion dollars in purchases, including energy purchasers from the US.
European companies say they're going to invest six hundred billion
in the United States over the course of President Trump's

(01:46):
second term, and the tariffs alone, based on last year's trade,
would bring in roughly ninety billion dollars into government coffers.
So there's a lot of money at stake here. President
Trump says it would be good for the Europe, for
the American economy, less popular in Europe. The German Chancellor
said it will substantially damage his nation's finances.

Speaker 1 (02:07):
Well, I got to tell you, there's a worse situation
happening in mister Putin. Talk about the other end of
the spectrum when it comes to the tariff talks. He's
about to get smacked hard if he doesn't get this
whole thing with Ukraine figured out and stop this war.
President Trump gave him a fifty day warning, and now
he's like, hey, you know what, I'll be honest with you.
It's given him too much time because he hung up

(02:28):
the phone after a nice peaceful talk and he thought
everything was going in the right direction. Next thing you know,
within minutes, missiles are landing again in Ukraine. And he's like,
that's slapping my face. I'ming changes my question, Jonathan, two weeks,
how about forty eight hours? Why is he giving him
two more weeks?

Speaker 2 (02:45):
Yeah, let's see how this goes down. Mean, President Trump
said at least three occasions in the past he thought
they were getting towards a ceasefire deal only for, as
you say, Russia to very quickly start lobbing missiles at Ukraine.
And even after this announcement yesterday from President Trump that
the new deadline is just going to be ten or
twelve days away, we're hearing out of Ukraine that well

(03:06):
over twenty civilians have been killed in the most recent
Russian attacks, So that is not likely to help President
Trump's mood or feeling towards Lanier Puttin at all. He
has threatened Russia with sanctions. He's also threatened the countries
which buy from Russia would be sanctioned unless he sees

(03:26):
progress by the time of this deadline ten or twelve
days from that.

Speaker 1 (03:30):
Well, so far he's on track. He seems to be
winning at every turn, so good news. Maybe things will
change with Russia too. Cross our fingers. Jonathan Savage, thank
you so much, but I appreciate you
