Speaker 1 (00:00):
And welcome back to Alabama's morning News. This is John

(00:02):
Mounts filling in for JT. And we have had a
very emotional last forty eight hours and we talked about
some really heavy stuff. But at some point you have
to step back a little bit and kind of reset
your brain and let it take a little bit of
a break. And this weekend, I hope you get a
chance to do that. We're joined as we are every
week by Kevin Flanagan to talk about three things you

(00:24):
could take your mind off your problems with three movies
that are in theaters. And let's start with this one.
Dalton Abbey. This is I guess, a cinematic adaptation of
Dalton Abbey, the TV show.

Speaker 2 (00:34):
Well, this is actually a continuation of the TV show
and it's the grand finale. This wraps it all up.
This is you take the Crawley family from day one
to the show.

Speaker 1 (00:43):
You look back.

Speaker 2 (00:45):
I'm thinking about it so little, the changes your quickness through.
I think they've had two or three movies up to
this point, and then you get to this one, which
is they say going to wrap it up now if
it makes a lot of money, it's hard to lead.
They're actually going to wrap it up. That's not how
things work. But in this one, find the Crowley family
and it's in the thirties and they've they've come along
with the future of Downton Abbey is now in Mary's Mary.

(01:08):
Those who have been following this will remember Mary. She's
been the somewhat wayward but also very powerful daughter. She's
kind of running things and she's now she's got a
scandal that's chasing her because of the divorce.

Speaker 1 (01:19):
Nat to Mary must go now she's a divorced time.
I'm very sorry. I shouldn't have come.

Speaker 2 (01:26):
And she's got financial issues as far as they're as
far as down Nabbey the home as well, and so
we get to we get to watch all of that.
This is This is the soap opera on steroids. If
you're a down Nabbey fan, you will love going to
this movie. If you're not, if Mama were alive, what
would she do? Yeah, there's something else out there for

(01:47):
you this weekend.

Speaker 1 (01:48):
It's all the same characters, right, They didn't recast anyone.

Speaker 2 (01:51):
No, this is this is this continue in the TV
show gotcha?

Speaker 1 (01:54):
Okay? This next one the Long Walk? What's the is it? Comedy?
A tragedy. What what's happening?

Speaker 2 (02:00):
Yeah, neither one. This is actually defined as a dystopian
horror thriller. This is uh This is the latest by
by our author, Stephen King, is based on the book
by the same name. So you got you got a
dystopian uh US, United States. So we're you know, havoc
has been reached across the country. The Long Walk boils

(02:23):
down to this. You get a group of people who
are told start walking.

Speaker 1 (02:27):
Walk until there's only one of you left.

Speaker 2 (02:31):
And the movie is all about all these people on
the walk and what can make them stop walking? Well,
guess what, you stop walking? They kill you and only
one person can win. So it's whoever walks the longest.

Speaker 1 (02:43):
There is one winner.

Speaker 2 (02:46):
And no finish line. There is no finish line, There
is no I mean, it is a bizarre Stephen King
kind of story. What gets them on the walk is
a whole nother story in.

Speaker 1 (02:56):
The very first Long Walk Years to go to Inspire.

Speaker 2 (02:59):
Sounds really but if you like Stephen King, you'll like
this one. Again. The Long Walk is just that people
walking surrounded by military folks and as you dropped, you're gone,
and one person is going to survive and the blood will.

Speaker 1 (03:11):
Blow last one triumph of the heart. What is this?

Speaker 2 (03:16):
Yeah, Hey, this is a powerful movie and I highly
recommend this from this weekend. This is a true story
and it's based on the story of Saint Maximilian Kolbe,
who was a pole, a Polish priest who ended up
ended up in the concentration camp. And the heart of
this story, the heart of this man is the fact
that they were going to take ten people somebody escaped,

(03:37):
and what their habit was back in those days the Germans,
was that if somebody escapes, they took ten people and
they starved them to death.

Speaker 1 (03:44):
I would choose ten of you to stop until the
missing prison I was found until dead.

Speaker 2 (03:49):
So they got their ten. One of the guys, you know,
had a family's kind of falling apart, and and so
Cole volunteers to take his place and does. And it's
kind of the miraculous the story of the miraculous survive
of those ten prisoners and what all went on during
that time in that camp, and it's what got him
sainthood with the Catholic Church. So he is Maximilian Kobe.

(04:09):
It's a it's a beautiful story of faith and it's
based again on the true story of who he was. Hey,
there's something for everybody at the theater this weekend, so
get out there, get a ticket and have some fun.

Speaker 1 (04:20):
Thanks so much, Kevin
