Speaker 1 (00:00):
Alabama's Morning News. I'm JT joining us now Kevin flanning
him to take a look at a few movies out
there this weekend. First of all, let's start with the
kids movie, a fun animated Halloween movie for everybody in
the family. Stitchhead. What's this all about?
Speaker 2 (00:14):
Yeah, this is fun. JT. It is now. They call
it a horror film, comedy horror. Let's rate at PG.
I've watched it. It's not that frightening for you know,
PGH kids. But in this movie, Stitchhead is put together
by this mad scientist who lives in a castle just
outside of town, and he is the keeper. Stitchhead is
(00:35):
the keeper of all the monsters that the mad scientist
has made to keep them from going into the town
and scaring people. Because, like you want to see in
a fun kid movie, they're not scary monsters, not dangerous monsters.
As a matter of fact, at one point in the movie,
they got to make themselves act like monsters to help
pitch Head out. So fun hygiens these monsters get into
(00:57):
and it's a twist on Frankenstein for kids that's a
lot more fun. So this is a good one for
the children. Over Halloween if they're into, you know, a
little bit of a scary, spooky sort of thing.
Speaker 1 (01:09):
Also opening up, this looks pretty good sci fi, kind
of a dark comedy. But Emma Stone and Alicia Silverstone
are in this one. I love Emma Stone, but I
saw the preview on this the trailer. She shaves her head.
The movie is called Begonia. What's going on here?
Speaker 2 (01:23):
Yeah, let me tell you no, this is just a
weird movie j T. It's actually based on Save the
Green Planet, which was done I don't know a number
of years ago. But anyway, in this movie, Silverstone's character
plays the CEO of a drug company or pharmaceutical company,
and it is believed by one of her employees, who's
(01:44):
kind of a conspiracy theorist, that she's actually an alien
trying to take over the planet. And so he and
his buddy kidnapper and they hide her away in the basement.
They shave her head because they believe it's through her
hair that she communicates with her mothers ships. So these
guys are kind of whacked out. So she tries first
to get away, then she tries to convince them to
let her go. Then finally she just pretends to be
(02:07):
an alien plays into their theory, trying to make them
allies and help them figure out how she's going to
get away. A lot of people get killed in this
one in kind of bizarre sort of ways. It's a
little gruesome that way, but it is a it is
a It is a funny movie in a very bizarre fashion.
So there you go, like something by bias and bizarre
(02:28):
this this may be your movie.
Speaker 1 (02:29):
Well, I do like Emma Stone, She's such a great actress,
so maybe I'll go see it just for that reason.
Also a series streaming now for us, kind of a
detective series I guess called Magray. What's this all about?
Speaker 2 (02:41):
Yeah, so this one just came out. It is actually
based on a much earlier version that was put out
a long time ago, and which was then based on
a series of books. As a matter of fact, this
won't be the only season of Magra It's got I
think it's five episodes this season. But Jules Macray is
a young detective in Paris, and he is He's a
guy that doesn't like so many of them we've seen
(03:03):
these shows. He don't care about politics, he done hardly,
doesn't care about the rules, but kind of abides by him.
All he cares about is getting in the truth and
solving the crime. So you get to follow Magra and
his team as they deal with some pretty crazy murders
and stuff like that, but done really well, great acting,
good storylines, some unique storylines, which is always fun in
(03:24):
a crime series these days. So yeah, that one's out there.
Folks like those kind of stories. I think they'll enjoy Magra.
And it's also it's on PBS, so there you go.
There's something worth watching on PBS. Hey, there's something for
everybody at the theaters are streaming, so get out there
and have fun this weekend.
