Speaker 1 (00:00):
Phones are open at two O five four, three, nine
nine seven two. David's got a sign of a stadium
this morning, David, good morning. Have you gotten out and
voted yet?

Speaker 2 (00:07):
JT. I sure have eight oh five this morning and
I was a seventy ninth voter at Shade Mountain Baptist Church.
It's a lot lighter than I was hoping it would be.
But you know, as a former council city council member
in Westavia, you know you want everybody to get out
and take part in it. But also, by the way,
great interview a chief Jersy is yesterday. You know Nick
does very well, and I mean I hope he gets it.

(00:29):
But you know, I'm amazed at these people that make
these grandiose promises at candidates that they have no control over.
Are things they know nothing about, like I'll never raise taxes.
You may have to may that may be the only avenue.
But you're saying that you're just tandering for votes.

Speaker 1 (00:44):
Yeah, you're right on some of the folks that are
new to the biz. You know, the biz of politics,
if you will once once you get in, I mean
it doesn't take long. You're you're taking to school quick
and it's baptism by baptism by fire in a lot
of cases. Tuesday. That's that's a good point.

Speaker 2 (01:01):
And that issue with the storm water, you know, the
flooding in the Lower Highway thirty one of Vestavia, Well
we fought with that in the nineties when I was
on the council, and you know, people don't understand the
natural flood plains of that area is Hoover country Club.
That's where the water is supposed to collect. But they're
not going to have their country club for the little
water because you floods us. We set people some city

(01:23):
workers clean the drums out, you know the barrels that
going to the interstate right there to get the water
out of us quicker and they sent the police and
had them arrest of them. They didn't leave.

Speaker 1 (01:32):
You know, I've always wondered about the flooding in Vestavia,
you know in that shopping center of the Bowling Alleys.
You know, anytime it rained hard, it was yeah, you know,
you're bowling through water. Same thing in the Green Valley area,
you know above the country club in Hoover. You know,
those residents have had enough of it and had it
up to here with the problems and not being fixed.
Is is it a really difficult thing that they you know,

(01:55):
can't get done because it's mother nature, or is it
an expensive item in an engineering issue that could be
done if they'd spend the money or don't have the
money to spend.

Speaker 2 (02:04):
I mean, is it yes to both?

Speaker 1 (02:07):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (02:07):
Okay, Because when they originally when they were drilling the
big tunnel that was going to take the water from
the fact it started with marks out doors. Is you
know there's a tunnel about forty feet down that you
could drive a suburban through. It's so big. That was
going to go all the way to the Canabo River
over by Ashley Furniture. They had one going there and
one going down Highway to eighty. Well, the tree huggers

(02:28):
came out and said, no, you'll destroy the river. Even
though when that drill drills it basically it burns and
seals the rock. It's better than pipe. You know, it's
not going to fracture or crack. And that would have
solved the problem. But we had to quit and leave
a thirty million other piece of equipment underground because you
can't back them up. See, they got to go forward

(02:49):
till they come out.

Speaker 1 (02:49):
There's got to be there's got to be solutions to
these continuous water We've just.

Speaker 2 (02:54):
Got to get together. Yeah, we all got to get
together and

Speaker 1 (02:57):
Say, hey, well, David, I appreciate you, buddy, thank you
forppreciate you're listening to
