Speaker 1 (00:00):
Alabama's Morning News. I'm JT.
Speaker 2 (00:01):
And joining us now is Michael Rapperport. You know who
he is, actor, comedian and just all around good guy.
Got a nice little podcast show going. He is in
town filming a movie, but he's also going to be
at the Star Dome coming up Tuesday night. Michael, welcome in,
Thanks for being here.
Speaker 3 (00:17):
Thank you for having me. I'm excited to be performing
in Alabama, excited to be down there for a few days.
I'm going to be working. I'm going to be doing
a great show at the Stardom, and I'm happy to
be talking to you.
Speaker 1 (00:28):
Yeah, man, I appreciate you.
Speaker 2 (00:29):
You've gotten what I'm close to one hundred films and
TV shows. I mean, you've been quite experienced in this
arena here and stand up comedy for sure. I don't
know if you've ever been to Bruce's Stardom before, but
it's one of the premiere clubs for comedians in the country.
Speaker 1 (00:46):
Here.
Speaker 2 (00:46):
I think you're gonna have a blast, and we're going
to help you out and get some tickets going on
this thing. Talk to me about what's going on with
you in Birmingham in the movie you're working on.
Speaker 3 (00:56):
So I'm working on a little film down there. Apparently
there's been a lot of film being shot in Alabama.
But I'm working on a film with Jamie Presley, the
actress who I met when I was doing the TV show.
My name is Earl. So I'm shooting for about a
week and I'm doing the show Tuesday night, and I'm
hanging out and hopefully I'll be eating some good food
(01:18):
and meeting some good people and you know, having a
good trip down to a Birmingham.
Speaker 2 (01:22):
Yeah, how often do you get to this part of
the world. Where do you live these days?
Speaker 3 (01:27):
I live in New York, and full transparency, this is
my first trip to Alabama, So I'm excited. If you've
got any food recommendations, please let me know. I heard
there's good food. I herd, there's good coffee, and I
want to stuff my face while I'm in Birmingham.
Speaker 2 (01:43):
Look, I got to tell you there's some really good
food places. Birmingham has become quite the foodie town lately
in the restaurants. I mean, I heard, oh, yeah, it's
great stuff. I don't know how long you going to
be here doing the movie? Is it a long production?
Speaker 3 (01:57):
They've been shooting I'm coming in for the last week,
so you know, a week is a good amount of
time to work, obviously a great amount of time to
perform at the start home.
Speaker 1 (02:09):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (02:10):
And you know, like I said, if you've got any
specific food recommendations, let me know. And like I said,
I'm looking forward to you know, learning a little bit
about Birmingham.
Speaker 1 (02:19):
Well, look, I'll be glad to you know, help you out.
Speaker 2 (02:22):
And if you're going to be here for a long
period of time, you know, certainly we'll get together, hook
you up and give you some advice and absolutely but
you know, being in New Yorker, there's certainly no lack
of news. And what's happening in New York these days?
What do you find peculiar, odd, funny, outrageously weird about
what's happening in New York and around some of our
(02:43):
crazy cities.
Speaker 3 (02:44):
I don't even know where to start. I mean, obviously,
you know, there was a terrible shooting, uh, you know,
a few days ago in midtown Manhattan. And for those
of you who don't know Manhattan, I mean that's like
the epicenter of the world that you think about New
York being, you know, the greatest city in the world
or you know where it all happens. That where that
(03:05):
happened is right in the middle of the city. So
that was scary. Crazy. Obviously New York's finess stepped in.
And it's unfortunate that in this day and age, you know,
we say something like this could have been worse, Like
we accept the fact that four people could get taken
down in broad daylight, you know, and we go, this
(03:25):
could have been worse.
Speaker 1 (03:26):
It's it's terrible.
Speaker 3 (03:28):
You know. We also have a socialist running to be mayor.
It's a crazy time. We have people you know, angry
at Sidney Sweeney because she's doing a gene commercial. I mean,
this is we're not even dumb the week yet. So
it's unbelievable, unbelievable, Like it's not even you know, five days,
but every week is an adventure. And you know that's
(03:52):
why I'm looking forward to uh doing a great show,
giving some laughs and some some levity and talking about
it all at the start on Tuesday night.
Speaker 2 (04:00):
Hey, we need a good escape, you know, these days
from the madness. We turn on TV and turn on
radio and podcasts and it's just you know, social media
is full and just bombarding as daily to escape and
have some fun with you coming up Tuesday night at
the Start Home. I am looking forward to it. Get
your tickets by going to the Start Home. You can
call them up at four four four eight and get
(04:21):
your tickets. Michael, I'm looking forward to mena. I'll see
you there at the show that night, and you're gonna
love the club. And I'm telling you you're gonna also
love Birmingham. So when you're in town here, you know,
we'll figure out some good things and some good food
places for you to head out to as well. But
congrats on all your success man, and pleasure chatting with you,
and we'll see you Tuesday night at Start Home.
Speaker 3 (04:42):
Thank you very much. And then, like I said, I'm
looking forward to seeing everybody you know while I'm down
at Birmingham.
Speaker 1 (04:47):
I appreciate the time.
