Speaker 1 (00:00):
Joining us now Jonathan Savage, a Fox correspondent in London,
and the latest with the Royal family there, Jonathan, welcome in,
thanks for being here.

Speaker 2 (00:07):
Hello, good morning to you, top.

Speaker 1 (00:09):
Of the morning to you as well, my friends. So
it seems that this royal run seemed a bit controversial,
from Megan Merkle all the way down to former Prince Andrew.
Lots of problems when it comes to King Charles, obviously
with Lady Diana way back in the day. And you know,
it's getting to be more and more troublesome, it seems
for the royal family now is King Charles has banished

(00:32):
his brothers and stripping him of all of his royal titles.

Speaker 2 (00:36):
Now, the Royal soap opera JT has been reliable for decades.
I think it's fair to say, and this is just
the latest episode. Andrew was Queen Elizabeth I's favorite child
by all reports. Now he's not a prince, not a
royal highness. He was already made to give up his
title of the Duke of York. He's been kicked out
of his home by his brother, the King and been

(00:59):
forced to go to a different home on a more
out of the way royal estate called Sandringham, essentially banished
from public life. We haven't seen anything like this for
one hundred years.

Speaker 1 (01:10):
So do they cut his purse strings too? No more
royal money flowing his way? I mean, what's he going
to end up doing? Go and getting a real job.

Speaker 2 (01:18):
Well, Andrew, since leaving the military the Navy many years ago,
has had his own sources of income. He's developed to
a number of business interests and I imagine would rely
on that. I mean the royal family. Bucking and Palace
says basically, this is just a matter for him now on.

(01:39):
From now on, it is expected that the King may
provide from him out of his own private pocket, but
he is not likely to get income from the public
purse or anything like that. But like as I say,
Andrew does have his own business interests. It remains to
be seen the extent to which they are affected by
this ongoing scandal.

Speaker 1 (01:57):
And this is all because of the darkness that surrounds
Prince Andrew and the allegations against him with Epstein and others.
So what is the core of Prince King Charles move here?

Speaker 2 (02:09):
Yeah, so Andrew was friends with Jeffrey Epstein that the
child sex offender who died in prison. It was alleged
by Virginia Geoffrey that he sexually assaulted her. That was
a young woman in the circles of Jeffrey Epstein. He
has always and continues to deny all the allegations against him,
does Andrew. But she did sue him in New York

(02:31):
accusing him of sexual assault. He paid a report at
fifteen million dollars settlement. So that is what has brought
us to this stage. That's a sort of underlying issue here.
But for the King and for others, the fact that
this simply won't go away, aided by a posthumous memoir
from Virginia Geoffrey, which has proved to be explosive. That

(02:52):
means that King Charles essentially felt that his hand was
forced and he had to take this action.

Speaker 1 (02:56):
Well, it's not over. I would imagine there's still some
lawsuits becoming his way, along with others, because once again
the files have not been released, and I'm kind of
anxious to see if in fact that will ever happen.
I'm not sure they will ever be released. What are
they talking about there in London?

Speaker 2 (03:13):
I think the people are thinking is that, you know,
for the Royals. If files were released and opened and
this led to even more scandal for Andrew, people would
be asking why Moore wasn't done about Andrew's role in
public life sooner, Why they didn't take action as sooner?
You know. It's it's it's understood of course that Andrew

(03:33):
denies the allegations, but Charles and William feel that one
way or another he made serious errors of judgment, and
they of course don't want to be accused themselves errors
of judgment by standing by him.

Speaker 1 (03:44):
Yeah, I would imagine his name is muddy in that
part of the world, even with the you know, the
common folks and the you know, the residents of Europe.

Speaker 2 (03:52):
Yeah, I mean, he's not a popular man, Andrew. You know,
if you look at the front pages after this was announced,
you know, downfall of a prince, you know, is the
sort of the heart of all these headlines, and you
know this is not someone who people want to be
seeing in public. Charles himself was heckled last week about
Andrew in this whole situation, so clearly there was a

(04:14):
danger of this infecting other Royals.

Speaker 1 (04:17):
All right, very good, Jonathan Savage, thank you for the update, Buddy,
I appreciate you, Our Fox correspondent in London,
