Speaker 1 (00:00):
Paul DeMarco joins us in the studio. Now is Well,
it's been kind of busy with getting ready for some
municipal elections around town.
Speaker 2 (00:08):
I'll tell you, you know, and people need to pay attention
to these municipal elections. These are important offices that day
to day determine a lot for your cities in towns,
So everybody needs to be paying attention to these elections
that are around the corner. In August of twenty six.
Speaker 1 (00:21):
Yeah, there's going to be some forums coming up for
the mayor's racing whoever. I know that in council there
they've got some things happening, and trustful, it's going to
be happening.
Speaker 3 (00:30):
Most of the municipalities.
Speaker 2 (00:31):
Most municipalities have elections, so you need to be paying
attention and paying attention what some of these folks are saying,
what their positions are going to because it comes to
funding law enforcement, public funding your public schools, infrastructure. Everybody
needs to be paying attention to these races, you know, important.
Speaker 1 (00:51):
And these types of elections too don't usually have to
turn out like the major presidential elections obviously, which I
don't understand, you know, I know a lot of people
just kind of go out there every day life and
they got so much going on, and they don't really
dig into the politics of what's happening in their communities.
And as long as there's nothing, you know, on fire,
so to speak figuratively, then it seems to be okay, well,
(01:13):
just you know, I've heard about this guy or that guy,
or this woman or that woman. Okay, that's what I'm
voting fort and not really know a lot of what's
behind where they stand on issues. And I wish people
would engage more and not have a voter apathy like
we do. When you see i mean thirty five to
forty percent turnout for a major presidential election, I'm like,
why aren't we seventy or eighty percent of people showing up?
Speaker 2 (01:36):
Now, look, these are the races that folks so, oh,
I'm going to pay attention to who's running for president
or congress, but these are the races that do matter
on a day to day basis. And August twenty sixth
were what six weeks away?
Speaker 1 (01:48):
Yeah, we're getting close, coming down to the wire. Also,
speaking of elections coming up in you know, the presidential
election and then you've got the governor's race that's going
to be. I guess next year Senate race. Here you
got for governor. I think Tommy's is what you've got
in mcfeeders is look Seeder's cub Reville.
Speaker 2 (02:07):
I was with him actually earlier this week interviewing and
he's talking about his kind of vision for Alabama and
and kind of look what Ron de Santus has done
in Florida and just stepping up and saying, you know,
public safety, infrastructure, cost containment. You know what he is
his vision for Alabama. I'm excited about because I think
(02:29):
he is going to take what he has done with
the President's administration come to Alabama and say we've got
to run Alabama is efficiently, make sure that every citizen
keeps their money in their wallets and their pockets to
take care of themselves and their families.
Speaker 1 (02:41):
And more fiduciary responsibility as the governor, and cleaning up
where the spending is being wasted to, you know, and
are we really paying food stamps out to people that
could be out there working. You know, there's a lot
of people and you've heard stories about it, especially in
bigger cities where you know, young married couples decided to
not go to work because the jobs that they're out
there paying are actually less than the government benefits that
(03:04):
they can get by staying at home. It's like, what
is going on?
Speaker 2 (03:08):
We saw a lot of abuse during COVID, and unfortunately
some of that has continued.
Speaker 3 (03:12):
So again, I think that he.
Speaker 2 (03:15):
Will come in and look across the board where the
state is as we move forward. So I think I'm
excited about that.
Speaker 1 (03:21):
Well, as Tommy Tubberville looks to be our next governor,
and that opens up the Senate. See, you have got
the Attorney General, Steve Marshall in there, Jared Hudson, former
Navy seal who ran for sheriff here in Jefferson County.
I love Jared too.
Speaker 2 (03:36):
You've got Steve Marshall, Jared Hudson. And then it looks
like Barry Moore, congressman from he's from South Alabama, but
he's got an announcement in August he might get in the race.
Speaker 1 (03:48):
Okay. Look, I like all those guys. Steven Barry have
been great for the show and.
Speaker 2 (03:52):
Well in addition to Steve Marshall and Jared Hudson and
maybe being more the other unknown quanity as coach coach
Bruce Pearl.
Speaker 1 (04:00):
Oh, look out, now that's not official.
Speaker 3 (04:02):
No, no, no, no, I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (04:03):
But there's a lot of people who yeah, right, I
don't know if there's just but you know, look, he
hasn't said I'm absolutely one not going to do it.
Speaker 1 (04:12):
All right, I got to ask you all the election
talk here, Paul, are you coming back in? I mean,
you've run before, You've been a state representative.
Speaker 3 (04:20):
I'm running after kids right now?
Speaker 1 (04:23):
Is that a no? Or is that a hey? You
never can say no never may be, but.
Speaker 3 (04:27):
Right now not this go around appreciating the opportunity.
Speaker 1 (04:31):
Just how about next year? Is it in the back
of your mind? Have you had the discussion?
Speaker 2 (04:35):
Look, when you serve in public office, you always say
you know, what can you do? But right now I'm
enjoying being with you and chasing kids.
Speaker 1 (04:40):
Well, I got to tell you, you answered that question like
a very polished politician. So you think I think I
think you still maybe have it in you there? All right, More,
I've got to get your thoughts on this new viral
video from the Coldplay concert. I mean, I'm sure twenty
people have sent it to you as well. This thing
blew up over it like in an hour. It's they
led with it. It was the lead store un Fox
(05:00):
and Friends this morning on the news.
Speaker 3 (05:03):
You know, once something gets out there, everybody right.
Speaker 1 (05:05):
Yeah, So we'll talk more about that. Also, the investigation
continues in Homewood with the shooting. The body cam from
the police have not been offered for the family to
see yet. And now apparently activists say that downtown Homewood's
going to become the center of increased protest unless they
show this video soon. I think they're misguided on where
(05:26):
they're protesting and why they're getting after shutting down Homeward.
It's not Homewood's decision to release this, it's Aliyah, Alabama
Law Enforcement Agency's decision to release the video. And when
you talk about not releasing things until the investigation is done,
you can say the same thing is happening with the
Epstein files right now. Although the President made a statement
(05:46):
Yesterday's instructing Pam Bondi to go ahead from the Attorney
General's office to get the grand jury's information and if
there's something credible, then let's get it going, he didn't
flat out and say release everything. No matter what he said. Look,
there's a lot of public pressure on this. So if
you got something, let's release it and get it out there.
So she's making that move in the courts today, she says. So,
(06:07):
I don't know if you saw the video somebody sent
it to you, if you've listened to the clip that's
out there at the Coldplay concert when apparently the kiss
cam came on and the CEO of a company and
his h R director are just wrapped up in each
other and apparently Chris Martin, the lead singer at Coldplay,
calls him out and says, maybe they're having an affair,
(06:28):
and then the guy is married, and now it's gone
viral and oops, here's how it went down.
Speaker 3 (06:33):
Listen, either having an affair, well this great.
Speaker 1 (06:41):
Shun having an affair, or either the very shy have
you seen the video where they.
Speaker 3 (06:48):
Could you not see the video? Was the president yesterday?
Speaker 1 (06:53):
I'm telling you this went viral faster than Bill Clinton
and Nica Lewinsky. I mean, this is so yeah, he's married,
she I hear, she's not. And I had they just
you know, kind of gave each other a peck on
the cheek, this thing would have never left and they'd
have moved the camera to somebody else. But all of
a sudden, the reaction, I mean, everybody that saw it
was like, oh, it's clearly they've been busted.
Speaker 3 (07:15):
You know.
Speaker 2 (07:15):
It's amazing what goes viral in the year twenty twenty
five and what even going the whole going viral thing,
how things? Yeah, never before all of a sudden this
happens that I kind.
Speaker 1 (07:27):
Of I want to follow up on this whole thing.
Speaker 3 (07:29):
I'm sure, I'm sure there will be.
Speaker 1 (07:33):
The miss is going away. Well, his wife took all
of her social media down because I mean, well, there's so.
Speaker 2 (07:39):
Many people that start getting involved with people.
Speaker 1 (07:40):
Sure, sure, I wonder if the closet full of its
clothes was on the front yard after he got back
from the concert.
Speaker 3 (07:47):
It's a bad situation, or maybe they you know what.
Speaker 1 (07:49):
Maybe they've been separated for a while and you know,
it's already known bad situation regardless, exactly, all right, speaking
of potentially a bad situation over in Homewood, the bodycam
from the shooting that took place at the soccer field
what June twenty third has not been released by Aliyah.
Homewood Police Department does not have it. They gave the
(08:11):
investigation to Aliyah, and they said, look, we're doing an investigation.
When we're done, we may or may not release it
even to the family. And we were talking about this
before and a good point was brought up in that,
you know a lot of people are screaming, well, at
least let the family see it. Well, there was a
case at one time where the family saw the video
(08:32):
and the father of the victim immediately leaves and goes
out and kills the first was it first white cop
or black cop or whatever first copy could find. He
kills him because of what he saw in the video.
So the reaction after that, it is an emotional thing,
obviously for the family. You know, until all deduction in
(08:53):
a row, Elia says we're not doing it and state
law gives him that liberty.
Speaker 2 (08:58):
And clearly, once they're done with their investigation, it will
be turned over to the district attorney, who who the
distre attorney here in Jeffers County said he's going to
show it to the family. They've got to complete all
the investigation, and clearly there's more to the story that
has been released, and they're conducting tests, including ballistic tests
and forensic test and so that is important and It's
(09:21):
important because people complain about investigations, don't you want to
make sure you have the best investigation. It's not about speed,
it's about accuracy, so that nobody can come back and
criticize that the investigation was rushed or they didn't get
the result they wanted to get.
Speaker 3 (09:36):
Well.
Speaker 1 (09:36):
I talked to somebody inside the ropes over in the
homewood you know, I guess political community, administration community, and said, look,
there will be more to come about this gun specifically,
And I said, what is it? And they said, I
can't you know. This investigation is going on, but there
will be more to come out on this, so let's
(09:58):
wait until the investigations. I mean statements like this from
Wayne T. Harris, who is the director of communications for
Black Lives Matter Birmingham. By the way, Black Lives Matter.
Are these people not aware that this was a sham
organization that these two people had started, were doing it
for nothing but money. And I mean it's it's been
proven fact, it's out there that they're not right.
Speaker 2 (10:19):
And they're asking for the name of the officer. Why
do they want the name of the officer so they
can attack him and his family.
Speaker 1 (10:24):
So they can docks some problem.
Speaker 3 (10:25):
I want people to.
Speaker 2 (10:26):
Think about this police officer as well, who was put
in this situation because the individual had a gun. And
think about this police officer and his situation, his family,
and the threats he's made, and keep that family in
your prayers as well for this police officer. And I
haven't heard enough about that. I've not heard enough about that,
and this police officer and the threats that have been
made against this police officer and Homewood police officers.
Speaker 3 (10:48):
Well, and that's the other part of the equation.
Speaker 1 (10:50):
And now they're saying they want to shut down Homeward
where they're got a protest and go into businesses and
you know, cause problems in the streets.
Speaker 2 (10:56):
And I mean people need to hear that about Black
Lives Matter. They want to come in and hurt small
business owners in Homewood. So and anybody that is supporting
that and supporting Black lives matter is what they want
to do to Homewood is just disgraceful, is absolutely disgracing.
Every one of these folks running for city council when
Homewood need to step up and publicly criticize and denounced
(11:20):
Black Lives Matter. That's what I want to hear is
from candidates in Homewood denouncing Black Lives Matter? Will they
have the guts encouraged to do that?
Speaker 1 (11:28):
All right, Paul, good to see you, buddy, Having a
good weekend, buddy,
