Speaker 1 (00:00):
Paul DeMarco in the studio with us. Here is so

(00:02):
we get ready for in just fifteen minutes. And I
know your kids are anxiously awaiting Paul. Everywhere I go,
people will say, don't skip the secret sound. Mackenzie is
awesome with their secret sounds. And look, she's already got
it pulled up there that looks like a heartbeat or
something on a graph here. I don't know what she's got.

Speaker 2 (00:18):
This entrepreneur is saying, McKenzie's podcast Secret Sound. Hey, there
you go, and it's just going to be an hour
of secret sounds and you have to guess that it
didn't take the rest of your life.

Speaker 1 (00:27):
But I think you're under it. The title, Yeah, I'm
not sure she plays, you know, thirty minutes worth of
secret sounds on a podcast, but I like the title.
Every day it look don't be afraid to talking to
the microphone.

Speaker 2 (00:37):
There you go.

Speaker 1 (00:40):
All right, we're not doing it yet. I did want
to talk to you, Paul as you join us every
Friday morning. Mackenzie and I had this discussion. Yesterday we
executed a murderer here in Alabama and the family members,
which is I would say not common but not unusual
for them to say, look, we don't we're not death
penalty family. We don't believe in the death penalty. We

(01:03):
would prefer he go to prison for the rest of
his life. Please, we don't want the state to execute
this man. And they pleaded with the governor on this,
and we carried out the execution. Now, Mackenzie and I
talked about it, where, you know, I understan I get
both sides of it, but I kind of land on
the crime was committed against that family obviously in killing

(01:25):
these people, was it two people or one person? One person?
But it was also a crime against the state, you know.
And I finally landed on it. If if the law
of the land is what it is. And you can
get scripture on both sides of this as well, because
anytime something comes up and you can get ten opinions
from really smart people, but the bottom line is what's

(01:46):
God's opinion on this? So eye for an eye You
can go to that Old Testament scripture if you want to.
There's also a scripture about this is God's judgment, you know,
But there's also a scripture about law of the land.
Follow the law of the land. So I fall on
the on the side of I'm good with the state

(02:06):
carrying this out.

Speaker 2 (02:07):
Well, I mean you still said it. I mean, we
have a criminal justice system that's based on the laws,
and the laws in the state of Alabama allow for
capital punishment. If the citizens don't want it, they could
go to their state lawmakers and say, we don't want
to have capital punishment like other states have, but we
have it. And when it's in, when a jury comes
back and finds someone guilty, and then ultimately there's a

(02:29):
recommendation for the death penalty, the state has to carry
that out.

Speaker 1 (02:33):
Yeah. I he apologized at the end of it all,
you know, before he was executed, you know. And then
you see forgiveness with Erica Kirk with a shooter that
killed Charlie, one of the most heartfelt, you know, forgiveness
statements about where their life stood and the foundation and

(02:55):
the relationship with Christ. But that forgiveness doesn't remove consequence.

Speaker 2 (02:59):
But that doesn't mean that the state of Utah or
the federal government shouldn't seek the death penalty for the
individual that assassinated him. And they should I agree, And
you know, Kenley, the other prize, the other part of it,
we have victims have told our parole bo or do
not release someone, and they're either not getting notified or
they're releasing them anyway. So it's the opposite problem in

(03:19):
Alabama when we're having sentence has not carried out because
we don't have truth in sentencing. And it's a real
failure in Alabama. And then you look at the number
of folks who are committing crimes over and over, you know,
and Montgomery there were five murders, five killings in Montgomery
last weekend. Look, the President just sent troops to Memphis.

(03:41):
Could you tell me why you wouldn't send troops to
Montgomery or Birmingham.

Speaker 1 (03:45):
I mean, ask the.

Speaker 2 (03:46):
Family of the poor adyteriald woman who was shot and
killed if they would not have wanted troops on the
street before that happened.

Speaker 1 (03:53):
Well, and guess what everywhere he's been so far, things
have gotten better, things up.

Speaker 2 (03:58):
I guess the number one priority for public is public safety.
If you if you can't do good public safety, you're
you're you're failing as a government.

Speaker 1 (04:05):
Yeah, I don't I don't get the pushback on law enforcement,
you know, keeping things safer. I just don't get the
left on this ice is terrible defund the police. Why
you like crime?

Speaker 2 (04:15):
I mean the hypocrisy of these folks.

Speaker 1 (04:17):
I don't get it.

Speaker 2 (04:18):
If they need something's going to call police officer.

Speaker 1 (04:20):
Right, one hundred percent they would in two seconds. Oh well,
we'll send a social workover. We'll be right over there
to try and you know, comfort and talk this down. Well,
he's a drunk, crazy man with a gun. He's got
my kids. Look, we'll send in a social worker. We
can probably what No, bring the brigade. All right, let's
talk about these elections that just took place around our area.

(04:40):
A lot of municipalities had run off elections. Uh, Hoover, Homewood.
Chris Lane won there, and we have Ashley Lovell and
Jean Smith winning council seats in Hoover. Let's talk about Homewood.
You live in home with There was a lot of
discussion about Chris uh and the gentleman he ran against Manzelli. Yeah,
Manzelli who in the first election that forced the runoff,

(05:04):
Manzelli was actually ahead of Chris. But then Chris came
back and won the runoff.

Speaker 2 (05:08):
When someone did some research and could not find such
a turnaround because in the original one that was in
the lead. He had six hundred and fifty nine votes
and Chris Lane had four sixty six. But in the
runoff on Tuesday night, Chris Lane had seven hundred and
thirty nine or seven and forty nine votes and his
opponent had six hundred and eighty eight. To have that
kind of turnaround, and the turnout was higher both in

(05:29):
Hoover and Homewood usually for US a runoff special election.
Oh yeah, no, one's showing up. And in Homewood it
was part of it was a public safety issue that
they felt that Chris Lane, they had confidence that he
was going to make that an issue and it turned
a lot of folks out, which turned out higher voter

(05:50):
turnout for a runoff election.

Speaker 1 (05:52):
Yeah, my daughter lives in Homewood and you live in Homewood,
and I understand there was a lot of you know,
female power. It kind of Will jumped out and supported
Chris for the safety issue. What was the deal there?

Speaker 2 (06:05):
Will? There were a lot of mothers who had complained
about some of the issues and they it was terrible.
Got shamed own social media for saying, well did this
homeless person talk to your child? I mean it was
just like, are you really questioning these mothers, and so
they came out in force. I mean, Chris Lane really
can say all these mothers put him in office because
they were like, don't shame a mother who is concerned

(06:27):
about the safety of her child.

Speaker 1 (06:30):
Yeah, yeah, And I saw you saw too, this crazy
guy walking up and down the street exposing himself and
cops finally got him, but he'd been out there before
and it's like, why is he still out there if.

Speaker 2 (06:40):
This is going and mothers were being shamed for being
concerned about that.

Speaker 1 (06:44):
Yeah, well, I think the right people won and no
pun intended, but question, you know, and we know the story.
In Hoover, Ashley Lovell was up against a super socialist
Liz Lane, who basically says AOC is her mentor that's
all I needed here.

Speaker 2 (07:00):
By the turnout Hoover was tremendous, like for a runoff,
I mean incredible the number of people that came out.
So that's a good sign that people are coming out
and voting, all right,
