Speaker 1 (00:00):
Roy NEILR corresponding, joining us now is get an update
on what's happening with the release of the hostages and
God's moving forward in the agreement that's been Roy, welcome in,
thanks for being here. I mean, we got the live people,
have been released the hostages. Now it's bringing the dead
people home for burials, and all of a sudden it's like, well,
wait a minute, why do we only have seven? And
now it's like, well, they can't find them. What's going
(00:22):
on here?
Speaker 2 (00:23):
Yeah, that's what Hamas is saying, is that there are
still nineteen of the bodies that have not been returned.
Hamas says, look, we've given you all we have. That
the other bodies are buried in places we can't reach.
We need specialized equipment. Maybe their bodies are under rubble
that we can't get access to, or perhaps near unexploded ordinances.
That's another claim. So the US and Israel are trying
(00:45):
to work something out right now to again sort to
take a deep breath and optimistically hoping that Hamas isn't
intentionally holding out here and try to move this process along.
There were some realizations that this wasn't going to be
cut and dry right. They knew that going in that
this wasn't going to be absolutely easy, But I think
there's a lot of disappointment that the numbers are this low.
Speaker 1 (01:06):
Yeah, Hamas is not one to story a dead body
like you would do in a medical examiner's office or
the coroner's office, you know there, you know, And I
don't trust them as far as you can throw them.
I don't believe what they're saying that, Okay, it could
be under row. I think that they've destroyed bodies, were
inhumane to bodies, and you know, burned them. I have
(01:28):
the worst picture in my mind about what Hamas has
done with these people, and they're just kind of trying
to sugarcoat the best they can that they're never going
to get these bodies returned to these families, which is
just awful and disgusting and just reminds me of how
bad terrorism is and what these people are really about
at the core of their being. So it's just disgusting here.
So all right, moving forward, I know there's a lot
(01:49):
of moving parts. Who's going to rule and govern Gaza,
how's it going to be rebuilt? The other countries in
the region there, more and more seem to be coming
on board with the United States and Israel as far
as okay, you know, we need to get something figured
out with Gaza in a positive direction and kind of
and this fighting. So any update in that arena.
Speaker 2 (02:08):
Yeah, Well, one of the concerns now is you've probably
seen the horrific videos online about it. It's like gangs
of Hamas members going through streets of Gaza, rounding up
people who may have either turned them in or may
have been trying to side with the you know, peace
movements there. They're just being rounded up and assassinated and
getting some sort of law enforcement in. There's some sort
(02:28):
of law and order. President Trump from the Oval Office
yesterday said, you know, he's still confident Hamas will disarm.
He said, you know, if not, we'll make them disarmed. Now,
when he says we, he does not mean American boots
on the crown. That's not an option. But he is
saying that with our partners there, Israel and some of
the other countries that were involved in the peace ceremonies
this week, he is confident Hamas will be disarmed.
Speaker 1 (02:52):
All right, good good news there, all right. Switching gears
holiday spending buyer's remorse. Now, it's not even Halloween yet,
but people are already seem to be stressing out about
holiday shopping and lots of returns these days. My wife
is the master at buying three different outfits in returning
with them with a full intent of returning two of them.
She goes, I said, well, you needed three, She goes, no, no, no,
(03:13):
I got to get them home, I got to wear them,
I got to take a look at it. And she's
a master's shopper and returner. But so what's going on
with the holidays.
Speaker 2 (03:20):
Yeah, that can be very wasteful, you know, depending on
the company. Sometimes they don't really process the return. They
just take the item back and then sell it in
bulk with other return items to be resold by, you know,
some third party in a warehouse. So that I was
surprised when the National Retail Federation said nearly sixteen percent
(03:40):
of all items sold are actually returned. Sixteen percent. That's
about eight hundred and fifty billion dollars worth of merchandise returned.
So they're trying to minimize that going into this holiday
season because that's a significant expense.
Speaker 1 (03:55):
A lot of times though, when you buy online, you
really you know, it looks great on the mob it
looks really good in the picture here sitting on the
countertop or whatever you're buying looks fantastic. And again it's like,
are you kidding me? I mean a lot of times
they're misrepresenting, if you will, in their marketing, what you're
really going to get. It's not like you go in
the store and just pick it up and hold it
and touch it and feel it and try it on.
(04:16):
So I figured sixteen percent with a low number I
thought it'd be.
Speaker 2 (04:20):
Yeah, I thought it was like five percent. But I
guess I'm also thinking, you know, classic retailer, if I
went to the mall, bought the item, didn't like it,
brought it back kind of a thing. Whereas, as you said,
if you get to that system of quickly shipping and
returning things and you can get it down path the
stuff I buy them, it's not worth the price of shipping.
But those shipping, those return policies, by the way, are
(04:41):
also a big contributor in what you'd buy. I bet
your wife wouldn't buy it if she was charged a
lot for the return. No.
Speaker 1 (04:47):
See, they will email you a return label and you
take it over to a cools or wherever Amazon has
their drop of spots and done cost of dime. Here's
my You know, I don't put this on the buyer.
I put this on the marketing departments that are put
this stuff out there. That's a misrepresentation. It's not the
buyer's fault. I mean, look, you didn't send me what
this looks like. You know it's not the real deal here.
(05:08):
So and Roy, I think you got to step up
your Amazon shopping game. Apparently you don't do a lot
of it, because I guarantee you you'd be over twenty
percent on the return. I know the kind of guy
you are.
Speaker 2 (05:18):
Yeah, you know I'm in radio, right, I mean yeah,
getting Prime was a big deal. Let alone.
Speaker 1 (05:25):
Oh hold on, let me get my violin out for
Roy And all right, brother, I appreciate you. Thanks, we'll
chat with you tomorrow.
