Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is John Mount sitting in for JT. And yesterday
the White House physician Kevin O'Connor. He was on the
hot seat and Kevin when asked him very pointing questions
about the President's health, he had this to say, on.

Speaker 2 (00:14):
The advice of counsel, I must respectfully declined to answer
in your alliance on fifth am I right under the
fifth Amendment of the Constitution. I'm not a lawyer, and
I must follow my lawyer's advice in this matter.

Speaker 1 (00:25):
So on that we found out that the White House
doctor both he claimed his privilege as a doctor and
he also claimed the fifth Joining us now to talk
about this more is Ryan Schmells. And Ryan, was that
pretty much all we learned yesterday?

Speaker 3 (00:40):
That is pretty much was it. I've been joking John,
It's like coming on to these shows and I'm like, well,
he pluged the fifth and he was out of building
within and now they're like, Okay, well thanks Ryan, good report.
But I mean, you know, there's a little bit more
context to it, obviously. He Leading up to this, the
doctor had and his lawyers have been trying to get
this move back to late July or early August. They

(01:02):
had argued patient doctor protections and privilege, and the House
Services Commity Burner said, no, you've got to come here,
and this is the President of the United States. Is
the national security matter? In some cases we need answers.
So he shows up, he pleads the fifth, and he's
out of there pretty quickly.

Speaker 1 (01:21):
And that's the thing, of course, because you're right, there
is the doctor patient relationship, and it's supposed to be
something that's between you know, the hippa and all that
kind of stuff. It's between the doctor and the patient.
But on the other hand, this particular patient is the
leader of the free world, and so to a degree,
I feel like we kind of have a right to
know his you know, his ability to serve. And at

(01:42):
this point, I guess it's a moot point because he's
not the president anymore. But I guess historically we want
to know just how bad off was it, Like, for example,
we've had presidents in the past that we find out
that their wife was running the country for the last
year a couple of years of their turn.

Speaker 3 (01:56):
Yea, And I think that's really the one of the
big things. They're trying to find out how extensive was
a well, was there a cover up a and how
extensive was that cover up? You know, who was involved,
who knew about it, And so I think those are
kind of the questions some people are asking. There's others
who want to flat out find out if these auto
pen signatures were were legitimate and if President Biden never,

(02:20):
you know, unwillingly knew of the document being signed. So
there's a lot of things, I think, and I think
a lot of different people have different ideas about what
they want out of this investigation and what can be
achieved through this investigation. So you know, you know, keep
in mind, this is not the only witness, and you
don't rule out the possibility of him still testifying at

(02:42):
some point. You know, they could work out a day
in late July early August for him to come in.
But you know, near a tandent, a former by ned
she sat for several hours with the committee a couple
of weeks ago, and there's many more former Bid administration
officials who are set to meet with the committee at
some point.

Speaker 1 (02:59):
And I think a lot of what we're hearing out
of this is a lot of these people who are saying,
who are close to Biden said, well, we didn't know
it at the time, it was a retrospective thing looking
back on it now that I think about that sort
of stuff, as opposed to at the time, we were
actively covering it up. And even if they were, they're
probably not going to admit to it.

Speaker 3 (03:14):
Well, and we don't know who was left in the
dark and who was you know, very very vigilant and
looped in on all this. You know, there's a lot
of things that have been revealed through different reports and
different writings that in many cases this was ei there
was an inner circle that was just trying to keep
a lot of this from getting out to the public.

(03:36):
Now how deep they were trying to keep it from
getting out or how deep the support for that was,
you know, I think that's kind of what they're trying
to find out here.

Speaker 1 (03:47):
Ryan. Is it within the purview of the of Congress
to be able to call the president the former president himself?
Could they actually cause called Joe Biden to testify before
the committee?

Speaker 3 (03:57):
I think it's a possibility. I haven't heard any indication
that they plan on doing that as of right now.
I believe Chairman Comber has said that depending on what
they find out with this first round of witnesses, doctor
Jill Biden could be on the dock at at some point,
but it doesn't look like that there's any plans to
do that as of right now.

Speaker 1 (04:16):
Anytime I say doctor Jill Biden, I have to do
the fingers, the air quotes, and the the doctor Jill
Biden because she is a PhD. Let let's be clear.
In spite of what who was it it was on
the wasn't on the view? Was it Joy Behar who
made the comment about Joe Biden in her her medical experience?
I forget who it was he was talking about.

Speaker 3 (04:36):
Jo No, that was like, well, well, I remember when
she first became first Lady or is when Biden got
the nomination, there was somebody who it was like it
was like an op ed, like someone wrote an op ed,
you know, kind of saying that that it's like an
insult to the medical community that she uses the word
doctor in her title, even though like a lot of

(04:56):
people who don't are in the medical community to do it,
and you know, it set off an absolute frenzy on
social media and other places, so a lot of people
got upset by that back in the day.

Speaker 1 (05:10):
I'm slightly upset by it myself, right Bells, Thank you
