Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is John Mounts filling in for JT and former
CIA director John Brennan says he's clueless. He has no
idea why the FBI is investigating him, and so to
clue him in and clue us in, Ryan Schmell's Live
from DC. So, why are they looking into John Brennan?

Speaker 2 (00:17):
Right, So, Sourts. They're telling Fox News that CIA director
John Ratcliffe has referred John Brennan as well as James
Comy for criminal investigation to the FBI. Now, a lot
of this is for potential wrongdoing related to the Trump
Russia probe, including allegedly making false statements to Congress. Now,

(00:39):
we don't really have too much information outside of that,
and like the specifics of all that, and so I mean, look,
John rack Brennan but doesn't have too much information on this,
just like we don't have too much information on this.
But you know, he was heavily involved in that investigation.
And there was a recent declassification effort from the CIA
where they found new more flaws or at least the

(01:01):
legend laws and the investigation.

Speaker 1 (01:03):
Was John Brennan. One of the people who absolutely swore
the Steele dossier was it was a legit thing and
everything in there about the hooker's peeing on the bed,
all that was completely legitimate.

Speaker 2 (01:12):
I don't know how extensive his his you know swearing
too that.

Speaker 3 (01:16):
Was, but he was definitely somebody involved with it for sure,
because there's an awful lot of things that went into
that that that was nothing more than oppo research that
was then weaponized against Donald Trump during a political season.

Speaker 1 (01:29):
And the fact that we have people in the government
taking a position on this thing and and basically putting
putting their finger on the scale of justice and changing
trying to change what is the reality presented to the
electric it it borders on election tampering.

Speaker 2 (01:44):
Well, and Steele Dasia was something that was very much
embraced by certain you know people within within Democrat circles.
There was a numerous different discredit discreditations of it that
that went down not long after that or in coming
years then. So I think we have to see what
the what ultimately the FBI decides to do with this,

(02:05):
if they actually decide to pursue criminal prosecution, I think
there's maybe questions about uh statute of limitations is already
up you or if there's even a way to actually
prosecute something like this. And I think also keep in
mind too, yes, well, well Republicans and the frontministration might
not like what happened with this this investigation in the past.

(02:26):
You know, they could also say to themselves, well, hey,
look we're we got we got elected to to rat
out the h the the politicization of the federal government
the way that it was against President Trump. Maybe we
shouldn't do that to other people. H or at least,
you know, pursue something that could get us that that accusation.

Speaker 1 (02:45):
Depending on what the FBI discovers, because they're investigating. After
an investigation usually becomes a recommendation, then refer this over
what to the Attorney General, who's the one who would
actually go go after and prosecutorially if the FBI finds
wrong doing.

Speaker 2 (03:01):
I think it ultimately probably be the decision by the
Department of Justice in the end. You know, they can
all work hand in hand. But as far as our
understanding is from sources that it has been referred to
the FBI for criminal investigation, and I guess they can
then I think there's a number of routes they can

(03:21):
take from there. But I think you just said probably
they would refer to these turner general after that, and
she decided she wanted to actually try to press charges.

Speaker 1 (03:28):
And then we'll see. And that's when I guess the
real firework starts. Or if they find nothing, who knows
they might find nothing, then we can at least say,
oh God, with investigated. I can sleep better knowing the
FBI was hard at work making sure there's no problem anymore.
