Speaker 1 (00:00):
Talking about the future of Gaza. Ryan Smells, our Fox
correspondent in DC, joining us now for the latest on this.
So what came out of these meetings? Anything good? Moving
in the right direction.
Speaker 2 (00:10):
Yeah, I think we're still trying to figure that out.
You know, this is definitely a hyper heightened sense of urgency.
Now you had some recent attacks that have you know,
resulted in civilian casualties and Gaza recently. Obviously there's been
an ongoing food crisis there, and so you know, President
Trump was bringing in Tony Blair as well as Jared
Kushner and Steve Whitcoff. But in terms of any readouts
(00:32):
so far, we don't know that yet. We know if
the White House has prioritized ending this war and negotiating peace,
but if we're any closer a deal or not, it
didn't seem like we don't know that.
Speaker 1 (00:42):
Well, there's certainly still fighting going on as missiles are
being launched, these reels on the attack. You know, they
have not released any more of the hostages. It seems
like all of this discussion going on, I mean, nothing's
really changed from the day to day operations of Yeah,
we still hate you. No, you're not getting the hostages,
yet yeah, here comes another missile.
Speaker 2 (01:02):
Yeah. I mean, it's a conflict. It's been going on
for decades now, and it seems like it's still only
getting worse. And you know, ever since October seventh, it's
been a full frontal war. There was a brief ceasefire
when President Trump took office, but that is no longer
active as we as we have seen. So it's a
bloody conflict. It's been ongoing and it's been Yes, the
(01:23):
hostages and getting them home is still the United States priority,
but I don't know if we've made any progress on
that as right now.
Speaker 1 (01:29):
And I got to tell you, the left media is
just all over Israel. Oh they're just killing children right
and left. They're starving them and it's just unbelievable. They're
attacking hospitals, and it's one thing after another. You know,
they're very strategic, those crazy you know, terrorists, by putting
all of their people around civilian activities, churches and schools
(01:50):
and hospitals. So if you're going to attack us, guess
who You're going to kill? Two innocent people. And then
the left runs with that and it's all net and
Yahoo's fault. Trump's feeding the beast on this after these talks,
is it? What's in dext as far as the plan goes.
You mentioned the Woodcoff and the crew net and Yahoo,
anybody from Hamas jumping in saying all right, come on,
(02:12):
let's go, we got to get back talking about ending
this thing.
Speaker 2 (02:16):
Yeah, I'm not quite sure. I believe that the president
that Yah who talk every once in a while, and
that's not shocking. But in terms of any type of
negotiations or talks with Hamas, I don't know if there's
anything officially planned for that. We do know that Marco
Rubio also spoke with the Foreign Minister of Israel, and
the foreign Minister pretty much shot down in the idea
(02:38):
of a two state solution or at least recognizing the Palestinian state,
which is what some European countries are becoming more open
to doing. But it doesn't seem like Israel necessarily interested
in that.
Speaker 1 (02:49):
All right, real quick, Ryan, before I let you go.
Being a guy who lives in DC, walks around all
the time, you see what's happening with the changes in
the National Guard being there, And yesterday, I guess the
mayor came out praised the sixteen hundred Pennsylvania Avenue. Have
you noticed anything. What are people that you hang with
talking about in DC when it comes to the crime situation.
Speaker 2 (03:09):
Yeah, I mean there certainly are people who are very
happy about it. You know, where I live in Navy Yard,
we've definitely seen some improvements there. We have this these
these I guess you'd call mobs of teenagers that would
run around our area and pretty much shake people down.
We haven't seen them in a while now, and so
that that's one thing to keep in mind. You know,
certainly it's a divisive topic because you know, people who
(03:33):
are left leaning here think that it's you know, completely
unnecessary and think it's too far, whereas people who might
lean a little more to the right are very excited
about the federal takeover. But yeah, I think you brought
a good point. The one thing that's interesting is well,
of course, the media focuses a lot on the disagreements
President Trump and Mayor Bowser have compared to some of
(03:54):
these other blue cities across the country, and the mayor's there,
I think her and President Trump have a better relationship
and work together a lot better than you know, some
of those other cities. And for the most part, Bowser
has been pretty cooperative with this federal takeover. She might
not agree with it, but you know, she hasn't really
given the trum administration significant pushback on it.
Speaker 1 (04:16):
Well, it's certainly something you can't argue with when the
numbers show it's helping and it's cleaning up the city
and residents are thanking them for coming in here. And
yesterday's press conference, you know, speaking to your very point that, yeah,
she kind of you know, feels a little bit better
about Trump than most of these people in lib cities.
Speaker 3 (04:31):
For carjackings, the difference between this period, this twenty day
period of this federal surge and last year represents a
eighty seven percent reduction in carjackings in Washington, d C.
Speaker 1 (04:48):
Well, see, there you go. So yeah, Ryan Smells, thanks
for the update, Buddy. I appreciates
