Speaker 1 (00:00):
Put me in, coach. I want to play. Ryan smelts
Our Fox Corts found in DC. Now, today's the annual
tradition of the Congressional Baseball Game.

Speaker 2 (00:07):
Ryan, welcome in, Thanks for being here.

Speaker 3 (00:10):
Let's go on.

Speaker 1 (00:11):
Everything's good. So are you there at the field? You
get ready as the place all a buzz with the
game today. I mean, this is a pretty big, you know,
situation here. And you know, obviously, when I think back
about what took place with Steve Scalise and all of
the activities going on around that, you can't help but think,
you know, security is probably going to be pretty big here.

Speaker 3 (00:33):
Yeah, and security has been big a couple of years now.
Last year it was there as seems that we had
a couple of Palace pro Palacetitian protesters show up and
one of them even rushed the field and got decked
almost immediately. I mean, like you have situations like that
that have people on Hiler too. I mean, the protesters
have been pretty intense for the last couple of years. None,
I don't think violent, you know, I mean, we don't

(00:55):
know what this person was trying to do when they
rushed the field. I mean, of course they got tackled
fairly quickly, so, but yes, everyone's always on highlert because
of that situation with Steve Scalise.

Speaker 1 (01:05):
All right, well, this is a fun event for sure,
and guys aren't the only ones playing.

Speaker 2 (01:10):
Is there a female congresswoman that I saw us playing
in the game.

Speaker 3 (01:14):
There's a number of females that are playing in the game. Yes,
So one of them is actually coaching for the dem
side the Republican side. It's Roger Williams from Texas, who's
actually a car salesman as well, So yeah, it's co ed.

Speaker 1 (01:26):
All right, let's talk about who's won the most games
in all of this. I guess the Republicans are on
a winning streak right now.

Speaker 3 (01:33):
So actually, what's funny is that they were tied up
until about four years ago. Republicans have a four game lead,
and they also have a four game win streak. So
Republicans broke the tie and they haven't lost since then.

Speaker 1 (01:44):
All right, do we know anything about the starting pitchers
for both teams here?

Speaker 3 (01:49):
I believe Pete Aguilar is the starting pitcher for the Democrats,
who's actually the conference chair. He was the catcher last year.
I don't know their starting pictures for the Republicans. But
I the star player for the Republicans is probably going
to be August Slugger, who was a Air Force Academy
graduate played played at the Air Force Academy college baseball.

(02:09):
There's another one, Yeah, another one to watch would be
Blake Moore, but I don't think he's going to be playing.
But he is somebody who is a you know, he's
a former college football player who played at Utah State.
Actually played with my football coach there.

Speaker 2 (02:24):
You know.

Speaker 3 (02:25):
Uh wow, So he's probably someone to watch, but I
don't think he's going to be playing because of an injury.

Speaker 2 (02:29):
So where are the odds makers on this game?

Speaker 1 (02:31):
Are there more athletes like you've described on the Democratic
team or the Republican team?

Speaker 2 (02:36):
And where do most people see this game ending?

Speaker 3 (02:39):
I look, Republicans have won four years in a row.
The roster has been fairly similar to those last four years,
so I think that Republicans still have the advantage with
this one. I think that's where the betting odds are.
And just by the SoundBite here on Capitol Hill, it
seems like the Democrats are uh you know, hoping for
the best, preparing for the worst.

Speaker 2 (02:57):
So in the stadium.

Speaker 1 (02:58):
Do they bring out to all kinds of fun and
activities for the fans to enjoy as well as just
the game.

Speaker 3 (03:05):
I mean, you got the mascots and everything, and of course,
like people are socializing. Some aren't even paying attention to
the game, and it's a typical baseball game, but there's
a lot of people there. I think the one thing
you do notice, though, is very quickly you'll realize that
you'll start appreciating professional athletes. Let's just put it that way,
because you don't really realize how good these MLB players

(03:26):
are until you watch other people, you know, normal people
trying to play baseball. Yeah, that's probably one of the
first things you'll start to notice.

Speaker 1 (03:34):
Well, I remember they used to do, and I think
they may still do something called Dream Week with all
the major league teams that you can, as you know,
a fan, go down to Florida or Arizona and sign
up and play baseball for a week with some of
the old veterans, and you go down thinking, yeah, I
still got this. I can swing the bat, I can throw,
I can pitch, I can catch. Yeah, there's no big deal.

(03:54):
And everybody goes in first day like, oh, this is
so much fun. Let's go by second day. Ninety five
percent of the people that have signed up for this
are in the trainer's room getting taped up with sore
muscles and ankles and everything. Yeah, you're right, is a
big difference from backyard ball to the major leagues. But
some of these guys, I think, you know, have shown
that they can actually get out there and make things happen.

(04:15):
So how many innings are we playing tonight?

Speaker 3 (04:18):
I believe it's only seven.

Speaker 2 (04:19):
Oh, that's plenty, I would think, right, Yeah, ben.

Speaker 3 (04:23):
As we had a mercy rule. Last year, Republicans put
up thirty points or thirty runs, I should say, yeah,
Democrats had eleven, and I mean that was a marathon
of the game. So yeah, we'll see. We'll see if
if that ever gets established down the road. But as
of right now, they don't have one.

Speaker 1 (04:38):
You know, that's not a bad idea. I know they've
got it in little lea right or T ball if
you get up by ten runs.

Speaker 3 (04:43):
They have they actually have it. They have it in
the Olympics for I know, at least women's softball they do.
I mean because back when Jenny Finch was the pitcher
for the United States women's team. I remember they want
a number of games by mercy rule, which is is awesome.

Speaker 2 (04:59):
Yeah, who's singing the national anthem tonight? Do we know?

Speaker 3 (05:02):
I do not know?

Speaker 2 (05:03):
Oky, good question, are you going?

Speaker 1 (05:05):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (05:05):
And actually have some updates on numbers here, So let's
see here. A record two point seven to five plus
million rates for charity, a record thirty thousand plus tickets sold,
forty five local charity, supported, over one hundred sponsors, and
four college scholarships so far.

Speaker 2 (05:23):
Wow, that's pretty awesome. It's really good. I'm glad to
got that, not that at all.

Speaker 1 (05:28):
Heck, yeah, well the game can be seen tonight Fox Sports.
Won What time does the first pitch take place? Seven?

Speaker 3 (05:34):
I believe I believed around seven. Yes, Chad Program and
Kevin Cork will be on the call. So you got
some great Fox News talent right there. And you can
just see how versatile these guys are with their ability
to do sports and talk politics.

Speaker 2 (05:47):
Yeah, it'll be fun, no doubt about that.

Speaker 1 (05:49):
Seven o'clock Eastern time, six o'clock Central time, Fox Sports
one Congressional baseball game tonight
