Speaker 1 (00:00):
Senator Turberville joins us now to talk a little bit
about his race for the governorship and also who may
replace him, and some other items on our agenda to
go over as well. Thank you so much for being here, Coach.
I appreciate you.
Speaker 2 (00:11):
Thank you, JT.
Speaker 3 (00:12):
And everybody needs to understand this too.
Speaker 2 (00:14):
I've got a.
Speaker 3 (00:14):
Year and a half with President Trump, and as I
told him when I told him I was going to
run for governor as president, I'm at your side, and
when I leave and become governor of Alabama, I want
your agenda being full force and going north and hoping
everything's going positive. So we got a lot of work
to do in that area. But I'm excited about the
(00:35):
governor run.
Speaker 2 (00:36):
JT. I really am. Well.
Speaker 1 (00:37):
I appreciate you coming on and I you know, there
was wind of it, you know, for a while, and
you came and made the big announcement in Auburn, and
I thought that was pretty cool, you know, right there
in that area of our state here. Now, why did
you make the decision to leave the US Senate and
do this.
Speaker 2 (00:56):
Well, I'm not a politician.
Speaker 3 (00:58):
I can read the writing on the Well, we're gonna
get things done in Washington, d C.
Speaker 2 (01:02):
You're one. You're a team member in Washington, d C.
You don't.
Speaker 3 (01:06):
You don't really have control of anything other than a
few things during the year. You can be very positive
for your state in a lot of ways. You got
to work with You're a fellow senator, but as governor
is your CEO and as.
Speaker 2 (01:18):
No President Trump.
Speaker 3 (01:18):
And he told me, he said, Coach, you know, I'm
sending power and the money back to the states. Probably
good time for you to go back, He said, take
advantage of it, grow your state, and exactly what we're
going to We're going to get the bureaucracy out of Yeah,
we're going to there's gonna be.
Speaker 2 (01:36):
A lot of change, and we're going to have a.
Speaker 3 (01:40):
I assistant Coach's deaf that's going to be second to none.
Speaker 1 (01:43):
Okay, next time that we started, Coach, hang on, Coach,
our lines are acting weird. Continuing our conversation with Senator
Tuberville and him running now to be our next governor.
And I would think that odds are pretty darn good
to Coach that you were going to be governor Tubberville
very very soon. Now, with that said, when we talk
about the state of Alabama, and how it's tied to
(02:04):
our FED. There's some good moves that are happening now
as far as the Space and Rocket Center and the
Space Command Center coming back. Cash matel is indicated there's
going to be a lot of FBI folks are going
to be moving to this city or the state rather.
But there's been some opposition a little bit from Congressman
Dale Strong, a little bit sounding the alarm that if
we bring all these government workers in here and keep
pushing for government workers to come to Alabama, just like academia,
(02:27):
a lot of times government workers kind of lean left
and that may change the balance of conservative and liberalism
and Democrats and Republicans in our state. Does that sound
like accuracy to you or potentially a problem?
Speaker 2 (02:42):
Well, first of all.
Speaker 3 (02:43):
That would be a problem in our state. We would
need to step up and make sure that when people
come to Alabama that they understand their values in the
things that we stand for. And I think that let's
take them in a suit call table life that we
had other than what they had, and whether it's in
Washington or California or New York, agent that goes you know,
(03:09):
we got freedom here. We can educate our kids they're
not indoctrinated. We can have a better quality of life now,
it's our responsibility to get that done. But I totally
agree with them. There's a lot of people coming in
that have that are are different, different lifestyle, So we'll
(03:30):
see what happens. But we can't quit growing this state.
Growth is how we bring it more taximity and how
we give people a better life. People and have them
deserve a better life. And we've got a good one now,
but we can be much better. And we've got to
put our nose to the grindstone and get it done
as a group.
Speaker 1 (03:49):
Right in the mids, Well, let's talk about who your
replacement might be when you do leave the Senate. There's
been a lot of names from there. Jared Hudson, former
Navy Seals in our studio yesterday he's announced that he
would like to be the next senator of the state
of Alabama. Attorney General Steve Marshall, I believe is going
to be announcing today. He'll be on the show tomorrow.
(04:10):
But others besides those who include Congressman Molbrooks, Representative Barry Moore,
former Congressional Canada Carolyne Dobson, former Secretary of State John
Merrill and Alabama Department of Veterans former Affairs Commissioner there
Kent Davis. So who do you And let's not forget
Bruce Pearl. All right, we'll talk about that in just
a second. But do you have anybody in mind that
(04:31):
you would see taking your spot? Do you endorse anybody
at this point? Will you ever endorse or are you
going to let the cards lay where you know land
where they do.
Speaker 3 (04:40):
Yeah, I'm alla let people might grow on the decision.
I think could be unfair for any other politician to
jump in on this. I'll be very concerned. Obviously, I've
talked to most of them.
Speaker 2 (04:48):
I want to hear them.
Speaker 3 (04:49):
I want to hear exactly you know, what they want
to do.
Speaker 2 (04:53):
Where they stand.
Speaker 3 (04:54):
We do not need more politicians in Washington, d C.
I wasn't didn't care to be, didn't care if I
got re elected. I was going to speak my peace
stan up for people of Alabama. And that's what I want.
I want somebody to go in there that doesn't want
to stay forever, that wants to go in there and
work and work for the people of the country in
(05:14):
the state. It's an important job. I promised President Trump
would get somebody that would be very, very workable with
his agenda, and so I'll sit down with him, but
I will listen, like everybody else, to everybody's talk. I really,
you know, I think we'll have four or five people run.
There'll be some others. But again, it's up to them
to sell it, and then it's up to them to
(05:35):
get the job done when they go in terms of
what they're telling the people they're going to do when
they get there.
Speaker 1 (05:40):
All right, the big question Bruce Pearl, I mean I
heard early a fake news he's not going to do it.
Then you know it's rearing its head again. He was
at the SEC meetings and just really not addressing it.
He didn't speak to anybody about it when he was
asked about it. Have you talked to coach Bruce Pearl
about the possibility of his interest in running for senator
(06:01):
or do you you know if so, has he said
anything to him or if so, yes, I did speak,
but we're not talking about it, or where are you
on Bruce Pearl?
Speaker 3 (06:11):
Bruce and are good friends. He comes to d C
twice a month. He's very very strong on Israel. He's Jewish,
we all know that he's stands up for the Jewish faith,
and he should. That's that's what it's all about. Uh,
he's got a six many.
Speaker 2 (06:29):
Other reasons that probably he wouldn't run for.
Speaker 3 (06:31):
And that's what it had. How much money he makes
per year, I think that he'd be good. I think
that he'd be a good politician. I don't know whether
this is his time for him to do that. He's
got plenty of time left to make that decision. He
makes for the rights for the right reasons, and just
(06:53):
you know, if there's a lot more to the to
the this time than going up in his fight for
the faith, the fight for this country in every form
and fashion, tournament on the end and standing up for
what you think about the military education and if you
do it will be good at it. I won't speak
(07:13):
for the brig's house. I'll let him make that decision
of his own because everybody has did it because it
is a job and it.
Speaker 4 (07:20):
Is time concerning and then does a very hard job.
And so ill with President Trump there for being on
the Democratic president and the future and it gets.
Speaker 1 (07:31):
Again, well, coach, I appreciate you coming on this morning,
and good luck and I look forward to you being
our next governor as well. And in the meantime, yeah,
lots of work still to be done as a senator,
and I know you're working hard and moving in the
right direction.
Speaker 2 (07:46):
For us here.
Speaker 1 (07:46):
So thank you, sir. We'll have you back soon, I promised.
Speaker 2 (07:49):
Thanks again, Coach, big beautiful bill jap. We got to
get it done.
Speaker 1 (07:53):
Let's get her done. Yeah, good idea, excellent. We'll talk
more about that next week. We'll try and get Coach
back in. I Paul gives for the phone connection there.
I don't know if that was our end, his end
somewhere in between. It just frustrates me, you know, when
you get a phone connection like that and can't get
that done. So we'll get we'll get him back for sure.
