Speaker 1 (00:00):
Alabama's Morning News. I'm jat and joining us now is
Vincent Martella. This guy is just amazing. He has been
doing voices since he was the age of thirteen and
he is the voice of Phineas from Phineas and Ferb
with her new season coming on Vincent's Phineas Welcome in.
I'll tell you what I'm gonna do. I'm going to
turn this over to Mackenzie, my producer, because she begged
me to do the interview because she loves the show,

(00:22):
and I said, absolutely, So, Mackenzie, meet Vincent and Phineas.

Speaker 2 (00:26):
Vincent, nice to meet you, Mackenzie.

Speaker 3 (00:28):
I know we're going to do today. We're about to
have the best interview ever.

Speaker 2 (00:33):
Oh my gosh, I'm so excited. How are you, Phineas.

Speaker 4 (00:38):
I'm great, I'm great.

Speaker 5 (00:38):
I'm doing fantastic this morning. Thanks for talking with me.
I'm glad to be here.

Speaker 2 (00:42):
Of course.

Speaker 6 (00:43):
Yeah, so I was looking back, it's been what ten
years since the last season.

Speaker 5 (00:47):
It has Yeah, we've finished our fourth season in twenty fifteen,
and now here we are in twenty twenty five bringing
you season five of the show.

Speaker 2 (00:55):
That is so exciting. So what should we expect in
the new season. What's it all about.

Speaker 5 (00:59):
Well, it takes place the following summer, I'm allowed to
tell you that, So it is now the following summer
in Danville. But it's going to feel pretty seamless, like
pretty much like nothing has changed in terms of the
tone of the show, the.

Speaker 4 (01:13):
Energy of the show, the.

Speaker 5 (01:15):
Music, everything that people loved about the first one of
the show. This was not you know, us reinventing how
the show works, and you know, for lack of a
better terminology, it's reinventing the wheel.

Speaker 4 (01:26):
We know what are awesome fans of the show like
about it, and.

Speaker 5 (01:31):
We wanted to give people more of that, and that's
what people wanted. So we're hoping that it's a lot
of very similar types of adventures that you've.

Speaker 4 (01:40):
Seen before, just in new ways that we get to
tell the stories. You know.

Speaker 2 (01:43):
Yeah, well that's so exciting.

Speaker 6 (01:45):
I was wondering, since there was, you know, that ten
year gap, if it would just pick right up where
you left it off.

Speaker 2 (01:49):
So that is so exciting. I wanted to ask you
to Now I know.

Speaker 6 (01:52):
That you're biased obviously towards Phineas, but who is your
favorite character, Like, who do you relate to the most
outside of your own.

Speaker 4 (02:00):
Who do I relate to the most.

Speaker 5 (02:02):
Yeah, obviously my favorite character is Phantas. Now I do
actually really like doctor Duvin Schmertz a lot. I like
his tragic backstories about how he talks about, you know,
when he was, when he was just a boy, and
his parents, you know, made him, his parents made him
be a law gnome in the front yard and things
like that. So I I I think I think doctor

(02:23):
Duvin Schmertz's tragedy and trauma dumping is one of my
one of my favorite bits on our show.

Speaker 2 (02:30):
That is awesome.

Speaker 6 (02:31):
Yeah, I have to say I used to annoy my
mom so much because you know, s I MP Squirrels
in my pants. I had that set as my ringtone
on my phone and I would play it over and
over and over again.

Speaker 4 (02:43):
Funny.

Speaker 5 (02:43):
I've heard a lot of people have face and for
a ring tones, but I've actually never heard Squirrells on
my pants as one of them. I hear that the
Perry of the Platypus like the Perry noise. I hear
that as a text noise a lot. I hear the
Duken Schmertz. I mean Dan Popmeyer, who plays doctor Dunch Schertz.
His ringtne for the lastast you know, ten years, has
been Dubsmercibil incorporated anytime he gets a phone call. So

(03:07):
that one's a pretty common one. But I've never I've
never met someone with scrolls in my pants as their ringtone.

Speaker 4 (03:12):
That's so funny.

Speaker 6 (03:13):
Well now you have, and I'm telling you I kind
of miss it. I'm not changing back, you know, in
lieu of the new season. So when does the new
season premiere?

Speaker 4 (03:19):
Yeah, just for one hundred and four days.

Speaker 2 (03:21):
You can do it one hundred and four days exactly.

Speaker 5 (03:23):
Yeah, the new season premiere's June fifth on Disney Channel
and then on June sixth on Disney Plus. And there
will be a couple extra episodes that we're going to
drop on June sixth as well on Disney Plus to
kind of get the ball rolling and just you know,
give everyone some of the vibes of the new season.
And then after that, I believe it'll be weekly releases

(03:44):
on Disney Channel followed by Disney Plus.

Speaker 2 (03:47):
Awesome. Well, I am so excited. I personally cannot wait.

Speaker 6 (03:50):
And I have to say our program director John, his
daughter Alex is probably one of your biggest fans. She
loves the show, so if you could just give a
quick shout out to her, that would be greatly appreciated.

Speaker 3 (04:00):
Alex, I really appreciate you loving Phineas and Ferb and
do me a favor. I'm sure you're super busy, but
if you happen to see a pet planetlist wandering around somewhere,
I had a teed planetlist.

Speaker 4 (04:12):
His name is Perry. I never know where he goes.
If you see him, let me or Ferb know.

Speaker 6 (04:17):
I love it, Thank you so much. And then I
also have someone. His name is producer Blake. He's joining
me here. You've got a lot of fans in the
studio today, so he wanted to say hello to you
for quickly as well.

Speaker 4 (04:26):
Hey, hat, producer Blake, how's it going.

Speaker 2 (04:27):
It's going well?

Speaker 7 (04:28):
How are you man?

Speaker 4 (04:29):
I'm doing fantastic.

Speaker 5 (04:30):
I'm just I'm so excited to be able to talk
about this, this great show with all of you guys.
It's meant a lot to me and a lot to
my life to get to play this character for twenty
years almost So thank you. Thank you guys for liking
the show as much as we do.

Speaker 7 (04:46):
Hey, look, we're going to be binging at me and
my girlfriend, or could you I know this is probably annoying.
Can you say happy birthday to my girlfriend Elise?

Speaker 3 (04:57):
Sure?

Speaker 4 (04:58):
Hey, may release.

Speaker 3 (04:59):
It's Phineas the Sheelle, Phineas and Erb and I just
want to say happy birthday.

Speaker 2 (05:04):
You're freaking awesome, dude, you do that voice after all
these years?

Speaker 7 (05:08):
Man?

Speaker 4 (05:09):
Yeah, I mean that's the the I mean, I I
love being a voice actor.

Speaker 5 (05:15):
It is such a pleasure to be able to have
a character's voice that I got to create that makes
people get filled with joy like that. It's a real
magic trick to be able to go and now you're
talking to one of your favorite characters. I love playing Phineas.
I love voice acting in general. I hope to keep
making cartoons for the rest of my life.

Speaker 7 (05:35):
So I used to watch like, uh, Everybody Hates Chris,
and like, oh, yeah, how does it feel going from
like a live action to a cartoon voice I.

Speaker 4 (05:47):
Mean, they're very they're very different.

Speaker 5 (05:49):
But the similarity I would say is, you know, a
big part about voice acting is still just acting.

Speaker 4 (05:54):
You know, it's acting is the most important part.

Speaker 5 (05:57):
And so a lot of the experiences I learned from
projects like Everybody ats Chris, and I've done a lot
of live action work as well. You know, I did
some episodes of The Walking Dead, and I was in
a fun movie called Role Models, and so I've worked
on a fun variety of stuff. But I think you
take a lot of lessons from each project you work on,
you apply them to the next one. What was wild

(06:18):
about when I was working on Everybody HS Chris is
there was a brief period of time it was like
the last like two.

Speaker 4 (06:23):
Seasons of Everybody ates Chris.

Speaker 5 (06:25):
I was filming those while I was also starting to
work on Phineas and Ferb, and so I would leave
set from Everybody HS Chris and then go to Disney
and then record episodes of Phineas and Ferb. So it's
pretty it was a pretty surreal time working on you know,
on both studios at one one day.

Speaker 6 (06:43):
Well, that is amazing, Vintent, I know it times up,
but I wanted to tell you, thank you so much
to you and Phineas and we were so excited to
tune in for this new season.

Speaker 4 (06:51):
Thank you.

Speaker 5 (06:51):
Yeah, I really appreciate playing this character means the world
to me and it has for my whole life now,
and I really hope all your viewers enjoyed the new
episodes of the show, and I hope we can keep
bringing new seasons of the show to you guys for
the next ten years.

Speaker 6 (07:05):
Awesome Yeah Fineas and Ferb new season debuting on Disney
Channel and Disney XD.

Speaker 2 (07:10):
We are so excited, Vincent Martella, thank you so much.

Speaker 4 (07:12):
Thank you
