Speaker 1 (00:00):
Joining us now our correspond at Roy O'Neil on Tim
Walls and what's in his future about it, Roy, good morning,
welcome in.

Speaker 2 (00:07):
Yeah, good morning, And it is interesting to see how
this campaign has just turned around so fast, right, it
was just back in September, Tim Walls announced an unprecedented
run for a third term as Minnesota's governor. Now he's
dropping that campaign, probably going to recommend any Klobachard get
his job. And now he's the subject of this investigation

(00:29):
as to whether or not he's got any personal involvement
in these scams and schemes that were being run on.

Speaker 1 (00:35):
His watch, you know, as the governor of his state.
And we're seeing this in other states around the country too,
in one way or another. Welfare fraud, food stamp fraud,
you got this fraud there, that fraud here. It's popping
up now and apparently this has been something that's been
going on for years, not only in Minnesota, but Mississippi
and some other places. As the governor of the state,

(00:56):
where's your checks and balances in your watchdog system to
make sure federal tax dollars with government agencies in your
state are being run properly and people aren't ripping the
place off. I mean, who's held accountable in each state
when it comes down to the wire. Is it not
the governor?

Speaker 2 (01:12):
Well responsible, yes, but politically not criminally. Right. So it's
not as if, you know, because there was fraud on
his watch, the governor gets charged with that. That doesn't
seem to be what's going to happen here. But it's
you know, that's when the voters are supposed to hold
them to account, I suppose, And in this case, you know,
this fraud has been going on in various programs for years,

(01:34):
and it has been covered locally. It started I think
in the food bank program, that it extended into welfare
and housing programs, and then ultimately it was that YouTube
report about childcare programs for perhaps non existent childcare centers
that really saw this incredible downfall for Waltz and ending

(01:56):
his at least his short term political career. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:59):
You know, you kind of look at it and you go, Okay,
these are government agencies that are handing out the checks here,
and they're government workers. And I'm not saying government workers,
you know, are incompetent and lax, but it just seems that,
you know, when this goes on and you apply, let's say,
for instance, for a daycare center. You know, it's so
easy to just fill out a form. You know, I'll

(02:19):
watch your kids, you watch my kids, you know, and
we'll call ourselves a daycare center. And next thing, you know, well, yeah,
we're watching kids. I mean, stop me when I'm lying.

Speaker 2 (02:28):
Look around the room.

Speaker 1 (02:28):
I've got five kids here.

Speaker 2 (02:31):
Now.

Speaker 1 (02:31):
Granted it's just me and my friend doing this, but
you know, people know what they're doing. They know they're
ripping the system off by doing this, but they're getting
away with it because well, technically they are watching kids.
But you know, at some point there's got to be qualifications.
It's you know, state agencies got to be checked out, well,
I think.

Speaker 2 (02:48):
And then that requires the government worker to either you know,
be that supervisor, to go out to make a road
trip to go to fond the Latin not find o
that's Wisconsin, but to go to Green Bay or I
don't pick your Minnesota city, right, and then go there,
go into that daycare and make sure it's legit and
all that stuff and a surprise inspection or whatever. And
that requires a lot more government workers. At the same time,

(03:10):
you're saying Hey, you got that government's bending and the regulation.
It's that double edged sort.

Speaker 1 (03:15):
You know, it's so odd in some states too, You'll
wonder what are the qualifications to quote unquote open up
a daycare center? Because we see time and time again
these places are kind of sketchy at best, and then
you see the abuse and neglect and the kids, and
you know, it's one thing after another. Maybe this will
a big, big, big eye opener. And this is a

(03:37):
godwing saying, look, you better start taking care of our
kids on these on this planet here, because it's it's
bad and it's getting, you know, worse. So I appreciate you,
thank you for the update. Royal Neil.
