Speaker 1 (00:00):
Joining us now. John Decker, our White House correspond for
an update and what's happening with the war with Russia
and Ukraine. John, welcome in, Thanks for being here.

Speaker 2 (00:07):
Thank you JT. I hope you're doing well. We have
some really lousy weather here in the nation's capital today.
Hopefully it's better by you.

Speaker 1 (00:14):
Well, I just got out of that area. I flew
up to Morgantown, West Virginia to see my son over
the Thanksgiving weekend, and we flew out yesterday afternoon at
about five o'clock and missed it. There were some flurries
in the area. But I've gotten pictures from my sister
in Pittsburgh and my son in West Virginia and Morgantown.
Six inches in Morgantown this morning. I think my sister
has four or five inches as well. So how's DC look.

Speaker 2 (00:36):
Well, we're just in the rain, So that's I guess
the silver lining here. But a good thing that you
missed that really lowsy weather certainly would have impacted your flight.

Speaker 1 (00:46):
One hundred percent. Well, I'm sure that everybody's prepared for
it up there in that region. I remember living in Fairfax,
we were always on the cusp of either getting that
northeastern stuff or just being through some rain and all
that right there in that line and see right there
in Virginia. But yeah, we got a bunch of rain
here this morning. The weather's nasty, no doubt about that.
So what's happening over in Moscow right now is we've

(01:08):
got our US negotiators. They're trying to get an end
of this whole thing.

Speaker 2 (01:11):
Well, that's right, So the President has sent two highly
trusted members of his foreign policy team to Moscow. We're
talking about Steve Wikoff, the President's special envoy for dealing
with the war in Ukraine, and Jared Kushner, that's the
President's son in law. He is one of the authors
of that original twenty eight point peace plan proposal to

(01:32):
end the war in Ukraine. That twenty eight point plan
is now a nineteen point plan after talks negotiations with
Ukrainian negotiators, and now those US negotiators are in Moscow
trying to see if they can get buy in from
President Putin, if Putin will agree to what the Ukrainians

(01:52):
have already agreed to.

Speaker 1 (01:54):
Well, I got to tell you, they've tried and tried
and tried. Are there any signs that Russia has stopped
law lunching missiles. It seems every time they get together
for a big discussion. Oh, hold on, just meant I
get an update from my generals. Okay, we launched some
more missiles and blasted Ukraine. Event, let's talk again. So
have they stopped.

Speaker 2 (02:11):
They have it? No, They continues on a daily basis.
And you know, here's the thing, JT. It's continued even
after President Trump met with President Putin. You remember that
meeting that happened in mid August in Anchorage, Alaska. I
was there when the President met with President Putin. At
that time, JT. I thought, wow, we're on the cusp.

(02:32):
We're on the cusp of ending this war. And in fact,
the president just three days later met with President Zelenski
in the Oval Office, and I thought, wow, this is
real momentum. And then of course it stopped. And since
that point, those attacks by Russia on civilian areas in
Ukraine have continued on a regular basis, with record numbers

(02:52):
of missile and drone strikes.

Speaker 1 (02:54):
Well, the President has his hands full of Venezuela is
certainly a front and center with him deciding whether or
not to invade there and take out that evil dictator.
Also with Pete hagg Seth bombing another drug boat, there's
a bipartisan support for an investigation on whether or not
it was legal to go ahead and strike twice. What's
going on with the Let's talk about the drug boat

(03:15):
first of all, Caroline Levett yesterday said that totally within
the legal realm of the President's decision making powers to
do this. You know, we are trying to get these
drug people out of our world here in the United States.
But now these senators and representatives are coming in and saying, well,
hold on just a minute.

Speaker 2 (03:30):
Now.

Speaker 1 (03:30):
When we bomb somebody and somebody survives, you know, we're
supposed to grab them and take them in, not you know,
shoot until everybody's dead. So your thoughts on where the
president is, the White House and what's going on.

Speaker 2 (03:40):
Next, well, I think to a certain extent, it really
depends where those joint investigations go. It's the Senate and
the House Armed Services Committee that have begun separate investigations,
and I would imagine they would not only as part
of their investigations speak with Pete haig Seth, the Secretary
of War, but also with that Navy admiral that the

(04:01):
White House says actually was the one who gave the
go ahead for that second strike on that alleged drug boat.
So that will take some time, and I wonder to
a certain extent JT. Whether those conversations with those two
individuals will happen, you know, openly, whether they will be
before television cameras, or whether they will be discussions that

(04:22):
happen behind closed doors.

Speaker 1 (04:23):
Well there's more to come, that's for sure, John Deggert
the White House. Thank you, John, I appreciate you.
