Speaker 1 (00:00):
Joining us now our friend Aaron Coolbaugh, who's the director
of Hoover Parks and rerec in a big weekend there
at the Finley Center. It actually started yesterday, Vintage Market Days.
Did Aaron, good morning, welcome in, glad to have you
this morning.
Speaker 2 (00:11):
Good morning, jay T. How are you.
Speaker 1 (00:13):
I'm doing great. I think it looks like I'm going
to be a pretty decent weekend. But even if we
do get a little sprinkle here and there, it's indoors
at the Fendly Center. So Vintage Market Days. I was
talking with our producer McKenzie and she says, oh, my gosh,
you know what's going on this weekend? I said what.
She goes, Vintage Market Days. I'm like, yeah, I've heard
about It's in Hoover, right, And she goes, yes, Finley Center,
you need to go to this. She's a big thrifter,
loves these vintage types of events and it's just raging
(00:36):
about it. So what is going on in the Finley
Center this weekend?
Speaker 2 (00:40):
Yes, Sintage Market Days is here. We hosted this event
several times a year for the past I don't know,
four or five years, and it's just a unique event
that really has something for everyone. As you mentioned vintage
inspired items, there's lots of handmade art, antiques, a variety
(01:02):
of clothing and jewelry to choose from home decorps. Of course,
you know it's fall and people are kicking off all
their decorations with pumpkins and different things, so lots of
holiday items to choose from, and who knows, there may
be some Christmas items to choose as well.
Speaker 1 (01:18):
So it's different vendors that come in with different booths,
kind of like a Christmas village type of thing.
Speaker 2 (01:24):
Yes, exactly, there's over one hundred vendors that will be there. So,
like I said, there's really something for everyone, even you,
So you should go check it out.
Speaker 1 (01:32):
You know I've never been. Maybe we'll do that. I mean,
that's awesome. So it's what nine to four today, same
for tomorrow nine am to four pm.
Speaker 2 (01:40):
Yes, that is correct. The admission is thirteen dollars and
kids twelve and under are free. But here's the cool
part about it. They've got a selfie station. If you
take a selfie, Like if you went today took a selfie,
that would be your free admission back in tomorrow if
you wanted to come back.
Speaker 1 (01:57):
Look out now, come on. I like that idea. It
gets socials involved. Good idea. There's there going to be
food everywhere as well for people to want to come
and eat and enjoy pumpkin spice everything.
Speaker 2 (02:08):
Absolutely, you can get your coffee and sip and stroll
around and check out all the items. There are snacks
and drinks. But these food trucks will be on site
if you like any of these. Temper Coffee south Is
I think that's the new dirty soda truck that's in town.
Hit Different Barbecue and Taco Canelo Canillo. I think I'm
(02:29):
saying that right.
Speaker 1 (02:30):
Yes, yes, you said you had me a taco, so
I'm good with whatever they would call it. So that's
that's awesome. Now you can obviously make purchases, and that's
what people want you to do, and you could really
probably get a lot of your holiday shopping done or
I mean a lot of people go to vintage stores,
you know, in thrift stores to save money on you know, clothing,
(02:51):
I mean, because you can pay hundreds of dollars for
stuff and find you know, these types of items that
might be you know, just used a little bit for
twenty bucks. And so there's some really good things. Are
there major sponsors involved in this as well?
Speaker 2 (03:04):
I don't know about the sponsors. I think it's just
the organizers that bring it. And they have their tried
and true vendors that they bring every year. I've got
my favorite, you know, my candle vendor or my little
home day core vendor. I like to see them there
and see what new items they have as well. Let's
not forget that the parking of the Family Center is free.
(03:26):
That's always a big deal for me. When I go
other places, I think parking is a little high at times.
So when you come to Hoover to the Family Center,
it is free.
Speaker 1 (03:34):
Well, I love it. I've never been, like I said,
and I think, you know, Judy and I would probably
enjoy this. And I got to tell you, you know, when
you mentioned the candles, I mean, who doesn't have a
good candle right, So yeah, Judy and I will be
into that. Well, I really appreciate you coming on. So
once again, folks, get out to Hoover the Friendly Center
today and tomorrow nine am to four pm. I don't
(03:55):
imagine there might be a TV or two on for
the games tomorrow too.
Speaker 2 (03:58):
I would say, can I plug one more thing that
would be interesting for your listeners today at the Hoover Library,
starting at nine o'clock. We have gone for good in
the library parking lot where you can just pull up
and drop off anything you would like to shred, any
document to shred safely free again nine to noon at
the Hoover Public Library parking Lot.
Speaker 1 (04:20):
Yeah, professional shredders. I love it all right, Well, Aaron,
I appreciate you. Thanks for coming on in vintage market
days folks once again in Hoover tomorrow and today not
amdel four pm. Thank you, Erin, We'll see you there.
Speaker 2 (04:33):
Thank you.
