Speaker 1 (00:00):
Evan Brown joins us. Now, Evan from Fox News. Welcome
to Alabama's Morning News. This has been a different day,
and I know we had different material plan. But let's
talk about Charlie Kirk because I know that you've studied
the media and you've stayed coverage of these things for
a while.
Speaker 2 (00:16):
What's the latest, Well, I wish I had the latest
for you. The reality is is that we don't have
much to tell you. There were two people at some
point detained or taken into custody for questioning. They were
released to law enforcement determining that they were not the
people they're looking for. So we still don't have much
to go on. Certainly they haven't said much, but they
(00:37):
are still looking for someone. And until someone's in custody,
I think there's going to be a lot of unrest.
We'll say, people will be very skittish over the next
however many hours, days it takes to find whoever it
is that police believe did this. All we know is
that there was someone spotted up on the roof in
(00:57):
that quad at the university, and that person may have
been one hundred and fifty two hundred yards away and
took that shot. Already the silly speculation is already about there.
It was a sniper, it was a trained assassin, it
was a hired gun. It was this. It was that.
I think any hunter would tell you that they can
(01:19):
certainly make a shot two hundred yards away with a
thirty odd six.
Speaker 1 (01:23):
So it was definitely a mark, but some sort it was.
Speaker 2 (01:26):
It wasn't an accident who had had a skill. This
wasn't a random shooting. Yes, but this wasn't an MI
six James Bond sniper with some kind of super d
duper laser guided precision, you know, custom fire art. Stop
it right exactly. This was you know, someone obviously plotted
(01:49):
this and did this, but let's not go down the
rabbit hole of it. You know, some commando for hire
did this. I mean it's possible, but it didn't. It's
kind of any random idiot with some expertise with the
gun could do this. And there wasn't enough security to
prevent that. This was not a perimeter security event. This
(02:11):
wasn't a secret service level thing where it was an
enclosed area. There was a perimeter, there were checkpoint none
of that. This was a campus squad open event. Yes,
Charlie Kirk has personal had personal security that was close
to him, probably to keep away anyone who would get
physically close. You don't need to be physically close to
fire or rifle. And that's just the lineup. John.
Speaker 1 (02:34):
I always worried about with him because I've watched so
many of his videos and I always kind of thought, Wow,
look how close the crowd is. I see there's people
there to protect him. But you know, he's it's not
like like you said, it's not like it's the Secret Service.
It's not like they they spent all that time here
because you know, if you've ever been around, I know
you have a Secret Service event. They come in weeks
(02:56):
in events, and they scout the location, they control everything,
with people everywhere to watch. It was very.
Speaker 2 (03:02):
Few people get that. Very few people get that level
of protection. Namely, the president of the United States gets
that protection. Not even the here I'm gonna not really
give out a secret here, Not even the vice president
gets that kind of uh you know protection. Right, it's
a much smaller footprint and and so certainly not a
(03:26):
private citizen. Uh perhaps very popular and and and therefore
you know, a target, but unless he's paying for it somehow,
with a private entity. Not gonna and that's very expensive
to do. So uh, it's it's not gonna happen, right,
I mean, yes, the campus had I guess six police
campus police detached to sort of do some crowd control,
(03:50):
but that's not enough to create that kind of secure bubble. Uh.
And uh that's the you know the reality of that.
And I guess whoever is going to do these types
of things next. And look, people like Ben Shapiro do
campus appearances and whatnot. They have to learn from this.
And I know Shapiro has security matters as well, but
(04:16):
you know, you have to learn from this. You know,
don't do this on a quad. Do it in a
closed theater where you can control the entrances and maybe
have a security checkpoint where people have to funnel through
and a metal detector or whatever the case is. Because
this is a very real thing. It's not just the
(04:36):
president who's going to get targeted here. It's just that
much is now obvious.
Speaker 1 (04:41):
It's an unfortunate reality, but it is a reality. Evan
Brown from Fox News, thank you so much for joining
us this morning on Alabama's Warning News
