Speaker 1 (00:00):
Kenny Belkin joined us again this morning. Sir, good morning,
good morning, Good morning to all. Are you a Kenny
G fan.
Speaker 2 (00:07):
I am not a Kenny G fan, but I am.
Speaker 1 (00:09):
A Kenny B fan. Who isn't right. Ken Belkin is here,
he's our attorney buddy up there in New York, New York,
and I wanted to get you on this morning because
you live right there in the heat of what's been
going on with this New York shooting in this guy
who ended up killing himself after he killed four others.
What are you hearing in the city about this with
people you chat with.
Speaker 2 (00:28):
I mean, it's terrifying and you definitely feel a sense
of fear the day after walking around and on the subway.
You know, my wife works about eight blocks from where
this happened. I happened to work right over there back
before I was a lawyer and when I was a
waiter in a little Mexican restaurant over there. But it's terrifying,
and you know, we were discussing this off air a
(00:52):
few minutes ago. But the reality is it's impossible to
legally own a firearm in New York City. Made it
almost impossible, and believe me. I've been trying to get
one for a couple of years now, and as a lawyer,
it's even impossible really, you know. Yeah, you've got a
situation where the only people that have guns are cops
(01:14):
and people who have no respect for the law and
break the law on a daily basis. So those are
the two types of people that have guns, and this
is what you get.
Speaker 1 (01:23):
You know, if you've got a good guy with a gun,
they'll stop bad guys with guns. You know. I think
every doorman in New York City, or any person that's
in an office building that is the first person anybody
sees coming in, like in an information desk or a
doorman in an apartment building. Those people should be allowed
to carry because they're the first line of defense for
(01:44):
the building. And if somebody comes in like that guy
came in with his rifle hanging right there next to
his side, that could have ended right there quickly, as
you know, the doorman could have taken care of business.
But no, the doorman duck down behind the desk or
wherever he was in this and the guy came around
and shot and killed this guy. I mean, it's just
(02:04):
I don't know if he died or not, but he
got shot. I think that's that person specifically.
Speaker 2 (02:09):
But what it's terrible, and you know, we've got a
new mayor that's probably coming in this fall, you know,
Zorn Mandami. If you believe the polls, he's probably going
to be the next mayor. And this is a guy
that you know, months before this, maybe a year before
this even happened. This guy is posting about, you know,
dissolving the Strategic Response Group of the NYPD, which, by
(02:34):
the way, is the group of officers that responds to
mass shootings. He's also a guy who is you know,
after an officer was shot a few years ago, he
tweeted about seeing, you know, a cop crying in his
car and said, oh, nature is healing. This is a
man who has no respect for the NYPD. And you know,
(02:55):
we're we're at a time when we're about fifteen thousand
officers short of we need to be policing New York City,
and this guy is going to come in and continue
to defund the police. They're already not paid enough and
that's part of the problem. The officer that was shot
and killed, you know, he was working his second overtime
shift that week because they give them a starting salary
(03:18):
that you just can't survive on in New York City.
Speaker 1 (03:21):
Well, I hope that things change, and I hope this
guy does not get in there because he's so extremely left.
He makes AOC look like Ronald Reagan. It's just awful.
His policies and his platforms that he's running on. I mean,
the support that he's getting from the Democrat to get
the nomination in New York City like that, I guess
we shouldn't be surprised. But if it happens, I mean,
I've seen so many people commenting on this that are
(03:43):
New Yorkers in politics, analysts and law enforcement say, if
this guy gets in, this place is going to be
a disaster. So yeah, we'll be praying for a better
choice for New York City. Let's talk about these couple
of crazy stories here. You can't make this stuff up.
Seattle woman now is suing US Navy Blue Angels because
apparently their performances caused the death of her elderly cat.
(04:07):
What it's going on.
Speaker 2 (04:09):
Yeah, they terrorized her cat. Now, look, this is this
is obviously an insane lawsuit that someone would point to
to say, you know, we over litigate everything in America.
But there is something to this lawsuit. She's also suing
because she posted on the Blue Angels Instagram account about
this and they took it down. They blocked her from posting.
(04:31):
And actually that is a First Amendment issue. Government accounts
are not allowed to block citizens from posting on it.
It's a free speech issue. It's actually something we have
a huge problem with in New York City. When you
talk about all the communists that New York City has
elected to the City Council and the state legislature. A
(04:51):
lot of these politicians frequently when they post on X
you know, I have a nasty habit of commenting on
some of these politicians paid No. But they don't block
me because they see I'm a lawyer. But I've talked
to a lot of people who say, hey, my assembly
woman blocks me. And it's not like I've been threatening her.
I just post something about her being an idiot, and
(05:12):
you know, all of a sudden that gets me blocked.
Speaker 1 (05:14):
Is that what you do have a Is that what
this suit is about that? Or is it about the
fact that she lost about part of it?
Speaker 2 (05:21):
You know, it is also about terrorizing the cat. But
the Instagram part is actually it is a free speech
issue and she is in the right with respect to that. Now,
how she's going to prove that the Blue Angels, you know,
terrorized her cat to death is another story, and I
think that's frivolous lawsuit. Yeah, but look, the government should
not be blocking its citizens from criticizing or commenting on
(05:44):
its posts.
Speaker 1 (05:45):
All right, Very good, Ken, Always get a catch up
with you, buddy. Stay safe and I appreciate you, and
we'll do it again soon. Have a great day, buddy,
