Speaker 1 (00:13):
This says the Uncle Henry Show here on News Radio
seventy ten WNTM. Thank you very much for listening to
the show. I appreciate it. In fact, I appreciate it.
Even if you turn the Uncle Henver Show on your
radio and then walk out of the room, I don't
I don't mind if you're in the room as long
as it's on. Now in this Hilf hour of show,
(00:39):
going to get to some news items that I have
missed and maybe you missed them too. Now, first I
want to start with something that's not earth shattering or
nothing like that. This has to do with the Junior Misses.
The Junior Misses are in town this week now. Of course,
nowadays they are called the distinguished Young Women of them America,
(01:01):
and they are those things. They're young, they're women, and
they're of America, and they're distinguished. So that is that
that label is accurate. They're distinguished young women of America.
I like to call them the Junior Misses because well,
that's what they were for so many decades. But now
they're distinguished young women of America. Now they've already had
(01:26):
their oyster eating contest. I guess that was yesterday. They
had their oyster eating contest. I always love the concept
of bringing all of this distinguished young women junior missus
and having them eat raw oysters. So let's listen together
to a mobile tradition of the junior missus eating raw
oysters at Wincels and Downtown Mobile. This is from Fox ten.
(01:51):
Let's listen together the annual.
Speaker 2 (01:53):
Oyster eating competition. Downtown Mobile now has a new winner.
Fun right there, the contestants for the Distinguished Young Women competition.
We're at Winstels on Dauphin Street. They had five minutes
to eat as many raw oysters as they could. Now
this year's winter conquered thirty nine of them. Sherla Fraser
(02:15):
from Wyoming is this.
Speaker 1 (02:17):
I've never been to an ostr eet in competition, but
thirty nine and five minutes, I'm trying to think. I
feel like I could eat numerous oysters in just one minute.
And I hate to sound that gluttonous to you, the listener,
but you can. You can see me on camra. I'm
on Facebook all the time, so you can you can
(02:37):
look at my body not unclothed. I have clothes on
when when I'm on Facebook, but you can see that
I'm not severely over bees. I kind of look like
I kind of look like Winnie the Pooh in a
lot of ways, except I wear pants when he does it.
But I think I can eat more than thirty nine
(03:01):
in five minutes if I put my mind to it.
But anyway, back to the story. The winner was from
y Owning, eating thirty nine oysters in five minutes.
Speaker 2 (03:10):
This here's oyster eating champion, and Fraser says she had
a unique strategy.
Speaker 3 (03:15):
I actually Chatgypt last night how I could win this competition.
So whoa, whoa, whoa.
Speaker 1 (03:22):
She actually used artificial intelligence. She chat gpted, that's what
she said. Let's listen again.
Speaker 3 (03:31):
I actually Chattgypt last night how I could win this competition.
So I was eating.
Speaker 1 (03:36):
So this is the first this will this would be history.
This history the first time in the history of the
Junior Miss competition that somebody used AI to win the
oyster eating competition. She used chat gpt to learn how
to eat as many oysters as is possible.
Speaker 3 (03:57):
I actually Chattgypt last night how I could win this competition.
And so I was eating all the right foods. I
was making sure to keep my maximum capacity full, you know.
So I was really taking this seriously. I really wanted
to take this.
Speaker 1 (04:07):
Dub hey keeping her maximum capacity full. I've never thought
about this.
Speaker 2 (04:13):
Smart right there. Last year's Distinguished Young Woman of America,
Alicia Chewe had her picture revealed at the restaurant. Young
women are competing at the national finals this week. The
competition will be at the Singer Theater. It runs from
June twenty sixth until the twenty eighth.
Speaker 1 (04:28):
We'll be right back, all right, chat GPT. I guess
I need to start, you know, I'll admit to you listener,
I don't have chat GPT. I don't know. Maybe I've
got do I have access to it, and I don't
know it? Is it free? Could I know she used
chat GPT to tell her how to win an oyster
(04:51):
eating competition? Could I use chat GPT to do a
better job hosting this show so that you would not
want to walk out of the room or or leave
your vehicle when I'm talking? I mean, maybe I need
to look into this, the chat GPT learning how to
do things better than what you're already doing. And again,
(05:13):
distinguished young Women of America, I like to call them
the junior missus. I mean no disrespect. I actually call
them junior missus. A is a term of affection, and
I love that. In the mobile song that I play
on the Uncle Henry Show, at least once a week
you hear them mentioned. Let's listen together. Let's yes, Let's
(05:34):
listen together briefly to the mobile song that I love
so much that mentions the junior missus.
Speaker 4 (05:43):
Wonderful town, wonderful people.
Speaker 1 (05:46):
And it is a wonderful town with many wonderful people
so far. The song is accurate. Things to see and
there are places to go and things to see.
Speaker 4 (05:58):
My love.
Speaker 1 (06:01):
That's my wonderfulvocas and it is my love. I do
love Mobile Alabama tremendously, befl. I love some parts better
than others. Schools and churches, our beautiful home, schools and churches.
Speaker 3 (06:16):
Entertainment, places to shop, we got all of it.
Speaker 4 (06:19):
My heart's in more deal.
Speaker 5 (06:22):
That's my wonderful time. Bobial The center hout transportation.
Speaker 1 (06:29):
And we are we remain a center of transportation where
it becoming a gigantic aerospace place. We're going to have
Amtrak's party Marti Gras drunk train lining up here at
the end of summer, and eventually they'll build that bridge
in another twenty or thirty or forty or fifty years.
Speaker 3 (06:47):
Business and industry set the.
Speaker 1 (06:49):
Pace, and they really do. Business and industry really do
set the pace. Our economy is booming on the local level.
Speaker 5 (06:56):
Mobile's got the Junior Miss cell.
Speaker 1 (06:59):
Of Cration, Mobile's got the Junior Miss Celebration.
Speaker 5 (07:03):
Old of Party Graw, Senior Bowl Game.
Speaker 1 (07:06):
All right, I apologize for that. I just love Mobile.
I like to hear the Mobile song progress. You see,
we've got the Junior Miss Celebration, Marti Gras and Senior
(07:26):
Bowl Game. So we those are the three things when
they were coming up with this song. What can we
mention in this song? We can mention the Junior Missus,
we can mention Marti Gras, and we can mention the
Senior Bowl Game. So what has been in more jeopardy
over the past numerous decades of those three what's been
(07:50):
in more jeopardy? See, Marty Graus never going to be
in jeopardy. It's there's always going to be somebody that
wants to throw that party. That is a that is
a party that is very difficult to deny. I might
say almost impossible, not impossible, but almost to deny in
this city. So Marti Grass not threatened. Junior Miss celebration.
(08:14):
We don't have the name anymore. Distinguished Young Women of
America is the name in senior ball game. I don't know.
We've been led to believe for many years. We've been
led to believe it's leaving, it's staying, it's leaving, it's staying. Well,
I'm glad we've still got all three of them things
(08:36):
here in beautiful Mobile, Alabama. All right, there is more
to get to. As usual on the Uncle Henry Show,
I must take a time out during the commercial breaks
a lot to sit down and conserve my energy. So
I'm going to take a seat here for a moment.
Let's take the break. Let's take the break, Uncle Henry Show.
(09:07):
News Radio seven to ten WNTM. We have news headlines
coming up here on WNTM. Just stick with us news
headlines in ten minutes. Before we get to the news headlines,
here's a few more news items that I missed. Maybe
(09:29):
you missed them too. I would like to learn. I'd
like to learn about the world around me by looking
at these news items. Now checked out Fox ten and
saw that we it's of course, today was very hot,
and we may have heat advisories as the week goes on.
So I looked on the Fox ten website and they've
(09:50):
got a news story. This is the title of the
news story, The Port City reacts to rising summer temperatures. Now,
I don't know what the reaction is. I will be
learning this as you learn it if you continue to listen.
(10:11):
But what kind of reaction can you have other than
getting an air conditioner or a fan or something like that.
I don't know how don't we How is this a
news story? Because summer occurs every summer? Do you know
what I'm saying? Summer happens every summer here in the
Port City. Wouldn't our reaction be the same from summer
(10:34):
to summer? How is this news? All right, let's listen together,
let's find out together. How is this news? The Port
City reacting to rising summer temperatures.
Speaker 4 (10:46):
We'll forget the dad days of summer aren't even here yet.
Mother nature is just getting warmed up. It's really really hot,
humids not used to that, still letting, race to cool down,
melting and ready to get in the swimming pool tonight.
Whether you live on the Gulf Coast or you're visiting one.
Thing's for sure, the heat is on. For some it's
(11:09):
their first experience with these kinds of temperatures, but others
say they're used to it.
Speaker 3 (11:14):
It's never this hot, even though like the haftest day
of the y is never this hot and it's just
this hat every day in Alabama.
Speaker 2 (11:20):
You know, it's a little more humid here and it's
a little bit harder.
Speaker 5 (11:23):
But actually we're going through a heat wave right now too.
I don't know what the timbers of years today, but
I know for a fake is feel like about one hundred.
Speaker 4 (11:31):
The Fox ten Storm tracker team says we may have
heat advisories this week, so it's temperatures continue climbing. Some
people in downtown Mobile are sharing their best tips and
tricks to try to stay cool all.
Speaker 1 (11:43):
Right now this so we might learn something here because
so far I was thinking, what is what is this?
Why asking it's a hot day? Let's go ask people
if they think it's hot. I don't understand that. I
don't understand the premise of this. Could we not do
this story every day for every now? I guess I
(12:04):
should expect the Port city reacting to winter temperatures when
temperatures drop. All right, let's find out tips for beating
the heat from people in Downtown Mobile. Who knows we
might learn something together.
Speaker 5 (12:19):
Stany a cee all time water, this one thing, and.
Speaker 1 (12:23):
Well what the first person said, stay in the air conditioning.
The second person says water.
Speaker 4 (12:28):
Its temperatures continue climbing. Some people in Downtown Mobile are
sharing their best tips and tricks to try to stay cool.
Speaker 5 (12:35):
Danye act all time water this one thing and at time.
I drink my little lemonade at time. But the day
I don't have no lemonade, but I have a bottle
wall in my Corey have an umred little special older people.
But they used to say old the people, you need
an umreda but also you need a head on or whatever.
Speaker 1 (12:55):
They keep finding. You know, instead of going to this website,
I think I'm just going to go out into the
streets and just ask people, Hey, I'm feeling a little hot.
Do you have any suggestions? And they'll say, oh, yes,
you can have some water. You might want to try
some lemonade. I've got lemonade every now and again. You
(13:16):
might try an umbrella or a hat. I mean, is
this come on? Now? Going into the streets to learn
that you need to wear a hat in the heat.
Speaker 5 (13:26):
Specially older people. But they used to say all the
people you need an unreddable also, you need a hat
on or whatever to keep from having a little heat stroke.
Speaker 3 (13:35):
Turn the.
Speaker 2 (13:38):
Sunscreening over, Drink water.
Speaker 3 (13:40):
Drink lots of water, and stay in the shade.
Speaker 2 (13:42):
That's all you can do.
Speaker 1 (13:44):
All right? Now, ask him about the Middle East? Ask them,
ask them about the Middle East. They might have a suggestion.
Speaker 4 (13:53):
Other tips include trying to stay in the shade when you.
Speaker 1 (13:56):
Can try to stay in there. All right, this is excellent,
all right? Well, asking people in the streets, should they
what do you do? And why you know? That's There's
many other things to ask them about. Ask them about
how do we deal with the Middle East, because that's
that's been an ongoing problem my entire lifetime. Just about well,
what about the rising national deficit? The deficit keeps going
(14:20):
up and the federal government keeps spending money. Could you
ask them what to do there? There's a lot of
questions to ask these people. Do we need to ask
them about how to avoid being too hot? And the
answer is getting the shade all right? Anyway, An aren't
you glad the news We've got the news. Isn't it
(14:41):
wonderful to learn from the news. You know, I've been
thinking about I've been thinking about creating my own news.
Now that I've watched this, I need to come up
with my own news. I think my first news story
might be to show people how to address an envelope
(15:04):
or maybe how to talk on a telephone, because you know,
there's a lot of young people that don't know how
to do these things. Maybe I can start doing my
own news. How what's the next story? How to put
on your pants? We're going to go out into downtomobile
and ask people if they have advice on putting your
pants on, and then they'll tell us. Some people might
(15:26):
put both legs on at the same time. We'd like
to see that. That would be an interesting show, all right. Anyway,
God bless you Fox ten. Thank you for that wonderful
news item, and thank you for listening to the Uncle
Henry Show. Out of time now, as they say in Sarahland,
have a good one. As they say in Theodore, take
it Eavesey.
Speaker 2 (15:45):
All right later,
