Speaker 2 (01:49):
A fun day in Mobile, Alabama because there was a
Mobile City council meeting. Now, normally a Mobile city council
meeting means tax dollars being flushed down a civic toilet
and also a lot of politicians with their hot air
just creating just tremendous, tremendous hot air. Well today there
was all of that. There was all of that, But
(02:11):
former Mobile City Council member Fred Richardson showed up at
the Mobile City Council meeting to announce the performer for
this coming New Year's Eve Moonpie Drop celebration. So we
got some Fred Richardson at today's Mobile City Council meeting
where he announced who's going to perform? What exciting artist
(02:35):
is going to perform at the Moonpie Drop. So I
thought you would knew that you would enjoy hearing from
Fred Richardson. So let's go to the audio of the
Mobile City Council meeting. If you'd like to see the
beautiful visuals, go to YouTube and look up Mobile City
Council meetings. And it's worth doing because Fred Richardson was
dressed in a gorgeous suit. He almost looked like the
(02:56):
human Torch from the Fantastic Four movie. All right, let's
let's listen. Here is Fred Richardson with the announcement of
who's going to be the big top performer at the
moon Pod Drop.
Speaker 3 (03:08):
Good morning to all.
Speaker 4 (03:11):
With the absence of Man Stepson to a countin President Small,
to my council member COREYPN, to CONSINT members Carol Rens,
Daves Woods, and Gregory. I am excited to stand before
you today on behalf of even Smobia's board.
Speaker 3 (03:36):
To make a Hughes announcement. He is. According the eighteenth Annual.
Speaker 4 (03:43):
Moon Pod Drop, it was probably Small who asked the
board not to wait until a month before the event
to make the announcement of the main attraction.
Speaker 2 (03:59):
Is true. CJ. Small. For a few years would complain
saying that the city of Mobile waits too late to
announce the performer. He wanted them to announce the performer
earlier so people would have time to make travel plans
if they wanted to travel to Mobile to see whoever
it is. So, yes, CJ. Small getting it, getting this
announcement made earlier.
Speaker 4 (04:22):
We are here this morning to honor your requests. Let
me inform all of you that the Mobile and your
move I drop. According to USA Today in twenty twenty four.
Speaker 3 (04:43):
Rank number nine among all New.
Speaker 4 (04:48):
Year's eves in America, we have come.
Speaker 3 (05:00):
A mighty long ways.
Speaker 4 (05:04):
Last year it was country and western Kint Black rocked
the house. This year the genre is R and B
Rhythm and blues, and the Boys selected a R and
B group whose leader was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Graduated
(05:27):
high school with Prince and they started out playing in
the same band.
Speaker 2 (05:34):
If you love Prince, you will love.
Speaker 4 (05:39):
The main attraction for the Moonpire Drop this year. So
for the Moonpid for the announcement, watched the screen.
Speaker 2 (05:49):
So you said, watch the screen and showed a video
showing the audience there and anybody watching on YouTube. Who
would be the main performer at the Moon Pine Drop? Now,
the opening act is a local band called Red and
the Revelers, Redd and the Revelers, who they're very good.
(06:10):
By the way, Redding the Revelers. There were guests on
the Old Uncle Henry Show during the pandemic, the Friday
Night Uncle Henry Show that I did with Johnny Gwynn
reading the Revelers came in. They're great. So Redd and
the Revelers will be there for the Moon Pone Drop.
But Fred Richardson made the announcement at the City Council
meeting today that the artist for the Moonpie Drop this
(06:35):
coming New Year's Eve will be Morris Day and the time. Yes,
I know you've been clamoring this. You've been clamoring for
this for years, wondering when would Morris Day visit Mobile.
We what's finally happening. Your dreams are coming true. Morris
Day and the Time are coming to Mobile, Alabama to
(06:58):
perform all of their big hits at the Moonpie Drop.
And of course their big hits. You remember their big hits.
There was Jungle Love. How many of us have enjoyed
dancing to Jungle Love at some point in our lives.
There's their big hits, Jungle Love. And then there's another
(07:20):
hit they had called the Bird, and then and then
I believe, I believe we played Jungle Love again. Well, look,
they're good in concert. They're good in concert. It doesn't
matter the number of hits. They're great in concert. Morris
Day in the Time Inmobile for the Moonpie Drop. They peaked.
(07:44):
They peaked in the mid nineteen eighties. But it's at
least they peaked. Yes, at least they had a peaking.
Some bands never peak. So Morris Day in the Time
and People are very excited about this. At least they
appeared to be at the Mobile City Council meeting. I
know that the Mobile City Council seemed very excited about
(08:07):
having Morris Day and the Time coming to Mobile. All right,
there's a little bit more to this I want to
share with you. I'm going to do that after the
break because I know that you'll love hearing more from
Fred Richardson. And also the deep appreciation for Mobile City
Council members as they just are just so excited to
have Morris Day in the Time and the Moonpie Drop
(08:31):
and Mobile. But aren't you excited now New Year's Eve?
You already know what you're going to be doing New
Year's Eve. You're going to be heading down to Mobile's
downtown Aria and around midnight as we ring in the
New Year, you're going to be dancing to Jungle Love.
(09:14):
Uncle Henry Show. News Radio seventy ten WNTIM it is

This morning, Fred Richardson, former Mobile City Council member, former
candidate pre mayor, Fred Richardson went to the Mobile City
Council meeting to announce the entertainment for this coming Moon

the announcement that Morris Day in the Time, the very
exciting performers Morris Day in the Time, peaking and peaking
in the eighties with their big hit songs the Bird
(09:58):
and Jungle Love, and I see that they also had
a hit that went to number nine called jerk Out.
I've never heard jerk Out. I don't know if it's
a song about throwing that jerk out of here. Well,
(10:19):
we'll have to find out. I guess at the concert
those of us that are unfamiliar with the discography of
Morris Day in the Time. So the exciting news that
Morris Day in the Time are going to be performing
at the Moon Pine Drop. I know all of you
the listening audiences will want to be in downtown Mobile
for that. Now. After Fred Richardson made the announcement, there
was a lot of talk at the council meeting of
(10:42):
appreciation and fun, affection for Fred Mitchell Richardson, and affection
for the Moon Pine Drop. Let's listen together. As the
love fest continued at the council meeting.
Speaker 4 (10:53):
What you got to say about Mars Day and the
time you got to see is gonna be exciting. It's
not gonna be a douve moment. Now we are expecting
you to join us in the cutting of the world's
largest edible moon pie.
Speaker 2 (11:10):
At seven thirty, the world's largest edible moon pie, so
apparently there are larger moon pies out there that you
can't eat.
Speaker 4 (11:19):
Then we're gonna join the parade to march down to
the stage and we're gonna go up on the stage
at eight thirty to welcome a record crowd to our
great city. Uh, stay tuned, stay tuned for extra announcements.

Speaker 4 (12:16):
Thank you very much, and I would like for the
entire board to stand.
Speaker 2 (12:28):
You can hear that maybe some of the board members
are elderly and it took him a while to stand.
Speaker 3 (12:34):
They are awesome, Thank you very much.
Speaker 5 (12:36):
Uh, Former Councilman of Richardson, since you are making fulfilling
requests from the President of the Council.
Speaker 3 (12:43):
I have one more requests you got. We need you
to do Tomorrow's.
Speaker 6 (12:46):
Day dance on stage when it's time to do it
on New Year's Eve.
Speaker 3 (12:50):
You know I'm saving that for New Year's Eve.
Speaker 2 (12:52):
Would want you to do now. By the way, now
I know you that that automatically placed in your mind
the suggestion CJ. Small saying that he wants Fred Richardson
to dance. I know that in your mind you already
know that you would love to see this. Well, if
you watch the Mobile City Council's video today, you will
see a little bit of dancing friend Richard fred richardson
(13:14):
On on that video. He dances a little bit before
they take the camera and show the Morris Day stuff.
You can see a little bit of Fred Richardson dancing
at today's Mobile City councilan. So that's something fun for
you on YouTube tonight.
Speaker 7 (13:30):
Thank you so much, man, Miss President mister Pan.
Speaker 8 (13:34):
I just want to thank my counsulman Counseman Richardson for
the vision to have the Moonpye drop and that's what
it's about. So I wanted to thank you, thank you
to the tire You're board for making this happen and
Kaseman Richardson, I will join you on the stage.
Speaker 3 (13:50):
Yeah, and I believe it too. You're leasure, thank you,
okay for all of the coach.
Speaker 9 (13:58):
Since this is my last time here.
Speaker 2 (14:00):
Is Joel Daves. Rarely is he Rarely is he this
happy at council meetings. He's usually very He's usually has
a wrinkled brown, furrowed brown his He squints at the numbers.
He's looking at the He's always been watching the numbers.
(14:20):
Joel Daves is one of those council people that's just
watching those numbers. Rarely is he real happy at the
council meetings. But he was very happy to see his
old buddy Fred and see the Fred fredericson dancing and stuff.
Speaker 9 (14:36):
To uh listen to Counselman Richardson's preview of coming attractions for.
Speaker 7 (14:42):
The New Drop.
Speaker 9 (14:44):
I want to say again that while Counselman Richardson was
on the council, he and I agreed, sometimes we disagreed.
Speaker 3 (14:51):
We never fell out.
Speaker 9 (14:53):
That's right, we never fell out. And he's a great
guy to take a long trip in a car with
which I have done.
Speaker 2 (15:00):
You know, And that is a Joel Daves saying fred
Ridgeston is a great guy to go on a long
car trip with. Isn't that a great benchmark? Though, when
you think about people you know, do you ever do that?
Do you ever wonder could I survive if I had
to drive from Mobile to Orlando with somebody? Would I
(15:20):
be able to stand it? It's a it's a bit hey,
it's an indicator. Could I stand being in a car
with somebody for that long? I think it's quite a
compliment when somebody tells you that you're a great person
to have on a long car trip. It's just it's
a great compliment. So Joel Dave's providing a great compliment
(15:42):
for Fred Richardson there.
Speaker 9 (15:44):
But when he first came up with this moonpie drop idea,
I thought it was the nuttiest thing I'd ever heard
in my life.
Speaker 3 (15:50):
But he was absolutely right.
Speaker 9 (15:53):
You and the you and the team have done a
fantastic job with It's just absolutely incredible, great idea, great
job done.
Speaker 3 (15:59):
Thank you, appreciate you, all right, thank you very much.
Speaker 2 (16:06):
All right. It was I'll have to admit it was one.
It brought some life to have Fred Richardson down at
the Mobile City Council meeting it did. It brought some life.
If they're gonna waste your time, as I feel like
my time has almost always wasted watching Mobile City Council,
meaning due to the politician hot air. But if they're
gonna waste your time, at least entertain me, at least
(16:29):
have something entertaining. And so I appreciated that. In fact,
it makes me wish. I don't know what's gonna happen
with District two and this challenge with with William Carroll
and Samantha Ingram and all that, but uh, if they
have I doubt that there'll be some kind of special
election or something for District two. But I wish it's
(16:51):
I wish Fred Richardson could run for that. Why not? Yeah,
getting back on the council, just to entertain, just to entertain.
All right, let's see, Uh gonna go to break here
in a moment, and then more Uncle Henry show after
the news break. Since Fred Richardson was at the meeting,
let me remind you of some of the great we
(17:11):
had some great quotes from Fred Richardson at the Mobile
City Council meetings over the years. I enjoyed this bit
of science that he taught.
Speaker 4 (17:19):
Us the number one killer in America is not canceled
is heart disease.
Speaker 3 (17:25):
Smoking is not the major contributor to no heart disease.
Speaker 2 (17:29):
It's Greece.
Speaker 4 (17:30):
I don't care what you say. I think Kenny Rogerson
in The Gambler told us this. You got to know
when to hold them. You got to know when to Folham.
Speaker 1 (17:43):
You've got to know when they walk away.
Speaker 2 (18:18):
It says The Uncle Henry Show, News Radio seventy ten WNTM.
It is five thirty five. Telephone number is two five

(19:04):

these tickets, be listening after one o'clock. It'll be around
one fifteen tomorrow afternoon that I'll have your chance to
win Bailey Zimmerman tickets on ninety five ks J. Now,
(19:27):
I got a chance to meet Bailey Zimmerman at the
sand of My Boots Festival. He's a very young man.
I enjoyed meeting him. He was very enthusiastic, very respectful
to his elderly me. It really just enjoyed his enthusiasm
and I was quite He stopped in the middle of
(19:49):
his concert to testify to people about Jesus Christ and
turning to God, which I'm not. You don't I don't know.
Does that happen at rock concerts. I don't remember it happened.
In fact, most concerts I've been to that haven't stopped
in the middle of it and said a head, by
(20:10):
the way, God loves you might want to check him out,
But Bailey Zimmerman did that, so he has a soft
spot in my heart for that again all week long.
Bailey Zimmerman tickets on ninety five KSJ two five one
four seven nine two three the telephone number. I do
have more from the council meeting. I've also got voicemails
(20:30):
to get to, but I love talking to living callers.
Speaker 5 (20:34):
Hello caller, Hey, Henry, Jimmy the Economist.
Speaker 2 (20:39):
Jimmy the Econmias, Hey, before you tell me anything. I
got a voicemail message for you today and it's Hey.
Speaker 6 (20:49):
It's didn't leave me one, it's leave you one.
Speaker 2 (20:52):
Well, it's very brief. Can I uh, it's only forty seconds?
Can I play it to you?
Speaker 5 (20:59):
Why they didn't men leaving me the message? But yeah, sure, okay,
here you go, bro Tin Huh Uncle.
Speaker 7 (21:06):
I was just sitting here on the front porch on
this beautiful Tuesday afternoon for reason through the Facebook, and
I see it posted on one of the Eric Clapton websites,
pictures of EC performance in Nashville, Tennessee last night. I
remember Jimmy the Economist telling us a few weeks ago
(21:28):
about out he I believe he said he had already
gotten the tickets and he was going. I unfortunately did
not get to make it. I'm just wondering did he
get to follow through on that If he did, how
it went, Jimmy, I'd like to know, buddy, you have
a good one, all right?
Speaker 2 (21:47):
So did you get to go? Were you able to
go see Clapton?
Speaker 5 (21:51):
Well, I'm glad to hear from my West Locksley buddy,
but yeah, I'm calling in with a report. It was great.
He was wonderful, guys, eighty years oldest. One of the
best shows I've ever seen. It's funny because the first
time I ever saw him I may have mentioned this
to you, was damn near thirty five years ago to
(22:11):
the day in Biloxi on September second, nineteen ninety. So
this is September eighth, twenty twenty five. So I've been
going to see him for at least thirty five years.
And it was a great report. The average age of
the person there was probably sixty eight, and he tore
(22:37):
their ears off with some great guitar licks. But the
thing he spreads the wealth around. He let everybody else
lead a lot, including both pianos, the organ and the
piano and I'm calling with a question about it. You
can ask me more about it if you want. But
you know, I wanted to stand up, and I don't
(23:00):
know what's kosher. The funny thing I see clapping for
the very first time in Bloxi, Mississippi. It was general
admission on the floor, and of course you stood up.
There were no chairs, right, So that is polar opposite
than what I saw last night, which is most everybody
wanted to sit down, And well, I was fortunate enough
(23:24):
to be on the floor but near one of the aisles,
so I could stand up at the end of the
aisle and I wasn't really blocking anybody, so only got
yelled at a couple of times early on. But how
does that shake out? You know, you're clapping's age? You
go to a show, right Claptains eighty, you sit down
(23:47):
and tell people to sit down and don't stand up
and block my view or either I'm I'm gonna do
whatever to you. Is that is that the way things
are now?
Speaker 2 (23:55):
No, I don't. I go to a lot of concerts now,
whether I like or not, for ninety five KSJ and
no people stand at concerts. I'm surprised that you encountered that,
and it may have been for the reason you said,
because the age of the people there. Every concert I
go to, it doesn't matter where you are, a lot
(24:18):
of people want to stand up, and you can't get
mad at the people wanting to stand up, because, as
you pointed out, that's the way people saw concerts for
decades in this country. I went to a k I
went to a concert up in Madison Square Garden about
it two years ago. Jimmy and people were standing in
the nosebleeds, almost on the roof. So no, you're right,
(24:41):
you're right people normally would stand.
Speaker 5 (24:45):
I was getting into it pretty hard because I don't
know this last time I see him or not. But
he threw out a bunch of cream and stuff. But
I looked around. I was the only person standing on
the whole floor of the show. I'm the only one.
I'm the only one. I said, cow, what's going on here?
But I've been a show, a moviele where I got
(25:06):
almost physically accosted for standing up not sitting down. It
was it a Derek Truck show.
Speaker 2 (25:11):
Wow.
Speaker 5 (25:12):
And of course that was not a good experience for me.
But this was a fantastic experience and I got to
stand up and the report to Chris. The guys still
got it. It's hard to believe he still got it. Chris,
he hammered it. So y'all go check it out on YouTube.
(25:34):
There's a couple of videos already of the show and
eighty year old man ripping it up.
Speaker 2 (25:39):
All right, now, I do have the I've got a
question about this because he's got lots of very very
famous popular songs throughout his career. In FM radio terms, though,
the top Clampton song for FM radio through the years
was Layla And I'm sure he did it, but how
was it? Did he do?
Speaker 5 (26:00):
Uh?
Speaker 2 (26:00):
A memorable version of that song?
Speaker 5 (26:04):
I was acoustic and it's really not one of my favorites,
but he was acoustic. Yeah, it was fantastic, kind of
like the Unplugged but old Love was a standout. And
of course white Room Sunshine. That's how he started it
out with cream stuff. So he's throwing everything at you
right off the bat, and then he backed off and
(26:26):
just to sit down, and then he got up the
end and finished with some blues. But uh, yeah, he
played Leila's all right, I.
Speaker 2 (26:34):
Mean, what about what about the song where he shoots
the sheriff. Was that in there?
Speaker 3 (26:40):
No good, no good, No.
Speaker 2 (26:43):
What about the Cocaine song?
Speaker 5 (26:46):
Unfortunately? Yeah, he played that song, my favorite, and that's
a funny thing. That's when everybody stood up next to me.
He couldn't believe it. He and I were on the
same page. And then he pulls out Cocaine, no literally
the song, and everybody stands out. He says. Listen to me,
he says, So they're just gonna stand up for this
(27:07):
song and sit down for all the others. I say,
didn't that a shame? So you know, I guess I'm
a different Clapton fan than those there are around most
of these days, because I want to stand up and
rock and I did so.
Speaker 7 (27:22):
Well.
Speaker 2 (27:23):
Hey, I gotta go to the break. But Jimmy, thank
you very much for the report.
Speaker 7 (27:26):
Right, take care there, he goes.
Speaker 2 (27:29):
I guess Clapton should have played Cocaine at the first
If he played it as the first song, then everybody
might have stood up until they couldn't do it anymore.
Everywhere with the iHeartRadio app now number one for podcasting.
Speaker 10 (27:45):
This is US Radio seven to TENUNTN and iHeartRadio station.
Speaker 2 (27:57):
It says the Uncle Henry Show Here on radio seven
ten WNTM. It is five fifty news headlines coming up
in ten minutes. And let me go to the phone.
It's got a few people here waiting to talk. Hello,
call it.
Speaker 11 (28:16):
Hey, good email Henry.
Speaker 2 (28:17):
Cliff Cliff, you are lying on the radio.
Speaker 11 (28:20):
Hey on, Henry. Yes, I remember back when you remember
missus jews An used to run the auditorium. Yes, I do, well,
I know we got in a little trouble back then,
but I went to school with his son. We never
missed a concert, Uncle Henry. The highest I ever been
(28:42):
was zz Top, Pink Floyd and a whole lot of
these other people came to that concert. Pink zz Top
had the biggest rebel flag you ever seen come down
when they were playing that song well dressed woman or
(29:02):
what do you call that?
Speaker 2 (29:03):
Smart smart dress?
Speaker 11 (29:07):
Yeah, I mean that was that something where they always
you know, and guess what, you know, where I was.
There wasn't no sitting down in the auditory. I was
down in the front with all of these white people.
Speaker 6 (29:20):
Hit me.
Speaker 11 (29:20):
So whatever you want to say, passing around weepers, passing
around reefer and moonshine, wasn't stutting about no racism. Wasn't
stutting about nothing. It was all about having a good
time all the way through my.
Speaker 5 (29:35):
High school years.
Speaker 11 (29:36):
When I got out, and then things changed to where
its racism, racism, racism. People were doing what they want,
They had what they wanted, but they had some kind
They had to have something to train these people or
devolved devolved Black folks into the bodies as smart as
(29:57):
a chicken. But it wasn't most of the black people.
Now they ain't studying them because I don't care. If
the prices go up one hundred thousand dollars, they're gonna buy,
They're gonna party. It don't affect us that way. It's
the people are being paid to act like they are hurt.
(30:19):
Even in the situations now that's going on. People are
dying and nobody care that girl that they're talking about
that died on that train because.
Speaker 5 (30:29):
That man stabbed her.
Speaker 11 (30:31):
That was two or three months ago. But they bring
it back up because they want to prove a point
that the Democrat Party do not care. Not the Democrat Party.
Like I say, most Democrat politicians are ignorant. As you
can see AOC the guy that's talking about. You know,
(30:52):
if they put too many troops on Graham. That's gonna
fall over, you know, Jasmine Crockett. All of these people
are they get paid to be like that and not
tell the truth. But the action in all actuality. The Democrats,
the leftist people way down the deep state, all of
(31:12):
this stuff, they're being paid. Those people out on the street,
they're being paid, or they just just dumbfound it stupid
or something. The things that are going on now, we
used to be together, I mean down there in that street,
all of us hippies, blacks everywhere, used to have a
good time, even at the Marti gra I don't care
(31:33):
where we was. But they started selling this racism again,
Uncle Henry. Before long, I said this before before long,
they gonna have us black people mad at the clouds
because they see racism because the clouds are white. You
have a bliss down, can you too?
Speaker 2 (31:54):
Cliff? Thank you very much for your phone call. And
I've got questions. I didn't ask them, but I do
have more questions about Cliff seeing Pink Floyd. Were they
with zz Top? Were those separate concerts? All right, let's see,
I've got I've only got about two minutes, less than
(32:14):
two minutes.
Speaker 7 (32:14):
Hello, caller, hell man, how are you doing?
Speaker 2 (32:17):
Snake trapper? Snake trapper? You are live on the radio.
Speaker 7 (32:20):
I'm here.
Speaker 6 (32:21):
I would have loved to have been to that concert
with Oh Cliff Man. I know we'd had a blast.
We probably wouldn't have been hitting that watch of weed,
but man, we'd have had a good time.
Speaker 2 (32:29):
Good But what a.
Speaker 6 (32:30):
College to tell you about, Uncle Henry. Tonight, at seven
point fifty four, the International Space Station is going to
fly right over us, and it's going to be visible
for approximately seven minutes from time you can see it
till it vanishes, and you'll if you go outside and
look to your southwest is where you'll first see it,
(32:53):
and then it will disappear in the northeast. And like
I said, man, folks out there, they ain't never seen it.
It's worth a wat. It look like a big, huge star,
just slowly creeping across the sky.
Speaker 2 (33:04):
So what direction went to repeat this? What what time?
And then what direction do I look?
Speaker 6 (33:12):
Okay, at seven point fifty four, go outside and you
can use your smartphone to get you directions, but look
dead southwest and start looking at you know.
Speaker 5 (33:23):
As low as you can in the horizon.
Speaker 10 (33:25):
Uh.
Speaker 6 (33:25):
And then that it's gonna completely go right over us
all the way and it's gonna disappear into the into
the northeast.
Speaker 5 (33:33):
So it's gonna be.
Speaker 6 (33:34):
A sight on Henry. Also too.
Speaker 5 (33:36):
These folks out there don't know this, but we.
Speaker 6 (33:38):
Have a comment that's head in our way that some
scientists seem to think it may be an alien prob
uncle because of the way it's acting. It's it's headed
running a speed at approximately one hundred and thirty five
miles an hour, which comments and asteroids generally travel at
about twenty thousand.
Speaker 2 (33:57):
Wow.
Speaker 6 (34:00):
Well, hell look for a space station.
Speaker 2 (34:02):
Ocle Henry, snake Trapper, have a great evening. Thank you
for that.
Speaker 6 (34:06):
Yes, sir, buddy, you take care.
Speaker 2 (34:07):
There he goes the snake Trapper. Look for him on Facebook.
Two words snake and then tramper. This is the Uncle
(34:37):
Henry Show here on news Radio seventy ten WNTM. I
appreciate you listening to the Uncle Henry Show. Now this
half hour of show coming up, we're gonna get an
update on different concerts and things coming to the Mobile
(34:58):
Sanger Theater. We're gonna get into that in the next
segment of the show, but right now I want to
catch up on some voicemail. If you'd like to leave
a voicemail for the Uncle Henry Show, you can do
so by calling two five one two one six nineteen
seventy six. That's two five one two one six, nineteen
(35:21):
seventy six to leave a voice message for the Uncle
Henry Show. That's a new number this year. I repeat
that because I have been told by our engineers that
some people are still leaving me messages on the old
voicemail system. I don't have access to that, So if
you are leaving me messages on the old system, I'm
(35:42):
not able to not able to get those messages. The
way to leave me a message now is two five
one two one six nineteen seventy six. That's two five
one two one six, nineteen seventy six. Now I want
to get to a voicemail or two from over the
past weekend. You might you might remember that there was
college football, and thank the Lord, Alabama got a victory. Now,
(36:05):
I know the team they played wasn't that big a deal,
but still, you got to take the wins where you
can get them. Now, I got this brief message, roll Tide,
Roll Tide.
Speaker 7 (36:18):
I'll have more to say on this later. Roll tied
all right, roll tidroll.
Speaker 2 (36:22):
That was a good strong roll tied roll. Now sixty
eight year old Chris of West Locksley called bank. He
had more to say on it later, and now here
is the more that he had to say about it later.
Speaker 6 (36:36):
Still tied.
Speaker 7 (36:36):
Huck good Monday afternoon to from the front porch here
in West Likely.
Speaker 2 (36:41):
Yes, this phoned in as you're you may be callindrically
challenged and have trouble with calendars. This was phoned in yesterday.
Today is Tuesday. Yesterday was Monday. That's how calendars work,
at least for now, unless Congress decides to change it.
Speaker 7 (36:58):
But anyway, isn't it a beautiful morning this morning and
still remains a beautiful day? It was yes man this morning,
walk torid it to the bus stop rounds about seventy ten.
It was a nice cool sixty five degrees comfortable. I'm
(37:18):
going to be in the mid eighties today, even more comfortable.
Speaker 2 (37:22):
Yes, love it, Yes, alright, now, before you get I
just want to mention that I also yesterday it was
more humid this morning, but that magical feeling of autumnal
weather now I know here in South Alabama we could
get a heat wave tomorrow, a big one, but I
(37:45):
don't care if it's just temporary. I love that autumnal
feeling with some temperatures hitting the sixties. I just love it,
just like Chris Fall. I like fall even better than spring.
All right, back to the message.
Speaker 7 (38:04):
I liked what I seen Saturday night, and there again
I realized that half the high school teams in Mobile County.
Speaker 5 (38:11):
Could have beat them.
Speaker 7 (38:12):
But nonetheless, it was remind me of back in bears
days when all them guys about seventy or eighty of
them got to play as well. It looks Saturday night
I was gonna need them boys doing down the road?
What were so many games that the play nowadays? And everything?
But I enjoyed it, enjoyed seeing the tide road road time.
(38:35):
Also enjoyed the first Sunday at church, first Sunday of
the month at church yesterday.
Speaker 2 (38:45):
Oh, here we go, the usual.
Speaker 7 (38:49):
Careers fried chicken, all the veggies and whatnot on the side.
I will say one thing I'll highlight.
Speaker 2 (38:58):
Also now before you highlight, you mentioned that there were
veggies and what not there as well as the Greers
fried chicken. I'm curious about the what not is now?
Is that? What would you consider the what not if
you do not include the cast roles or vegetable dishes?
(39:20):
What would the what not be? Would that be the rolls?
Speaker 4 (39:26):
What?
Speaker 2 (39:26):
I'm just curious, what's the what not? I wonder if
there is a what not what not cast role? What
would you put in a what not cast role? Anyway,
back to the message, I.
Speaker 7 (39:40):
Don't know who made them. I gotta find out. But
the mashed potatoes, Uncle, I'm believing the best I've ever
hit my entire life. Wow, was they good? And it
ain't nothing like eating a big old Greers fried chicken
breast with some mash taters nuds be there on the side.
You know, you get a little bit on the chicken
(40:02):
and you go to take a bite and you're getting
a bite of both of them at the same time. Yeah,
that is That is heaven on earth right there. And
of course Ms Margaret, not only did she bring the
homemade bread, puddy, but she goes, I've got a little
(40:22):
something for you back there in the kitchen. Oh really,
and what did she do?
Speaker 2 (40:27):
Now this I'm sorry I'm laughing, but it's how often
I have not been told that a lot by women
in my life. I've never been told, hey, I've gotten
something special for you here in the kitchen. And see,
I've never been told this. I'd be very excited to
(40:49):
find out what's in the kitchen, all right? What the
miss Margaret told you? She had something special for you
in the kitchen.
Speaker 7 (41:00):
Ah, that is heaven on earth right there. And of
course Ms Margaret not only did she bring the homemade
bread pretty, but she goes, I've got a little something
before you back there in the kitchen. And what did
she do? She baked an extray little it's probably enough
(41:24):
for about I don't know, a good eight or nine
pieces of it, if not that, not a whole servant,
but or a whole batch of it, but a good portion.
She said, I made that for you to take home. Wow,
(41:44):
had me some more yesterday evening and last night for dessert,
both times after I ate the Barber's ice cream strawberry
ice cream. And I just have n't finished having me
some ritz crackers and cottage cheese lunch, and I think
I'm gonna have me some bread putting.
Speaker 2 (42:01):
I didn't talk my sister, okay, And then the audio cutout.
The message cut out, well sixty eight year old Chris,
Congratulations on it. You've gone from having a regular portion
of Miss Margaret's bread pudding to getting extra portions and
now she's cooking you your own separate bread putting to
(42:23):
take home. You have really charmed Miss Margaret in some
form or fashion. So congratulations to sixty sixty eight year
old Chris for having this wonderful relationship there. And I
have no idea what LD the Mad Trucker might say
about it is about how far this has gone. I'm curious.
I don't know if LD is able to hear the
(42:43):
podcast these days. He's been doing some workup statement, going
from getting one serving of bread pudding to now getting
your own thing to take home. This is congratulations sixty
eight year old Chris of wes Locksley. All right, so
what is coming up at the Sanger Theater in downtown
(43:04):
Mobile in the coming months. We'll find out in the
next segment of the show that's coming up after the break,
Let's take the break News Radio seven to ten WNTM,
(43:26):
The Uncle Henry Show. News headlines coming up in ten minutes.
Before we get to the news headlines, we're going to
talk to Aneline Solomon with nowhere. How should I describe you,
Aneline Solomon, who are you with?
Speaker 10 (43:40):
I'm a two person. I'm just I have two personalities.
So I'm with the Mobile Convention Center and the Mobile
Singer Theater.
Speaker 2 (43:47):
Okay, Mobile Convention Center and Mobile Sanger Theater. Glad to
have you on the radio to talk about all the
things coming to the Glad to be here Convention Center
and the Sanger Theater. So is this time of year
going to be a busy time for the Sanger Theater.
Speaker 10 (44:01):
It's been pretty busy and it's going to get busier.
Speaker 2 (44:03):
Okay, Well, let the listener know what is coming up,
what is in store for us entertainment wise.
Speaker 10 (44:08):
Okay, So on September twenty fourth, coming up, we have
the Rocky Horror Picture Show fiftieth anniversary with Barry Bostwick himself.
Speaker 2 (44:17):
Oh well, oh so this guy is going to be here, Yes,
so he was. He was. Now, of course, the people
listening to news radio seven to ten WNTM would be
offended and shocked by all the horrible things happening with
the Rocky r Picture Show. But the guy, one of
the actors from the show, is still alive and he's
going to.
Speaker 7 (44:35):
Be there he is.
Speaker 10 (44:35):
He's going to do a live Q and A after
you can watch the film.
Speaker 2 (44:39):
Okay, so what else is coming to the sangerow.
Speaker 10 (44:43):
So two nights later, on September twenty six, the Pure
Prairie League is coming to the stage. They are a
legendary country rock band known for their timeless hits like
Amy Amy.
Speaker 2 (44:54):
Yes, I think all Americans know Amy, even if they
don't like it, they know it. So Pure Prairie League
they're still around there, going to be at the singer
they are. Okay, what else do you have in store
for us?
Speaker 10 (45:05):
Then we hop over to October twenty fifth, and Ann
Wilson is coming. She is a rising country Christian music
star bringing her new album Stars to the stage.
Speaker 2 (45:16):
Okay, now, so this is not the Anne Wilson from
the rock band Heart. This is a different, younger Ann Wilson.
Yes that it loves God and country. Okay, so this
is good. What you have the rocky horror picture Show,
which is demonic. It's good that a little while later
you have some Christian in there you do. That's wonderful.
(45:36):
That will help the singer in my pess.
Speaker 10 (45:39):
So after that then we just announced Boozy. He is
a rapper, and he will be bringing his one of
a kind performance with his iconic hicks such as wipe
me Down, but with a blend of a live orchestra.
Speaker 2 (45:53):
Right now, Wait a second, all right, So this is
a rapper now male or female? He's a male, a male,
and he's so he's named boozy Boozy, and what is
his big hit?
Speaker 10 (46:04):
He wipe me down?
Speaker 2 (46:05):
Did you say wipe wipe me down? Wipe me down? Now?
Is this slang for something? I don't know about it?
As an older American?
Speaker 3 (46:12):
Do I?
Speaker 2 (46:13):
Is this a slang term for something?
Speaker 10 (46:15):
It's not, but it will be interesting?
Speaker 2 (46:18):
Okay, all right, so wipe me down with an orchestra
behind it? All right? Have you been a big boozy
listener yourself? Do you know a lot about boozy?
Speaker 10 (46:30):
A little bit?
Speaker 7 (46:31):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (46:31):
You do?
Speaker 10 (46:32):
In my college years?
Speaker 5 (46:33):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (46:33):
What are some other boozy songs? Are they called songs?
Speaker 10 (46:37):
There? You can call it?
Speaker 2 (46:39):
What are some other boozy songs that you like when
you were in college?
Speaker 10 (46:43):
I mean, wipe me Down was the best one?
Speaker 2 (46:45):
Wipe me down? Yes? All right, I'm gonna. I don't
know if I should. I'm afraid.
Speaker 10 (46:50):
Set off.
Speaker 2 (46:51):
Set it off? Yes, now, set it off. Doesn't sound
as odd as wipe me down.
Speaker 10 (46:58):
No, but it'll be set off at the singer that's why.
Speaker 2 (47:01):
Okay, all right, so that when is Boozy going to
be in town.
Speaker 10 (47:04):
He will be in town November fourteenth.
Speaker 2 (47:05):
Okay, gonna mark that down, just right before Thanksgiving. Get
the family in town and go see Boozy. Wipe it
down with an orchestra.
Speaker 3 (47:13):
All right?
Speaker 2 (47:13):
What else? What else do we have coming?
Speaker 10 (47:15):
Then? I'm gonna hop over to the convention Center.
Speaker 2 (47:18):
Real, okay, the Mobile Convention Center.
Speaker 10 (47:20):
Yes, we have the South Alabama Comic con coming September
twenty seventh through the twenty eighth.
Speaker 2 (47:25):
Okay, what do you know about that?
Speaker 10 (47:27):
It will be a two day experience of comics, gaming, anime,
and pop culture.
Speaker 2 (47:33):
So a lot of weirdos. There be a lot of
weirdos at the convention center. Have made I don't remember
it being at the convention Center before this.
Speaker 10 (47:40):
This will be the second year that I've been there.
Speaker 2 (47:42):
Oh okay, So it's there this second year at the
convention Center. Yes, okay, So.
Speaker 10 (47:47):
If you're on the streets of downtown Mobile those two days.
Speaker 2 (47:50):
You will see people dressed as Darth Vader and all
that kind of stuff. Yeah, all right, what anything else
you want to throw in there?
Speaker 10 (47:58):
Actually, I guess I can skip back over to I
forgot one. It is the Black Jacket Symphony is coming
back to the Mobile.
Speaker 2 (48:05):
Okay. Those are the people that pretend to be other artists.
Speaker 10 (48:08):
Yes, okay, they are pretending to be the era of
yacht rock this time.
Speaker 2 (48:11):
Okay, so that.
Speaker 10 (48:12):
Will include Kenny Logins, hauland Oates, Steely Dan and many
many more.
Speaker 2 (48:17):
Okay, so all the low tea level rock and roll, Yes,
the yacht rock rock and roll. When is that?
Speaker 10 (48:23):
That is October fourth?
Speaker 2 (48:25):
All right? Well, Adeline, where can people find out more
information about all of these exciting shows.
Speaker 10 (48:31):
You can come to Mobilesanger dot com or Mobile Conventions
dot com.
Speaker 2 (48:35):
All right, Adeline, thank you so much for coming down
here from the convention center and the singer and for
telling us about Boozy and wiping it and all that,
and you're so very welcome. All right, there, she goes.
I just how about that. Here we are, it's twenty
twenty five, and you have a entertainment venue that is
(48:55):
run by the City of Mobile bringing in rocky horror,
demonic pick show we're going. Is there any element of
a tax dollar going to bring the Rocky Horror Picture
Show to Mobile with one of the original actors there
to bring in full on demonicism. This is the tax
(49:16):
dollar paying for this. Look, I don't have time to
get into that because we're just about out of time
here on the Uncle Henry Show. So look, if you
want to listen back to previous shows, you know you
can find them as podcasts. The Uncle Henry Show available
at NewsRadio seven to ten dot com just looking the podcast,
or you can go on the iHeartRadio app. Go on
the iHeartRadio app, look up Uncle Henry's Show, and then
set a preset in the app and you'll always find
(49:39):
the Uncle Henry Show if you want to find out
what we've been talking about here on the Uncle Henry Show.
All right, out of time, Thank you so much for
listening to the Uncle Henry Show. As they say in Sarahland,
have a good one, and as they say in Theodore,
take it easy. And as they say in some convenienced
(50:00):
ours in midtown, they'll say keep it easy
Speaker 5 (50:05):
All right later, h
