Speaker 1 (00:17):
It Saysney Uncle Henry show here on news Radio seventy
ten WNTM. Now tomorrow I'm going to be down at
the wharf in Orange Beach for ninety five KSJ at
the Little Big Town Concert. Little Big Town's going to
be in concert tomorrow night at the wharf with special

(00:38):
guest Ashley McBride. Now, Little Big Town they've had lots
of big hit songs. They've won Grammy Awards, CMA Awards,
ACM Awards, America Music Awards. They've done quite well during
their career so far. And I've got Jimmy Westbrook on
the phone right now from Little Big Town. So, Jimmy Westbrook,

(01:02):
thank you so much for calling in.

Speaker 2 (01:08):
It's so good to talk to you.

Speaker 1 (01:09):
How you doing doing great?

Speaker 2 (01:11):
So?

Speaker 1 (01:11):
I know you're from Alabama. Have you spent a lot
of time? Have you spent time down here in the
south part of the state at the beaches?

Speaker 2 (01:19):
Oh? Absolutely, one of my favorite places to be in
the world.

Speaker 1 (01:24):
What do you like to do when you're down at
the South Alabama beaches?

Speaker 2 (01:27):
Well, you know, have a little beverage and sit and
watch the ocean rolling in. Sounds just good to me.
That's all I really need. I just love being down there. Man,
spent a lot of time down there over the years,
and of course we've played the Wharf quite a few times,

(01:48):
so it's always fun to come back home to Alabama
and play a show.

Speaker 1 (01:53):
So Little Big Town has been a thing now, I
guess for over twenty five years. When you started, did
you realize it was going to go on more than
twenty five years?

Speaker 2 (02:06):
Well, you know, honestly, that was our goal as a
band from the beginning, to have a to go for
the long haul haul and to have a career that
spanned as many years as we could push it into.
We just we love making music, we love writing songs,

(02:27):
and yeah, after twenty five years our band, we're all
super close still, which is hard to maintain after twenty
five years for a lot of bands, but we're like
family and that was definitely a goal. It was to
be around and stick around and last for as long
as people would have us.

Speaker 1 (02:49):
So I saw that last year you released a Greatest
Hits album. What does that feel like to reach that
point where you've got this body of work and you
can come out with something like a Graves tipped album?
What does that feel like?

Speaker 2 (03:04):
Oh? I mean, it's it's just grateful, man, really grateful.
We uh started out this journey just trying to show
up for if they gave us gas money, we'd show
up and play. So it's it's the dream, you know,
it's to to be able to continuously make music and
to make a living at it. And we've raised our

(03:27):
families on the road with us. They've our kids and
all have been on the road all along till now.
They're teenagers now, so we're not as cool and they
don't they want to hang out with their friends now.
So but uh, yeah, I mean, it's a hard thing
to accomplish being in this business. We've seen so many

(03:48):
talented people come and go. It's a tough it's a
tough road and uh, if you're not ready for the
hard work and all that comes along with it, then
it can be hard to navigate. But we've been blessed
and I'm just grateful for the opportunity to keep playing
music and show up and for people to be there.
It's it's pretty incredible. Nothing but grateful.

Speaker 1 (04:12):
So you have been touring now for a little over
a month. Looks like you've been real busy. How is
the tour going.

Speaker 2 (04:18):
Oh, we're having a blast. It's just been the best.
We haven't played amphitheaters in a couple of years, so
we're kind of hitting all of those things on this
to all those places on this tour that we haven't
been in a little while. And we've had such amazing
friends out with us, you know, Carter and Carter Faith

(04:40):
and Ashley McBride and Winona's been out with us, and
Shelby Lynn who's another Alabamian, Yes, d yeah, and so
it has been just a thrill and we have had
so much fun with our friends and well we'll do
a song with them and and it's just hanging out.

(05:01):
That's that's what we love. We've always tried to do
that bring people out on the road, you know, one
that some younger people that haven't had the chance to
be on tour, and and then again to bring out
friends because we just love hanging out with our buddies
on the road.

Speaker 1 (05:18):
So for people that have never been to a little
big town concert, what can they expect from little big
town at the wharf.

Speaker 2 (05:26):
They can expect a big ride of music. It's you know,
for us, we try to uh, you know, bring bring
you up and down and this kind of constant flow
through the show, and we bring the energy. There's nothing
more that we love than performing live. And it's gonna
be wall to wall harmonies, that's what we do. So

(05:48):
expect some energy and lots of lots of voices and
lots of harmonies and hopefully just having fun and having
a good time and and taking you on a ride
of fun and then some meaningful moments that songs that
mean a lot to us. So just coming out and
having a good time, that's what we love. Music brings

(06:09):
us all together like nothing else, and I think we
need that more than anything these days. And it's a
chance for us all to be in one mind and
just have a good time.

Speaker 1 (06:19):
Hey, Jimmy Westbrook, I have to confess that I'm an
Alabama Crimson Tide football fan. Roll Tide row Well, all right,
roll Tide now, Jimmy Westbrook, do you do you have
any predictions the season is about to start? Do you
have any kind of predictions on what Alabama's going to
do this year?

Speaker 2 (06:35):
I sure do not. Okay, I don't know what do
you expect? You know, we've been really busy and I
was I was just talking to a buddy a couple
of days ago. I haven't been able to keep up
with the off season that much, just a couple of
things here and there. I'm pulling for our new coach
and our team. You know, it's transitions are hard, but

(06:59):
that's all right, that's part of it. And I think
he's a good man and a good coach, and I
think he's going to rally these players behind him and
he's going to do his thing, and hopefully we're going
to be right back up there at the top competing again.
That's what I'm hoping.

Speaker 1 (07:15):
Well, is there any way, Is there any way that
you could give a roll time when you're on stage
at the wharf during the concert? Any chance of that happening?

Speaker 2 (07:26):
If I do, I'll get an elbow from my wife.
So no, She's like, we we all we've made that
mistake before, and we're not prepared for the boos that
come along with those kinds of things. Wow, Okay, all

(07:47):
those Auburn fans, you know what's going They'll start throwing
beers at me. I'm not I'm smarter than that. Man.

Speaker 1 (07:52):
Well, I do know that one of one of the
one of the toughest things to face in life is
the elbow of the wife. That is a tough thing
to get.

Speaker 2 (08:02):
Yeah, she's got sharp ones too. You don't want any
of that, all right.

Speaker 1 (08:06):
Well, Jimmy Westbrook, we are looking forward to the concert
at the Wharf Saturday night. Thank you so much for
coming and doing the concert, and thank you for talking
to us.

Speaker 2 (08:14):
Well, thanks for having me on. It's good to talk
to you.

Speaker 1 (08:16):
Roll Tide Road, tied row.

Speaker 2 (08:19):
All right, brother, thank you for your time.

Speaker 1 (08:21):
Here, he goes Jimmy Westbrook up little big Town. I'm
looking forward to the concert. Now. If you're going to
the concert, I'm gonna be set up in the ninety
five KSJ tent right near wharf ticket gate number four.
Stop by, say hello before you go into the concert.
I would enjoy meeting you theoretically. All right, gonna take

(08:41):
a time out, taking a break here, and then back
with more. Uncle Henry show after the break. Let's take
the break.
